Rin eyed the door thoughtfully before rapping her knuckles across it. Hopefully she remembered Melvin's room number correctly and just as hopefully he wouldn't reject what she had in mind, either.

Melvin had been tired, and returned for a nap. Face in a pillow and Allan the Alien plush at his side, he was bare-a** and comfortable in his room. It had been a long day of menial jobs in the labs, best suited for a"trainee" like him, and he had burned out for the day quickly. Between training, random assignments, and studying up on minipets and other Fear creatures, he ate up his time quickly. He had not really had the chance to interact enough with anyone to warrant them knocking at his door though.
It took a few knocks on Rin's part to stir him, and looking up, he looked over to the door. "The fu -" He mumbled, rubbing his eyes and getting out of bed slowly. "I'm coming." He grumbled at the door, looking over to the dresser where his clothes were. ******** getting dressed right now.
Rising out of bed, he situated the sheets around his waist before moving over, one hand opening the door while the other held a bundle of fabric at his waist to keep the whole thing up. "Yes." He said, looking up with barely open eyes.

Rin patiently waited for the door to open and when it finally did... she gawked, stared even. She was expecting a possible jumbled mess... not... well... what came to the door. At all.
"Uh..," she started, still staring blankly. "Hi Melvin..," that greeting was peasant enough, right? "Coffee?" she offered though she has yet to blink at this point.

Narrowing his eyes, he leaned in to get a better look. "Rin?" Yeah, no mistaking that mass of curly, black, well-kept hair.
Blinking through the haze of sleep, he took his hand off the door and rubbed the base of his palm against one eye. How long had he been napping for? Probably too long. It felt much later, but he didn't have his phone on him. No pants and all.
"What time is it?" He glanced around. It seemed later. "s**t. Probably too long." He squinted back at her a moment. "Just coffee?" Coffee actually sounded good.

"Yep," her eyes started to wander a bit before she forrrrced her gaze back up to his face. "It's about...," s**t she can't move her gaze. Uh.. Okay. Try to remember the time... "Six P.M. ish?"
Her eyes flicked down than up repeatedly anyway though she wasn't entirely aware she was doing it.

Melvin seemed to wince at the time. "Too long." He shook his head a moment, scratching at a messy mop of blonde. "Could you.." He held up his finger, moving it a little as he thought. "....hold on just a minute." He went for the door. "Gotta...get dressed."

Melvin opened the door after a few minutes, not as finely pressed he would like, but still looking rather immaculate for someone just waking up. The only real difference was that his eyes weren't all the way open, and his usually pristine had a few rebelling curls to it.
"Thanks." He said to her, voice a little hushes as he just woke up, and pocketed his phone and pen before shutting the door and locking it. "I didn't.." He gave a yawn, covering his mouth a moment before he was done. "...expect to sleep that long."

"Yeah. I didn't expect some things either," Rin was not going to name those things. Instead, she was going to lead the way for her woken dead comrade.
"How do you like your coffee?" She asked to prevent any clarification requests on his part.

"Black. Little creme." He rubbed his fingers under his glasses a moment before he blinked a bit wider. "..or just black. Just no sugar." He then blinked a few more times to wake himself up, before looking over at her.
"Just felt like coffee?" Seemed like hunters above him would be busier.

"Weellll, there's kind of a catch," she admitted with a little smile as she mentally recalled his dislike of sweet. No fun, no fun at all. "It's just... sort of quiet and I wanted to talk to someone. Figured. Why not? Get to know the new guy a bit better?" She shrugged at Melvin as they found themselves already encroaching upon the cafeteria.

He smiled as he stretched out a bit. "Then you really are going to need coffee. Not the most interesting guy on the block, but I can talk for a bit." It wasn't like he was up to handle dangerous minipets in the labs right now anyways. Usually he would take being asked out for coffee a different way, but he really wasn't thinking of those things right now. People used to knock on his door all the time to go to the cafeteria to eat, and it was strange how much like college this place sometimes felt.
Well, aside from the dying thing, massive weapons, and MAGIC.
The cafeteria wasn't too populated right now, a few people having dinner, and he moved with Rin over to the coffee pots, finding one that wasn't just burnt sludge and grabbing from the racks of mugs before selecting Dark Roast from the pots.

Rin grabbed her own mug and after inspecting it rather closely waited for her turn at the good coffee pot, which thankfully was not too long seeing as he didn't have strange combination fetishes... unlike herself. She poured herself a little coffee in the mug, then sugar, then coffee, then a bit of creamer and finally coffee again before grabbing a fork off the food station which she inspected too before using it to stir.
"So," she took a testing sip; Juuust riiight. "What were you doing before Deus picked you up?"

Melvin had already inspected his cup, always on high alert for suspicious smudges or loose hairs, and was now popping a lid off a cup of creamer and tossing the container away, before checking a spoon a few times before stirring and gesturing to a nearby table that wasn't dirty with ketchup or any sticky residue.
"I was in college to get a degree in biochem. Still hadn't decided my minor even if I was being told to double major." He really hadn't wanted to burn himself that quickly. "I was recruited when I was still in school."
He just....left. Packed a small bag, left a note, and that was it. It still shook him somewhere that he had made such a final action, and was now living that out.
"What were you doing?" He eased into a seat after making sure it wasn't caked on with anything.

Rin looked relieved, this trainee sure knew how to pick out seats. Not sticking her with gross leftover things to stare down all night. She blew on her coffee before taking another sip. "You went to college? I wanted to but... well. It just wasn't do-able," she frowned slightly to herself before looking a bit concerned having the question turned on her. "Promise you wont freak out?" her gaze shifted to him.
