It had felt like ages since he was in the rogue lands. Even longer since he was there without any stress. Last time he was on a mission for his pride, a mission that went terribly wrong. He hardly let that drift into his mind, but right now on the savanna there wasn't much else to think about. Now that he was on the council, he would have to make a few trips out. He was asked if he wanted to bring company with him on this trip, but decided not to. For once he wanted to be by himself, however after only a day he felt the pain of loneliness.

The sun was heading down, in a few hours it would be night time. Ajani decided to stay where he was. There was plenty of game around. He was currently sitting next to a pool of water. There was a small mountain close by which had caves he could rest in. It reminded him of home and the tunnels he used to entertain in. Even as a council member, he would occasionally go and dance and sing for others in the pride. It was a habit, he wasn't about to let go anytime soon.

As he sat there next to the pool of water, he put his paw in, causing it to ripple. Playfully, he chased a fish around. He had no desire to catch it. It wasn't that long ago he ate. In the morning though, fish would make an excellent meal. There was probably enough to share as well. 'Perhaps in the morning I should find a fellow traveler to meet up with and share a meal.' he thought with a smile. It would be nice to have some company, at least for a little bit. It would also give him some knowledge of rogues.

His new mission was to search for prides and colonies interested in creating an alliance with 'Nera. Of course it was difficult, but Ajani had no idea how. First was the matter of actually finding the prides. The other hard part was convincing them to ally with 'Nera, who just recently got out of a civil war. Ajani sighed. He wanted to come home victorious, but outlooks looked grim so far.

Zenobia was most undoubtedly sulking. After the slight fight with her mate.... She scoffed at the idea. Mate? More like... big fluffy babboon! After the argument regarding her daughter she had left in a huff when he wouldn't see it her way. She wanted Pallas to stay with the group. Surely they could find a mate to join for her if that was the problem. The white lioness was nearly in tears and not really watching where she was going.

It wasn't until she'd walked ankle deep into water that she looked up. The female sucked up her tears as she suddenly realized she had company in the form of an eligant cheetah male. Zeno coughed. "Pardon the interuption. I wasn't watching where I was going."

His paw paused as he looked at who he was speaking. Ajani gave a friendly smile when he saw that she was a lovely lioness. His last run in with a lioness wasn't the best, however he never judged anyone based off his previous experiences. It wasn't a fair act, he thought. “I don't mind in the slightest. To be honest I am glad that you wandered over here. It gave me a moment to get away from my thoughts.”

He stood up and faced the lioness. “My name is Ajani, it is very nice to meet you.” He gave a small bow, as he watched her. His jewelry jingled as he bowed. “I am new to this area, so excuse me if I have trespassed on lands I wasn't supposed to be on.” He didn't worry too much about trespassing. If he did trespass he thought that he would be able to negotiate his way out of trouble. It was his job after all.

She saw he was trying to be friendly. Zeno did her best to put on a brave face. The lioness tried to recover some dignity as she sloshed out of the water. She shook some water off her paw. "Thank you." Her ears perked as she wondered why he wanted away from his thoughts. Then she realized that wouldn't be such a bad idea.

"It's nice to meet you Ajani. I'm Zenobia." She smiled as he bowed. The female gave a shake of her head. "No we're a traveling band of rogues. Prides don't really suit us for one reason or another. So what brings you to this area?" Zenobia had already decided she'd be spending the night away from the group. She settled herself into a comfortable position and watched the male cheetah curiously. Doing her best to ignore her feelings at the moment.

"It is nice to meet you too." He said with a gentle smile. "My pride has sent to see out other prides in hopes of creating bonds between them and my pride. So far I have managed just to get myself lost. I haven't come a crossed any prides so far, so hopefully I will find one soon." He didn't want to return to the pride as a failure. He wanted to show that he could handle being a council member, that his years at 'Nera had help mold him into the cheetah he was and wanted to become.

However, it wasn't something he wanted to worry too much about, since his mission just started after all. No one would expect him back for some time.

He then wondered why this lioness was alone. She had said she was part of a traveling band. Out in the rogue lands, he figured they would stick together to keep safe. "If you don't mind me asking, why did you wander away from your band? Isn't it dangerous to travel alone out here?"

He was traveling alone, but he was also taught self defense by some fighters in his pride. Being an entertainer he hardly ever got into fights, but recently he was getting into a lot more situations where he had to defend himself. All part of rising in ranks, he thought.

She bobbed her head and listened. It wasn't hard to get oneself lost out in the rogue lands. Still she was surprised he hadn't ran into any prides yet. "You must live far away not to have encountered anyone. If I may ask, why are looking to create bonds? What are you looking for?" Zenobia was slightly curious. What reasons did this pride have?

She winced as he hit a nerve. Bringing back to the fore her recent memories. Zeno bristled just a bit. What did this upstart pridemember know about being a rogue? Perhaps he was learning the hard way. She calmed down a bit before replying.

"To an unprepaired or unwary rogue yes it can be dangerous. To an innocent even more so. Just having a pride doesn't guarentee safety either." The pale lioness had spent most of her life as rogue and done well. She gave a sigh as she tried to answer his first question. "Because I had to get away. My cubs recently grew to adolescence, and now one wants to leave. I talked to her father and he said she should, while I don't want her to go." Her despair seemed to be crushing her down.

Ajani felt a bit sheepish when he replied, though he was did fairly well to keep it hidden. "The pride I come from had an entertain war, one that left us in a weakened state. The pride's leader has sent some of us out, to find prides to stand with us in our time of need. Of course we will repay them and help them if they ever need it." He was proud to be part of Nera, however he didn't like talking about the war or what happened after it. One of his first missions out side the pride, didn't go as well as it should have.

He had always been sympathetic toward others. Ajani was sure that was why he became an entertainer in the first place. He listened carefully as she spoke and he couldn't help but feel bad for her. His whole life he had his mother. Even now he still went to see her from time to time. He hadn't had cubs of his own and had no idea what he would do in the situation. Instead he just put his paw on hers, hoping that would help instead. "Time isn't always an ally." He said. His only real experience of watching another grow up were his two friends Sol and Rada. "Sometimes though, it is needed. Everyone has to grow up eventually. I think it is best to think about the happy times you shared and think about the times that are ahead for them then to dwell to much on the present."

He hoped that would help. If Rada or Sol were to leave him, he knew he would be a mess for days. He wouldn't show that he was upset. Eventually he would understand move on, and hope that he would get a chance to see them again.

His story distracted her for a moment from her pain. While she wouldn't pry about details, she did know that prides occasionally went to war. That was pridal business and ususlly didn't concern a rogue. Unless said rogue happened to be in the middle when it happened. "I wish you luck on your mission then."

The compasionate paw on hers was the final straw to unleash the flood of tears she'd been trying, mostly successfully, to hold back. Zenobia wept into his shoulder; not caring that he was a cheetah, only seeing him as a soft shoulder to cry on. "But I don't wait them to grow up and leave!" The lioness wailed. "I gave away most of my first litter to their father who's pride needed them. I thought this litter would always stay with me." It was incredibly hard to accept the fact that her offspring might go separate ways. She wanted to always have them near.

Ajani was shocked when she started crying. He stood strong as she cried on his shoulder. “I am sorry that it is difficult for you,” he said softly, using his words carefully. “But if they want to leave, you got to let them. Maybe what you can do is see if they can come visit you? Maybe assign a meeting spot where you could see them, just so you know they are doing fine?” He felt his lack experience was hurting his advice.

“Maybe you could talk to them about why they are leaving? If they have a reason to want to leave, maybe you could fix the problem and see if they would stay after that?” He said, trying come up with other solutions. Separating family was always rough. He saw Sol and Rada without their mother. They were separated at such a young age though, that and they didn't have a choice. They would have known how to cheer Zenobia up. He couldn't help but feel like he was failing in that department.

Through her grief, Zenobia was grateful this cheetah stood steady as she cried on his shoulder. It probably wasn't every day he had a lioness making his shoulder all wet with tears. He was even sympathetic to her pain and that only made her cry harder for a moment. Slowly though her tears started to ebb and she gave a hiccup.

"I... I don't think a meeting spot will work," she said slowly. "We move a round a lot, and there's no telling where she might end up." It would be difficult to make sure the group was always at a certain location at a certain time of year; if she couldn't get the group to go along then she'd have to go alone. Then wherever her cub ended up. It could be too far to travel reasonably.

Zeno gave a nod. "Yeah she came to talk to me, but she could always find a rogue boy and he'd be more than welcome in the group. She didn't seem to accept that." She had no idea why Pallas was so adamate about leaving. The solution was simple for her. Then she realized she was talking to a strange cheetah about personal matters. Zeno straighten up with an embarrassed cough. "I'm sorry I broke down all over you."

"I am sorry my ideas weren't helpful." Ajani said. "And I don't mind it at all. I used to listen to other's problems in my pride occasionally. I wasn't the best at helping them solve the problems. But I do not mind in the slightest hearing other's problems." He said with a nod.

"Right now I am not doing much, so if you would like I could help you out anyway I can." Ajani couldn't help but want to make her happy again. Even if they just met, he hated seeing anyone upset. "If you need an ear to talk to, I would be more then glad to listen to you. Maybe if we work together we can figure out a solution for your problem?"

Fin. <3 Want to pm me his cert/uncert and rp links? I can add them to my cc breeding post.

"I am grateful you tried. Thank you." Perhaps having a sympathetic ear of someone she didn't know would help. He might come up with an idea that her or Athena couldn't. "If you don't mind, I would like to do that." Zeno gave the cheetah a small smile.
