Setting: Under the bridge, past a bench by the water side. There sits a red blanket spread out over the sea of leaves. It is soft and fluffy and comfy, perfect for a date night. On a corner is a basket with untold goodies inside. It was a warm afternoon with a gentle breeze. The changing leaves danced in the air. But there was still things missing. Stick around and watch, hide in a bush and see the sight that is about to unfold before your eyes.....

The white and purple male paced back and forth going over a list in his head. He had a nice area, check, had a comfortable blanket, check, food that he was hoping she would love, semi-check?, mate, nope she wasn't here yet. Rai wasn't normally the romantic type. Nope far from it. He was the grumpy aggressive type that snapped at you. Was he today? Nope, well not yet. Right now he was in a sort of a panic. He asked his girl out for a date and she had said yes. He had been all excited and hadn't even though about what needed. Than he realized he had never been on a date before but knew they were supposed to be romantic. So he nonchalantly asked around and came up with some answers. But would it be the right thing for her?

Amaryllis yawned, walking slowly and picking dead leaves out of her fur. She'd just woken up not to long ago, nestled in the pile of dead leaves she and Rai had collected to line and cushion their little nest. She had to admit it wasn't quite as cozy without Rai's warm body next to her, but regardless she'd managed to sleep in quite a bit.
Part of her mind was grumpy. It was a chill autumn day, perfect for doing nothing and just snuggling together. That was the lazy side of her that she'd inherited from her father; Ryl wasn't afraid of hard work, but she took her relaxing seriously!
The rest of her mind was quite curious. Rai had been beyond nervous when he asked her out on a date, a state so unlike him that she had been quite amused. As she walked to the meeting point he'd described to her she had to wonder what he had planned. Rai was possessive (she'd had to tell him off for it a time or two) and he was certainly a lover, but a romantic he was not.

Rai finally took a seat next to the water's edge. He stared down into the water to only have his reflection staring back at him. Than it hit him. BATH! He had to be clean. What kind of date would it be if she came expecting something a bit romantic and he smelt like garbage? It would be a crappy one at that. Grumbling he looked himself over in the water's reflection and began to clean his fur in places to make sure. He was pretty sure he was clean but he had been all over the place and back. Even snuck into the humans dwelling to get a few things. So he had to have at least the human stench on him. He just hoped he got it off him in time. Though... it was starting to seem pretty late in the afternoon and he was starting to worry she wouldn't come. With that thought he glanced back in the direction she should be coming from and seen nothing.

"What on earth are you doing," came a dry, amused voice from behind Rai.
Ryl popped up, looking at her mate with a raised eyebrow. His fur was damp and sticking up in a couple places, like he'd been in the middle of an impromptu bath. He was also staring up the path like he was looking for something. Ryl followed his gaze. That was one of the ways to get back to the den, but she felt like it was more obvious and dull to travel along.
She looked back at Rai, eyebrow twitching up a bit higher. "Am I too early for the party, or too late?"

Rai jumped slightly as the voice of his mate popped up behind him. He turned and there she stood in all her blue and sparkling glory. He smiled at the thought and at her before remembering that he had been in the middle of making sure the humans scent was off of him. He groaned in his head and could only imagine what he looked like to her. This wasn't how he wanted to start off the date. He fully turned to her and asked, "Would it be an acceptable answer if I said both?"

"Depends. Did I miss the main party make it just before the after party?" She smiled and flipped her bangs away from her face, pale silver eyes sparkling with amusement.
She walked forward and examined her mate, then began grooming one of the more scuffed up bits of fur he'd scrubbed but hadn't gotten to detangling and smoothing down. "What would be a bummer. I bet the main party was hot. Sorry I missed it," she said in teasing tones while she worked.

He was about to comment about her missing the main shebang. Cause she hadn't but before he could she was finishing up his grooming job. This sent shivers down his spine and a low primitive male sound bubbled its way up his throat. It wasn't a threat by any means and was obvious as to what it meant. "It was and would have been even hotter if you would have been there. But I supposed that's okay since I saved some things from it and have a pretty good after party planned for you."

"Oh," Ryl asked, tone light and teasing as she started on a second, smaller patch of fur. A chill like a breath of cold air went through her spine at the sound of Rai's slow growl, but it had nothing at all to do with fear. "Is that why you're a bit of a mess now? Spent all your time cleaning up all traces of the main party and only just now getting to yourself?"
This was a fun part of their relationship, something they tended to do frequently and which seemed to bridge several of the gaps of the differences in their personalities. Sometimes Ryl thought all her father needed was someone who could tease him, but the thought of any woman being able to successfully tease her dad was a truly bizarre thought.

Rai let out a pleased sound as he felt her shiver in response to him. It was very male of him but he couldn't help but enjoy that he affected her so cause she affected him just as much. His parents approved of them and so did his siblings even if some didn't let on like others did.
"Yep you caught me. Was trying to hide all the evidence of the amazing time we had without you. Almost got away with it to." he said with a chuckle.

Ryl just chuckled as she pulled away and sat down. "You're lucky I'm not the jealous type or I'd be all over you about having the party without me when we're supposed to be on a date, wondering what you were doing while I wasn't here."
Briefly she thought about pulling a mock pout and furthering her teasing, but that sort of thing was just a touch beyond her. Maybe if she hadn't woken up less than an hour ago she'd be more playful.
"This afterparty had better be awesome, or I might not be able to forgive you," she said, smirking a little.

"I suppose I should be glad that you aren't the jealous type but tell me dear how do I get you to be all over me," Rai asked with a wink before standing up and shaking out his fur that way it would all be its normal self. He than turned and nodded for her to follow him. " I hope the afterparty is to your liking or else I'm not sure what I'll do," he told her in a half serious half playful tone.

Ryl raised an eyebrow as she followed after Rai. "A woman can't reveal all her secrets, you know," she said. "I'd tell you, and then I'd promptly have to change my on-button just to keep you confused and guessing." She tilted her head, a smile playing on her lips. "It's one of those things that doesn't have to follow logic. You'll have to figure out the answer on your own."

Rai stuck his tongue out at her in a playful manner. Little stinker wasn't giving in to him. "Okay okay. How about after I take you on this amazing date you just do so anyways for all the hard work I put in and you wont even how to tell me how to find your on button?" He asked hopefully. What he was really hoping is that she would like his date night idea.

Ryl flipped her tail and snorted. "I'm not even going to think about it until I see what you've got to wow me. Second, it's no fun if I have to tell you this stuff. You gotta find out about it on your own."
She raised an eyebrow. "What, afraid I'm going to get bored with you and run off to find a man who can please me," she asked, half teasing, half question.
