 Tandwyn was old enough to go out and explore all on his own, and he was very pleased with such freedom. The unicorn was a bundle of energy, and being too-small-to-go-alone had been troublesome all his young life.
He was very much going to take advantage of this new freedom!
Tandwyn decided to take the route down the more perilous of the two rivers, Azure Rush. It was an untamed river, that went from wide to wider to huge and even it's quieter parts had hidden dangers. When it was quiet. The river tended to burble along as rapids.
It was just the mood the young unicorn felt. Wild, free... Happy.
Trot, trot, trot... Gallopgallopgallopgallop!! Trot, trot, trot... Pant, pant....
After the long run, Tandwyn found a soft patch of grass and unceremoniously collapsed onto to it.
"Hey, Ar, you----" Oh, wait. He'd gone out alone.
He sat up and looked about, lost. Alone? Wait. He didn't like that feeling!

Twilight was minding her own business, enjoying the beauty that was all around her. She trotted along beside the Azure Rush, enjoying the sounds of the water rushing over the rocks. She knew some would try to see if they are quicker than the rushing water, but she was just fine going at her own leisurely pace. She wondered what she should do next, when she barely stopped in time to miss running into a male unicorn.
"Hello, may I ask why you are laying here all by yourself?" she asked.

Confused lost looks always served to get him the attention he wanted.
Tandwyn sat up straighter, still huffing slightly. "Because I went for a run, and none was around to join me. And I could go, so I did. May I ask why you are out here on your own?" He looked around, wondering if indeed the beautiful mare was by herself.

"It is because I am usually by myself, except when I run into others. I do not have a Glory to call home, so I have been wandering around looking for the place where I fit in. It is not an easy thing to be alone, I very much wish to find my place in this world,"Twilight replied. She honestly did not remember much about her family, having been separated them long ago. She tried to recall what they looked like, but she couldn't. All she knew was that she had been loved and she could imagine they were heartbroken by her being separated from them.

"Oh!" Such a statement immediately caught Tandwyn's attention. He looked at her with some surprise for a moment. No Glory? By herself? With no one? He couldn't even begin to imagine it, as surrounded with other unicorns as he had been his whole life. Today was really the first idea of 'alone' that he could possibly muster.
"Well...uh...well, come sit down and join me for awhile. Or I can stand up and join you in your walk. I wouldn't want you to be alone. Uhm...What sort of place would you call home?"
How strange, very strange! It added an air of mystery to this other mare that made Tandwyn certain he wanted to get to know her, that he would enjoy her company, and so he wanted to know more about her.

"I want to continue walking a little longer, if you would not mind getting up. I would not mind the company at all, since I do not really like being alone as much as some people may think. Let see, the sort of place I would call home would have to be a place full of friendly and caring unicorns. A place where I could feel important and able to help others. It would be a beautiful place, but the warm unicorns would be especially what would make it lovely,"Twilight replied.

Tandwyn willingly stood. "That sounds a lot like my home. I am a part of a very large glory, and it has the most wonderful unicorns one could ask for. We love up the river, at the fork of Azure Rush and Crystal Flow. You could come visit, and stay as long as you like. My father did that. My father came in by accident, and they took him in as one of their own."
He was more than eager to share with her about his glory, and very willing that she should come visit. They would love her, he just knew it!
"My name's Tandwyn, or Tandie if you like. Please come visit?"

Twilight listened to the other speak about his glory and thought it sounded like a lovely place. She walked quietly for a minute, thinking about if she should accept his offer to visit or not.
"It is nice to meet you, Tandie, my name is Twilight. I think I would like to see what this glory you come from is like. It sounds like a very wonderful place,"she smiled.

Tandwyn was thrilled! Unable to hide that fact, he did a sort of half-jump, half-skip. "Yes! I think you'll love them, and you'll love the area. There's so many unicorns to get to know, and it's really beautiful. You can climb up to the cliff top and really sky-watch too. You know, your coat reminds me of a really clear and really nice sky. So beautiful." He considered her a moment. "But you're also very elegant. I knew I'd like you the moment I saw you." He nodded in earnest.
"What sort of things do you like to do?"

Twilight smiled as she saw how excited the other was about her coming for a visit. She blushed lightly when he complimented her, then thought about his question.
"Well, I like enjoying my time in nature, I love being under the night sky, I love getting to spend time talking to others and learning everything I can,"Twilight replied to him.

"Do you, really? I love nature also, and I love the sky, no matter the time of day. Clouds are amazing, you know? You'll definitely get to know others, and if you get my dad talking he'll never stop teaching." Tandwyn stressed the words with a little bit of air in them to show that it was nice, but absolutely impossible to get away from the older unicorn. "All he ever talks about is the river, and the ecosystem, and how everything relates back to one another. And sometimes storms."
"I think it must be very interesting to have had the opportunity to travel as much as you have. That's just really awesome! I would love to be able to get out, see more of the world, see what the world is like that isn't just right by the rivers and stuff. I'd hate to do it alone, I think. You must be very brave."

"Yes, I really love nature, I love how it changes and grows, always seeming to be more beautiful each time I really take the time to look. I think it will be nice to meet some other people and see what they are like. I do not think I am brave, more that I have had to do things out of necessity. When I was young, I was separated from my family and so I had to learn to be on my own. I would give just about anything to belong somewhere and have a family,"Twilight confessed.

Tandwyn looked at Twilight in pure wonder. She had to grow up by herself? Seriously? She really was all alone, wasn't she? That was beyond comprehension, troubling and sad.
"Well you can join my family," he blurted, then blinked and looked away. "I mean..uhm...if you...well, you have to meet them and the glory first, I guess. I hear that it's overwhelming, sometimes, for unicorns that aren't used to being around so many."
He hesitated, then continued, "My Glory looks after nature, and Dad's the leader, and I've got four brothers and a sister. And a mom, too. And there are lots of other glory members, we don't all stay together, we look after the rivers. You'll find somewhere you'll like, I'm sure... How...how did you get separated?"
He was sorry to ask the question, but driven by curiosity.

Twilight looked down at the ground and pawed a little at it, the thought that she did not know where her family was getting to her.
"To be honest with you, I do not really know what happened to my family, Tandie. I wish I knew, but I only remember a little bit about my family and who I am. I wish I could give you more of an answer, but I am afraid I cannot. I would like to meet your glory and who knows, I may stay,"Twilight smiled softly.

Tandwyn smiled back. "We'll help you find your glory, whether you decide to stay forever or not. I promise, they're good unicorns. They'll want to help."
He wanted to help.
OOC: Going to take the liberty of skipping ahead to get them there.
They went along, and Tandwyn moved the conversation away from something that was so sad to the mysterious mare toward more interesting things. The weather, the plants growing around, the way the river moved and how it was so different from Crystal Flow were pieces of the small talk. By and by, they started to see more unicorns as they came closer to the central home of Rivers' Guard Glory.
Tandwyn queried for his parents, and was relieved to find they were actually along Azure Rush also, and would meet them before coming to the rivers' fork. Sure enough, Auryn and Wysteria were busy at the river's edge, though they'd heard there son was looking for them and had come to a point that they could rest for a moment.
"Well, and I thought you couldn't wait to get away. Here you bring back a friend." Wysteria's greeting came with a nuzzle for her son, and then a polite nod to Twilight. "Welcome and well met, I am Wysteria, lifemate to Auryn of River's Guard Glory." She looked to her husband to indicate this was who she meant.Auryn was both less formal and slower at coming to greet Tandwyn and his visitor. He'd allowed himself a moment to consider, but gave a polite smile at Wysteria's introduction. "We were told you needed help?" His thoughtful looked turned quizzical.Tandwyn nodded, then shook his head, then took a step back. "Uhm.." Well, now that he was here, he wasn't sure what his duties as host was. "She wanted to visit, she said it sounded nice."
