 【where】 Thalia's hive
【when】 After a long night of running around Old Hemisect
【why】 With nowhere else to go, Thalia invites Khanda to stay at his hive for the day. His glorious hive under the sea was an incredibly relieving sight. Thalia hadn't been on that kind of adventure in some time, and boy was it an adventure! All Thalia wanted to do now was relax and go to sleep. Sweet, delicious rest would be his.
Entering his hive, he yelled to his Lusus, "I'm back!" Without waiting for a response, he swam over to his room, looking around. Oh, right, he needed to take off his masks. Unhitching the three masks from his belt, Thalia began to methodically place them back on the empty spaces of his rather impressive Wall of Masks. He could at least be organized before drifting off to sleep.
A big yawn escaped from his mouth, and he stretched his arms high into the air. As he opened his eyes from the yawn, there was Khanda. "Eeeek!!" Thalia squealed like a little girl. He had completely forgotten that he invited her here-- that she was here! There was another troll in his hive. He wasn't sure what Nereidad would say of this, but he better make an excuse now. What should he say?
"Um," Thalia looked down to Khanda, then back up at his doorway. "I have a friend staying over for the day! Hope that's cool!" Thalia shouted, one hand cupped by his mouth so Nereidad would hopefully hear.
This was awkward. He had never had anyone visit here before and this was his hive! The thing he built with his very own hands and-- she could see everything in his room. All the masks, posters of Troll Patrick Stewart, screenplays... the works. Thalia slowly died from embarrassment. He couldn't even force himself to give Khanda a proper welcome.

Khanda was very much interested in Thalia's hive. Just as he had never had anyone over before she had never been over anywhere before. It was a peculiar hive. It looked like bits of Old Hemisect, nothing at all like her own hive. As Thalia called out to his lusus (oh she wondered what he was like) she peered around. Her eyes immediately fell on the impressive wall of masks. There was quite a variety. Khanda wondered where he got them all. She went up to inspect a rather gruesome looking mask, but before she could so much of anything there was a sudden scream and she immediately perked up and looked towards Thalia in shock.
He seemed like he was just as shocked at her, like he'd seen a ghost. What was his problem? Looking around she saw nothing and returned her blinking gaze to Thalia. "What's wrong, Thalia?" she asked as continued to peer at him curiously. Screaming didn't seem very polite when you had a guest over. Maybe his lusus hadn't insisted on extensive lessons like her's had? Where was his lusus? He was obviously nearby, she wanted to meet him. Tearing her eyes away from Thalia she began looking around, trying to spot a bit of white flesh somewhere.

"Oh, nothi--"
Nereidad swam through the entrance in what felt like slow motion. What was he doing here? He wasn't going to embarrass Thalia even more, was he? Thalia couldn't handle this. Nereidad blubbed ever-so happily at the guest in his hive! My, another sea-dweller, how nice!
Cupped in his fins was a cornucopia of fish, which he gladly released into Thalia's room. The lusus said something about eating and that he hopped they had fun! Thalia could almost swear that that fishy-face of his produced what could be considered a smile.
Thalia wanted to disappear into his sweater. Nereidad was just littering food all about his room and glubbing nonstop to Khanda. Please, make it stop. What had he done to deserve this? He was supposed to be cool! The only reaction Thalia could muster was pained silence. He just had to endure this embarrassment (though it felt like an eternity) and it'd all be over.
A couple more blubs and Nereidad came over to Thalia, gave him a fishy hug and swam away. Thalia was frozen. The once-bad a** gangster detective lusus leader was now just a really embarrassed kid standing in his room. His cheeks were purple and his ego was deflated.

Khanda almost burt into giggles when she saw Nereidad. He was a wish with legs! What a strange looking creature! Look at all that fish he brought in! Was he expecting Thalia to eat all of them? As he started to glub the giggles she was holding in finally rushed out and she watched him happily. Having no idea what he was saying she just smiled and nodded before he swam up to Thalia and gave his charge a hug. Seeing the affection made her smile falter a bit. This would be her first day away from her own lusus. She wouldn't receive a prickly nuzzle before slipping in to her recuperacoon. Speaking of which. . .
"Thalia? Where will I sleep?" she asked as she looked around once more. She wasn't really sure what one was supposed to do when staying at another's hive. Then she suddenly remembered she never even properly thanked him for inviting her over! Stupid, stupid! What would Bessy say! Doing a little bow she said, "It is very gracious of you to invite me to your hive. I thank you for your hospitality."

"Thalia? Where will I sleep?"
His world was crashing down. Thalia hadn't thought that far ahead and now he was left with this mess. He thought of possible answers as he stayed still (and blushing). He only had one recuperacoon, but they both needed the sopor slime. Maybe he could give it up and just not do it for one night? No, he couldn't do that...
Khanda piped up, thanking him rather formally. It was a nice gesture, but one that Thalia couldn't return at the moment. He was too lost in his own head to worry about responding. Thalia needed to think of an answer. Finally looking over to Khanda, he examined her-- guessing her height and overall size. "We," Thalia hesitated. What was he doing? No, stop! Someone call the royal army! The words were coming out of his mouth, but his head was screaming no. "...could share just for the day."
Thalia wanted to beat himself over the head with one of the many fish floating around his room. Well, maybe not that, but he could do the next best thing. In his fit of madness, Thalia snatched a fish up beside him. He shoved it into his mouth head first, leaving the tail sticking out. Now he couldn't talk and say any more really, really stupid things.

Share a recuperacoon? Khanda looked over at the said object. Given her current size it should fit them both comfortably. Sure, why not? Nodding at the solution Khanda turned back just in time to watch Thalia shove a whole fish in his mouth. She balked and backed away from him, eyes wide in surprise. She was in complete shock at these antics. What on Alternia was he doing? The longer she stared at him the surprise ebbed away and hilarity took its place.
Pointing at him she burst out laughing. "You got. . . That fish. . . What are you. . . Just so. . ." she wheezed between laughs as she doubled over. She couldn't form coherent thoughts. Just the image of that tail flopping out of his mouth, it wiped away anything intelligent she could be thinking. Khanda eventually found herself on the floor clutching her stomach. She was glad they were underwater right now or else she would be suffocating from lack of oxygen.

Thalia's temporary insanity put Khanda into a fit of laughter. That was an upside: laughter to break all of this awkward tension that he was feeling. Coming to from his mindbreak, Thalia wasn't sure if he should laugh along with her or be indignant for being laughed at.
He cracked a smile, fish still in his mouth. He couldn't be angry at this ridiculous scene. With a chomp, he bit the fish in half. Thalia carefully swallowed the front, then the back. With a cough to segue back into actually speaking, Thalia moved a hand to the back of his head. "Oops... I guess I was hungry." Smooth operator.
"So, that was Nereidad you met." Thalia felt so strange. He never really had to introduce his lusus to anyone before. "He's really nice, as you can see." Thalia motioned to all the 'food' in the room, still a nervous half-smile about his face.
Maybe he wasn't thinking so well because the night had been so exhausting. The recuperacoon was calling to him, but he was too wound up to sleep right away.

Slowly regaining her composure Khanda slowly sat up on her heels and beamed at Thalia. "You're a funny guy." she chirped happily. It was then she realized that she too was rather hungry. Most of her night had been spent searching. Putting a hand on her stomach she looked at all the fish hungrily. It was then Thalia awkwardly introduced his lusus. Looking back at him she nodded. "Oh yes, really nice! I like him. He's funny like you!" she said with a slight tilt of the head and a smile. Then her gaze returned to the delivered food.
". . . Aren't you going to invite me to eat?" she questioned him. Normally she would have just grabbed one and begun to chow down, but she was currently in the home of another seadweller and this was his food. He was supposed to offer her it as she was his guest and she would graciously accept. That's how things were supposed to work. A fish drifted near her and she had to resist the urge to reach out and bite into it. She had to wait for him to offer. Being a proper high-class citizen was tough!

Oh, woah! Thalia knew Khanda was right. He was totally the worst host ever, jeez. He hadn't invited her to eat anything or sit somewhere, or whatever else you were supposed to offer and be polite about!
"Yeah! I was gonna do that," Thalia glanced around himself, opening his arms in a welcoming gesture. "Please, help yourself to any food, Miss Khanda. If you need anything, just ask." That sounded official enough. Now, he could give her a seat or something.
Thalia moved swiftly to the other side of his room, fetching a chair from his desk. He placed it beside himself and bowed slightly, directing Khanda's attention to it. "And you may take a seat, if that's more comfortable."
Okay, so he offered her food, gave her a seat-- he already said she could stay in his recuperacoon. Were there any other forms of politeness available to him at this point? Thalia gave himself an inward shrug, turning his attention to his Wall of Masks. Even though he took a few with him, he hadn't gotten the chance to use any that night. None of them really fit what he was going for. Still, they were nice to have around; they served as comfort almost.
"So..." The awkwardness would return if he didn't think of something to talk about. He couldn't grasp the typical cool persona he held while he was out and about in Alternia. This was the most personal place he could possibly be-- and another troll was there.

With that little formality out of the way Khanda swiftly snatched the nearby fish and bit into it hungrily. It tasted so good as it found it's way to her digestive sac. Spitting out a stray scale she watched as he set up a chair for her. "Oh that's fine. I don't mind sitting here." she said before taking another bite. As she chewed she watched him curiously as he gazed at his wall of masks. He started talking again, but trailed off rather quickly. If he didn't have anything to say he shouldn't open his mouth. Licking her fingers she filled in the empty space his single word had left, "Where's the toilet? I need to take care of some stuff before turning in for the day." She was able to stop herself from simply stating she needed to use the potty, aristocrats weren't supposed to talk about that, were they? Plus she did have some other things she wanted to attend to. Her hair needed proper prepping before slipping into the sopor slime. It was always best to prepare it before hand to prevent the slime just soaking her hair and making it stick up at odd angles. Not becoming at all. No, she made sure never to be afflicted by recuperacoon head.

The toilet. The toilet.
"Just go out the door! And down the hall. It's on your left-hand side." Thalia glubbed out in a hurry. He didn't know why he was so nervous about all these inane things and it was just becoming more and more of a bother. He had to keep it together, man!
What would Troll Patrick Stewart think of him now? He'd be ashamed at such a pitiful performance. Thalia doubted that he'd even acknowledge his existence-- a painful thought. Thalia would do better for his sake!
"I'll get ready to sleep, too." Thalia said in a much more natural tone. He would just go about his regular business, but make sure to accommodate Khanda's needs. It couldn't be too hard.
After Khanda left the room, Thalia let out a small sigh of relief. He floated by to his dresser and opened the top drawer, pulling out some folded clothes. They appeared to be all white without any markings on them-- very pristine. Hurriedly stripping out of his current clothes, he donned his new vestments.
Pure white pajamas.
Thalia reached back behind his head, pulling out his ponytail. His hair waved and wiggled in the water, no longer being contained by the hair tie. Thalia wouldn't be caught dead like this in front of anyone, but this was just a kid. No one else would ever know or see, so what was the big deal? Besides, no one looks fabulous all the time.

"Thanks!" she chirped happily as she rose from the floor and made her way out of his respiteblock. He sure was acting funny ever since they arrived at his hive, maybe she'd ask him about that when she returned. Finding the toilet with ease she did her business and then set herself in front of the mirror. Oh bother. She was too short. Of course. Stupid child body. Looks like she'd need to do some climbing. Hopping up on the toilet she did a bit of a balancing act before pulling herself up onto the counter. She was probably making a fair bit of noise, but she was finally sitting in front of the mirror so her thoughts were all on herself.
Untying the bows that supported her pigtails she let her hair loose and gave her head a bit of a shake, letting her hair float all around her. Then she reigned in her wayward hair and carefully braided it and twisting it up on the back of her head. She had to hold her ribbons in her teeth to do this. Oh this was so much easier with longer arms or even a helpful tusk to hold her hair in place offered by her lusus. Eventually she got her hair in order, complete with the ribbons wrapped around the braided bun to keep it extra secure. Admiring her handiwork in the mirror she then positioned herself so her feet dangled over the edge of the counter and removed her anklet before untying the cloth around her hip. Lastly she removed her necklace and placed the items on the counter before hopping off herself and gathering up her things once more.
When she returned to Thalia's respite block she blinked at him. He looked different with his hair down. While he had let his hair out she had reigned her's in more tightly. Oh well, to each his own. Setting her things on the chair he had set up for her she stretched and couldn't mask a yawn. This had been a tiring night. So much had happened! "I think I'm ready to turn in now." she stated in a tiny voice as the exhaustion of the night finally caught up to her.

When Khanda returned, she looked so adorable! Her hair was so neat and close to her head, but so very stylish. Thalia approved of her continued efforts to look nice even while sleeping.
Now, how exactly were they going to do this. Khanda could go in first and-- get crushed completely by Thalia. That was a terrible idea. Maybe Thalia could go first and then she'd go on top of him? That seemed pretty awkward. He turned to his recuperacoon and thought for a moment, tapping his foot. There should be enough room for them to both fit comfortably on their sides, maybe. Thalia decided that that would be the best course of action for this morning.
"Yeah, that's a good idea. I'm tired, too." Seeing Khanda yawn made him want to yawn, too! How evilly contagious. "I'll get in first, and then you can come in after me. Does that work?" He still had to be courteous to Khanda. He would probably go along with any suggestions she had on the matter despite her being a child.

Khanda peered at the recuperacoon. That seemed like the most logical course of action. She nodded at his suggestion. "Yeah, that sounds good." she replied as her eyes drooped a bit. She was not used to wandering around on foot for hours at a time. It had all been made worse by her short limbs having to work twice as much as they would have had she been her proper size. She couldn't wait to slip into the comforting slime. A good day's sleep would do her good. There was more of what transpired tonight in store for the coming night. She needed to be ready.

With her response, Thalia made his way to the side of the recuperacoon. He grabbed the edge and lifed himself up, getting in feet first. He eased himself into the sopor slime slowly. Ahhhh. This was pure bliss-- a much needed relief from the unrelenting night. He sunk into the slime 'til only his head was popping out above it. He closed his eyes, just about to drift off, when he remembered Khanda.
"You can come in," he said, opening his eyes and giving Khanda a small smile. He couldn't hold back any longer and let out his own big yawn. "Good morning, Khanda." Thalia smacked his lips tiredly and closed his eyes again.
