Flòraidh gazed up at the sky, watching the tiny droplets of rain falling from shadowed clouds in wonder. Every now and then, she had to blink to keep the cool liquid from her eyes. Little drops from the autumn shower fell across her coat, sprinkles of light amidst a dark canvas.
Rain... falling water. She peered upwards in wonder, fascinated by the play of subdued light amongst the sparse sprinkles. Were this a true storm, she would have sought shelter like any intelligent being. But the mild autumn rain gave the opportunity for observation and silent contemplation.
Rain falling from clouds... are clouds floating water? How can water shed its weight to float high amongst the stars? She ruffled her wings, then paused and stretched one out to examine it curiously. The miracle of flight... do clouds have wings?
Within moments, she leaped into the sky and spread her wings, soaring upwards, propelled by her curiosity and rapid movements. She had never lost the spontaneous youthful interest that made foals do so many silly things. Instead, as she matured she discovered many new wonders... would she ever discover all there was to the world?
How many rains had she witnessed? How many times had she flown through a cloud? ... she'd never seen wings. What would make this time any different?
She sighed gently, halting mid-flight and landing softly on the ground.
Wee fool... 'course clouds don't have wings. ... but. But... then how does the water get up there?
She gazed upwards again, puzzled by the simple mechanisms behind this seemingly mundane occurrence. Drops of rain continued to fall, unperturbed by her silent query.

Sujieko shook a wing, attempting to get the water droplets out, but gave up. It was useless. His wings were to stay wet until the sun decides to show her lovely face. However, the stallion was not really perturbed. The slight discomfort was not much on his mind--his mind was elsewhere and nowhere, but everywhere was the soft splattering of the rain.
He did not mind rain. In fact, it seemed that he did not mind much these days. He took things as he went, never complaining, but never really relishing in them either. Instead, things just seemed to have taken on a rather dull, but peaceful monotony. The autumn rain was one of them. He could feel the droplets of water that the trees had not sheltered him from, trickling down his pelt, relaxing. The forest today had taken on a type of stillness. Everything seemed to have been held in suspension for the rain, the soft falling of pebbles. The stallion closed his eyes, immersing himself into the surroundings, but that did not last for he heard, through the raindrops, something land on the ground someway ahead of him.
A bit curious, but more of a way to actually do something than stand in the midst of rain, Sujieko moved towards the direction of the noise. The trees broke ahead, and there was a clearing. In the center, a dark figure. When he drew closer, he noticed that it was mare. Slight, with dark wings tipped with the red of roses. Her hair damp from the rain, yet she seemed somehow elegant. Enchanted by the sky. Enchanting. Lost in her own world.
He hesitated and decided not to approach as the mare seemed to be blissfully in her own thoughts. Any sudden movement would frighten her. When she came back to the present, maybe he would speak to her, if she noticed his presence that is. In the meantime, he would be content by merely observing her fascination. It almost seems as if she had her first taste of rain today.

No matter how puzzling it became, the natural world continued on- its cycle (if there was such a thing) unbroken by the questions of those who walked among it. Though she did not understand it, that did not mean that nature was full of inexplicable complexities. It just meant that she hadn't found the right answer yet. And even if she did.... how would she know? Would it just make a profound sense, far surpassing any sense of doubt? Would a rainbow shoot across a clear sky? Or would she just... know?
Her eyes wandered across the landscape, watching raindrops cascading from the leaves of the trees, trickling across the ground and collecting in small pools, and dripping from... the form of another of her kind. Her ears perked forward and her expression brightened.
Her parents had always warned her not to talk to strangers, but that was a simply silly idea. Why, if you never spoke with strangers, how could you ever get to know anyone?
A dazzling grin broke across her features, though its charm was interrupted slightly by a quick flick of her head- a raindrop had made its way into her nose, and tickled the soft flesh of her nostril.
"Hello there! Lovely day, is't not?" Her voice was pleasing, neither too high nor too low, with a touch of an accent from her father's homelands married with her mother's flawless Kawani.
Although his coat was saturated with rain, it reminded her of a fine wood-grain touched by warmth of the sun. Stunning blue eyes, more cerulean than her own silvery irises, gazed out from behind tendrils of pale forelock.
She waited for an answer, clear silver-blue eyes holding warmth and welcome. Oh... Ah hope he didn't wish t' be alone on this day.

A small smile crept on his face as he continued to watch the mare in her revelry. She seemed so peaceful, yet lively and curious all at once, like a young filly just opening her eyes to world but possessing the intellectual curiosity of a full grown mare. As the she returned to the present and began letting her eyes wander around the landscape, finally fixating her glance on Sujieko, he jolted. Oh gosh. He must have looked like such a creeper, stalker even, just standing there in the rain with a small smile on his face. No, no, his smile was gone now. It would not be good if the stranger thought that he was giving her creepy looks as he observed her. How would he explain this.
It was with a great sense of relief that he found that the mare was in fact happy to see him despite his strangeness. She had made no inquiry as to why he was suddenly there, but instead greeted him. Her voice was smooth, just the right octave and it held the tinge of an accent that he could not place. Perhaps he would ask about it later.
"Greetings. It is quite an...interesting day. Relaxing somewhat, the way the autumn rain falls quietly, in a steady rhythm, and the wind quiet. It lends a kind of stillness to land despite the sound of soft rain. What do you think?" He was quite interested in what kind of thoughts the mare was wrapped in to give her such a look of wonder.

When he returned her greeting, she smiled- relieved that she had not somehow intruded upon his peaceful day. Smiles and expressions of joy came easily to this kind-hearted mare, but she was not overly optimistic... she simply took the time to gaze at the world around her, and the others who called this place home, and appreciate life without being too caught up in passing judgement as to good or bad. Things simply were, and in most cases that was more than enough to coax a smile onto her pretty face.
She tilted her head at his description of the day as 'interesting', and listened carefully as he continued. She found herself nodding as he spoke, agreeing with his observations, the corners of her lips still turned upward. It was nice, to have company on this lovely day. "'Tis indeed." Did he really wish to know, or was he merely being polite in asking for her opinion? He seemed genuine, but, well, a question had been posed, and she would answer it! "The weather continues on without our input, does'it not? It's just always here, calming rain or tumultuous storm, pure sun or cloudy day... though our moods may be affected by it, we could not change the weather any more than we could alter the flow of time." Silver-blue eyes sparkling with curiosity at the wondrous world, she began to wonder how it was that time simply seemed to stand still upon the meeting of two similar souls. Every breath lasting a lifetime, every smile an endless visage. But, then, time continued on- it was just their accounting of it that changed, their perspective, or... did time really just stop for the meeting of twin souls? Suddenly remembering her manners, she flushed- though her dark skin did not betray her embarrassment. "Flòraidh be my name." her name, rolling so smoothly from her lips, contrasted with the abrupt nature and rather unpolished word-order of her speech. When she was embarrassed, her flowery phrases tended to give way to rougher syllables and haphazard structure. Silvery eyes gazed into stunning blue, as she awaited his reply.
