Bethel
Shy girl: Bethel is quiet, shy, and comes off as reserved unless you approach her--she doesn’t really stand out when she isn’t in full out Joanie form. (Her succubus abilities work through her voice, so no talking = no attraction.) When she’s not in make up, not in her trademark outfit, she’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever met. She’s helpful, and has a bit of a stutter (she's very aware of her voice--too self conscious about it.) There are moments where you forget that she’s in the room--

Goal Orientated: But secretly she’s always wanted to stand out. She has a fantastic singing voice, husky and deep for a female--think Janis Joplin, and nobody knows it except her and her stuffed animal collection. When the chance to become someone--someone that was already established as strong, as outgoing, as THE JOANIE came up, she jumped on it. Put aside the sweat shirts and books, switch the black rimmed glasses for contacts, and she is ready to ROCK.

Unloved: Her family consists of an old male demon--her grandfather, who raised her while her parents went and lived the high life. She doesn’t know where they are, and doesn’t consider them family anymore. But she does feel the lack in her life. Her grandfather is strict and demanding, expecting her to take over the family business (ironically they specialize in working with motivational speakers/politicians) someday, even as he scoffs at how she’ll never be able to because she has no presence. It’s created an inferiority complex--one that she’s intent on ridding herself of. (He has no idea yet that she’s left home to try this.)

Joanie
Bold: Joanie--her persona--is the complete opposite of her. She’s bold, loud, brash, she stands out wherever she goes, and as much as Bethel might have a crush on the cute boy in the class, Joanie wants to grind him under her stilettos if he’s standing in her way. She is woman hear her roar, okay? So what if Johnny Danger goes to Amity? He’s SO last year. Not like her. No, she’s THE Joanie. Screw you ALL! (She’ll deal with Bethel’s inner reactions later.)

Cunning: Joanie doesn't take no as an answer. She might seem like she's taking it, but really she's plotting out how to get her way even now--yes, now. See that little smile on her face? You should probably start worrying.

Demanding: And not just of other people. Joanie is hardest on herself. She's the one to work the entire night through to get the song and dance together--then she'll be up first thing in the morning, making it look as if she didn't even have to try. She expects as much out of others as she expects out of herself. And Jack help you if you don't provide.

Together They Are
Music Lovers: Both personas are obsessed with sound. Good music? They’ll be there. Singing? They’re there--in an almost creepy showing up sort of way. Bethel knows the piano, the violin, the clarinet--all the classy instruments that AREN'T the guitar, sadly. She just never gets up the guts to play in front of anyone other than her music tutors.

Conflicting: Bethel’s developing a multiple personality problem, slightly. Bethel and Joanie go head to head--with Joanie trying to overwhelm poor Bethel every time.

Aristocrat: Bethel grew up in a large Spanish style castle outside of Los Muertes - her family is VERY rich and famous. Joanie, of course, has her own history and reputation (one that Bethel feels she MUST live up to--if not exceed.)

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? Because she gets a full scholarship--and if her granddad found out what she was doing, he’d disinherit her. And it goes with becoming famous according to her contract. And maybe, just maybe, Bethel will be able to make a friend.
