Dortoka felt today was a day of change. Lately she had been impersonating her reptilian friends. However she felt that she would like to try something new. A leopardess was the form of the day. She had noticed a leopards large, graceful tail and thought she would like to try that as well. Her colors and markings stayed the same, though now she have a fluffy tail.

Once she had decided on a form, she was ready for the days adventure. She was near the coast line, and decided to see if there was anything happening at the ocean. Right now though, to get to the coast, she needed to get through the thick forest. As she walked, she said hello to any sort of creature she met, though she did not talk long. she was itching for adventure. For now talk could wait.

Her speed quickened as she heard the ocean crashing against rocks. The smell of salt was strong. With a jolt of energy she rushed the rest of the way out and saw the ocean. At long last she saw it. There were times when she had seen it while fling, however this was the first time she got to see if so closely, the way mortals got to. To see the ocean through a mortals eyes was something remarkable.

For a moment she closed her eyes, listening to the sounds of the waves wash on the beach, the sounds of bird chirping out. The sand under her feet was comfortable, much softer then the rocky lands she was used to traveling on. This land would be the perfect place to start her next adventure.

Sand and surf! Tapiwa’s favorite combination. Salty breeze on the air, the call of seabirds hungry for fish, the feel of soft sand shifting under his paws. Tapiwa held his head up to the sky and grinned as the wind ruffled his fur. This was the life for him. He wiggled his paws in the sand, relishing the feeling, and then the waves rolled up over the shore and soaked his fur. Finally, Tapiwa cracked open his eyes. He flicked his tail and paced smoothly forward until he was ankle-deep in the briny water. It was cold, terribly so, but he’d long become used to it.

For once, the cheetah wasn’t drunk out of his mind, but he did have a headache niggling at the back of his head.

“Got to find some good roots to chew for that,” he muttered. He dropped to his elbows and splashed his head under the water, popping up only to shake it off and dunk himself again. The coolness helped his headache, but the salt stung his nose. That was enough. He submerged once more, giving a mighty yawn, than plopped his bottom in the surf.

There was a noise at the shore. Tapiwa twitched his ear in its direction, and his gaze followed suit.

                              A leopardess!

The cheetah’s jaw cracked open in a grin and he bounced to his feet, prancing his way back to dry land. A wee lass, one he hadn’t seen around here before. She smelled a little odd, for a leopard, but that didn’t dampen Tapiwa’s spirits.

“Hey there pretty lady,” he called,” What’re you doing wandering around the beach, getting sand in your pretty fur?”

Dortoka looked over at the cheetah and gave him a smile. She had company, how wonderful! "Hello handsome lad," She greeted in return. "Well I don't really know what I am doing here, not yet anyways. I saw this beach a while ago, but I wanted to really see it you know, feel the sand between my toes."

She glanced around. "Do you know any good adventure spots? I have been itching for a good adventure lately. This spot felt right for adventure, you know? The mystery of the waves, the creaking of the trees, just perfect for an adventure setting." She thought to the stories Raina her tortoise told her. About mermaids and pirates. Those types of adventures were the ones she wanted to go on. Maybe even a treasure hunt if she was lucky.

"My friend Raina told me all sorts of adventures that took place near the ocean. They are always filled with so much action and adventure. I thought I would create my own story and have my own adventure. Want to join me?" She said excitedly. It had been a while since she had a partner to go on adventures with. If this cheetah wasn't available she would just find another one. She wasn't the type to try and get others to do what she wanted.

"My name is Dortoka by the way." She said, her tail moving back and forth with glee.

Handsome lad, it was! Tapiwa beamed, lifting his angular head high. He made up the last few steps between them, his tail swaying slowly back and forth. She was a… very different looking leopard, her pelt of various greens and browns, and she didn’t carry herself, slinking, like the leopards Tapiwa was used to. He liked it. He flashed his teeth at her and shook his neck, trying to draw attention to what little ‘mane’ he had.

“Adventures you say, my darling? Well, adventures we’ll have then! Tapiwa always provides fun for his ladyfolk,” he trotted around her, her gait easy and smooth,” And I just so happen to be Tapiwa, lucky for you. You’re also right on the edge of the Maestros del Mar territory, and here the pirates are all about adventure… and treasure hunting.”

Tapiwa sauntered as close as he could manage, pressing his cheek near to hers so he could whisper. He lifted a paw and waved it across the view of the ocean,” Your friend Raina is most intelligent, my sweet Dortoka. Not only would I love to join you, I’ve got a good tale to tell. A treasure hunting tale! Why, just last week I heard a lion whisper there was something magnificent, some lovely mystery, in the rocky coves across this bay. If you’re willing, perhaps we can venture on and see what lovelies we might find, my… lovely?”

Well he seems friendly, she thought with a grin. He was rather interesting, different from others she had met that was for sure. As he talked, she listened to his words carefully. Pirates, treasure, the very thing she wanted more than anything. "I would love to go with you. It sounds like such an adventure! One I could tell my friends about when I see them again, or even tell my new friends when I meet them. Ah they are all going to be jealous when they hear."

For a little bit she would be a real pirate. This would be a memory should would never forget. She didn't mind as he got close to her, instead she just thought it was normal behavior for cheetahs around here. Perhaps they just thought their voices were soft or that others had hard of hearing. She didn't see it in a flirtatious way, the thought never crossed her mind.

"When do we head out Tapiwa? Getting there is almost as good as finding the treasure of course. Do you think we'll run into mermaids? I think that would be rather fun. I've never met a mermaid before. And you'll be my first pirate I've met, well that I know of. And I am just assuming you are a pirate." She hoped he didn't take offense. Her thoughts toward pirates were that they were amazing and proper fun. There were never dull moments when Raina talked about them.

No worries, I just have nothing to do right now so I am just quicker than normal. Usually it takes me much longer to tag.

“Well, I’m not a proper pirate just yet, but that’s only because I’m going to have the best joining gift of them all, and it takes time to prepare. I’ll be all certified and real in no time, nothing to worry about,” he shuffled closer yet, grinning up at her with warm golden eyes,” But you’re welcome to think of me as a proper pirate, if you fancy.”

Tapiwa was a generally flirtatious character - regardless of species or appearance. It came as natural as breathing to him. He couldn’t possibly not get all twitterpated in the company of a female. The thought that his advanced may not be welcome, or even recognized for what they were, never occurred to him. How could it?

“We’ll get out right away, my dove. Off to the cliffs to discover the treasure of… the treasure of,” he frowned,” Well, I suppose we’ll just have to name it when we find it. Come along, my pretty love. To adventure!”

With that he trotted away from her and started at a quick pace along the shoreline. The walk itself was not long, but the coves were long and sometimes treacherous. It was easy for an animal to get lost in them, and the dampness often masked one’s scent. No trail to follow out. But danger was far from Tapiwa’s mind. He had much more pressing matters to concern himself with.

"When you become a proper pirate I would love to see you again, so you can tell me the story of how you got your fine gift. That way I can tell my friends that I've met a real pirate. Just imagine the stories you will be able to tell." She thought dreamily. Eventually she wanted to be able to tell story after story of her adventures. For now though she wanted live the adventure.

For a moment she watched him head away from her. With a grin, she followed, though not quite as fast. She was not used to the sand and found her feet occasionally dipping into the sand. Being a cheetah might be a bit easier in this, she thought, or a bird. Next time she was to visit the beach she would be sure to be one of those instead of this form.

Her eyes watched the shore line and to the cove ahead wondering where the adventure would be. She focused on not falling into the sand. There were many strange scents as she entered the cove. The salt from the ocean, along with different smells from the distant forest. It would mask their scent so other predictors couldn't find them, she thought. However that also meant that they wouldn't be able to smell others as well She would have to be even more careful around here.

She slowed down. "Ah so now do we dig randomly? Or is there a hint to this treasure?" She called to him. This was such a promising trip, that she would be sure not to ruin it by screwing up the hunt.
