HUNTER BASE CAMP:

The barrier surrounding the camp is no longer a solid white. After the appearance of a particular Halloween student, the barrier is now a mixture of blue and white to give it a rather frosty appearance. The camp hums with hushed voices as hunters move to and fro, quickly pulling themselves together to create a ramshackle of a camp. A small infirmary has been set up to one side to tend to the wounded, whereas a mockery of a lab has been set up on the other side with Hunters quickly and desperately attempting to recharge and rebuild damaged Runic weapons.

Thankfully the hunters are the only voices and sounds here. There are no whispers, no longings for Home. It is a relief from the Insanity, a small shelter from the midst of it. A hunter approaches you. "Good to see you in one piece," they say in a way of greeting, "We seemed to have been pulled in. Did you manage to scavenge anything?"

Reply: Yes.
The hunter looks relieved. "Great! We could use any runic bandages you have to spare. The rest you should keep. We need every able body to go out and explore."

Reply: No.
The hunter looks disappointed, but does not comment further.

"If you're going back out there, be careful. Stop by the Infirmary if you're wonded, or stop by the lab over there to get your Fear shield recharged." The hunter begins to move off, stopping long enough to add, "Also, be careful. If you see anyone fallen out there, bring them back. We need to regroup. Be careful." With that, the hunter moves off. You can see that they were a life hunter. After a quick look around, you don't see the moon hunter from the previous camp anywhere...

OOC

- If you hit under 0 HP, it is DEFAULT considered 0 HP (in any battle). AT this point as you pass out, you'll hear someone shouting perhaps, voices, as Hunters come and carry you back to the tent. There isn't much around the tent and there is no space: everyone is busy. Apparently the fog is still blocking the portal back, and not just the portals, the pendants, everything. It's going to be a while as everyone dispatched is apparently stuck.
- All Hunters that are dragged back here get a FREE RECOVERY (unlimited times, as long as they're hitting the 0 HP line).
- Due to limited supplies, every hunter recieves ONE runic bandage to use for the entire duration of this part. To recap:
Quote:

Runic Bandage: Hunter only. Roll 1d20. Amount rolled is the amount healed, both HP-wise and weapon Fear-wise. If used on Insanity, will heal Insanity for that amount and become a corrupted runic bandage.
Corrupted Runic Bandage: Hunter only. Roll 1d20. Amount rolled is the amount healed HP-wise, however it will set Insanity to 50%.

- Feel free to use this place for RP. You cannot complete prompts in this thread.
- Hunters will also make an appearance. To interact/ask an IC question, be sure to quote the player RPing them!
- If your character did NOT choose to head towards the cold lights, they cannot access this thread unless 1) they fall to 0 HP at which point they are brought back here or 2) someone who HAS gone towards the cold lights/discovered this place tells them about it.

You spot a few figures, some familiar. Within a circle of Hunters, a few of the leads, keeping to themselves. Several assistants seem notably busy with the impromptu technology clustered together, mainly comprised of a small assembly of Runic laptops. Most leads seem to be talking to a few select members of their division. Some seem angry, others quiet.

Approach Caelius.

You note that he has a rather sizeable gash running down one shoulder. The wound is currently being dressed though you notice the blood seems odd, dull almost.

He looks at and past you, still notably irate. He snaps something at the Moon Hunter, who finally gives up and retreats.

"If you are looking for ******** things to do try not to get yourself and everyone else ******** killed while you finally find ******** relevant information" For a second you hear something hum a little louder, as if you suddenly encountered a weird static feed.

Someone else seems to be watching you. The Death lead doesn't seem to notice or just does not care.

Approach Mark

"The audio jack-" Mark suddenly stops as he sees you approach. "Um, can I help you?" A hand goes up. "Fifty bucks first okay, and then I'll spill the beans."

You hand him fifty bucks.

"Now that's what I'm talking about!" He pockets the money, though it seems he hasn't given it much thought as to whether or not they would actually survive to use it. "Okay, so basically the big problem is this," he lowers his voice, "Insanity thing going on. Something big is going down there, way down, down with the man you know what I mean? Anyway, these Insanity readings are way off their usual chart, we're looking at a 15.6 on the Fear Disassembly chart from the latest version, and that's nothing like what we have encountered before, the actual case-by-case scenario to have something like this happen...." He starts rambling. Half the words he says seems to be made up.

You are Kat.

"Why me???? Look, I'm like, like gonna die okay. We're all gonna die and stuff. Can't you at least give me a break?"

Say "No".

Mark breaks down and starts crying.

Talk to Allan

"-kun!" Is about all you hear as the Sun lead waves your general direction. He seems to be busy, and one of his arms is in a sling, the Sun assistant slightly fussing over him behind his back. He makes a big deal of standing up to greet you, only to get pushed down by two other Sun Hunters as they tell him they're not done with the battle plans yet.

Allan looks regretfully your direction, but nods at you as if to say you can do it.

Talk to Charlotte

"Ah, I," The Moon assistant almost drops the bandages she's working on. "I- I actually, everyone seems con fuoco et agito." She looks extremely flustered, before finally managing a, "I am sorry, it is difficult now. Maybe later?"

Aria paces the perimeter, stopping long enough to blast the ground outside the barrier with her weapon's blue fire. She makes as if to move on but stops, her attention caught by the fire she just created. The fog stays away from it, creating a barrier before creeping back in and suffocating it. She then resumes her pacing.

Approach Aria.
She stops as you approach, watching you warily. "You're going out there, aren't you?"

Yes.
"If you find anything odd or out of the ordinary, let me know. And if you come across something..." She trails off, looking away. "Look, let's just say that if you have anything interesting, I'll pay you for it. Or owe you a favor. Deal?"

Ask why.
Are you a Mist?

No.
Aria ignores you.

Yes.
"It's no secret that one of our own is currently afflicted with this... Insanity," she answers, nearly spitting the word out. "If we can get our hands on something, anything -" She stops. Considers. "I suppose," she begins again, "That getting something that would benefit all of us would also be ideal, not just Mists."

No.
Aria shrugs and resumes her pacing.

Jude pretty much made it to the camp in one piece, part of his scarf was in Ariane's hand though he reclaimed it for the time being to go get a bandage. He almost checked in with Caelius.

..Almost.

Then he recalled he didn't have much to report to ...well...Any of the leads so he just paused a moment to wait for the others before he just left again.

Deryk came in with Jude and paused to look over towards Caelius. He didn't look happy and.. was that blood? Yeah, better not approach. Fidgeting a bit, the trainee picked up his supplies and went on back out into the fog as well. These bandages could come in handy later... especially if they ended up running into more horsemen.

Oooh he was not happy to see those guys around for sure.

He hoped that Bul was alright too for that matter..

Ariane only gave Caelius a very brief look - it wasn't as if she had much to report, and he was just going to say something unpleasant to her anyway. She could already see it coming. Since she didn't know any of the leads that well, she didn't feel the need to stop for long - just long enough to grab herself a bandage, and then hightail it out of there.

"This is some serious bullshit- goddamnit Ariane, wait up, how the ******** was so small. How did she move so fast? Robert barely had time to grab a set of bandages before jogging off after her, keen to sticking with the people who'd been leading him around for this entire mission. If he'd seen Jordan, he would have abandoned the group - but at this point, he wasn't abandoning anyone.

Except maybe Jerry. He'd abandoned him a little bit.

"ARIANE SERIOUSLY CAN YOU JUST STOP christ I'm going to have a heart attack-"

With a quick snap the stream of flames from her weapon ended as Aria released the trigger, her face set with a grim expression. She turned away from the fog, her eyes scanning over the camp. Her expression tightened before it smoothed out into a neutral expression as she left the perimeter. The division wove her way in between hunters until she came upon the group of hunters with runic laptops.

Her hand descended upon Mark's shoulder. "Mark, were you able to get in contact with Deus yet?"

It was almost comical the way Mark stiffened at Aria's approach. He seemed to be trying very hard not to look a a very ample portion of her boo- err ches- errr oh look a distraction

"Uh, what?" He said rather intelligently, scratching his chin. Finally the words caught up to him. "Oh, outside of severed communications, the portal, the uh, portal, like you mean the one that doesn't exist thanks to all this-" he lowered his voice a bit -"Insanity biz going on? I think it's actually kind of funny noone can teleport out, the division leaders are pissed and- oh wait you're a division leader aren't you okay shutting up uh, have a nice day...miss- sir Aria ma'am."

Mark visibly scuttled away.

As the death assistant scuttled away, Aria grimaced and wiped her hand on her coat. So much for that.

She retreated to the perimeter of the camp and resumed her patrol.

People! Civilization! People she recognized! Candace gave a cheer and very nearly threw herself at the nearest Hunter in a hug, thankfully refraining from making such a complete idiot of herself and doing that when she caught sight of a few leaders. Namely Caelius. She was not going anywhere near him. Aria? She'd go to Aria any day. She approached her leader, being careful to avoid any flames she was shooting from her weapon. Aria looked up from what she was doing and watched Candace. "You're going out there, aren't you?"

Er..what? Candace blinked. "Ah..sure, I guess..." If Aria wanted her out there then fine. She'd go out there.

"If you find anything odd or out of the ordinary, let me know. And if you come across something..." She trails off, looking away. "Look, let's just say that if you have anything interesting, I'll pay you for it. Or owe you a favor. Deal?"

Candace frowned. Ah, that was why. She glanced back away from the base and sighed. Aria had asked for help...fine. "Yeah, sure...I'll go now then. Wish me luck?" Grinning to hide her worry, Candace turned on her heel and ventured out of the camp.
