Crew Information

Who are they?

Guild Captain:
Fractured Moonlight

Vice Captains:
Wings On The Way Down (FM's Mule)
Picking Up Stars

Moderators:
Shadow of Twilight
Kristastic
NoahKai

What does the crew do?

The job the the guild crew it to make sure the RPs run smoothly and to keep the friendly enviroment of the guild, be it through simple enforcement of rules to sorting out issues between members. They handle all problems that arise from Godmodding and the like to making sure everyone knows how to handle situations properly.

Crew members also have the authority to lock threads if need be (should a situation get out of hand, or the thread is no longer needed), move threads to subforums, accept/ban members, and edit other's posts

Note: Should you ever be banned by a crew member and feel you were wrongfully so, please bring the situation privately to Fractured Moonlight over PM, thank you.

So you want to be part of the crew?

Being part of the crew is quite simple actually. Show your dedication, your helpfulness, and also that you can be totally objective about situations and will enfore the rules when you need to, regardless of who your friends are.

For Existing/Future crew members:

As part of the crew, feel free to use your administrative powers as you enjoy. So long as you arent crunching the toes of your fellow members, everything should work out fine. Abuse it, you lose it. No second chances on this.

Just use the power with care:
Locking threads, dont hit the delete button on accident.
Fractured Moonlight
Please, please, please be careful when locking a thread. It's right next to the delete thread button. You delete a thread (like the RP thread and the like) I will hurt you severely. Not Joking people.

But otherwise, dont fear to create threads at your discresion.

We expect to be able to keep in touch with you. Dont leave us high and dry when we need to contact you, especially when organizing things. Connections outside of Gaia are helpful, most importantly when things come up that disable Gaia.

Keep the peace. If you are the only one around and something bad happens, then ARBITRATE it. That means dont take sides, and use your head to get through it. We expect you to resolve conflicts swiftly and with as little damage as possible. Handle admin arguments little differently, dont take sides based on anything other than the facts if you can. Actually, step down entirely from arguments if you cant keep from getting wrapped up in them yourselves.

In the event of any admin related uncertainty, we will consult one another and come to a sensible conclusion.

At a total loss? Hand it over to the Guild Captiain.

Some Basics

New Arrivals.
Looking at the RP thread on a busy night is kind of scary, you go to post and it has moved to another page already. The best any one can expect is for you to make a decent entrance post roughly. With such minor things as battles and whatever else going on at the moment in consideration.

Note: If there is a battle going on your first night, it may take a little while for people to notice you. Maybe wait and post another night, or insert yourself into the situation, that is your choice.

Read over the character bios. You still have to meet the characters, however it is important to know what they look like. For instance, if you are not used to seeing elves, creature-people, and the like, your character might have an initial reaction to their looks.

Making an exit post or 'pausing out' is a nice gesture. When making your exit posts, either make it clear by going away from those you're engaged with, saying you wish to be alone, or putting an OOC at the end of your post. OOC's in the RP thread should be made in double parenthesis like this: ((exit)). Please keep these to a minimum in the RP, however there is an OOC thread entitled FlimFlam where talk is welcomed and encouraged.

Older members:
For those of you who are no longer cute, fluffy, little new members, you now have certain requirements to stay in the guild and keep everyone off your back. Do not groan, they are not that bad.

At the very least you must be on the RP and involved one night a week. Involved is kind of a relative term and depends on how many other characters are on versus whether there was a situation going on or the RP was dead. Just try and be online, posting and interacting with other characters for a few hours one night a week and you should be fine.

The Memo Board:
A very useful thread. Have something important to say? Want someone to see something you've done in a subforum? Going to be gone? Just throw a post there. Don't be afraid of it.

Posting:
Do not ignore other characters in the room, be considerate and acknowledge them using internal thought if that is all you wish to do. Ignoring is not nice unless the character wishes not to be noticed.

Try to respect the "posting order". Usually we fall into a rhythm of posting and this usually works in everyone's favor. Try to only "split post" when you have characters that have nothing to do with others. I.E. They're in different places with another set of characters.

Read a few of the previous posts to find out exactly where everyone is so you do not look stupid.

It has been noticed that the two window method is useful. Have two browsers up for the RP. One for posting on, one for just watching the RP. This way you can edit accordingly before you post and also keep up with what is going on.

Quoting is not necessary. If we all read, at least skim, then we should know where everyone is, what they are doing, and who is being addressed. Whatever you do, main characters should follow the initial rules:
1. No god-modding.
2. Out of character in parenthesis ((ooc))
3. Limited one liners.
4. Posting done in story/paragraph form.
5. Fighting and romance allowed, but stay within the rules of Gaia.
6. No stealng ideas from characters without prior permission.
7. Read information stickies/announcements. They are useful!

This rules are elaborated upon on the Guild Homepage.

God-modding and such:

Main characters:
Do not freak if someone puppeteers you slightly. No one can pick you up and throw you through a wall stating your death, but that is not slight hit however.

They can not be auto-hit, but they should not be God-powerful taking absolutely no hits at all while mutilating everyone else. That is not cool, it makes a situation seem impossible.

NPCs:
NPCs are non-player characters, or in this case, not your main character, but the name stays anyway. There are many of them in the guild, let us face it, we just like talking to ourselves sometimes.

They can be auto-hit and can auto-hit, but they can not explain the characters reaction to a hit. They can be difficult to fight, but should not be all powerful either. Basically there rules are slightly different, and sometimes case specific.

Of course these rules concerning player interaction go out the window and down the street if both players consent to puppeteering and the like. Any questions about a situation can be worked out between people, or crew may intervene.

Reusing Characters:
We encourage that you create a different character for each RP you are in. Variety is the spice of life after all. However there are 'transfers' made. This is where you want to transfer one character to another RP (because say the RP is closing but you don't want to retire the character yet). You may transfer a character over, but please have a valid story as to how they got switched (planes crossing, moved, that kind of fun).

RP Specifics

In the SCG we have more than one RP as you may have noticed. Each of these are expected to follow the basic rules laid down. But some have further rules to further the experience within the stories unfolding.

You can find there specifics back in the application sticky.

Still not sure? Then PM the RP creator directly, ask in the OOC thread as other members of the RP can help you, or even as the guild captian. Don't worry about asking a question that seems stupid, we all appreciate you understanding something than merely pretending to understand something.

Languages:
Basically, if your character does not know the language that is spoken in different colors, not to be confused with NPC colors, and your character can not read minds, then you can not understand this speech.

Almighty Langauge List:
(Mostly permanent, try not to use same colors for new langauages)
***
Elvish: Italic Green (Elven Dictionary: http://www.grey-company.org/Circle/language/com2elv.htm )

Please remember, this is surface elven. If you are not elven, old enough, or your character would not be exposed enough to know the language, or is not taught it, you do not speak or understand it.

Drow: Italic Sea Green (Drow Translator: http://grey-company.org/Maerdyn/resources/translator/ )

Please remember, that this is a common language of subetteranian land. If you are not from there or are not exposed to it too much, or very young, you probably will not understand it unless you are of the elvish blood.

Draconic: Italic Olive (Draconic Translator: http://draconic.twilightrealm.com/

Please remember if you are not of dragon blood, are not at least 1000 years old or would otherwise have no means to learning the language, then you don't know or comprehend it. It is not an easy language to read/speak/lean and it is hard/impossible for those outside the dragon races themselves to grasp.

Making An RP Thread

So, you want to put up your own RP thread do you? Here's the most organized way I feel it can be done for everyone to understand.

Note #1: This is YOUR RP thread. Thus you are responsible for it and those that are involved in it.

Note#2: Any problems or violations, and any ban requests are to be PMed to Fractured Moonlight.

Something To Remember:

Though it is your RP thread and you have main rule over it and the conduct and such included in it, it is also subject to my overview should something be amiss in it, or a concern is brought to me.

Then steps will be taken if so needing.

Also realize that if need be, I and my crew have the right to lock and/or delete the thread you create. Of course these will both only be done when an issue need severe resolving or meets standards to deem it "unhealthy" for the guild as a whole.

Setting Up Your RP:

Step #1: Make sure your idea is fully thought out and think up a short summary for your RP.

Step#2: Think up your application form.

Steps#3: If you want specific rules for your thread, or restrictions, make them.

Step#4: Send all above information in an organized PM to Fractured Moonlight. She will set up your Applicaton Post in the sticky, and will also post your Character/NPC posts in thier respective threads.

Simple, isn't it?

Note: If you would like your thread locked/unlocked for any reason, please PM an online crew member to do so for you.

Bringing Members Into Your RP:

Now you should understand that PMs will be coming to YOU if you created an RP. This is so you can pick and choose who you want in and who you don't.

Once you decide who you want in, send a PM to the person and tell them to make a join request if they haven't already. Ulternately, PM Fractured Moonlight or another online Crew member and have that new member accepted/invited, in this PM also include the application that was sent to you so it can be filed.

Extra Features

Scrapbook:
It is what you think it is. A nice place to put various guild related fun things. Art seems to be it's main staple. Be nice to the scrapbook, feed it and keep your images at at 640x640 at the most.

RP Accompaniment Threads:
Got a guide to your RP? Or maybe something you can't incorporate? A little idea that you want to play out but can't because you can't control everything? Head on over there. Not only filled with helpful RP materials, but also some fun little activities to join in.

Nostalgia Land:
The place for retired/ended RPs. Why delete greatness when you can reread it over and over. Please don't post in this subforum.

Random Musings:
The place to put non guild related things that you don't want to stick in say the chatterbox or what not. Like extended descriptions for characters when you're dong an art request, or a thread that you're using to keep track of certain things. Random musings as the name implies.

The Post Goddess And Her Court Joke

Now, within SC there floats a joke around here. In no way is it a method to 'lord anyone over anyone else' device. Merely a joke and should always be taken as one. It's basically born from post count competition and what not. Anyway, here's the ranks:

Post Goddess: Fractured Moonlight
Avatar: Picking Up Stars
Mob Leader: Shadow of Twilight
Pope: Lunar Dawn
Scribe: NoahKai

And the general ideals? Law of the Brick and Way of the Buckle.

Wanna join the court? Just jump in and play up the part. It's all in good fun.
