User ImageRolling over in the flowers was one of Melda’s favorite things to do. They smelled so good and of course that in turn made her smell good and the colors! Oh the vibrant colors where one of the best things about flowers. Most of the flowers were gone this time of year now. So instead she amused herself by running with the colorful leaves and rolling in leaf piles that she painstakingly put together. Standing up she looked around. She was a bit far south almost on the very edge of neutral land’s bordering the Six’s lands, but that wasn’t a big deal to her, after all she was all alone out her as far as she could see. Of course she did do the responsible thing and check for strangers every so often, but it was hard. She kept getting distracted with fun things. This one time she saw a leaf that she swore looked just like an Azrein’s head. The thought of it made her chuckle, maybe she should go back and find it again later, then she could try and reach in the tree and get it. She was one hundred percent sure that if she was careful enough she could keep the leaf all winter long until spring when the flowers came out.

User Image Punk C.A.B. was walking around and just doing what he wanted to do, as usual. Which, at this moment, was wandering towards the neutral lands. He hummed to himself as he walked, pausing when he saw a flash of green and red move across his vision. "Helloooo, who's this?" he mumbled to himself, locking his gaze onto what he identified as a beautiful mare. Punk hadn't seen her before. Wow, she was gorgeous. He trotted over in her direction, whistling a tune as he went. He wondered what she was like? She seemed to be the type of Azrien that liked to have fun. That suited him just fine. Hopefully she wasn't obnoxious. He hated that. Spunk was perfectly fine, but there was no need for that senseless name-calling business. He also hoped she wasn't one of those mares that was shy around everyone. What was the fun in that?

Trying very hard to remember what tree she had seen that funny leaf in she almost didn’t see the Azrein approaching. By chance as she turned her head a spot of red caught her eye and she naturally turned her head the rest of the way to see what it was. A amazing looking stallion was coming toward her. He had wings and feathers on his head. It made Melda giggle as she walked up to him. “Hello there.” Her voice was warm and she was happy. “You don’t happen to work for the Six do you?” Tact was not Melda’s forte. She didn’t think such a pretty stallion would work for the six but if he did then she supposed she’d have to run. If he didn’t then maybe he would help her hunt down that leaf. She smiled at him trying to figure out which was the brighter red, her mane, or his head feathers. After a moment she decided it was her mane.

Punk C.A.B. blinked. Well, that was an odd way to conversation. He couldn't help laughing. "Sorry, I've never had a conversation start this way. I'm Casimir. Most people just call me Punk C.A.B." He thought for a moment about her question, trying to think of the best way to reply. Since she'd asked the question, he assumed she was a human-aligned mare. A slight disappointment, but still not enough to send him back into the Six's lands. "Well, I can't speak for others, but this songbird follows his musical soul first and others second." He tilted his head as he inspected the mare further. "...The Six, huh? Supposed I was aligned with them? What would you do then?" he inquired, flashing a teasing grin at the intriguing mare.

He had a sweet laugh it was full and deep. “C..A..B.. it sounds like something to eat.” Honest as the day is long she looked the male in the eye and told him just what she would do if he were evil. “Well if you were part of the Six I’d scream as loud as I could, probably kick or bite you and then run as far and as fast I could until I got away or got to a place where I had someone I could yell for help from. While I don’t really get what you said about music I don’t think you work for the Six, you have a nice laugh. Evil stallions are supposed to have creepy laughs I think.” She shrugged not sure if that was right or not, but she’d never meet an evil azrien so that was what her mind jumped to when she thought of them.

"It's an abbreviation. The humans who found me as a foal gave me an obnoxiously long name, so I shortened it," Punk explained. "But yeah... I guess it does like something you'd eat. Like cabbage." He blinked at her explanation. "Oi, oi, oi, isn't that a little harsh...? I mean, the Six have done some nasty things, but that doesn't mean every Azrien that follows them is exactly the same, y'know? Some horses just like dancing to their own tune." He laughed again at the mare's last comment. "I'm sure if I really tried, I could do an evil laugh for you. But seriously, Miss, stereotyping isn't a nice thing to do. Not all of the Six's followers are evil, bloodthirsty demons no more than all of the King's allies are angelic saints." The stallion shrugged, absently making a beat with his hooves. "Azrien move to all sorts of different rhythms, no matter what group they belong to." He remembered her comment that she hadn't understood his music reference--and that he'd just made quite a few. The evil Azrien smiled sheepishly. "Ah, sorry. I'm a musician. I tend to make a lot of musical references." This mare was interesting--really interesting. She was unlike any mare he'd encountered before; she stepped to a different beat, so to speak. He couldn't say he didn't like the change of pace. It was refreshing, in a way. Hopefully she wouldn't freak out too badly when she figured out that he wasn't a neutral or human-aligned stallion. Or maybe he'd get lucky and she wouldn't find out at all. Then again, he never had the best of luck; it was his one weak point. "So, do I get to know your name now, or do I have to guess?" he asked teasingly.

Now curiosity burned inside of her. She wanted to know the male’s long name. He couldn’t be an evil azrein if humans had named him so she trusted him explicitly. Nodding to his food reference she didn’t tell him that was exactly what she had been thinking of. She tilted her head and listened to him describe how just because an alignment was one way didn’t make the azrein that way. “Well I’m not a musican so I won’t get most of it but I’ll do my best and ask if I have any questions.” She listened to his hoof tapping on the ground and she had to admit the pace he set was kind of nice. It made her think of the wind picking up the leaves and dancing with them. “Besides my view might be a bit harsh, but really what else can I do? For the most part you aren’t going to find a lily growing out in the middle of the dessert. While not all the King’s Azrein may be sweet and nice I know I’m a bit safer trusting one of them then I am trusting an Azrein from the Six’s lands. There are a number of plants that smell sweet but if you eat them their poisons will slowly kill you.” When des things she naturally went to plants seeing as they were her favorite thing in the world to look at and see. “I do kind of want you to try and do an evil laugh. I think it’d be pretty funny.” She giggled at the thought. “As for my name.. mm.. well since you gave me a nickname I think I’ll just give you the same. Mm. Well Mel or Mer will do just fine. If you want to know my full name than I guess you’ll just have to give me yours even if it is obnoxiously long.” Tossing her head a bit she continued. “You could guess all day long and still not know my name. It’s very strange but I like it.”

"Quite frankly, music is more about feeling than thinking." Punk listened to her explanation, nodding slowly. "Makes sense. Though usually those sweet but poisonous types have colorful indicators, not everyone sees them in time." He smiled. "But finding a lily in the desert would be amazing, wouldn't it?" He chuckled when she admitted she wanted to hear his attempts at an evil laugh. "If you say so." He cleared his throat and thought of the evil laughs he'd heard before trying to copy the one that he thought he could imitate the best. It wasn't nearly as evil-sounding as the original, but it wasn't a bad start. Punk grinned sheepishly. "I guess I need to practice." Mel, huh? That nickname could come from quite a few different names. It would be even harder to guess since she said it was strange. "Well, Mel, if you simply must know, my full name is Punk Casimir Angelo Beethoven." He shrugged. "Apparently they couldn't decide on what type of Azrien I was."*

Well, he wasn't dealing with those humans now and he rarely gave out his full name, so it didn't matter much anymore. He wasn't planning on ever returning to that village. But her opinions about the Six's followers got him thinking. "So, if you're so opposed to the Six's followers, why are you so far south?" he inquired, genuinely curious. "Quite frankly, although your introduction question's a good one, I can't imagine all of the Six's followers being honest and announcing that they're your enemies." Which technically he'd sort of done, but he was just letting her make her own inferences about him. Other Six followers would've just outright lied and then hurt or even killed her.

(( *He's referring to the fact that the different parts of his name have such different meanings. ))

Not everything that’s poisonous has bright colors. Still I do see your point.” She giggled. “It would be fun to find a lily in the desert, but how do you know it’s not a trick of the heat?” He really did have a pretty good evil laugh. “Well you might need to practice but I’m sure you could get the laugh down in no time at all.” She grinned widely at him telling her his name. “Very well I like Angelo. You have wings like an angel and everything. Now I suppose telling you my name in trade is only fair. It’s Melda Merilwen Lothiriel. It means beloved rose flower. Though honestly more people just seem to think I’m more of an apple and rose mix. I think it has to do with my coat coloring.” She looked at her green coat amused. Her short tail flopped about as she shook it. “I never really thought about it that way. I just usually ask people up front about things and they tell me. Sometimes they don’t mean to, but I ask so fast it just comes out. Of course if I did ask a member of the Six, they’d get upset and attack so then I’d just implement my plan and get away.” She looked at him with such blatant honesty in her eyes it was hard to argue with. She was not the mare who could keep things to herself for very long and wore her emotions on her face and every other part of her body. It was one of the reasons why even if it was nice lie she found it very very hard to lie. “I’m so far south because I’ve been traveling all over nutral lands looking for the last of the flowers and seeing the trees change color. I love to see the plants change their colors and get ready to sleep for winter. I even found a leaf that looked like an Azrein’s head a while back. I want to find that one again and see if I can keep it until spring. I bet I could too.”

"Well, tricks of the heat mainly affect sight and hearing. So... If you lightly touched your nose to it or smelled it, it'd probably be real." Punk smiled at her compliment of his laugh. "Well, hopefully I'll never need to use it. The whole 'world domination' thing just doesn't really suite me, y'know?" Of course she liked Angelo. Her personality practically screamed that about her. "Guess so. Can't say I'm your typical angel, though." A wild angel, or maybe a fallen angel. But he was no saint. He smiled at her name. "Beloved rose flower, huh... so, would it be too forward and flirty to call you just Melda, then?" he teased. His eyes went to her short red tail when she shook it, but he forced his gaze back to her face and those beautiful yellow orbs that took in their surroundings with such joy. As he listened to her talk, it finally hit him why she seemed so different. She was so... honest. Open to the point of bordering on naive. But it was just such a beautiful, honest personality. "If you say so," he replied. "But be careful, ok? Some Azrien down south are more crafty than violent." He shouldn't have cared this much about this mare. But she was so pure, untainted by hatred or deceit, so enthusiastic about the nature around her. It was infectious. "If you don't mind me sticking around, I wouldn't mind helping you find it," he found himself offering.

Oh she had never thought about smelling an illusion to see if it was real or not. “What if it smelled but it wasn’t what you thought.” Could something look like something else and not really be there? It was an interesting thought. Though, him asking about calling her Melda was funny. Laughing she replied. “I don’t mind being called Melda, just don’t expect me to call you that too. After all you’re the Musical angel. I promise to be careful. It’s so nice of you to look out for me.” She looked at the trees off to her left. “I think I could use all the help I could get. The leaf was still on the tree when I noticed it. I don’t think it fell, but I’ve been looking at leaves for a while now.” She laughed. “I don’t even know if I could find it again but I am definitely going to try. I don’t mind having your around. Who knows maybe the music nature makes will make you find a tune.”

"Then it would smell like something other than what you thought it was," Punk replied with the most practical answer he could think of. "I mean, if you saw a lily but smelt a cactus, then it's probably not a lily." Punk eyes lit up at her laugh and following comment. "I don't mind that. After all, those types of titles don't really suit a punky angel like me." When she said it was nice of him to look out for her, he could feel heat rising to his face. Oh no. He was NOT blushing! "Not a problem." What was with him today? This really wasn't like him... He smiled. "Well, there's no harm in trying." Try everything once and twice if it doesn't kill you tended to be his style, after all. At Melda's mention of making a tune, Punk couldn't help grinning. "Well, I'd hope so. Nature's a good thing to get my muse going. And a muse is a horrible thing to lose." Now she had him rhyming. What was next, a love song?

Laughing Melda had to admit she loved C.A.B.’s wit. He was funny and smart. “You’re not Punky you’re.” Oh what was that word she had heard humans use to describe music that was different. “Non-classical.” That was right wasn’t it? Or was it something else? She really had no idea not spending too much around bards be they Azrein or human. She was unable to tell that he was blushing under his coat. She thought back to all the times she could have died trying to get a plant off the edge of a cliff or trying to hold her breath long enough to grab the base of a pretty water plant and decided to hold her tongue. She said she would be careful when it came to dealing with Arzein from the south she didn’t think he really needed to hear she was reckless when it came to gathering plants to. She nodded at him and then took off toward the tree where she thought it was. “Ok. I think it was off this way.”
PostPosted: Wed Oct 17, 2012 10:59 am

There was that heart-melting laugh again. Punk felt himself chuckling as well. "I'm definitely not classical. I'm an alternative musician." He grinned. "But I'm still punky. That's why I'm called Punk C.A.B." As Melda's thoughts wandered to her plant adventures, his own went to the many brawls and arguments he'd been in since leaving the humans that had raised him. He wondered what the green and red mare would think about the type of life he'd led--even more so if she found out that he followed the Six. Would she be angry? Would she do exactly what she said she'd do around an evil Azrien--attack him and flee? Or something else entirely. He was pulled from his thoughts by Melda's voice. "Alright. Let's start looking, then." His gaze went to the trees and the ground, inspecting them for that Azrien-head-shaped leaf.

(( I think that these to are going to get along really well. At least until Melda finds out he's an evil-aligned Azrien. ))

“Alternative! That was the word I was looking for.” She laughed. “Punky is ok I think. I suppose I might be a bit punky too.” Her braid moved as she kept her eyes scanning the trees for that elusive leaf. A few times she thought she might have seen it and got pretty excited but then she’d move and realize that it wasn’t the right one. Without realizing it she started to hum as she often did when looking at plants. The only difference was this time there was someone else around to hear it. Melda didn’t even know she was humming much less what tune it was but she was feeling pretty good and confident that she would find that leaf and then she’d be able to show it to C.A.B. She wondered what he might think of it. Perhaps it would inspire him to make a song. That would interesting and Melda wanted to hear him sing or dance or stamp out music with his wings or hooves.

(Actually there is no rule saying they can't be friends after that. An Azrein of mine Eri has an evil father who loves his mate very much and she's Good aligned. It all just depends on how it plays out. )
