Akhem sat up with a jolt. THe last thing he remembered was being in his room at his new school....

Why the hell couldn't he see anything? This was NOT gonna fly. He lifted up his hands and slowly moved them in front of his face. He could barely see the outline. Due to his decaying state, it was no wonder that he could see nothing more. Well hopefully he wouldn't walk into anything.

On wobbly bones he stood up, brushing himself off. Hopefully no one saw that. Akhem wouldn't want anyone to think he was weak. He took a moment to take stock of himself. And by moment, meaning a few minutes. The minutes crept by, he didn't know how he lost so much time. It just happened. But Akhem was getting off on a tangent. He felt around his body. Ribs, intact. Chest cavity... felt like it was all there. Legs, intact. Well at least he would hope they were there, he had stood up on them. Arms good.

Somehow, even though his body alright, Akhem had a sick niggling in his mind. What was it.. It wasn't fear nor anger. He knew confusion too well to know it was that. Oh well, he would find out later. He had to move, who knows what lurked in the fog? God knows he couldn't see it.

He step forward.

"OUCH! GOD DAMNIT!"

Even though his feet were bone he at least had SOME nerve endings down there. That freakin' hurt! Akhem looked down to see shards of something shiny. He cursed the object, but it did nothing. Oh well. He took another step.

"HELOO! IS ANYONE THERE. WHERE THE F*** AM I?"

No one replied.

Well hell.

Akhem walked around for another few minutes. At least he thought it was a few minutes. He could never really tell the time without the sun. And the sun was nowhere to be found. Stupid a** sun. Never there when needed. After mulling over the stupidity the sun presented, Akhem noticed lights blooming in the grey eternity. He must have been pretty close to something if HE could see it. But lights were always a bad idea. Lights meant fire. At least warm lights did, so no going toward that one. What about the other one? What did cold lights bring? Ice maybe? Freakin' ice, Akhem decided. He didn't want his damn joints to lock up, no way.

Akhem turned and walked in a random direction.

He kept walking. And walking. And walking. And walking. And walking. And..

OK THIS WAS NOT WORKING.

Akhem stood still. Maybe something would happen or find him if he did. He didn't like the endlessness. He wanted it to stop. He closed his eyes. After a while he heard a faint noise. It was liliting, swelling, breathing. Tittering and small laughs could be heard throughout the swells. It was haunting. It wrapped around him, drawing him closer into its depths. He couldn't et out of the pull, and he didn't want to. It entranced him. A sharper laugh above the music resounded, reverberating through his body.

Akhem opened his eyes. And he couldn't believe what he saw.

He stood in the middle of a carnival. Fright Night he presumed. He hadn't attended, but he had heard of it. But it was odd, monochromatic, washed out. And what made scared him the most was it was abandoned. The laughter had sounded so real. So tangible. So there.

He slowly walked through in a trance. He wanted to believe people were hiding around the corner, but he didn't think there were. He walked up to a booth where little balls sat, waiting to be thrown at a hoop. He reached out to touch and... they vanished. The booth vanished. Its its spot was fog. Nothing new there.

He kept moving. Rounding a corner he looked down the path. He realized that going this way had been a bad idea. He turned to walk away calmly and... he was paralyzed. He heard the same music as before. It enveloped him, entranced him and he turned back around. The shadowy figures ensnared him with the melody. That didn''t mean he couldn't get angry. They moved toward him.

"What the hell is this?! Who the f*** are you?! Let me out of this damn thing!"

The figure replied with a voice that reverberated through him....

"You have taken something from me. I would like it returned."

"What the hell did I take? I've never seen you before in my life!"

"You know very well what was taken. I would like it back."

Well s**t. Akhem had no clue what the hell that damn figure wanted. But he could make something up to give him.....

"Okay, okay, ya caught me boys. I got it, but I hid it. I'll definitely return it to ya."

At that admittance, the world became white.GREAT. No he couldn't see AT ALL. He stepped forward blindly, one foot after the other. Eventually Akhem began to see vague shapes in his blurry eyes. Something like actual denizens. Score!

But he didn't feel comfortable going in just yet. He decided to head off into the fog, in search of God know what.

Akhem kept on moving. He wanted to find something else in the fog, needed to. Suddenly he tripped. He ended on his hands and knees, on top of something. God damn. DOn't people know to watch where the heck they are going?

Soon he realized though this was not a normal situation. This person wasn't moving, was barely breathing. He sees that where he fell, he put pressure on a giant gaping wound in th things chest. Well thats just great. Akhem didn't like to touch chests all that much. It reminded him that he didn't have one.

"OI. WHO ARE YOU"

The figure didn't reply. Of course not. Worth a shot though. Akhem knew he had wandered too far away from the camp to call for help. No one would come.

He looked down at the thing. No one would be able to save it in this hell hole they were in. He reached into th wound and pulled out the heart of the person.

Better to put them out of their misery.
