Wash was making a concerted effort to be less of a recluse.
It was a hard habit to break, but he was managing, gradually. Little changes- like going to the training fields, taking his lunch in the cafeteria; spending time in the library. Slight variations in his normally solitary agenda. It helped, slowly, like pebbles that created ripples in still waters.
He had come by the mess hall, expecting to eat another awkward lunch trying not to stare at any of the unfamiliar faces in the room when he came across a pleasant surprise- another hunter he recognized; from the hunter choir meet up they'd had what seemed like lifetimes ago. He took a deep breath, steeling himself before making his way over to where the other hunter sat, nursing a coffee. He took a seat across and a couple of seats over, so as not to crowd his personal space, but still be within speaking range.
"'ullo," he intoned cheerfully. "Been a while since I seen you around. I dunno if you remember me, I'm Wash. We met at the, ah, well, that is - Jerry and Sasha's little musical soiree. You're-" he searched his memory, "Er, that is- I can't seem to recall your name."
So much for being suave about it. He poked at his food with a fork. He was by no means antisocial, but lately he found it difficult to - well, to do anything besides mope in his room.

Jude wanted coffee. Jude needed coffee. He was going to have a cup of coffee even if it tasted horrible and he didn't entirely trust the contents to not have something ~horribly wrong~ with it that'll make him all weird and what not.
So far he wasn't suffering from ill effects. There was just the pleasant warmth of a drink that he enjoyed.
He shifted the contents of his cup from one side to the other. He was running low already. Then there was someone seated nearby sort of making him jerk his head up and stare haplessly at Wash. He offered one of his awkward-I-don't-do-well-with-social-interactions-sometimes smiles and nodded, "Jude," he said simply not really bothered that the other Hunter didn't quite recall him.
It wasn't like he was the life of any parties.
"Yeah, I remember we met. Uhh, how have you been, Wash?" He asked sitting up a bit straighter now.

"Uh," Wash gave him his own version of an awkward grin. "Alright I guess. Better. Sorry," he added. "Tryin' to. You know. Get to know folk. Am I interrupting anythin'?" Nothing worse than having someone burst in on you uninvited. He started to get a little anxious, worried that he'd been intruding.
Relax, you big goof. This isn't like you.

Jude felt like he was having an awkward-off with Wash all of the sudden but he was able to get himself to relax more easily, "Nothin' wrong with that. No, you're not interrupting anything," he smiled a bit more relaxed hoping that it would help his awkward-buddy to do the same.
"Just sittin' here doin' nothing at all," he shrugged. There was a pause as he considered his coffee cup once more, "So uhh..."
.... ...
"...You like to do ... stuff?" Way to go Jude.
Yom uttered a soft yawn within his mind.

Wash grinned slowly, a slow motion that caused laugh lines to form in the corners of his lips; an easygoing smile. "Yeah, man, I like to do stuff."
Yes, this was getting easier. "So, you done anythin', well, musical, since that meeting? I'm sure Jerry'd love to get us all together again; was a lot of fun."
