...Kera West really was going to need to stop skidding along asphalt. Really, this was the third pair of sneakers she'd burned to rubber in the last week. No wonder her pension was generally spent in Shoe Carnival. Sighing, Kera resolved to get on 'melt-proof' shoes as soon as she returned home.

Shaking her head, she stepped out of the alley that had been so unfortunate as to have her zip through it, and into the streets of Binder Square. When was the last time she'd been to Fawcett? At least a month she figured, thanks to college. Which really was sad considering it only took her a second to get here. But with the Sentries and school even she was having issues with time management."Note to self, visit more often." Kera muttered to herself, hands in her pockets and eyes on the sky.

((Gah. Since I doubt Manhattan's going to be moving anytime soon... I figure we just knock that out of continuity or something.))

Not long after the new arrival in Binder Square, an older teen boy walked out of a bookstore with a set of books in hand-- the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy, since he had wanted to buy it for some time now.

He looked around and noticed his girlfriend and fellow Sentry, Kera West-- secretly known as Wonder Girl, or Rush. It had been about a month since her last visit to the city proper, so he was happy to see her as he jogged over.

"Hey Kera!" he said happily, a boyish grin on his face. "What's up?"

Kera turned as her name was called, catching sight of Freddy. Automatically a crossed her features."Heya Freddy." she greeted. It had been awhile since she'd spent time with him, well aside from team expeditions. "Figured I ought to come visit Fawcett, apparently it has some of the nicest people on the face of the Earth. Or was that the best shake shop?" Grinning, she took in the books and cocked her head to one side. Lord of the Rings? She hadn't read those yet...

"Why can't it be both?" Freddy replied with a grin, looking down and seeing she was barefoot, and he chuckled. "Lost another pair of sneakers, huh?" he asked, looking back to his girlfriend as he took one of her slender hands and brought it to his lips. Like a gosh-darn gentleman.

Her grin softened a bit as he took her hand."Both is perfectly okay with me." She did, however, sigh slightly at the mention of her shoes. "And I lost my socks...those were my favorite socks..." Shaking her head, Kera suddenly brightened and pressed a quick kiss (and quick with her was rather fast...) to his cheek before zipping off to the Sentry base and returning with a pair of flip flops in hand. "So what have you been up to?" she asked while slipping them on. That was Kera, jumping from one subject to another without a second in between.

Freddy grinned as Kera came back. "I've been pretty good. Senior year's still a pain, but apart from that pretty good," he said, books in hand again, and he took Kera's hand once more and started walking with her.

"So, what brings you back to Fawcett? Just to visit me, or were you planning on scarfing down all the ice cream in the Pop Shoppe?"

Senior year had been a pain, even by Kera's standards. And if thought it was a pain, then it had to be. He had more patience than Athena. "I think scarfing down ice cream and visiting with you sounds just about right." Kera did after all, take her ice cream very seriously. She didn't like it as much as she did Freddy, but it was up there on her Top Ten List."What exactly are you reading?" she asked, eyes curious as they settled on the books in his other hand.

"The Lord of the Rings-- It's a trilogy of fantasy novels and they're pretty famous, considered modern classics even. The movie trilogy came out years ago, and I got to see them a few years back. never got to read the books until now, though," Freddy replied with a small smile as they walked.

Modern classics? Wasn't the point of being classic coming from another time period or some such nonsense...Homer was a classic, and Kera hadn't been allowed to read too much of him as a kid."They have movies? Can we rent them sometime?" Because knowing her attention span, the books would be done in either ten minutes or not for ten years.

Freddy grinned. "Oh sure, most definitely. Might actually be able to buy them actually," he said as the moved into the Pop Shoppe, a malt shop and one of Fawcett's favorite hangouts for kids and teens.

"Awesome!" First off, movies with Freddy meant spending time with him in general, and in a normal teen sort of way. Heroing about was fun, but terrible for dating, really. Second off, television thrilled her. Seriously, most people knew by now to hide the remote or she'd flip through the channels faster than most can handle.

And then, naturally, as Freddy headed towards the Pop Shoppe, Kera's thoughts veered to chocolate malts, poodle skirts, and Elvis.
