Nearly a week had passed. A week since she'd been hopeful and almost confident. There had been some close calls since she'd become blind, and interesting encounters. Shukriyya had held a glimmer of hope that maybe she would be able to survive on her own. Now she knew better. There was nothing left for her. Several days ago she'd found herself stepping into a small waterhole. It should have been easy to survive here. Instead she had been afraid to leave it.

The nearly skin-and-bones lioness lay with her head pointing toward the water. She had laid down several days ago and never bother to get back up. Shukriyya was waiting to die. Several times she had felt the sun rise and set on her body. Felt the heat of the day and the cool of the night. Sudden noises of the animals living here failed to startle her anymore. They just were. A slow breath left her body, eventually followed by a slow intake. Her eyes were closed waiting for the god of death to claim her.

After a week and a half of traveling from his encounter with two cheetahs that have left a lasting impression on him and taught him things he never thought would be possible. One of them was actually a push to consider joining a pride. The other was seeing other ways to make things from unlikely yet interesting sources.

Eachann didn't know where his paws were going to take him. Yet it took him to a small waterhole, a lovely sight since he had this love for water whether to drink or to swim in to refresh his heated body he stopped abruptly at the sight of red fur wih equally red patterns of different shades. Frowning he walked over slowly, hoping he didn't disturb this creature's peace and solitude. "Pardon me. I hope I am not disturbing you with my presence here." At the very least he wanted to make sure he wasnt' crossing anyone. Eachann didnt like unnecessary fights.

There was that sense of floating. A sense of calm that preceeded all else. 'Riyya was content to let it take her where it wanted. She didn't want any more of this. Struggling to survive. Attempting to to live by the mouthful. This wasn't how a lion lived. She would have sighed if she had the energy. But that disconnected feeling from her body was good too. No more pain.

A sound. A voice nearby. She tried to ignore it, but it wouldn't leave her alone. Her ear barely twitched as the sense of someone looming over her pulled her back to her body. Why couldn't they just go away? 'Riyya focused a little harder on the meaning of the words. Disturbing? Presence? Yes the presence was disturbing. Clearly she had to tell whoever it was before they would go away. She coughed as she tried to use a voice raspy from disuse.

"The dead are not bothered by the living."

In the time he stood there nearing the lion...ess he noted the horrible state she was in. Skin and bones, if that. Then the lioness spoke to him her voice not what he expected. Blinking he took a bold step forward to nudge her gently. "You are not dead if you can respond to me." He said gently. Eachann's heart clenched not liking how this female looked. "Allow me to help you. You shouldn't have to go from this plane like this." Sure this female didn;t know how he was and vice versa but to let go of life like this? No he didn't see that as a good thing.

She had expected to be left alone now. To die alone. Perhaps she'd always expected it. Not dead? 'Riyya knew she couldn't be far from it. Why was he bothering? She was clearly no threat to him. Then the offer of help. It almost made her open her eyes in surprise. Not that she would have been able to see anything.

"Not yet. Why would you help?" It took so much effort to ask the simple question. What did it matter how one left verses another? Her Pride. That's what had made the hard even harder. 'Riyya loathed having to ask for help. Her blindness had caused the young lioness to feel a sensation she'd never felt before. Helplessness. She hated it.

Eachann looked at her in surprise. Who wouldn't want help? Who wouldn't need help? Especially when you were at the pinpoint of life and death! Clearing his throat he nudged the lioness gently. "Everyone deserves help even when you say nothing. I want to help because.....Because I want to." He didn't need an excuse to be there for someone. Sure he didn't have do be here and offer his assistance to some stranger. Nor did he have to help the lovely cheetahess to gather silk webs from her spiders or listen to a green and cheerful cheetah about his partying pride. He had no need to find a reason only that he wanted to.

Just like right now he wanted to help this lioness. His paws took him to this very spot and there had to be some underlying reason for it from the universe. Put that aside to focus to the present Eachann grumbles softly. "If you don't want my help........I'm still helping."

'Riyya couldn't grasp it. Or maybe she just didn't want to. Asking for help in any form was not her strong point. She didn't ask for it because she believed she didn't need it. Except now. Since her separation from her pride and the resulting blindness, she had been getting help in one form or another. Perhaps she had never verbally asked for that help, but body language could speak louder than words.

She pushed his silly reason from her mind. From his words she thought he was about to leave in a huff, until he shattered that idea.

"You're what?" Her head raised weakly in disbelief. Sightless eyes stared slightly to his right, and her head weaved some from struggling to hold it up. Did he not get it? 'Riyya sighed as she realized that he wasn't going to allow her to convince him otherwise, and she didn't have the strength to argue. "Fine. Do whatever you want."

Eachann didn't repeat himself yet he did note that when she lifted her head in surprise to his words it was....Somewhat off from where he was. That made him think...That her situation was so bad that her vision could have been blurry from lack of food. Listening to her words to do whatever he wanted, the brown lion looked around them for a momet.

Spotting what looked like a rock formation on top of one another to make a rather small den. Looking at the female he nuzzled her front legs. "I'm Eachann." He said softly before shifting his body and using his jaws to pull her up over his back to escort her to that rock like den for shelter.

She had laid her head back down. It was too much to continue holding up. 'Riyya wondered if he'd really try going through with it. She heard his name, but didn't respond. What was the point of telling him a name that wouldn't be around much longer? Then she felt herself being lifted. What was he planning? She wondered.

The red lioness didn't try to help the lion, nor did she try to resist either. What did it really matter if she died here or where ever he was taking her? If he was happy to try, then there wasn't anything she could do to stop him. Her body immediately noticed the temperature difference. She guessed they were shaded by something.

Carrying the young lioness to the shelter, Eachann set her down ever so carefully and gently to make sure she was fully under the shade and comfortable. Nudging her gently he stopped to look around. The brown lion needed to get her something to eat quickly. Looking at the watering hole he went over to see if by chance there was any fishes.

Seeing that there were fishes he took his time fishing and caught a nice fish yet it wouldn't have been enough to help much. It was better than nothing. Walking back he sat before the lioness and shredded up the fish to make it easy for her to eat. "Eat the fish for now. I will return with more food for us." The brown lion was determined to help this lioness but he had to be away for a short time to do so. Without letting her have the last word, he doubted she would, he bounded off to hunt.
