      BYAKKOx MAWIYAxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

When Byakko was younger and it was decided by Trolldad that she had come enough to her senses to be capable of handling a weapon, Zhuque bestowed upon her a miniature kanabō. It was more of a spiked club, really; but Akko didn't particularly care what it was called and was much more interested in it's sheer, blunt force. She trained with this solidly build weapon for many, many years- and it had even seen bloodshed of her own kind once or twice. Trolldad was a fantastic teacher, combat was always his forte; but Akko was no match for him and his broadsword with such a short ranged weapon. So after the mutant hit her first few vertical shoot spurts, she was upgraded accordingly to a larger scale kanabō that she still uses to this day.

      Well, used.

She still would have been using it, if she hadn't done that whole deaging thing. Now Akko's trusted weapon towered almost two feet past her head, and was virtually useless. Byakko slowly made her way up Busthind Mountain, teeth gritted as she pulled her hooded brown cloak tighter around her miniature body in defense against the bitter wind. Why was this even happening to her? It was so absurd, so ridiculous, so utterly stupid... and a total waste of her time. Still, she was defenseless and that did not bode well with the mutant. The spare weapons the rebels had lying around weren't really suited for her fighting style, either. The pinkblood had the kanabō from her shorter days lying around the old hive, which was nestled up neatly near the summit of the mountain. Akko hardly ever ventured up here anymore, not since practically every adult of their species had died- including her father. It was out of the way and a waste of time, Byakko had much more important things to do now than hide.

And so the mutantblood pressed onwards, steadily making her way up the mountain. She was intent on making it there before the sun rose, and her pace reflected that. Byakko hadn't seen a single soul since she had left the nameless, pathetic excuse for a town on the side of Busthind that midnight. So when she heard slight shuffling and footsteps from the plateau above her, Akko froze and immediately pressed her back to the cliff side. She perked her ears, holding her breath as she listened for any more movement. She remained still for a few more long moments, barely breathing; until Akko was convinced that nothing was there and it was probably some beardbeast. Slowly creeping out from her hiding place in the groove of the wall, the mutant peered up at the edge above her- but what if someone was there?

There was an unfamiliar whizzing sound through the air, and then a sharp pain in the side of her head as it collided with stone. "OWW!" Byakko howled, hand snapped up to clutch just above her hairclips. Glancing around she realized the culprit was a nicely rounded rock that was now rolling to a stop by her feet. Who in the hell-?! Byakko looked around frantically for her assailant, still clutching her head. "What the ********> She cried, completely forgetting her oath to avoid confrontation in this state at all costs. It must have been an attack anyway- what kind of a** just goes around randomly chucking rocks?

It had been a while since his last trek up the mountain, and Zeffer never really had any reason to other than to mess around and play in the snow. The mountains were so much fun at times that he wished he lived there, but Arcus said that if he had he'd probably have fallen off a cliff by now, which was a good point taken. At any rate, his newly reduced stature seemed as good an excuse as any to make the trip. When he'd been this small sweeps ago, his lusus would never have agreed to such a journey, but with all the energy he had, and his limited knowledge of the mountain, it had been easy to convince his reptilian father to come along with him. Now that he was small again he'd grown infinitely closer to the massive scaled beast. Arcus seemed glad to oblige him, and he rode just about everywhere astride the snake's back, having no need to fear any other trolls or beasts they chanced to encounter. Who was going to ******** around with a giant snake, afterall? Not many, that was for sure.

As was usual for a trip up the mountain, the little blueblood was decked out in warm clothes. Goggles, mittens, his blue-striped scarf, and his jacket, which was still several sizes too large. Even though they'd managed to find some kid-sized clothing Zeffer insisted upon wearing it. It was still nice and warm, and was a fine cover as they played about in the snow. He still enjoyed all the usual activities, which mostly included sledding and throwing snowballs at Arcus, but today he had invented a new game. He'd managed to burrow down far enough to hit dirt, and more importantly, good sized rocks, which he found were excellent to send hurtling down the mountainside.

"Ya gotta toss them just right, so they don't get lodged in the snow..." he told Arcus in a matter-of-fact way, before hauling another up with both hands. He spun in a little circle before sending the projectile on its way, nearly falling over in a heap as he recoiled from the force needed to throw it. Then he'd scramble back up to watch and see where it landed, always giving an obnoxious laugh to see it clatter and break against some bigger rock that was jutting up from the snow.

They continued this game for some time, moving around until Zeffer found what he deemed as the perfect spot. It only took a few stones before something very...unexpected occured.

"WHAT THE ******** voice startled Zeffer as it echoed down the cliff face, and he wiggled to the edge of the ledge they'd settled on, peering down curiously.

"Hello? Is somebody down there?" he called out with a stupid grin on his face, because he knew that there had to be someone down there. Who else could have cried out?

As a young voice called out, Byakko craned her neck and found herself staring straight up in the grinning face of, if the streaks in his hair and clothing were any indication, a young blueblood with large curving horns. Despite his undesirable hue and (seemingly unintentional) attack she felt no intimidation whatsoever- he didn't look much older or bigger than her. Well, in this state at any rate. She almost assumed he was actually this age, why else would someone be throwing rocks for seemingly no reason what so ever except for childish amusement? Still, Akko wouldn't put it past some grown trolls to get their kicks from stuff like this...

"Yes, someone's down here." She spat up bitterly, rubbing the sore spot on her head before quickly glancing down at her hand to check for blood. Thankfully there was no pink leaking from the wound- her tealblooded disguise remained in tact. Perhaps their similar hues would be enough to deter the blueblood from giving her too much trouble. Eyebrows furrowing Akko returned her glare once more back to Zeffer. "Why are you throwing rocks?" She asked flatly, although she hardly expected a reasonable answer, if one at all. Pulling her oversized robe and fur tighter around her miniature body, Akko rose a hand to her head to tenderly carress her injury once more, all while staring up at her assailant.

"Oh s**t!" Zeffer looked startled as the little tealblood came into view, and he very nearly fell face first off the ledge...but something seemed to steady him. That something was his lusus, and it mostly stayed out of view for the moment. He smirked sheepishly down at Byakko, having had no idea that she'd even been down there. He was about to ask who she was, but then she snapped her question before he could even get a word out. Uh oh. Had he managed to get her attention with his game?

"It's a game I made up. It's called toss-the-rocks-off-the-cliff." He snickered at the less that creative name he'd invented, and leaned his chin in one hand as he watched her. "Would you like to join? The rule is it can't hit the snow, cause it usually stops rolling if it does." he informed her with a smug grin, rather liking the idea of having an opponent who could actually talk instead of hiss...not that he didn't like playing with his snakedad. He watched her eagerly, but the grin on his face began to fade when he saw her rubbing her head. Oh ******** he managed to hit her somehow??

"That's a stupid game." Akko retorted, smouldering stare not once flickering away from the blueblooded boy above her. Snakedad remained out of view, (otherwise she would have jet tailed it the ******** outta there), and what little of his white scales did show camouflaged perfectly in the glistening snow. She wasn't in the greatest of moods now due to the rock that had made sharp contact with her temple, and it certainly showed on her round face and firm grimace. Surely the mutant would have normally agreed with the statement, but rarely would she have been so crass about it. The whole deaging thing, not being able to use her own weapon, the sharp pain in the side of her head... it just hadn't been going too well for little Akko. She was frustrated, she was confused, she was plain ol' grumpy. "No thanks." She growled, crossing stubby arms in disapproval. She had much more important things to do with her time!

With that, Byakko turned on one heel and began to continue on her merry ol' way without so much as a farewell. The snow crunched beneath her wooden sandals, but her grey skin was protected against the elements with thick woolybeast leggings. She hurried off at an impressive rate, trying to shake off the blueblood. Unfortunately, the cliff Zeffer was currently playing on ran parallel to her own path, and he could easily follow along beside her. Akko silently prayed that he would let it be, but if only she was so lucky...

"Aw man, did I hit you? I'm real sorry!" Zeffer tried not to grin as he apologized, but it was hard. What were the odds of that happening? Usually the slopes were pretty desolate, save for the occasional troll here and there, but they were easily evaded atop Arcus' back. Byakko, however, being his own size (age?) and everything, was a much more interesting draw to his attention. That she was up so far without a lusus spoke a lot about her already, and Zeffer wasn't allowed to just let her wander off. After her abrupt refusal to join his game, the little stormchaser all but forgot about it, and started to plod along the cliff side, matching her pace, boots crunching in the snow. Snakedad shifted to follow along, still further back and out of sight, for the most part.

"What're you doin' up here all alone, anyway? Been a while since I saw someone my size." He inquired, half-tempted to slide down and join her at the tealblood's lower ledge. Something about her rang familiarity bells in his thinkpan, but his pea brain couldn't quite put a finger on it. "Do you live on the mountain?" was tacked on a moment later, and he didn't skip a beat in keeping up with her strenuous pace.

Byakko silently trudged on, mittened fists balled tightly around the straps of her bag as she plowed through the untouched snow. Shrugging her supplies higher on her miniature shoulders, she snuck a sideways glance up the mountain towards the blueblood. s**t. He was following her. Or, at the very least, headed along the same path. She scowled, stomping with more aggressive force through the glittering snow banks. Zeffer called out, apologizing, but Akko remained unresponsive. That stupid grin sent another message. She really, really didn't have time to luxury to deal with some bratty highblooded wriggler right now. She was a child again, for gog's sake! Byakko scowled, ducking her head to hide her expression of distaste as Zeffer bombarded her with more questions. She balked, internally debating on whether or not to answer.

"I'm going somewhere." she finally broke her silence with a curt response, although the mutantblood still refused eye contact with Zeffer. He didn't need to know she was headed to her old abandoned hive, and he certainly didn't need to know the nature of her mission- that she was essentially unarmed. Akko remained ever oblivious to the presence of Snakedad, who silently slithered through the snow with his charge. Zeffer's energetic pace matched her own fervor- he clearly wasn't going to let up, but maybe if she humored the highblood a bit he'd be satisfied enough to leave her be. "I used to."

Zeffer doggedly kept up with her as she tried to hurry through the powder, and since he was unburdened by any sort of pack or supplies, it was relatively easy to do, despite his now shortened legs. Being turned young again was pretty awesome, in his eyes, but there were some aspects of it that were a bit of a bummer. Having stubby limbs was one of those things, but he didn't let it get to him too bad. Unable to see her darkened expression and completely oblivious to her deteriorating mood, he waited eagerly for an answer to his question. She didn't seem very happy though - maybe it would be for the best to stop...but just as he was thinking about stopping and leaving her be, she answered, and he smiled.

"Oh! Well, where are you headed? Maybe we could help you out. The snow gets so deep around here..." Zeffer nodded sagely, as if he knew the area (which he didn't), not knowing that she hadn't seen his lusus, either. It was a no-brainer that the slopes could get fairly treacherous, and he felt bad for having hit her with a rock. The least he could do was offer her a ride, and Snakedad was way faster than going on foot. "That so? It's pretty intense up here sometimes, I dunno if I ever could. There's a lotta assholes livin' up here anyway." He grinned as a certain blueblood came to mind, and couldn't help but wonder if the potion had affected him as well. It might be worth investigating later, but his attention remained glued on the tealblood below, as he waited once again for her to answer him.

Sparkling white powder crushed beneath her geta as Byakko pressed forward, pace undeterred by Zeffer who continued to shout down at her. She let out a low growl, certainly undetectable to the blueblood, and craned her neck to shoot daggers at the boy.

      "Up."
Akko gestured loosely at the twisting path ahead of her, leading towards the peak of the looming mountain. It was only after she first responded that the mutantblood stiffened at the phrasing of Zeffer's offer. 'We'? She turned back to the other troll, eyes darting around their surroundings. But there was no one else-- the mutant's eyes narrowed on elegant movement, gliding white on white, and her pump biscuit skipped a beat. His lusus. Akko sucked in a breath of sharp cold air, mentally berating herself for her ignorance. The snakelike lusus' glimmering scales and long slender body had camouflaged ever so elegantly with the snow drifts that she hadn't even noticed his presence. It took her a moment to scan to entire length of Snakedad, drinking in his fearsome appearance in a mix of awe and horror. Byakko swallowed hard, suddenly feeling slightly clammy with sweat despite the plunging temperature. "Thanks, but no thanks." She managed to choke out somewhat convincingly. Her prolonged time in the brooding caverns left her with a distaste for lusus in general, especially when they were huge and terrifying and looked like they could devour an adult troll in a single gulp.

In some sort of cruel ironic joke of the gogs, the next step the stubby rebel leader took drove her leg into the snow bank down to her upper thigh. Even if she had been paying full attention to where she was treading, the sudden change of depth had been almost undetectable. With a groan of frustration, Byakko began to struggle to pull herself out of the drift. Colour returned to her face as she flushed in embarrassment, once again ducking her head. What timing. Akko grunted as she yanked her leg out, stumbling backwards as she caught her balance... and struggled to recollect her composure. "I still know my way around." She commented matter-of-factly, retracing her steps a few paces backwards before starting a new path closer to the cliff side Zeffer was trailing her from.

The blueblood seemed unfazed, even as Akko turned her gaze upward to glare, which he returned with the same mischievous smile. He could tell by now that his presence was bothering her, and suddenly wondered: was she a real kid, or just another troll affected by the potion? He felt a bit dense for not wondering so sooner, and was now determined to find out. Instead of shouting down, though, he was going to move down to where she was. It was silly to scream themselves hoarse, and who knew if it might cause some horrible avalanche to come crashing down? It wasn't unheard of.

"My lusus is great at going up!" He exclaimed, as the other child seemed to pause for a moment when she finally caught sight of snakedad. Zeffer's lusus was an impressive sight, and at their reduced sizes, his appearance was even more daunting. He peered down at the other youngster with his dull, grumpy stare, tongue flicking out once or twice, feathers rustling softly as the wind sifted through them. The only reassuring part was his seemingly quiet demeanor; there was no defensive puffing or hissing, and the rattle on his tail was still. After a moment he shuffled the massive wings on his back, and telescoped his neck to peer back the way they had came, as if to show his disinterest. Laid back and unwilling to get riled up unless absolutely necessary, the massive snake was like Zeffer's polar opposite, and the only creature that could keep him grounded (and on rare occasions, out of trouble). Zeffer patted him fondly, and offered a look of mock-disappointment as the other youngster turned down his generous offer.

"Aw, c'mon, it's so much faster. You don't gotta be shy, he's real nice! Here, you can see for yourself!!" Zeffer laughed as he swung up onto the snake's neck, just above his wings. The reptilian lusus seemed to know exactly what was wanted of him, and moved to scale the slope that separated Zeffer from his new acquaintance. As Akko was pulling herself up out of the snow bank, the gigantic snake had slithered down to her ledge, and Zeffer was snickering quietly. "Are you sure about that?" he asked, and watched eagerly to see what she would do. He knew it was a rotten little trick, but it was way too amusing a prank to pass up.

      BYAKKOx MAWIYAxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

A chill unrelated to the icy wind lashing at her cheeks ran up Akko's spine as Snakedad took a moment to return her stare. A steely grimace slowly crawled across her face as the lusus flicked his tongue in her direction- lusii could be so damn offputting. Byakko let out a vaporous puff of relief at Zeffer's parent lazily looked away, showing his lack of interest. She readjusting her slipping furs before glancing once again up at the boy, expression dour.

"Really, I don't want your help-" the mutantblood began to decline once again, but before Akko could finish protesting Zeffer had already slithered down on his lusus to meet her. Her relief was cut short. Byakko slowed to a stop, clutching at her bag, still uneasily glaring up at the boy; now he sat propped up on his large reptilian lusus blocking the ledge, blocking her path to her only means of self defence. A soft growl vibrated in her throat as Zeffer grinned down at her. Leading him to her abandoned hive was inconceivable! Even if it was deserted, she had never entirely forsaken her old home with Trolldad. It was sacred to her, a shrine of sealed memories- and Byakko wanted to keep it that way. She had gone through great lengths to keep it hidden, much like her past, and as far as she knew no one was aware of it's existence besides her. "Yes, I'm sure." Akko's answer was surly, and she folded her arms across her chest as she brooded. "I'll just be on my way, then."

It had always pleased Zeffer when other trolls were frightened of his lusus, even though the massive snake only became combative when it was absolutely necessary...but no one else knew how he operated. There was a twisted sort of pride in it, and Snakedad was the bane of the neighborhood back in Four Fronds. As his lusus carried him down and blocked the path with his massive coils, Zeffer shifted to sit on his back, but waited to hop down into the snow again. Now that he was closer, seeing her up close, his brow furrowed as he tried to remember where he'd seen or heard her before. Her growling brought him back to his senses before he could put his finger on it, and he offered a lopsided smirk.

"Alright, alright. I just have one more question...did you take the elixir too?" Zeffer asked, though he suspected what the answer might be. Though he didn't know why she was on the mountain, no lusus was about to let their kid go wandering around the slopes alone. It was too dangerous, and he was a little concerned, whether she was a transformed older troll or not. Even Arcus insisted on escorting him everywhere again, just like old times. Zeffer finally hopped down into the snow, and leaned against Snakedad for support.

      BYAKKOx MAWIYAxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Something seemed vauely familiar about the boy perched up on his intimidating lusus, Byakko realized, now that she could study Zeffer's grinning face closer. She wasn't able to place where she could have possibly known him from, nor did she have the luxury of time or any particular desire to muse on her deja vu. He didn't seem to be a threat, just a distraction; her focus needed to be shifted back to her main goal. Although the serpentine lusus remained more or less placid, the mutantblood didn't want to stick around and find out if that was susceptible to change. She squinted up at the boy, ultimately unsure of what to make of their encounter thus far. He was pushy, certainly, but seemed well intentioned if not overzealous. Still... highbloods with lusii that could swallow her in a lone bite weren't exactly at the top of her list of trolls to owe a favour to, and so she remained firm in her decision to decline Zeffer's offer.

However, his next query took her by surprise and she found her interest in the blueblood rekindled. "Elixir?" She echoed, eyes widening at her revelation. While Zeffer had his own suspicions, Byakko had mistaken his energy, fervor and immaturity for that of a child. "You too?" She blurted out almost uncharacteristically, eyes darting down to his boots and back up as she scanned his deaged figure with fresh eyes. How many others had been affected by the elixir? Akko had been so focused on getting herself rearmed that she hadn't really stopped yet to ponder how widespread the incident had been. Shifting her weight onto one leg, she huffed, recomposing. "I mean, yes, I did." Akko uncrossed her arms, allowing them to drop loosely to her sides as she vaguely cocked her head. "What are you planning on doing about it?"

"Hah! I knew it. No wonder you didn't wanna play." Zeffer grinned and stuck his tongue out. So she was grumpy about her transformation, and didn't want to play his stupid game. Seemed fair enough...he already seemed to have forgotten the lump he'd left on her forehead. Even though he'd been a teenager a week or so ago, it was hard to tell that anything had changed at all, not that the tealblood would ever know. He was just intrigued to run into someone who shared his 'problem', so far out from any proper civilization. It sure was a shame that she seemed so pissy; was it because of the elixir, or was she like that all the time? Zeffer bit back the snicker that threatened to slip out as he guessed the latter.

"I don't even ********' know. Gonna enjoy it while I can, I guess. Bet they'll figure out someth'in' soon, though," His eyes twinkled mischievously as he leaned in to add, "Cause the queen got turned, too." He snickered, and it evolved into an obnoxious laugh that echoed against the mountain. He was sure the tealblood was already aware of it, but it was just too funny not to gossip about. The entire planet had been thrown into chaos overnight, and the blueblood was reveling in it. Even though it was fairly weird, he had embraced it himself, finding it easier to go with the flow than to try to struggle against it. After a moment, he regarded her again, and crossed his arms. "How about you? Got some awesome plan hidden up here in the snow?" He smirked like a shark. "I bet there's nothing to be done though, really. We're all just gonna have to live through this thing!" He burst into laughter again.
