Kadryn was headed to Ayr, this time on a boat. This way she wouldn't get lost and someone else could worry about directions! She enjoyed the trip, but it left her with way too much energy and she could barely keep herself from flying from the boat to the island. Once on Ayr, Kadryn noticed the winds; stronger than she was used too, with sneakier currents and the strange sounds it made... she loved that sound! It was like a soft whisper that would become a roar and then go back to haunting the background. It was new, different, beautiful and Kadryn couldn't get enough of it. As she waved good bye and promised to be back before sunset to get a ride back, Kadryn dashed up the beach giggling as she was pushed around by the wind. "Ahahaha! I feel like a drunk! I can't walk in a straight line!" was the last words the boat men heard as she vanished into the mist. They smiled and shook their heads at that tiny irrepressible child. She laughed as she started to skip and leap around. This wind really was fun! So she decided to fly in it, she wanted to see if she could master it's tricky currents.
For hours she flew and twirled in the sky, learning the currents, sometimes getting thrown into the tall rocky spires that pierced the skies. She began to learn how to see where the wind was coming form and where it would move to. She didn't know that as she was playing and earning the wind's currents, an Ayrala dragon had begun to creep up on her. It already knew the wind and knew how to use them to its advantage. Kadryn did not... or so it thought. Kadryn saw a large dark smokey shape hiding in the mists out of the corner of her eye. Smiling to herself, she decided to play a prank of the dragon. For a dragon it had to be. She knew of no other animals that could make the mist swirl against the wind to hide itself. She waited for a wind to blow a certain way and as it came, she flew with it. Backwards. Towards a tall spire. Kadryn pretended to hit the spire and went limp as she 'fell.' A grin snuck across her face as she felt the blast of the Ayrala's wings as it leaped towards her. Kadryn clenched her hands into tight balls and waited as she 'tumbled' down. At the last minute, when Kadryn was sure it couldn't escape, She quickly beat her wings and flipped in midair right in front of the startled dragon's gaping mouth. She knew the wind following the dragon wouldn't let it maneuver very quickly, while she was protected from that very same wind by the dragon's bulk. Laughing, she flung her self at the dragon. Attacking quickly then half flying half falling to the next position. Like a small annoying fly, Kadryn circled and attacked in small flashes. The winds buffeted them both about, but Kadryn had a goal in mind. While exploring earlier, she had found a very jagged spire that had sharp rocks jutting out on all sides. She was maneuvering the Ayrala ever closer to that spire. Kadryn's luck was holding; right as they reached the spire, so to did a strong torrent of wind. The dragon was blown right onto the jagged spire and Kadryn was blown into the dragon. Clutching the dragon's belly scales, Kadryn tried to caught her breath. Then she felt a wetness dripping onto her head and shoulder. Looking up, she saw the spire protruding from the dragon's chest, it's blood was dripping onto her. As the dragon died and vanished into mist, Kadryn had to flap quickly to keep from falling and to catch the orb before it fell into the fog below and vanished.
That evening saw her tiredly reaching the boat on the shores. The old man who owned the boat was shocked at the blood that covered Kadryn. Not only had she been dripped on as the dragon died, but she had blood from biting and scratching during the fight as well. Grinning, she proudly showed off her first Ayrala orb to the boatmen.
