Aventine had a remarkable streak of luck when it came to running into people cursed into Chaos, so the moment she felt a faint tingle—a faint, odd tingle, she was making her way towards the source. The Page of Venus knew she still had a lot to learn, but she'd made a promise to herself to at least try. And that meant investigating, even if you were a little afraid to do so.
She walked, determined, throughout the park, glad when the signature didn't disappear before she got close enough to find the person emitting it, though when she arrived at where she assumed the aura was, she didn't see anyone.
It seemed almost like a cruel trick; she glanced around expectantly, feeling a bit like she'd been betrayed when there wasn't some fabulous, friendly being there to welcome her and give her some sort of praise for venturing into the unknown.
She placed her hands on her hips and let out a slightly huffy, mildly annoyed sigh, wondering where on earth she'd gone wrong and why this whole gig didn't come with an instruction manual.

Zirconia was creeping. Well, she was before she ended up in a small snafu. After getting so out of shape, the large cat was running up a long streak of overestimating her abilities. Which led her to tonight, in the park, stuck up a tree.
The indignity of the situation was almost too much to bear.
Her ears pointed straight up at attention at the sensation of a nearby knight, but an unfamiliar one. Well, that was probably for the best, versus someone like Niflhel who was constantly being berated by her for his stupid decisions.
Still, when she saw the pink clad knight pass under her she cringed a bit. Obviously the smart thing to do would be to ask for help, or wait until she was certain there was no one around and transform into a humanoid, but calling attention to herself seemed so embarrassing right now. She opted to let out a quiet 'mewl' and half hope for rescue and half hope she'd just go away.

Aventine might not have ever looked up in the tree if not for that mewl, but she'd primed her eyes and ears to look or listen for anything that might give away where she ought to be looking. She tilted her head back, one hand going to rest on her hat as she attempted to keep it secured to her head.
Finding the cat was easy enough; she contrasted with the darkness of the night. She looked, for a very short moment, before a smile grew on her lips. "Hey, kitty," she greeted, not one to feel in the slightest bit ashamed for talking to animals. It was a habit she'd learned from her father, who—while a silent man—had always seemed most warm-hearted when around his dogs. Well, and her; she certainly was his favorite.
Assessing the situation in front of her, she couldn't figure out why a cat would be giving such a weak little mewl; if it was a feral beast, it ought to have run. Which meant that she must be a domesticated cat—as she very well should have been; she was too pretty to be roaming the streets. She looked well groomed, with a gorgeous, fluffy coat that Aventine just wanted to touch. "What are you doing up there?" she added, eyeing some of the lower branches to gauge how feasible getting up to the cat was.

Zirconia's tail hung behind her, flicking back and forth as she looked down her nose at the pink knight of 'Aphrodite'. Or that was her first thought upon seeing the senshi symbol of her uniform.
"My name is Zirconia, actually. Not 'kitty'."
She started casually grooming her paws, pretending that she totally didn't need any help or anything. In fact she was gracing this knight by allowing her to know she was there.
However, she was tight lipped at the question of what she was doing, but she suddenly found herself mute when she tried to admit she needed a bit of assistance.

Aventine blinked up at the cat, seeming momentarily taken aback that she had opened her mouth. "Ah," she said, struggling for a proper response. "Ex…cuse me?"
The faintest hint of color crossed her cheeks, as if she had greeted an acquaintance with the wrong name or gotten her hand stuck in the cookie jar. She was immediately more on edge now that she knew that she was not talking to a normal cat, who could simply purr, bite, and ignore you.
Unless she had lost her mind.
Oh, God, that would be just icing on the cake. She was running around in funny little outfits one day, hearing animals talk the next.
Attempting to save some face—just in case this wasn't a massive delusion—she added, "Sorry, I didn't know you could talk or I would have, uh. Asked for a name before…assuming." Her tone changed from hesitation to mild disbelief. "—Did you really talk?"

Zirconia would've quirked an eyebrow, if cats had eyebrows, at the reaction before turning er nose up at the knight under her paws and swishing her tail behind her as she rose to stand on her perch.
"You must be new."
And Zirconia saw opportunity. She could probably jump on the knight, and then to the ground, and help herself. Her eyes darted, trying to calculate the jump, and not once considering that it may not be wise to use somone was a stepping stone with no warning, especial when you were twenty plus pounds of fluff.
"Don't tell me you haven't met a guardian cat yet. We're very important, you know," She said, trying to be conversational while she plotted.
"Then again, I suppose knights don't need us to wake up anyway. It's very unfortunate. Do you just wander around on your own and hope someone tells you why you exist? What a sad way for soldiers to gather arms."

Aventine couldn't help but feel a little insulted. Her lips pursed, though she tried not to let her self get huffy. She had to remind herself that cats, talking or not, were notorious for their attitudes.
"…Yeah, I'm new," she finally said, wishing it wasn't so obvious. "…And sorry for not knowing about talking cats or something. I got a crash course." And even then it all didn't really stick as much as she'd wanted it to. "So I guess I was sort of wandering around. But I couldn’t very well just sit at home and do nothing."
Well. She could have. And she might have enjoyed it, too, but considering how passionate some of the other people she'd met had been, she felt like she was obligated to take up the mantle she'd been handed. Not that she knew what to do with it, or even how to properly wear said mantle, but—she was going to try, damn it. Even if that meant letting strange, talking creatures berate you for not knowing everything just yet.

"I'm sorry," She really wasn't, but, pleasantries and such. "Maybe we should start with proper introductions? I'm Zirconia, guardian cat of the Black Moon royal family. And what is your title, Aphrodite Knight?" She caught the mistake after it came out of her mouth. Aphrodite didn't have knights. Parallel universes and corresponding symbols were confusing.
"And... Don't move," She said and moved fast to avoid allowing a reaction.
She jumped haphazardly, aiming for poor Aventine's head and then the ground. It wasn't graceful, but she did land on her feet, and there was absolutely no consideration for the knight she had just catapulted towards.

Aventine let out the softest yelp of surprise when the cat jumped at her; any creature landing on your head was bound to be unpleasant—particularly if the leap was unprecedented. In that split second that she saw that cat flying through the air at her, she thought about ducking—but it was too late. It wasn't painful by most standards, just surprising, and by the time Zirconia had landed on the ground, Aventine was clutching her hat to her head and spinning to look at the cat.
"On my head!?" she demanded, seeming surprised. "You had to jump on my head? If you'd wanted down you could have told me! I could have caught you or something!"
She didn't seem angry, just a bit perplexed. "I—well, whatever. Yeah, no. I'm not for Aphrodite, sorry, it's Venus. Aventine," she introduced a bit uncertainly, still a bit huffy that this cat had just jumped on and of her, like she was some sort of stool or something.

If Zirconia wasn't going to admit she needed help, she certainly wasn't going to admit that was the reason. Instead, the snooty cat just groomed her paws on the grass and looked up at Aventine with a 'what's your problem?' sort of stare.
"Right. Venus."
She stood up and circled the poor, agitated knight, looking her up and down like a piece of meat. "Well do you have any questions? I know everything," Exaggeration. "At least about how the universe works." Wrong universe.

Aventine looked down at the cat, naturally suspicious of her motives. She might have been more open with questions if the cat had been a little more forthcoming with her manners, but regardless—Aventine wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
"Oh, yeah?" she challenged, trying to retain a somewhat friendly tone even as she inquired. "If you know everything, then why did you call me by the wrong name?"
It wasn't that she doubted the cat and, hell, there was practically no denying that the cat had to know something that Aventine didn't. The way she carried herself, the way she really did seem to know everything? There was just some air about her. She had enough of a presence that Aventine was even able to resist wandering over and petting her. Something about that seemed almost unprofessional, and she was sure she'd made a bad enough impression so far; she didn't want the cat to leave before telling her anything.

Zirconia scoffed away the accusation of getting it 'wrong'. "I wasn't wrong, your planet Venus is Aphrodite where I come from. Same symbol and everything," She stated. It was too hard to get Zirconia to admit when she was mistaken, especially when she really was.
"What do you use for a weapon?" She asked casually, even giving an interested looking smile and still blatantly ignoring the indignity of the poor knight she was toying with. Sort of. It was hard to tell when cats smiled. But her tail was flicking back and forth with interest, even if it was just to add another bar in her knightly research database.

Zirconia's words brought Aventine more confusion, as she now had to worry about where Zirconia came from and if that made such a huge difference. Unless she came from Greece, because Greek Gods were always different from the more well-known Roman Gods, and maybe that would explain the haughty attitude.
Europeans.
God knows she knew enough of them—even missed most of them.
"Oh—this," she answered, not wanting to delay for much longer. She knelt a bit, to give Zirconia a better look at the perfume bottle she held in her hand. "It doesn't do much. Or, if it does, I haven't figured it out yet. Unless you count," she stopped talking for a moment to give the atomizer a light squeeze, sending the slightest plume of a fragrant aroma throughout the air, "that. That's all it does, I think. Do you have any tips on that, she who knows everything?"
There was only the slightest bit of teasing in her voice; Aventine might have been fooling around with the name, but she was at least genuinely curious. She didn't want to be making stupid errors if she could help it, and if Zirconia had any idea on how to make this thing do something useful, she was all ears.

Zirconia watched as the perfume spritzer unleashed particles into the air until they wafted down to her level, making the cat give off a squeaky sneeze.
"That's interesting," She said as she sniffled, even rubbing her nose with a paw in an overtly humanesque gesture. "Well, from my extensive studies of the otherwise mutated, such as yourself," No, she would never accept knights as a natural facet of the universe. The weren't in her universe, end of story. "I've gathered that the initial weapon granted is merely to be used as a training device. One day you will achieve something more useful," She said, nodding her head in assurance.
She didn't appreciate the 'tone' of the knight's final words, though, and shifted her front paws a bit before puffing her chest out. "I'll have you know I've been alive for over a hundred years and have been guardian cat to two generations of Moon royalty. I know enough!" She huffed in offense.

The woman blinked, feeling a bit bad for making the cat sneeze. Her feelings on the matter quickly ebbed when Zirconia actually provided her with some fairly useful information—despite the little jibes that came long with it. "Mutated? That's a lot coming from a cat that's probably outlived most normal humans." She didn't sound insulting then—simply impressed. Flopping onto the ground, she tilted her head from where she sat. "I'll bet you've got a lot of stories to tell. A hundred years? The things you must have seen. Those are stories I'd love to hear."
She let out a slightly dream sigh—and then just smiled. "Can I pet you, or is that unheard of for a guardian cat for two generations of Moon royalty? It's just, you're probably the prettiest cat I've ever seen. Is your fur as soft as it looks?"
