SilverLutz L1m3_gr33n_sh4rp13 SilverLutz L1m3_gr33n_sh4rp13 SilverLutz It was raining for a change. It wasn't quite the right time of the year for the rainy season to begin, so the ground soaked up the water almost as fast as it fell. There was mud everywhere and it was fairly hard going, so Grin had suggested they seek shelter in a cave for the night. The storm would hopefully blow over by the time they were ready to press on come morning. He set about cleaning his paws in the dry dirt, wiping off as much as he could before starting to lick himself clean. It tasted horrible, but he'd rather look nice and taste a bit of dirt than have mud caked up to his elbows and knees. Thankfully, his coat was a bit more forgiving than Dimu's as far as hiding the dirt went. His companion was pure white where the mud had gotten, so it took quite a bit of effort to get her back to that pristine shade. "Looks like there's a river right out there," he said as he inspected outside the small cave from his vantage point inside. "Tomorrow I bet there'll be lots of breakfast options standing right outside our door!" he added with a laugh. Water and breakfast, what more was there to ask for? Random rain storms could be horribly dangerous, but at times like these, the danger was far outweighed by the rewards for sitting through it. Dimu had looked so horribly forlorn when the rain had turned all the ground to mud. About 75% of her white fur was now covered in the stuff, and no matter how hard she tried to get rid of the dirt and mud, most of her coat was still that light dirty brown color. With a soft sigh she had given up and was content to lay in the cave next to Grin. Her tail flickered behind her as she felt her fur still a bit damp from the harsh downpour. As he spoke her ears moved forward and she peered out at where he thought there was a river. "That will be nice. We can have breakfast then I can wash off all this dirt." She said as she inspected her stained coat with a frown before moving her gaze to Grin and the forlorn expression was replaced by a happier one. "Funny how the storm just came down on us without warning. I didn't think the rainy season was going to start so soon.""Not fond of being brown, my dear?" Grin teased lightly as Dimu spoke of a bath the following morning. He knew what it was like to have dirt and mud caked into your coat, but he'd never been upset at the color he had turned before. His paws were very dark, though, so he might have an unfair advantage there. Leaning over, he bumped his nose against Dimu's cheek and gave her neck a few laves with his tongue to help work out a stubborn spot that had flung up from her feet while they had run lightly to get into the cave. "I think you still look ravishing," he said as he pulled back. "Not even a light dusting of brown could dim your radiant beauty." Oh yes, ever since they had agreed to be together, Grin had been laying the compliments on very thick. At least once an hour he reminded Dimu of how beautiful she was, or how strong she was, or how smart. He'd always get a wonderful laugh in return, and he really did enjoy hearing her with a happy voice. Dimu chuckled and smiled brightly at Grin. "You're too sweet. But I do not like my fur getting dirty. Sand, I'm used to, but mud? That's so much harder to get rid of..." She lamented as she inspected her paws again before deciding to try to forget about it. She couldn't keep her mind on her appearance or how she thought she looked bad with how often he told her how beautiful it was. She felt as if there was a constant blush on her face from his sweet words. She moved to curl up next to Grin, snuggling up against him as she looked out the cave, watching the rain. "It hardly ever rained in the desert, I forgot how pretty it is, and how nice the smell is." She said with a smile. Dimu had been with the Dawn walkers for such a long time, it felt odd to be out here in the roguelands again. Don't get her wrong, she enjoyed it, especially with her new mate and travelling companion, but it was still a little weird adjusting. Walking through grass was much different than walking through sand. "Too sweet? Me? Noooo," he said, sounding scandalized. "I'm just the right amount of sweet, my dear. What's that old rhyme? What are little lions made of, made of? Snakes and snails and wild dog tails? I think they forgot with a dash of fruit for taste," Grin chuckled. Ah, he had always loved the little rhymes his mother would tell him to pass the time. Little lionesses were made of fruits and spice and everything nice, of course. As Dimu curled up next to him, Grin let his tail flop over hers. The bright green at end of her tail had dulled to an olive green thanks to the mud, but he paid it no mind. Tomorrow she'd bathe and be back to her bright, fluorescent self. He glanced out of the mouth of the cave with her once more, enjoying the driving rain and watching the animals across the swelling river huddling together for shelter. Silly zebra. "I do enjoy the smell, especially once it's done," Grin said with a nod of agreement. "Like everything is fresh and new, and the dirt is all mixed up and the plants are so happy to have water again. But that's right...you were in the desert for a while. I never went through it before. It's one of the few places I haven't been. I didn't think it would be wise since I didn't know the area. At least in the rest of the lands you can find water after a few days, at least."

SilverLutz "I do enjoy the smell, especially once it's done," Grin said with a nod of agreement. L1m3_gr33n_sh4rp13 Dimu laughed again. She couldn't even imagine being able to be in a bad mood while she was with Grin, he was just so silly, and very sweet. Always willing to hand her a compliment no matter how she looked, like now, covered in tried mud that stained her fur. It seemed like nothing could dampen their spirits when the pair was together, always happy, laughing and joking. The lioness was really looking forward to settling down in their new pride sometime soon, hopefully. "Yeah, the desert was different. I'm surprised I found the pride the first time I visited, and it was a miracle I made it back the second time with my little cheetons in toe. I thought for sure one of them would wander off and get us all lost, or drop from dehydration..." She frowned a bit, it really hadn't been the best idea to have the four cubs go to the desert pride so soon after being born. Perhaps she should have waited until they were at least juveniles? "Hopefully this new pride will have lots of prey animals and access to a lot of water." She said with a smile, letting her thoughts move onto more happy things. Working with a bunch of racing cheetahs seemed like it would be a lot of fun. "I can't wait till we find it." SilverLutz Grin listened with a frown on his face. The thought of Dimu walking through the harsh desert with four cubs was horrible, really. He could only hope that they hadn't encountered any sand storms along the way and that their trip had been short and relatively painless. Dimu was tough, though, and her cubs had to be as well to survive. He was just glad she had made it through. If she hadn't, he certainly wouldn't be as happy as he was now. "Yes, it must if there's enough food to supply the cheetahs and the lions," Grin said with a nod, his spirits lifting a bit once more. "I imagine there's water nearby as well...most prides and packs have a water source close at hand. It would be kind of silly to start something where food and water is scarce." Unless you were desperate, of course. Then starting a pride anywhere would be acceptable. He yawned and lowered his head to his paws, golden eyes sliding shut slowly. "The rain does make me sleepy," he admitted after a while. "It's so soothing...puts me right to sleep. Just like my mother's lullabies would." He had been a very easy cub to get to bed. He loved sleeping just as much as he loved eating...and now loved Dimu. He'd lead a very happy life if those three things were all that happened once they reached the pride. L1m3_gr33n_sh4rp13 Dimu chuckled and gently nuzzled Grin as he laid his head down and closed his eyes. "I hope our future cubs will be as easy to put to sleep as you then." She replied with a chuckle. She herself hadn't been the easiest cub ever. She, like her mother, had been more nocturnal and couldn't bare sleeping at night, or in the hot sun, so she had been an insomniac through a lot of her juve days. "I'm sure the pride will be wonderful though. Do you think you are going to try and have a cheetah or two to race, or will you just sit back and watch the races mostly?" She had a good idea of what she would want to do, but what would Grin want to do in the pride? Would he be an owner who raced cheetahs, a healer like her (which seemed unlikely), or maybe a breeder, who paired up winning cheetahs to make champion cubs? SilverLutz Grin snorted softly and leaned into Dimu as she nuzzled him. That would be great if they loved sleep as much as he did. Of course, being half Dimu, they had every chance to be as high-spirited and bright-eyed as she was. "One can only hope. The gods know I'll be too tired to make sure they all stay together if they get up to go play in the night." He hoped this place would have caves or dens so they could put down the law of 'no leaving the den while mom and dad are sleeping'. He was sure the children would be obedient...or rather, he hoped they would be. The question made him raise his head a bit as he thought about what he might want to do. They had gained some more information in their journey from a passing cheetah who had also heard about the pride. "I'm not sure...I think owning a cheetah would be too stressful, especially if they didn't perform." And if there was one thing Grin didn't like, it was stress. He was laid back and relaxed and perfectly happy about being that way. "Hm...maybe a breeder. That sounded like an interesting profession. Never heard of it in any other pride. And I do have quite the eye for nice lookin' ladies," he added with a little smirk. "I bet I could get some pretty fancy cheetah cubs if I put my mind to it." He glanced at her in the darkness of the cave and bumped his nose against hers. "What about you? You seemed to light up a bit when that cheetah mentioned the healer role." L1m3 She chuckled, "Well, I'll warn you, I've always been fairly nocturnal, so there's a chance the cubs may like to get up in the middle of the night, but, I can handle that." It was funny to imagine, little cubs that looked like them running around. It was a good thing though. Dimu was ready to settle down for real, with a mate, and raise some cubs. "Breeder sounds like fun." She responded, thinking about it. She wouldn't be very good at that. The idea of askign cheetahs to breed for something other than love. She'd always feel bad even if they were more than willing to take on the task. "Oh, yes. Healer would be nice. I've had an eye for injuries and I know a bit about what helps things heal faster. Plus having gone through one litter already I can easily help deliver cubs and the like." Yes, that would be her best bet, trying for the Healer role. She would love to help injured cheetahs and even be the lioness to help with most of the deliveries when they started breeding the cheetahs, it would be such a joy to be around cub all day, even if she had her own (which she would surely bring with her to learn if they wanted.) SilverLutz Grin sighed softly and bumped his head against Dimu's lightly. "I do hope they take after you, even if it's the whole nocturnal deal. There needs to be more sweet and kind lions out here." He wouldn't mind having one or two of the cubs look like him, but he really hoped none of them would be as cocky and sly as he had been. He was getting wiser with his years and now that Dimu was here to keep him on the straight and narrow, he hoped he'd be a good example once they arrived. "Well...doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon," he observed as he rested his head on his paws. "I'm going to grab some shut eye. As should you...we've got a lot more walking to do." [Last one from me =D] L1m3 Dimu smiled and nodded. The pair of them would make great cubs, with her sweet demeanor and his wit, she knew they would have easy going cubs, even if they were a little rough around the edges at first, they both could teach them how to be good lions. She had no worries about it at all. She had enough experience for both of them. "Good night Grin. I'll see you in the morning, and hopefully the rain will have stopped by then." And with that, Dimu laid her own head down and waited to drift off to sleep.
