The commission went off with absolute secrecy and N'mol caught up with Kindra shortly after she had left the Trader's wagon. They spent the rest of the afternoon together, browsing other stalls, talking, and N'mol even joined in the fish-catching competition. Of course, the fish were destined for the firepits anyway, but it gave the meal that much more sparkle.
N'mol and Kindra had purchased their food and laden down with plates, cups and a skin of fruit juice the Bronzerider picked out a suitable place for them to have a good meal.
"Here, quick, before someone else sees it." N'mol quickly led the way through the throngs of people around them, squeezing through with apologies tossed both ways, and found them a dimly lit corner of cleared ground.
"Maybe I should have bought one of those bolts of cloth. We could have use it as a blanket," he commented as he leaned the sin against a rock and set his plate down so he could hold Kindra's while she found a comfortable spot.

Kindra was slightly smug, she'd managed to keep the parcel a surprise from N'mol, saying it was just some material for making clothes when she had spare time, he'd seemed to buy it. "If someone does i'll make them move" she said, softly but matter of factly. She moved after him, without the apologies, and eyed the sand "A blanket would have been good" she sighed but settled down on the sand and taking her plate from N'mol.
"Sit down already" she said with a chuckle" sometimes his politeness was frustrating but at the same time, it was endearing because she knew that unlike most other people, N'mol did it because he wanted to, not just because she was a Goldrider. She sighed, glad that it was a more dimly lit area, the Harpers were getting ready to play.

N'mol folded into the space beside her at her invitation, managing to find room for his not inconsiderable legs without having to jostle Kindra. He took a bite of a meatroll from his plate, then broke the remaining piece in half and fed half to Valkyrie, who had landed on the rock the juice was resting against. She happily gobbled the morsel from his finger, leaving N'mol to dig in to some of the more savory things on his plate. Truthfully, they weren't much different from what might have been served in the mess hall on an average day, but the amounts were larger and the Gather atmosphere always made any food you received seem like a feast.
He didn't need to point out that they would manage with or without ground cover, but he was glad that their clothes weren't the type of fancy Gather garb that would have objected to the rough treatment even sand would offer. His riding leathers suited him fine, for now, though he knew he was going to have to remedy his lack of finer clothing at some point. He needed to present himself in a good light as a Wingleader, and that meant dressing appropriately (and in a way that wouldn't showcase his age any more than he had to).
"I'm glad some of the Harpers managed to make it. It wouldn't be a Gather without them." N'mol spared a brief thought to past Gathers at Benden, and then fed the other piece of meatroll to a begging, whining Valkyrie and enjoyed another bite of mashed tubers for himself. "I have to make a stop a t the vendors later, before they close. Did you want to wait here or keep me company? I promise that we'll do whatever you'd like afterward." He grinned at her and placed a hand to his heart to show he was being honest. "After all, you are the lady, and a gentleman does what the lady likes."

Kindra sighed happily as N'mol sat beside her, she, for once, didn't particularly care that her clothing would get a bit dirty. The only thing that could have made this day better would have been being home... in Benden Weyr. She leaned against N'mol as she ate slowly, sipping lightly at the fruit juice he had brought.
"Me too, i always liked it when the harpers played back at my Hold when i was little" she chuckled "i used to dance too" she admitted with a silly smile as her mind went back to those times, before her mother was sick, before life began to get all complicated. The memories were fuzzy on the actual happenings but the feeling of happiness and freedom were as strong as ever and she sighed, she eyed Valkyrie begging for food and smiled as her mind was brought back to the present. She'd asked someone to feed her flits and she hoped they'd done so, Fury hadn't burst in scolding her so she assumed the Gold and the Brown were still guarding the - oh so little - egg back in the hut she shared with Narisa.
She snapped out of her thoughts as N'mol spoke again "What? .. oh.. yes of course, i think i'll stay here and keep our spot" she said, wishing he didn't have to leave, even for a few minutes, she could have stayed in that moment for a lifetime. She thought as the music began slowly but picked up a little pace and some were beginning to dance "How about joining that bunch after our food has settled a bit?" she suggested, her smile for him, lovely.
