The party takes place in one of the main lobbies of Sidekick Academy, but it has been so heavily decorated in the spirit of Halloween that it's hardly recognizable. Dim lighting barely illuminates the creepy cobwebs that hang across the ceilings and the scarce furniture around you, and a mysterious fog curls about your feet.

Near the multiple entrances is a huge buffet table lined with all sorts of goodies and treats, and sets of tables and chairs lay between it and the concert hall. There's a live band playing up on stage, with more chairs lined up neatly for an audience. There's even a small area to dance up front, if anyone felt brave enough...!

Clowrey was not one for costumes.
She was not one for Halloween.
She was not one for scary pranks or frightening sounds or any of these eerie decorations.

No no no, Clowrey was not a fan of this holiday...She hadn't been for nearly 4 yours now.

Clowrey Eir, a young 17-year-old Sidekick but the alias of 'Shroud', sat with tense shoulders in the farthest corner of the room. She wore a grimacing smile on her face, and held her cup of punch tightly and sipped from it every few moments. Some of the younger students were dressed up in all sorts of outfits, and some of the older were too--in more elaborate ones, of course. Clowrey was not among them. Throughout the entire day before coming here, Clowrey kept flinching and getting annoyed at every little thing she came across. She nearly punched someone...well, maybe more than one, and maybe not 'nearly'...for trying to get perform a jump scare. Needless to say, now most everybody was avoiding the grumpy Clowrey...

...She continued to sit in that dim corner, near one of the entrances, staring uncomfortably at the ground...
She wasn't happy.

Theodore loved holidays where he could dress up, and not dress up in the sense that he was wearing frilly outfits and having to look formal, but in the sense where he could take on a role. Where he could make himself more or less than what he really was, which at this point was one of the last remaining Rookies of his starting class.

Admittedly, he was still having a hard time of it. Not socially, as he'd made some good friends in his year at the Academy, but more so in his role. What they felt he needed to be doing. It irritated him. He wasn't some pawn to be directed as they pleased. He was a person who did not particularly feel comfortable with his abilities being used or directed by forces other than his own will.

Despite this he pushed on in what he felt his priorities needed to be; controlling his ability. That was the most important thing. Right now, however, having a good damn time was his priority. And as he slicked back his greased hair with a comb, he was going to make damn sure he had a good time.

15-year-old Theo had made himself out to be a character from one of the more contemporary musicals he had been learning songs from for shits and giggles. Songs about racing cars and hanging out at night with girls on beaches and enjoying the summer loving thing. You know, dude stuff. Because he was a dude. He was a manly dude. And he grew a full inch from last year.

Checking himself in a reflective surface, he grinned. His fake leather jacket looked awesome, and the white t-shirt was all stained up with fake dirt and grease and his jeans were torn appropriately. He was studly. A studly, studly boy.

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxEven • though Avalbane had been in Metropolis for years, she still wasn't familiar with all of their holidays and traditions. This was mainly due to the fact that her family never partook in them. She had heard of birthdays though, that was the main one she could remember, but after that, everything started to blend together into one big hodgepodge of a mess that people called different holidays. Today was no different. On her way from her dorm room she shared with Violet, she saw several people dressed in funny looking outfits. Which was weird to say since all superheros had funny looking outfits. Especially the ones who were Sidekicks, which made Ava wonder if she would get a silly outfit when she learned to control her powers or what?

The children she saw running around were dressed up in what was refereed to as costumes. Or something, at least that is what it sounded like. They were also yelling trick or treat at each other as they ran down the hall and swinging orange buckets with faces on them. It was all odd. The people of Metropolis, and this planet, had the oddest traditions. One of them involved an bunny that laid eggs with chocolate inside them, or at least that is what it seemed like. Maybe Ava just didn't understand the importance of such things.

Although she wanted to partake in this holiday, she wasn't sure what to do to actually join in, so instead, she just headed down to one of the halls. As she passed one of the lobbies, the look of the room caught her eye. It was almost delightfully frightening and was something she was intrigued by. Why were there spiderwebs, skeleton heads, those orange round buckets everywhere. The smokey floor was interesting too. Avalbane just had to check it out. Stepping in through one of the entrances, she saw several students in those so called costumes walking around, listening to music, eating, and enjoying themselves. Over to the left of her, she could recognize a girl sitting in the corner.

After glancing at her a couple of times, Avalbane realized it was the girl from the Winter Ball, Clowrey she thought her name was. She didn't know the girl too well, but she couldn't recognize anyone else in the place, especially because of how they were dressed. Clowrey didn't seem to be dressed up differently, so Avalbane didn't feel weird not being dressed up either.

Since being at this school, she had come to feel more confident. No one made fun of her accent or her inability to spell things or write. No one really noticed. She felt like she belonged with these other students and was enjoying herself. With her new found confidence, Avalbane decided to approach Clowrey. "E-Excuse me. Hi, Clowrey roi? Is dis...Is dis sum kind av 'oliday party?" She didn't want to bother the other girl if she was busy, so maybe trying to make terrible small talk would let her know if she was bothering Clowrey or not.

Cowrey didn't notice the other girl addressing her right away, preoccupied with trying to burn a hole in the floor...But it wasn't too long before she looked up, realizing she had been spoken to. "Huh? Oh, yeah...It's Halloween," she muttered, "When people dress up in costumes and candy is given out, you can visit the dead, scare off demons, and things like that...Usually the first two things though." Well, didn't she sound enthusiastic...She took another long swig of her punch. She wasn't proud to admit, but despite having met this girl at the Winter event and that day for Valentine's...she never caught her name. Wouldn't she look silly, asking for it NOW?
...Oh ******** it.

"Sorry, what's your name again?" she queried, trying to offer an apologetic smile. She was somewhat thankful for some NORMAL conversation...

It has been exactly a year before when Argo came to this planet. Still not able to get off this floating piece of rock he and his friends were welcomed with open arms.

Argo shivered a bit and looked around. He was on his way to the dorms, making sure to get there to feed his little pets before they find his precious food stash.

He was almost there when he smelled something. Unknown reasons to him and to others, Argo was born with a great sense of smell...and appetite.

He smelled the warm taste of meats and drinks, apples and pumpkin....but there was also...something sweet?

"Woah!" Argo closed his eyes and sighed in bliss, kept on sniffing. "What is that smell?"

Argo then looked around and saw two, what he believed, his classmates who were from this planet.

"Hey guys!" Argo ran over to them and looked around too. Strange...? There were this little kids dressed up?....Yeah. That's what it was called. And they had this little things in their hands.

He over heard the word "Halloween" when he got there and came up.

"What is this Halloween? I didn't quite get that. And is it something this planet does for tradition? Also what is that stuff in their hands? Do also smell that great food?"

Argo shot off the questions one by one, barely giving them time to answer.

Agatha didn’t do social gatherings. She was as she’d always been, a hermit, keeping to herself, trying to master control of her heat, not setting this or that on fire or making them melt. Melting was still an issue with some things. She’d been trying to figure out how to control her body without the limiters but from ever test she’d been doing showed, it was likely that she’d need them to have any sort of ‘normal’ life. If her life could be considered normal by any means.

What was normal was a teenage girl dressing up and going to a Halloween party. That was what Agatha told herself in any event. Dress up, go out as someone you weren’t for once, not even as ‘Snaps’. Go out and try to be normal. Hang out with people. Maybe make a friend. Maybe. Of just go and eat some sweets and then go back to her room and finish reading her book on aviation. That was also a viable plan. Dine and dash on Halloween. The dash part just having some candy in tow. Nothing bad with that… right? Looking at herself in her mirror, the costume was pretty cute in her opinion, a witch. A little black and red witch. She’d been trying to go for a blood witch, but in the end she just looked like a witch with red accents. Close enough.

Fake fangs were supposed to complete the look but she opted to leave them out for now. They were uncomfortable, and she figured not really needed. She wasn’t Dracula after all.

When she arrived, people were already there. Agatha just shuffled her way to the snack table. So far operation find a friend? Bombed so fast the defensive forces hadn’t stood any chance. At least there were carrot sticks. Nice and cool. For now anyway.

It may have been a year since their crash but Nap had not lost all of his wariness towards their planetary hosts. The fact that they were so touchy and entirely too interested in the cute pink alien, did not help. Outside of his fellow aliens, few humans had managed to earn his trust.

Now Nap wasn't going to name names(mainly because in costume once again he was unable to recognize those he'd grown accustomed to) but a few students had cornered the little alien and managed to wrestle him into a costume of his own. Dressed as a little sailor boy, white hat included, the blond haired alien was allowed to escape, laughter following him as he disappeared down the hallway in a blur.

The moment they were out of sight Nap turned on his holo watch, taking the human form that gave him a sense of security. He didn't like wearing it but he drew less attention with it on. Her nervously rounded another corner in his attempt to put distance between his 'attackers' and himself. His flight was forgotten the moment he entered the large room. It was dim, dim enough that his protective goggles were unnecessary. The fog rose to his midsection and at first put him in mind of one of the students he'd seen. It didn't seem to be dangerous, at least, it didn't hurt to the touch so he moved on.

What was going on in here? Curiosity drew the short lad deeper in, he avoided the band and dance floor. He remembered all too well what music led to. The thought made Napoleon freeze. Would this be like the ball? Different outfits, people gathered, live music... The look was different but the basic elements seemed the same. He hadn't been summoned to the control room again though so maybe not. Either way, Nap gave the rounded room a wide berth, instead moving towards the buffet tables in the middle of the room.

Nap had grown accustomed to human food and had even found a handful of things he could call favorites. Insects were still not on the school menus but a variety of fresh uncooked fruits and vegetables had made their appearances among the daily fare. Even here, there was a platter of cut up vegetables with various dips that Nap bee-lined towards. In his excitement for the treats as he saw them, Nap didn't notice the young sidekick also eying the carrot sticks as well.

Halloween back at home for Basia consisted of not very much, her mother tried her best to get a turkey albeit a tiny one, and then there were a few vegetables for dinner. Halloween had never felt like much of a festival for her, and in her ignorance she thought it would be the same here at the academy. After all, she had no friends back home and nothing to really compare to her own traditions, so when the school started decorating itself in all sorts of things, Basia got curious. Research was first on her list of things to do; it took her a little white to decide what she really wanted to do. Her eyes would always stand out so she decided to go from there for her costume, and a demon seemed like the best choice.

It was hard getting everything Basia needed, but it was completely worth it. She borrowed a black wig from a friend who used it to hide her appearance; it had long hair that ended to her butt with a wave to it. For her horns she found some people who sculpted and they taught her to do the two horns on her head that would curl back and then small spikes to add to her body. Now that had been a fun activity, and the easiest to do. Next, she found black thigh high boots and added some fabric to try to give them some sort of scale look as if they were part of her. Basia was a little uncomfortable with her top, as it was a corsage that went down and also covered her bottom half but not enough, so that was fixed with some leggings. The rest was just make up and putting everything together.

Basia had forgotten wings, but hadn’t had time so she ditched the idea and went as she was. Probably no one would recognize her unless they peaked under the wig to see her blond hair. That was okay, she had wanted to blend in for once.

The main hall looked amazing, she had never seen so many decorations since Christmas and even then this was dark and Basia gapped with her mouth open. This was really exciting; everyone was either in a costume or not hiding behind a human looking costume of their own. It was a strange concept though, she was in a costume now, and before coming to the academy she used to hide behind a costume too. While Basia chuckled quietly to herself, she spotted the girl who had given her the wig and gave her a small wave, a thumbs up was returned and Basia headed to the snack table. That’s where she really wanted to be and she was going to stuff her face with so much candy she was going to be on a sugar high for the next few days.

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxAvalbane • was a bit surprised at Clowrey's description of what people do on this...Halloween. It was a strange holiday. Well, some parts of it were strange. Back on Ennis there was something similar, but it was to banish demons from people and prevent your body from being taken over. Also a way of thanking the Goddess for all she had done for them and praising her being. Almost all the holidays involved that last piece though.

Avalbane really liked the whole costume idea though. That was interesting. Why would people dress up though, was it so the demons couldn't find who they were looking for and just left? Usually the demons only went after people with weak wills and stuff. It was really interesting to think on, and maybe she should ask instead. "So, if oi dress up in a custom for dis...H'-halloween den oi git sweets?" That sounded like a win situation. However, she wasn't exactly sure what to dress up as.

Clowrey's last question caught her off guard though and made Avalbane feel a little silly. "O-oh. umm, oi'm avalbane. W-we..umm..met at de winter barl.." She looked away and rubbed her left arm. How embarrassing. She didn't want to come off like someone who remembered everyone and was a bit of a stalker. Oh no, that wasn't her idea at all.

Instead, Avalbane tried to play it off and just ask something else. Bring the conversation to a different area, especially since she had noticed Clowrey's outfit. "Waaat ye dressed up as?" She was very curious, it looked like a normal outfit. Ava tried to keep her eyes down though, still feeling a little silly.

"Well, that's usually the trade-off," Clowrey smirked, somewhat amused by the other girl's interest in Halloween. Ghouls or not, who didn't like sweets?
...Well, if you could still taste, anyway.
"And yeah, I remember...I also remembered I never asked for your name is all," she assured, stretching out a hand to shake with. "It's nice to finally make your >>acquaintance<<, she added, "I was wondering if things went well for you during the ball--Did 'ya ever dance? Heh, it kinda got...messy on my end." Messy? Talk about a food fight between Hack and BB with her, Isaac, and her father and brother in the middle of it all--not to mention the 'punch incident'.

'Thought I wiped that part out of my head already...'

She raised a brow at Avalbane's query, looking down to her attire and then back up:
"Uhm...This is what I usually wear...?" she replied with a slow, unsure tone. "I'm not exactly a fan of Halloween..."
