Her pawsteps were heavier than normal. Where once she traveled over the sand without leaving so much as a track behind her, the lioness' toes now sunk into the sand. Inia's violet eyes had lost some of their luster, now downcast and staring at the sand as she walked. She was sore all over, and a few of the cuts on her legs had opened up again, though they would quickly scab over in the desert heat.
It was a confusing situation for her. Inia was desperate for company, and had been so relieved to get it. But this wasn't exactly the outcome she had been looking for. The lioness couldn't decide whether or not she would prefer no company at all to this. Being alone meant cold nights, fear of the dark, and a growing fear that she may never see another living soul again. At least...at least with Lev she had someone to be with. Even if that someone didn't always seem to want her around.
But they...he must her love her, right? That had to be the reason Lev acted like he did. He was just showing his love in the only way he knew how...yes...that was it.
With a heavy sigh, Inia began to hum to herself, playing the lyrics of her mother's old lullaby in her head.
