It was late into the afternoon - classes on the campus had long since ended and the hours that followed were busy ones in the college's theatre where recasting auditions had just taken place.
Enjoying the cooler weather and the warm hues beginning to take hold of nature, Bell sat outside as she waited for the auditions and subsequent casting to be complete. She knew her roll was golden - she'd been the one to suggest the recasting to the director - and could have easily been in there to help with the decisions, but she had to talk to an adviser after her last class and would have thus arrived partway through.
She certainly hoped they had gained some more reliable people. Hopefully being replaced would be a wake-up call for some of the freshmen - especially those who thought they wanted to go in to theatre. This wasn't a game. This was cutthroat business - you couldn't be lax in any part of the process. And Bell was going to make sure everyone knew it. Yep, next time everyone - new cast members included - got together for rehearsal, she was going to put her foot down and give them all what-for.
Theatre Nazi Bell. Yep.
She was pretty sure that during the couple of evenings she'd helped coach Jamie for this audition that she'd secured that tittle. Even if she was a little easier on him since they were friends.

"Pumpkin muffins and a White chocolate mocha with whipped cream and a little drizzle of caramel. They'll have insulin shots ready when we keel over from an abrupt onset of diabetes." Jaimie noted, by way of saying hello, offering out the cardboard tray of drinks and a paper bag with a coffee shop logo on it. "Have they posted the casting yet?" He asked, waiting for her to select her cup.
He was surprised to catch himself being a little anxious after the auditions, though it was a bit ridiculous to get even a little emotionally invested in the idea of playing a part when there were people actually qualified for it and training for it. Anyway it was fun to hang out with Bell again, and not worry if he was breaking some kind of vegetarian food rule by eating a bacon cheeseburger within ten feet of her. Mm. Bacon. Maybe he should have brought egg sandwiches instead? Oh Well. Pumpkin muffins.
He was wearing one of his favorite black turtlenecks again, with a sweater tucked into his bag, just in case the growing autumn chill turned from 'comfortably cool' to 'uncomfortably chilly', though instead of one of his lions he was wearing a round oval of milky blue Chalcedony on a black cord.

Indeed, the nomming of dead animals was not something he had to worry about around Bell, who was anti-veggie anyway, save for potatoes and corn on most occasions.
"Thanks," She accepted the drink with all its caffeinated goodness.
She herself was wearing a knee length layered skirt, a simple shirt, and a light sweater with some ankle boots. It wasn't cold enough to bring out the faux fur and layers yet. Yet.
"Not sure. They were doing a few last minute stuff, but we shoud be able to go in and check. Maybe they've put it up.

"You want to?" He suggested. "I'm between stuff at the moment, and if I have to spent five more minutes trying to revise the script I'm working on I will start hitting my head on the nearest wall to see if that gets the sucking out. I hate the thing, but it's for a professor who thinks everything has to be deep symbolism and it doesn't drip with pseudo-intellectualism he'll never pass the damn thing. I am entirely convinced that the less he understands what you hand him the better he thinks it is."
"...I like the boots." He added, conversationally, which sounded better than an extended whine about one of his more annoying professors. He fished out his own cup, tucking the cardboard carrier under his arm and taking a sip. It had cooled just enough on the walk to be easy to drink, and he licked whipped cream off his lip as he shrugged again.

"Ah, gotta make sure the narration crackles and pops incendiary wit, mn?" Bell asked, jokingly tossing in the line from RENT. "Some people just can't appreciate simplicity. Or they get their kicks from trying to insert meaning where there isn't any. Take your pick," she shook her head.
Hopping off the short brick wall she'd perched herself on, she got back to other matters.
"Anyway yeah - let's go see."
The least he could get was ensemble.

"I think a little of both. Hey, if I pass, maybe we can get some marshmallows and make it crackle and pop with some briquettes and lighter fluid." He suggested. Not as clever as the brilliant songs from RENT, but it would still be satisfying.
He fell in behind her, slowing long enough to dispose of the cup carrier so he could free up a hand to just carry the muffins, shaking open the bag and offering her one as they walked. Being the proverbial hungry student was making him pretty good at juggling food containers and school bags without dropping things. It also gave him considerable sympathy for people working as wait staff in restaurants.
"Speaking of roles, are you dressing up for Halloween this year?" He was a little on the fence, partly wanting to cling to the fun of dressing up, partially not wanting to just be 'that guy' clinging to childhood traditions. She at least had the excuse of her little sister, even if they were struggling with being a bit estranged, thanks to the almost scripted level of dis-functionality in the family tree, something he wished he could fix, but you couldn't fix bad relationships with senshi powers. They both knew that way too well.

Bell happily accepted the baked good, "I don't know, I mean...I guess I don't really have much reason too. The last Halloween party I went to the cake turned out to be a youma. And I live in kind of the old folks district," a nice and quiet place accross the tracks, near a couple churches, a dentist office, and a good samaritan drop off, "So not many trick -or-treaters come by. I'll probably have to get Ainsley a costume but..." she shrugged.
Really the entire tiny attic of her house was full of old costumes from plays gone by - her sister could easily choose any one of them, but there was also the novelty of one of those dopey cheap costumes from stores like Kmart.
"I'm not even sure what I'd dress up as. Though I guess if I feel like getting out of the house, I do know one Celtic themed cafe that always does a little something." Hell, that place was always doing something, "What about you?"

"I guess it depends, I mean if you want I can give you a hand with Ainsley? What time does the play kick off? Maybe you can get permission to wear some of the props to drum up some more attention." He offered, hanging out the offer like he'd hung out the bag of pastry. "If you dress up I will." He suggested, quirking up the corner of his mouth in a friendly dare. Might as well try and coax her into the madness.

The play isn't until the end of the semester - mid December. The costumes aren't exactly my style, and they probably won't be completed until sometime in November...I should know, I'm helping sew them," Bell made a face, "Ainsley should be good - I think she has some other chibi friends," she shrugged.
"But, if you really want to dress up, I suppose I could. It'd be an excuse to pop in to one of those seasonal Halloween stores."
Bell hadn't ever really purchased a costume, and though she could also easily re-run one of the many up in her attic, none of them really screamed Halloween. Maybe part of her did want to dress up as something nonsensical for the sake of the holiday and she was having one of those really picky, wishy-washy moments...

"I'd offer to help but I think I'm going to be stretched pretty thin between classes and the senshi thing, assuming we start going again." He fretted. Should he be helping with costumes? He felt like he should be helping with costumes... or maybe that was just the urge to do ALLTHETHINGS to make sure people liked him. Right along side with the whole urge to do song and dance that had gotten him into trouble before.
"Dressing up isn't actually a big deal, I just want an excuse to let off some steam. Last time I went I think it was with... you know... Tal. The time we did the Pocahontas characters."
He grimaced at the thought, not eager to dress up as Historically Bullshit John Smith again. "I don't even know what I'd dress up as but I kinda want to do something nuts but not dangerous nuts. I feel like when I'm not in class I'm still looking for who I'm supposed to be now that I'm not "Jaimie Leontyne: Tallulah Cowden's convenient arm candy."
Was that too much soul bearing? Probably, but he'd have to blame the work load and coffee. He also hadn't noticed the 'performance' line until three oh five in the morning. Then he'd spent a good hour trying to drill his head into the mattress from embarrassment.

Once Jamie knew whether or not he'd be part of the cast, then he could fret about extra help. The set could definitely use an extra helping hand. Bell couldn't even really start on the costumes until she had everyone's sizes, and then again, the Director hadn't even decided on some key things... Yeah - leave the heavy manual labor to the guys.
"As chaos-fighting superheros, I think we're more than entitled to a little time to let off some steam. And the more that I think about it, the more this productions has me so tightly wound.... Okay. Halloween and dress up fun it is then!" Bell finally decided partly because, yeah, it sounded like Jamie could really use some help finding himself again. Luckily for him, Bell was too innocent-minded to have caught that embarrassing 'performance' line.
Bell refrained from commenting on the Tallulah thing. She'd never understood how or why Jamie had gotten with her to begin with. Then again, same could probably have been said for Xavier and herself.

"Sounds great!" He perked up at this, now looking forward to the whole affair, though still with no idea who or what to dress up as. He was half tempted to suggest that they dress up as if they were negaverse agents, however too few people would get the joke, and it would be a lot harder than it would have been a few years ago to dress up as a girl for a joke (plus it might weird out Ainsley.)... and he'd overdone lions like crazy... Hm.
"I'll look into some stuff we can all do. Let me handle some party stuff. As long as we can fit the crowd into my place I can host. You've got enough on your plate yourself, and if there's anything I learned in Chateau Leontyne it's how to throw an kick a** party."
He liked entertaining people, and Bell had enough on her plate with the freshmen she'd been complaining about.

"Sounds like a plan~ Now more pressing matters - what to dress up as. Though I guess just walking in to the costume store blind and seeing what comes of it is one option."
Anything greek themed was probably out of the question. Bell had enough of the Xena thing in fuku.
As she debated this they finally came upon the building which housed much of the arts department of the school. A couple doors and a flight of stairs later, they were at one of the three sets of doors for the theatre, and without a doubt, there was a paper attached. Bell stood back so Jamie could check it out.

"Ok then, let's see..." He wandered toward the list with a brief clap of his hands, trying to pretend he wasn't at least a little bit anxious. "Hey at least there's no cries of "Not fair" ringing through the halls yet." He offered, jokingly. "They would probably reconsider getting on your case if you went Bellatrix on their a**." He added, scanning over the list from the bottom up.

"That would require their IQ to be more than half their age. These are freshmen, remember? They think college is for partying and drinking and they haven't yet been disillusioned. I give them two semesters to smarten up."
And hopefully none of the sorority kids would be as messed as the ones the next city over that she'd read about in the newspaper. Alcohol enemas, really? What a waste of good alcohol...
"So, get anyone interesting?" Bell asked as she leaned against the opposing wall and sipped her coffee.
