"Enough."

Though the voice rang in their heads, just like the fog, just like the other voices, it seeped through the chaos around each and every Lost Clans and Lost Clans initiate. A familiar voice, strong and guiding.

"Those of the Lost Clans, find me. Travel the path back to your true home."

There were some already so lost in the Insanity, their forms monstrous and terrible that were beyond the salvation of the voice of - Medea's - instruction. However, for those wounded seeking solace, her guidance came as an immediate relief.

It was the smell actually, a distinct scent, a fragrance of thick smoke and burnt ash that seemed to cut through the fog, clear and precise. It was that smell that became something else, a clearly lit path that each horsemen could easily follow, that lead to a small window of space just beyond the thickest fog.

A small open space, a pyre burning in the center, flickering, the source of the fragrance. For a second they almost seemed back at the Lost Clans sanctuary, right inside Medea's tent: the feeling was just as familiar and overpowering. Several horsemen greeted the travelers, stationed in a perfect square around the small enclosure, staring warily at the fog that seemed to curl around an invisible wall in front of them.

Medea herself however, seemed ill-suited for the current setting, an extra layer of blanket curled around her existing cloak, as if protecting her from something, her appearance almost gaunt, aged as she huddled close to the pyre, staring into it blankly. Upon prompting, she did not stop looking into the flames, muttering a few words with crackled lips, her blackened fingers reaching for something beside her.

Several vials, filled with a familiar liquid. Her mouth barely moved, a few words came out, louder through mental will alone. "Take these. Save them."

She continued to stare endlessly into the pyre.

OOC

ALL HORSEMEN:

- When you are done with your boss fight, or whenever convenient (even if you are in a few threads at the moment) ICly drop by and pick up a vial.
- Vial special effect: You may use this vial once ONCE A DAY PER Horsemen. You can only use it on a boss mob with LESS THAN 25% OF THEIR HP. So that's 15/ 60 HP, for mathematically non inclined people.
- Using it on a boss mob with LESS THAN 25% OF THEIR HP will revert the boss mob back to normal for 1 IC hour. It is a TEMPORARY relief, and will temporarily attempt to "hold back" the Insanity. After an hour however, the symptoms start kicking in again (paranoia, suspicion and then the strong urge to go Home) as those cured return to boss forms
- BASICALLY IT MEANS ICLY the duration for the cure is 1 hour, but OOC it is UP TO YOU how you want to plan it. Ie you could leave your character like that for a few OOC days or just a few hours, depending on what rps you are doing.
- This is a good chance to allow boss mob characters to return back to normal so they can get their RP jollies out. Boss mob characters returned to normal are ENTIRELY CONSCIOUS of what they have just done. sad Do they feel guilt? Who knows!
- Also make sure before curing someone that you have their OOC CONSENT FROM THE RPER TO USE IT ON THEM. This is just to avoid potential overlaps thank you!

It didn't take too long before Tseng managed to find the tent, with the help of Medea's guidance. However, upon entering, he froze as he saw Medea herself. She did not look to be in a very good state. She was staring into the flames, muttering to herself.

To the side, he saw the vials.

Picking one up, he looked it over. With a deep breath, he clutched onto the vial and nodded.

"I shan't fail you."

Tseng led the way to the tent, and Medea's guidance simply told Soren that the soldier knew where he was headed as he escorted the priestess beside him. Still, the guardian was not prepared for what he came across. The High Priestess, in such a state.

He moved forward, freeing his arm from Nergui's so he could stoop, picking up a couple vials, one going into an almost hidden pocket before he stood. "It shall be done Priestess," he said solemnly before holding out the other vial to Nergui. He tore his eyes away from the Priestess to look to the others. They had a mission, and combined they were a formidable force. Tseng had already shown a willingness to carry out the new orders, but they all had to make their own decisions.

He was at least spared from that. A priestess' command. There was no decision to be made.

Medea must have used a great deal of energy to provide this, as she looked incredibly fatigued as Kiwi filed in. Not wishing to disturb her, he quietly picked up a vial, turning it experimentally in his palm. The aura emanating from it seemed to be far more powerful than anything the Famine alchemists could produce. He pocketed it with a soft smile to his clansmen, and a silent but grateful nod of his head towards Medea. Somehow, the Famine boil had a sense that something dark indeed loomed on the horizon. This would be a long battle.

His fingers curled around the kiwi bird charm dangling from his wrist, feeling the warm glow of the shard embedded into the bracelet. Again, he silently prayed, Totem, please be with us in this. Give us all strength.

Nergui's steps slowed as they neared the pyre and the cloaked figure of the priestess sitting beside it. This wasn't the Medea Nergui recognized, but there was no doubting that it was in fact her. None other could sing through their minds and call them together, leading them by scent and will. "What's happening.." It hurt her heart to see their leader like that, but what could they do?

She took the vial from Soren as he offered it to her, dark fingers curling tightly around it. "Yes." It was answer enough for Nergui. she didn't really need Medea's prompting. If they had a way to save those affected by the Insanity, then she was eager to see how it worked. Selfish perhaps, in a way. She was desperate to free herself from her own infection.

One of the first things Lan had done was stare. Stare past everything, into nothing. A stare that let her think, try to sort herself, assure herself that she was not a failure. That there was nothing she could have done. But- there was always a but. There was always a way she could have done better, that she could have helped, saved, done something, anything.

She could only hope Lifen and Zhi where alright, that Mengyao, the thing that had looked like him yet was not him, would not have harmed them.

After her stare into space, the noble got up, sighing at the tears in her robes. The way she had reformed was... not as perfect as she would have liked. Then again she would always preferred to reform perfectly.
A scent, a command, she scowled. She hated following. She might fail to lead, but she loathed to follow. Still she did. She did, and she found herself begrudgingly grateful for it. Though the sight of the high priestess made she shudder, she was a horsewoman. Someone who would gather their forces. Even in this hell. Medea was drained, many were also, and the vials were looked at with a sight hint of worry. There was too much she didn't know about their plans, Medea's plans. About their enemy, about how they moved, how they acted. Conquest did not rush blindly into battle, they calculated, they formed plans of attack, but this? This seemed like firing arrows into the dark.

Others in the tent had her shy away slightly, one in particular getting a glance, then avoidance. Still, she needed a vial. She was one of the last nobles, each one left something to be valued. Mengyao, a last friend from her life before. Uncomfortable as she was, her clan needed her, more, her friend needed her. Jaw setting, she pushed past the others, grabbed at a vial, taking only one, before spinning it in her fingers.

She was unsure. Her eyes went to her fellow conquest, seeking the smallest of familiarities. "Conquest does not fail Tseng." Yes, yes it did. And when it did, it failed in a nothing short of dramatic. "We have a task set before us, and we will not fail." A hitch in her voice. A betrayal of her worries and fears.
A note of doubt.

Tseng looked towards his little party before noticing another coming into the tent. Lan! Though, she wasn't looking all too good herself. This land was taking its toll on many, it seemed.

"Of course, Lady Lan!" he said firmly. Though, he soon paused. He heard that hitch in her voice. She wasn't so convinced, despite what she had said.

"Fear not, m'lady. We are on the task and we will prevail!" he affirmed, then looked towards the other three, "I am ready to head back out into the fog when you are."

Just when he thought there was some semblance of real hope, just as the familiar scent had brought him to their kind's refuge, Shik pulled back the tent flap and saw that the head priestess was still ashen and out of sorts. Gods. Gods, how had this mission turned out so terrible?

The chill from the blasted fog still clung to him as he nodded at Medea's words and wordlessly took a vial, fighting not to shiver so close to the fire. There was an end somewhere in all of this, and he was just about ready to tear down the house itself to find this ancient and be done with it. War could be patient and drawn out into sieges, but Shik was not the type. The longer he stayed in this awful mist, the very same that had come about from the destruction of their home, the more agitated he grew.

He tired of whispers and familiar voices and longed for the hour he could strike with his dagger at the heart of his enemies.

Soren had no reason to avoid any fellow horseman. He simply looked over when Tseng mentioned leaving, nodded in acknowledgment at Lan, and turned to the door. "No reason to wait."

He did feel a bit comforted by the vial's presence. If Nergui become consumed....there was a way to combat that now. He could still carry out his duties. It was not safe for them to enter the fog, but it was not a hopeless endeavor.

Kiwi recognized Lan, though she appeared a bit worse for wear. She had been kind enough to him during the Fright Night festival though, and he only nodded gently towards her, the softest smile to his lips. "May the Clan not fail, Lady Lan." And with that he followed Soren's lead.

One moment she was in one place and then the next moment she was here. She wasn't sure what'd happened anymore but at the same time she was glad to be somewhere safe. Her hand reached out to grasp a familiar sleeve only to find no sleeve nearby for her hand to grasp on to, hand pawing almost apathetically at the air she started to gaze around and realized she was in no immediate danger and that she could rest here a while.

Letting out a deep breath Yuzhi decided to rest for a moment longer. Maybe she'd find her lost companions or maybe she'd go on her own once more. She was too frazzled to figure out what she wanted to do next right away.

Tseng was about to follow suit, but stopped as a small figure made her way into the tent.

"Yuyu!" he cried out while rushing over to his little sister's side, "Are you well?"

He wanted to make sure she was alright before embarking on his quest once more. She was the only family he had left now after all.

She seemed to startle a bit as her Brother came rushing over and in a show of affection she doesn't usually perform out in public she suddenly hugged onto her brother when he came within hugging distance, "I was defeated in battle," she said simply and she just clung there for a few moments.

Yuzhi just needed a minute to cling to someone familial. Then she'd let him go.

This was a bit more taxing than she'd expected it to be - it doesn't help that she didn't deal well with loss as of late.

Tseng was surprised by the sudden hug. Frowning at her words, he hugged her tightly in turn.

"Fear not my sister. Even the greatest heros meet defeat now and then," he said while placing his hands onto her shoulders, "One defeat should not thwart you. We must press on for the sake of the clan."

She looked so solemn while she stared at her brother and took in his words and oddly enough they made her feel better. Despite his odd behaviors and everything he did that got under her skin he always said things that made her feel much better about her small setbacks and things that would normally cause her to just throw her hands up in defeat.

Tseng simply knew how to motivate her to keep going. She gave a small nod and then offered him an encouraging smile, "Yes, thank you. You...should keep going out there and doing your best. Don't forget to tell me the tales of your deeds when we reunite."
