No matter how much she tried, how tightly she kept a hold of that shield she used to ward off others...they kept getting through. It has been a few days since she'd seen her family; her mother and relatives off looking for their missing kin; the estranged and near mindless Sapphire who had vanished without a trace. Out of the descendants of Nimue; Sapphire was the most like her cursed grandmother...and for this reason alone was enough to draw panic to the family.

"Stupid..." Minuet sneered, her eyes narrow as she laid under a deep over croft of rock deep in the forest. It had been a near torrential downpour all day, luckily for her it was an incline to where she lay covered by rock; the waterfall cascading down over the entrance and down the slope aside from about a two foot opening where the water split off so she could still see outside. There was plenty of room under there, but no one else dared brave such a storm; as for hours not a soul passed by. Thunder roared above the trees, the leaves even falling from the force of the droplets hitting them.

It seemed it was always raining as of late, the weather she hoped wasn't a direct mirror of her own emotions. She felt, as always, conflicted. She'd attacked a stallion who was stupid enough to treat her like a monster to impress the mare he was trying to get with; and it infuriated her to no end that he left more red than his original yellow. It hurt to feel so violent and become what they had been mocking her with; but in short...it was how she was always portrayed...a monster. She'd make friends, acquaintances...and then they were gone. Minuet couldn't understand why.

Yet...at the same time she did. Her mother in all her twisted innocence, had followed her broken heart and lead her to mate with two related soquili; one being her father. The same fallen soquili scorned by the very heavens themselves had found kinship in their hardship. Her half sister, Airlia...had found love with a scorned half kalona; trapped between his mutation and his demons. Where was her other, her missing piece? So far she was starting to believe she didn't have one; or was doing something wrong. Those of her kinship turned out to be malicious and evil...something despite her looks she was not. She was not good either...she had darkness in her soul and it was clear the fear on normal soquili's face when they saw her was she did not belong.

It was starting to seem...she was destined to simply be family; and if that's what it was...that was okay. They were her life after all.

Resting her head on her hooves as she gazed off to the forest during the storm, her red hair pooled around her white body elegantly; hoping the storm would pass or lighten so she could continue her search.

There was one who was courageous - or perhaps foolish - enough to brave such a storm. Ae'ilvainyx himself reveled in the weather, in the lashing wind and rain. In the lightning and cracking thunder. He may have been soaked, it may have been cold, but he was alive and alirhgt with the seemingly electric buzz humming through the air. It was enough to chase lesser creatures to shelter, and part of him couldn't blame them. It was not for the faint of heart, or those that weren't hardy enough to brace themselves against the weather.
The stallion dipped his head; he was concerned for nothing at the moment, not even to seek shelter from the storm's apparently growing ire. He had no intentions of being cowed out of the rain and wind, and so he wandered. His mother had flit back to his father, leaving him to be on his own for an undetermined stretch of time. He adored her dearly, of course, but he loved being unbound.
His mane and forelock fell forwards over his eyes, and the glowing jewel attached to his left horn was a comforting presence. It provided a semi-constant source of light, or perhaps it was just a trick of the surface of the rock.
Either way, it was a bit of his mother he toted around with him.
He lifted his head to the trees above, and shortly sneezed, spraying rain water everywhere. It wasn't the onset of a cold, as evidenced by his expression and the way he moved, lively, onwards.
It was a different world when it rained.
Ae'ilvainyx knew he'd have to seek some kind fo shelter to dry off before night fell, but he had a while, yet.

Snorting lightly against the damp air, the mare's eyes continued to watch the lands from her little shelter from the storm. She knew it was unwise to head out into the torrent, the sensitive skin under her mask always burned when touched by water and with the way the rain pelted relentlessly against the land she knew her mask could easily be pushed ajar and allow exposure. Minuet winced at the thought, remembering the last time she had to fish her mother after she slipped on some rocks from the water and how she had ached for days after submerging her head under the surface.

It would have been nice to be born with wings, and their ability to shield from the storm.

However she was slightly distracted when her stomach began to growl, her eyes narrowing to a frown as she tried to recall the last time she'd eaten anything. Too long, was the correct answer. "Figures there would be no break in the storm.." She spoke to herself, something which had become a bit of a habit since spending so much time solo or with her mother...who seemed to never stop speaking to herself.

Minuet would need to eat sooner or later.

Taking a closer and more scrutinizing view of her surrounding, she could see no edible dew grass, or fauna which would settle her vocal stomach. However she did notice a dozen or two meters off was a apple tree; one which the torrents of rain were knocking apples off the branches and scattering them amongst the ground. Perfect. Standing up she shook out her pelt before dashing into the storm; ducking tree to tree till she reached the apple tree in question. luckily she hadn't gotten too wet and began to skewer the apples with her tail to bring back.

Arashix
Blue-tipped wings stretched, the feathers slick with rainwater, and Ae'il continued to move his considerable frame through the trees. He was at home in the dim light, perhaps moreso within the dark itself, but he would take what he was given without complaint. Beneath a huge tree, he shook himself with an amused snort and then almost dashed on again.

With no ties to bind him to a certain area, he wasn't sure how much ground he had covered, or even where he was. Perhaps in the morning, if it proved to be clearer, he would take flight and survey the land to get his bearings.

He couldn't even tell how much time had passed. The next thing he was aware of was the quick beat of hooves, and shortly, a new smell drifted amongst the clean scent of rain. When he came across the source, however, he stood and watched the intriguing sight before him. His head gradually tilted to the side, and a darkly amused smirk was his expression.

Tirokio
Flicking her ears not to the sound of the possibility of others nearby but of more pressing matters like mudslides and possible sounds of breaking branches overhead, the mare made quick work of gathering enough food to last her for at least a day. Tail burdened with the weight of numerous apples she broke into run once more while swerving under the protection of trees before she made it back to her little hollow of sorts; ducking between the curtain of water streaming down from the dry cave.

Letting out a breath which came as steam to the cooled air around her, the mare maneuvered a bit to get comfortable as she buckled her legs and laid down amongst the dry terra at her hooves. While a few drops did sneak under her mask, for the most part she remained dry under the cool bone and tossed her wet hair back. "At least that is over." She sighed, pulling her tail around the front of her body so the apple ridden spikes were right by her head and she was able to lean her head down and begin her small feast. It would due nicely; she could easy pass a day without needing to head back out there with this supply.

Arashix
The sight of the...what he could only think to be a mutated version of a Soquili, or some variation of a hybrid, had darted from under the tree. Their tail looked utterly, ridiculously, hilarious, and he was having difficulties not laughing. Oh, it was the apples, for sure. He would have found the spikes themselves intriguing.

And as it was, he was interested enough to snake after, to watch as the being disappeared between two cascades of water after darting to and fro between and beneath the trees.

What an odd thing to do. Really.

The mud squelched a bit beneath his hooves, and Ae'il tilted his head to the side, straining to catch the words and the type of voice that uttered them. He came to a stop, the rain still soaking into his hide, his mane and tail, and dripping from his horns.

He hadn't been quite silent, of course, but he was pretty light on his feet, anyway. The flash of lightning against the water cascades was pretty, and illuminating. He could see into the gloom, and had to hold back a laugh again. That was a valiant effort.

Three apples in and Minuet was still going strong, her appetite had been something vicious the past little while as she found it harder and harder to focus on her own health in the midst of family emergency. The mare knew that day after day that Sapphire was no where to be found was another day closer to death...if it wasn't already reality. It made her stomach twist, the thought of some true monster getting a hold of the innocent and clueless mare...as much as her and Airlia didn't quite see eye to eye blood was blood.

She'd make it rain scarlet if it meant to keep everyone safe.

Pushing the remaining apples off her spikes and nosing them into a corner of the shelter as her appetite had been lost once again. It would serve her till the storm subsided by any means. Allowing a curt yawn to escape her lips as the sounds of the rain attempted to lull her to slumber, she flicked her ears slightly as the lullaby had a disrupting sub sound. Squishing....more importantly, someone treading on soaked and muddy terra. Narrowing her eyes from behind her mask she slowly began to adjust her body to make herself stand, unfortunate be the one who decided to try and make easy prey out of her.

When the lightning clashed and illuminated the sky and surroundings she could see the silhouette of a figure and now that she had quietly gotten to her hooves she took a small leap forward, letting a low shrill echo from her throat and a snort of her nostrils as she became face to face with a stallion...a strange one at that. As the mist rose from her breath, her one brow raised as the water splashed against her pelt as she remained half in the hiding hole. Minuet was almost...surprised it was not someone more menacing.

“Who are you?” She spoke, smooth vocals laced with a delicate venom; already she could feel the rain seeping under her mask and stinging at her face – in no mood for games.

Ae'ilvainyx never twitched a muscle at the charge clearly meant to intimidate.
In fact, the expression that emanated from him screamed arrogance and confidence. His first response was simple: he exhaled sharply, the mist from his breath swirling to mix with hers, and shook his head slowly in a wry gesture. He was rather surprised that - while he was definitely large - she was at least the same height. Or very close to the same. Interesting. The mare intrigued him.
He huffed a low and deep chuckle, peering at her with his bright and odd eyes, he chose to respond, lowering his head just a little from its proud posture so he could be even with her. The light from the gem dangling from his horn threw small contrasts of warm light to combat the tempest raging around them.
"Ae'ilvainyx. And yourself?"

Tirokio
She watched him closely, looking for any sign or twitch of retaliation, or even retreat. Yet Minuet was surprised when neither came...in fact, there was nothing at all. If anything, he stared at her with such a high look deep seeded in his bright eyes. It made her heart clench, but not in a good way as she could feel her turmoil of emotions threatening to release at once. Relief, Irritation, Curiosity, Anger....she wasn't sure what she felt at this point in time; but despite his mixed blood she felt more then anything the lingering taste of distrust lingering on her lips.

Hypocritical as it may be, she never could expect a normal soquili to understand and with that could not be trusted.

The mare notices the minute height difference, and already she cursed her lack of a few inches as he dipped his head only slight to make direct eye contact with her; already trying to resist the urge to look away to meet his gaze head on. As her eyes refused to budge, the torrent of chaos around her seemed to vanish from her senses aside from the stings of pain on her face hidden and protected by that often frightening skull mask. Minuet chose to ignore that too for the time being, not budging from her spot so painfully close to him now.

“Ae'ilvainyx....” She tested on her lips, the name not coming out completely right since it didn't seem like a type of name she'd ever come across before. For a moment she debated not giving out her name and heading back into the cave but that could also be problematic...

“Minuet.” She spoke above the rush of wind against her soaked mane, ears flicking back to keep the rain from entering her canals...but it also mirrored the look of suspicion plainly written on her face anyways. “Odd that you tempt the storm only to linger in front of my shelter...is it not?”

ArashiX
The flicker of emotion would have been something to heighten Ae'il's interest, but alas, the mask prevented the vast majority of all the indecision from being realized. The close proximity hardly seemed to bother the stallion, in fact, if he even knew the barest hint of the discomfort it caused her, he would probably laugh and get closer. The fact she remained still and unyielding brought a flash of what was perhaps gruding respect, and intrigue. She must have had some guts, or some skill, or both, to remain as she was.

His name was slightly distorted, causing him to feel a sharp stab of insult, but he said nothing. Perhaps she just couldn't say some new, and difficult words. Perhaps he wouldn't lord it over her.

His ears caught her name. Yet another interesting point to her growing list of unfamiliar mannerisms and appearance.

"The tempest storm suits me perfectly well. I have no need to cower in shelter." The remark was easily made, and there was only a mild pitch of a sting to his words, though with such slight emphasis, it could be questionable as to whether he actually meant it as an insult. It was followed by another. "With such an unusual demonstration and appearance, you surely draw attention regardless of whether the sun shines or a storm wails around the area. It's little wonder I've lingered. You're an oddity."

Tirokio
Breathing out once more with solid resolve to keep her ground amongst the already borderline jerk before her she didn't get the feeling of harm she initially had. It may have been overconfidence or disillusion, but she felt with her skills she could take him if need be. The sting indeed make a marr on her resolve, and she narrowed her orbs as suspicion rose while unable to distinguish the severity of his words.

However, it was what he said next which drove her to that edge and had her teetering.

"So what if I am?" The tone in her voice snapped, undesired emotion lingering in her words. "I'd rip the eyes and tongue of anyone who made ill word about myself or my family line. I am proud to be, as you say, an oddity. Better than being a sheep amongst an unchanging flock." Snorting once more, she realized he may have not meant it to such extent, but restraint was something she failed when it came to that sensitive topic.

"None the less, the storm does not suit me nor do I wish to be soaked to my bones. So, if you will excuse me, Ae'ilvainyx..." This time it was said nearly bang on as she took a few steps back into the dryness of the overhang, shaking her head off as her hair was now soaked to her skin. Flipping it back she took to laying on the ground, although casting a glance to the stallion just a few steps away.

ArashiX
Ah, but this mare was so easy to taunt. It was probably little wonder, however. By the strength of her reaction, Ae'ilvainyx could safely bet this had been an issue for her all of her life. Not so very different from him, but he'd been undaunted and had never paid heed to the snarky words of others. The times he had, he'd done something about it. So the stallion huffed a breath of amusement.

He was still an oddity, though perhaps in comparison to her family, his could be considered normal, indeed. So why should he deign to offer her some form of comfort, of empathy? He'd dealt with it, she was obviously still sore about the hooves.

There was another amusement. She snarked and snapped, and then retreated without even a response from him. Giving her back to him, to anyone, was risky, and a lot of the times, foolish.

"Perhaps I shouldn't excuse you, Minuet."

A flash of lightning lit the background as he stepped forwards, bringing his own soaked body partway in with a roguish tilt of his head.

"I see no reason as to why I should. You've given me none."

Tirokio
Turning her head as he'd entered the little abode from the storm, even if it was only halfway, her eyes remained narrowed as for some reason or another; they simply were such. Anger had faded for the time being, perhaps lulled by the rain and that pain she'd felt from the water seeping behind her mask dulled and began to be at peace once more. Yet the attempts to remain 'irritable' was still written across her face, and her tone remained as strong as ever.

Since when was that an actual request? Staring at the soaked form of the stallion she'd never quite encountered anyone who so brashly stood up to her for no reason at all. Usually there was intent to harm, maim, kill...things like that. He...well he seemed he lived and breathed to but heads with others and assert dominance.

How strange.

"Usually, dear Ae'ilvainyx, its not so much a prompt for debate but an implied notion..." Minuet's tones were quiet, but still audible above the crashing and surging of the storm outside. However, int he back of her mind she wondered if he really wanted to remain out in the storm despite his earlier notions of being suited to him. In her mind, who would want to risk getting sick out in that kind of tempest? "However if its a call for a place for the meantime, be my guest...since I seem to have not given you adequate reasons and have no intention to leave yet." Flashing her eyes towards him, she watched as her body leaned against the wall of the cave; listening to the occasional drip of water onto the rocks from her soaked ruby locks.

What a strange interaction this had turned out to be on such a long and mundane journey thus far.

To share the love, Ae'ilvainyx shook his head, his thick mane spraying water from its soaked strands to spray around the cave and onto Minuet herself.

“I wouldn't say it was even a notion. You're too passive about it. There's no bite to back up your bark.”

It was a slow taunt, disguised as casual words. There wasn't much more to say, for him, but he pulled the rest of his considerable frame within the cave and lowered his head towards her. His entire posture screamed success, and attested to the fact he was born to rule, and in this moment, he was. Even if it was one mare. His tail was given the same whipping treatment to rid itself of the worst of the water, and he even smacked it against the cave wall he was nearest to. Thankfully, it wasn't the one Minuet was laying next to. He wasn't that stupid, or trying to push her that far.

He had more sense than that...but there was a sense that he was smirking at her as he blew a soft breath towards her. A puff of warmth despite the chill.

Tirokio
Snorting loudly as she ducked her head at his spraying droplets all over her, she snapped her head and stared, at first she was at a loss for words....a thought of out of all the soq in the world, how she stumbled on him was a complete mystery. However, she also wondered, out of all of them...why was it a relatively normal halfbreed hadn't turned tail and ran. Well, she could think of one word for it, and it reminded her of one's backside. None the less, his words gnawed at her temper...but that was what he wanted, was it not?

"I am not a savage beast, it should be common sense which most have to leave me the hell alone that I don't need to go 'biting' to prove my point." She pondered if he could say the same...since all he'd done was n** at her constantly.

"I've had enough conflict this week, I need not any more." Shooting him a look from between her damp locks, she was about to lay her head down when his breath hit her nose and she wrinkled her snout. What was his problem!?

As far as Minuet was concerned, this storm couldn't end fast enough for her to keep her sanity at this rate.

"Or is it the fact you get some sick kicks on making others irritable and angry?" Once more she found herself snorting, the steam of air swirling around his own snout as he remained looking down upon her. Literally and figuratively.

"If it were truly conflict I was looking for...I wouldn't be bantering about with you. I do prefer action over talk." He gave a huff of amusement at her glare. It - purely by coincidence! - caused another puff of breath to escape his nostrils to buffet Minuet on her pretty shielded face.

He wouldn't admit he found it amusing. Like as not his body posture gave it away for him. He hadn't even minded the warmth of her own snort. In contrast to his soaked body it was pleasant and warm, even if it did nothing to dry him.

"If you cannot control your anger then I wonder how you have not come to be seriously injured despite your size and foreboding looks."

Frowning, quite deeply along her brow she wondered the implications of his words. If he preferred action than why was he here? Why was he bothering her? What motive did he have if he was here to not pick a fight. She didn't want to dwell too long on it, as Minuet wasn't sure if she was going to like the answer she was going to receive.

"I'll have you know that my anger isn't usually fanned into such an inferno. You must be a special stallion to bring that out so quickly..." Minuet mused, perhaps a little sarcastically.

Well, that was an understatement.

"However..." She gave one final snort up in his face before drawing back, heading to the side of the cave and settling down once more; her skin twitching as it pressed against the cold ground and wall as she tried not to shiver in his presence. "I'm busy looking for someone. I can't afford to get myself hurt to the point where I am unable to move." She would not only let herself down, she'd be letting down her mother - and her half older sister. They needed to find her....before it was too late; if they weren't too late already.

"Or you just want me to believe you 'normally' act better than you actually look." He snorted in amusement.

Judging her and pressing her buttons, all in one? Yes. But then, he wasn't the only one doing the judging, now was he? Still, he gave a rolling chuckle and couldn't resist poking at the mare some more. She was, all in all, good sport. And she had wit, which was nice.

"You must be at least half-intelligent to know you'd be hurt that badly." He spoke as he lazily cocked a back hoof to look back at her from under his sodden forelock. Oh, to be sure, she would say she didn't mean by him, bit she had left it open all the same. His eyes crinkled in amusement. Perhaps he would follow and exchange some more spars - verbal and physical, likely - for the next little while.

"I don't need you to like me. Once this storm is over i'm leaving, and you'll leave, and this bantering nonsense will be done." She sneered in his direction, narrow eyes shooting her umpteenth glare in such a short time before she'd had enough. The chilling rain seemed so much better than to put up with crap like this....but she also didn't want to get sick. As cold as she already was...out in the rain it would be worse - and nightfall was just around the corner.

"Oh please. I wouldn't want to pull a muscle kicking your a**." She gave a fake rolling chuckle of her own. The pain would have been so worth it for her permanent wounds.

Alas, Night was finally falling; even if it was rather early it wouldn't be hard to sleep till the first light. Anything to tone him out a bit.

"Well - it's been fun, but i'm going to sleep. I have a busy day ahead of me in the morning." She turned her head quickly and rested it on her legs, curling to conserve heat to stop the gentle shivering of the fur along her spine. It was hard to see from the amount of white on her pelt; but once sleep took her she'd not notice the chill in the air on her damp pelt. Hopefully he'd let her sleep, and not keep her up with his excessive poking and pressing of her buttons.
