Amevaa'ngozi was growing cocky.
He was a sturdy male, larger than many hyena of the male sex, and he had been trained to kill, as those who came from his pack all were. It was highly matriarchal, as most all hyena packs were, but the males were not as submissive as most. In fact, the males were looked on as equals and while their female counterparts were, as usual, larger, they were all trained to defend the pack and kill those who posed to great a threat. The burly, tan male had journeyed away from the pack lands on a simple scouting mission. He'd left his skins with his siblings, choosing on this particular day to go unclothed. His peach hued fur gleamed in the sunlight, showing his particularly good health.
He was in his prime and he had fought on many occasions. He'd killed a lion for it's skin, which he wore with pride. His pride would prove to be his folly. He pressed his tan nose close to the almost barren land on which he traversed, inhaling all the scents his sensitive nose could ferret out. Gemsbok had passed this way none too long ago, as well as a couple of rogue lions. The scents were fairly faint, as it had been a couple of days since they had gone this way. Still, he made note, before urinating along the borders and moving out past them.

The leopard was feeling particularly cocky. Which wasn't uncommon for him, but it was his favorite feeling. He was a big leopard, and he had rivaled even large lions without breaking too much of a sweat. Scars riddled his body, and he considered each one a warning. The putrid smell of a male marking his turf hit his nostrils, and Levyathan flinched. He hated the smell of dog. He wasn't sure why the smell of dog alone pissed him off, but it did. He considered them vermin. So when the scent of the hyena hit him, he let out a low growl. He didn't really want to torture them.. He preferred outright killing it. His footsteps were heavy, as he didn't care who heard him coming. Even if the hyena heard it before he got there, it would just be the canines lucky day.

Amevaa'ngozi heard the leopard before he saw him, this due to the fact that his attention was drawn in the opposite direction and the leopard's steps were heavy. He turned his tan head, his lips drawing back in a snarl as the beast approached. He was large for a leopard, but the hyena was undeterred. He was not afraid and that was his downfall. He was a young upstart and lacked the healthy fear that would keep any sane hyena safe. He did not know how to pick his battles.
After all, he killed a lion. He could do anything.
Or so he thought in his mind and this was what held him firmly rooted to the spot, his tail flagging and his slightly crimson tinted teeth on full display towards this new enemy.
"This is pack territory, leopard. I suggest you turn around."

Levyathan realized the hyena was not afraid, when it came to him with it's petty threats. As if Lev actually had the time to care about what this canine had to say. He already didn't -really- like canines. But this one, was going to get on his nerves and he could tell. "Your suggestions are completely unneeded. I do not care who lives here, I walk as I please." He said, blinking slowly. He stared at the hyena, his golden eyes glaring daggers. Almost daring the foolish canine to step forward to give Lev an excuse to sink his teeth into him.

"Walk where ya please, my a**." The hyena challenged, his tan pelt bristling as he sized up the offending leopard. A snarl was firmly etched on his features as he scowled at the beast. It was definitely a challenge and he'd not let the leopard trespass on their territory, not on his life. He was supposed to be watching the borders and he'd not fail at this task if he could help it.
"So you can either turn right back around and go back where you done came from, or we can do this the hard way and I can escort you out with my teeth. Your choice, cat."

Oh this hyena was dangerously close to death. The leopard could feel the canine's blood running down his throat already, and he smiled. He was unafraid, though that was usual. He didn't care if he died, really he didn't. But he didn't think he was going to die anytime soon. So his fear which cautioned normal lions, didn't affect him whatsoever. "Oh, I didn't think you were going to invite me to fight. That sounds.. rather thrilling." He said, a growl emitting from his throat. He began to circle the hyena, his claws out of their sheaths. He looked at him as if he was a fresh kill, ready to be eaten. Lev was a cannibal, he ate anything, he ate everything. "Come on, friend. Let's see who's teeth are bigger."

"You're making a real mistake, cat."
Amevaa challenged with a growl, ears flattened, as he slowly circled to the right of the leopard. He wasn't afraid and that would lead to his undoing. His fangs were ready to rip and tear. He was angry and he was hungry. Predators didn't tend to taste that great, but in the savanna, meat was meat and leopard meat would do.
The pale furred hyena sprang forward, fangs and claws at the ready as he sought to grab his target, preferably by the throat, but he knew this fight would not be an easy one in the slightest.
