It was strange, waking up to just white everywhere, which made the small woman startle, jerking up in to a sitting position. Breathing deeply, her mismatched eyes were wide with shock as she tried to piece everything together again. After a few moments, she had deduced three things.
1) She wasn't in pain anymore. 2) Mengyao was gone, but she was still gripping his fan with a force to be considered. 3) It was quiet.
. . . it was very quiet. Eyes flicking here and there in the white, she tried to figure out what was happening - nothing was . . . there. All she could hear was the soft breaths she exuded, the singing of her bells, and the shuffling of fabric when she moved around, trying to get something, anything that would calm her mind. But, nothing came to her, it was perfect silence, and it was beautiful. Holding the fan close to her, she decided she would find her way out of here, without screaming and disturbances.
Standing on her two feet again, she breathed a deep breath in, attempting to see if she was taking this journey alone.
"Hello, Mengyao? Lan?" she called out - they were the last with her, and she was very worried about them - Mengyao more, his poor shattered psyche had left him battered. Waiting for an answer, she subconsciously started to fan herself with the battered fan, feeling a little calmed by the movement.

A slow groan, undignified for one of her station, Lan became acutely aware that she was not as she should be. She was not in her bed, she was on the ground. The vibrant colors of her home were not around her, but there was grey. Fog, all around. Gold eyes shot open as she sat up then hurried moved off the ground to dust herself off. No, this was not- Lifen. Mengyao. She'd been- They all had- Emotions threatened to choke her up but she swallowed them. Task. There was a task set before them. Even separated, she would have to press on.
The fog was too thick, and she summoned her bow, debating sending an arrow into the thick of it. Not to kill but to listen for anything. The familiar voice however, made it unnecessary. "Lifen?" Going towards the voice and- A fan? She hoped it to be Mengyao, but upon seeing Lifen a part of her hope dropped out. He'd been given an hour, and now Lifen was alone, with his fan of all things. Mengyao never went without it. That was concerning, heavily so. "I doubt Mengyao left you that for your protection. He's too selfish for that." The tiniest hints of concern laced her voice. "Still, it's good to see you Lifen. By chance... you remember what happened after our ah.. discussion?"
Because that was what was fitting to call their little hug pile.

She had at least one of the two she had lost when they were. . . transported for lack of better words. Walking quickly, she caught up with the little horsewoman, placing a hand on her shoulder, making sure that the little Noble was not some kind of apparition. It could be worse, she could be by herself, she thought internally.
"I could not find him afterwards." She stated, quietly, looking at the feathered accessory in her hand, safely assuming that Mengyao was feeling worse for wear without it at this time. "I do not think we have time to wait though. Go together?" She asked, as easily as she could. They would find him, and whoever was lost in this haze.

The Noble sighed. Mengyao would be livid if he thought they had taken his fan. Really, he was too attached. And in this place... he needed his comforts. He and her both, this was not their place. They were nobles, leaders, not soldiers. Conquest, planners, not action takers. "Knowing him, the fact he's missing his fan will already have him moving. Lingering will do us no good. Come, let us go."
Gold eyes went around, the warm light showing in the distance. Warmth would be fire- fire you be life... or battle. Both suited her. "To the light Lifen."

If Lan thought it was undignified to be found on the ground one could only imagine how he felt when he was roused, suddenly pushing himself up from the ground and giving it a deadpan leer as though such a look would shame the ground into ever believing it should have touched him in any way. However, he had to note a few things - 1) none of the girls were around (well, his girls, rather) 2) fog. Fog made him agitated in a rather straightforward manner. 3) it would have been eerily quiet if he didn't hear a few familiar voices discussing something or other off in the not so distance of the fog.
It was probably to only their surprise that the protector actually loomed behind the two horsewomen as they had their exchange without actually seeming to notice their Heir was right there (and rhyming) as they spoke of lights and directions.
"Really, Lan. Going like a moth?" he spoke - not chiding, but rather seeming to be amused.

Everything froze as she heard his voice.
No.
That was insanity talking. He wouldn't be here. He couldn't be here. He was too busy herding the clans, making sure they were at large, safe, he was too powerful, too skilled to have been brought to this place.
But as she turned to see that yes, that was Invictus, and no, he had color and was not made of fog or mist or corruption- "....................." A deep bow, she stiffened. "...................A moth flutters about, indecisive, and is blind to think of any danger in when they rush towards their desires." She paused. "A moth burns from it's foolishness, and I have no such desires for self destruction. Only to seek our comrades." The look on her face was much more telling.
'Do you honestly think me to be moth like?'

"Yet you go towards the light without so much as a thought of why that is the best decision to do so." Invictus chastised with a neutrality to his tone that the subtleties of would be more easily picked up by a protector - or family. Unfortunately for Lan, she was family. That tone was shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.
"When we as conquest begin the torrent of destruction beneath our hooves-" Invictus's hooves quite literally at that - "we must begin our tread lightly as others will follow our grand lead and it is not for us to lead them to their own demise."

There it was. The shame. Always. A bow, she nodded to his words. "I still have much to learn. Would you do us the honor of leading, or have you other more pressing matters that need attending?"
Gold eyes looked to Lifen, and then, to the fan in her hands. It was a small look, but a look none the less. Lan was far less skilled in holding back emotions than her relative, and the slight look of worry was not hard to miss.

Lifen had, naturally, allowed Lan to take on the reins of the conversation, Invictus was worlds away from her, rank wise, and she decided that the small noble would do better to converse with him. At times, small glances flicked up from the woman, fanning herself softly with the prized possession in her hand, her knuckles going almost white with the tension from her holding on to it for dear life. She almost couldn't handle the silence that enveloped them, in her head, the usual storm was gone, replaced with a nothingness that was bringing her on edge.
After a few moments of the conversation, the silent horsewoman caught the golden gaze looking over to her, soft eyes first on her, than her hands. She knew what Lan was thinking, and stopping the movement, she finally gave the Heir a bow. "I agree with the Noble Lan," She admitted, her quiet voice curt. "It is true, at times, to be foolish to follow what you see first, but sometimes it is the warmth you need to continue, whatever folly you find. She finished, looking to him with a soft gaze, showing that she was not trying to be insulting to Invictus.
Ultimately, she was certain of the warm light, as the little horsewoman had been before, also.

So quick to relinquish control - perhaps Invictus had conditioned his cousin to act in such a way from a life of being stuck in his (probably shorter than her's) shadow. Especially when it came to position - after all, he held rank. The only real rank at this time and place.
Lifen found it prudent to speak at last, probably spurred on by that look of 'halp' from Lan. As she did, the protector/heir kept a look of neutrality on his face - this one even less readable than the one he'd had before. It seemed they both thought the warm light was the better decision in this case.
"Very well then." he replied curtly, not saying whether or not he found the artisan's logic to be satisfying, but instead making a point to head towards that warm light. If he was going to keep company he'd have to definitely keep it.

As they walked to the light, there was a feeling of relief as other horsemen, real, came into view. A slight relaxation, she looked back out to the grey fog. One part decision made, one part thinking to regroup, seek some strategy. "Pardon, has a rather tall horseman, violet clothes, black hair, dual colored eyes, and hornless of my clan passed this way?" The soldier of famine looked to the war executioner on duty. Both shook their heads. That was not a good sigh. Mengyao was easy to spot. Very easy. "Are you sure. He might have been fretting or a bit distrau-" "We've seen no one liken that miss." Cut off, her face fell into it's own neutrality. "I see. If such is the case then-" Gold eyes went to Lifen and then Invictus. "As Mengyao is still lost to the fog, I shall be returning to seek him out." Music in the distance, she looked towards it.
"While it might be better to remain, I made a promise, and I shan't break it."
