Humming softly to herself, Latifu was off wandering again, footsteps synched with a song that was going around in her head. She often wandered like this, getting lost in some made-up song as she walked towards the next horizon. She always just went from place to place, leaving little memory of her ever being there. It was mostly in her nature to be like this; her mother was very much a free-spirit, and so Latifu had taken that trait in with pride.
It had also proven to be a gateway into her immortal obsession, of sorts. It all started when she was a cub, going off to play or explore, and eventually running into a god. She remembers that first experience like it was only yesterday; his long, golden hair, and his matching spotted pelt. He had such great wings, but every god that she’d met since shared that wonderful trait. But from the first time she’d met one, it was like she was hooked. After seeing such wonderful creatures, how could any mortal compare to that? There had been a few that came close, though, but they were only fleeting interests. She had actually just left one; a dark male that shared her love of music. They enjoyed each other’s company thoroughly, staying up late singing different songs, or just laying out and looking up at the stars. It was nice, but Latifu wouldn’t let it last; as soon as she thought of one of the wonderful winged gods that she had met, he paled severely in comparison . Looking up towards the sky, she wondered if she’d meet another. Her heart longed for that presence, that overwhelming aura. It was like a dream-come-true every time she met a new one. One day, maybe, she’d stop her obsession and try and find a normal male to settle down with, but it just didn’t seem worth it right now.

Kilunzi glanced about her, anxiety evident in every motion. Her companions Irc and Hem looked on encouragingly from where they were perched in a nearby tree. They knew how nervous she got every time she visited the mortal lands, so they tried their best to be supportive of her. The mated pair were absolutely devoted to Kilu and rarely left her side.
Taking a few deep breaths, the goddess glanced around her to be sure that she was alone. She didn't mind talking to mortals, but they tended to dislike the effect her presence had on them. The more time they spent around her, the harder it was for them to keep any secrets they had. Spewing out secrets right and left tended to make for an anxious social setting. This effect was stronger on some mortals, and weaker on others. There was no way of knowing. So, Kilu spent most of her time in the immortal lands, with the other gods and goddesses.
Satisfied that she was alone for time being, Kilu dropped her mortal guise. She wasn't used to using it and she felt more comfortable with her wings showing anyway.
As she stretched her fluffy wings out, her nose caught the scent of a lion nearby. She tensed, but didn't flee. Maybe it would be best for her to practice and actually try speaking to a mortal. She could only smell one, and that would be a lot easier. Following her nose, she noticed a lioness walking a short distance away. Irc and Hem glided down quietly to settle on her shoulder blades. She didn't even flinch at the feeling of their talons, she was so used to it.
Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself and called out a quiet greeting.
"Hello there."

A bit lost in thought, Latifu hadn't even noticed that one of her beloved immortals was standing not too far off from where she was. Flicking her ears up as they called out, her heart felt like it was going to jump right out of her chest as she saw the shapes of wings. Her eyes grew a little wide, and her jaw dropped down slightly.
This. This was what she had been waiting for, the perk that made everything in life worth-while. It was almost like seeing the very spirits within every living thing; a kind of overwhelming, surreal feeling. It was pretty hard to explain to others, and most of the time Latifu ended up getting strange looks for the thoughts she had; but at least she was always honest about them.
Quickening her pace a bit, she almost ran over towards the goddess. She felt like a small cub seeing a fresh kill for the first time; the feeling never changed, and it always had the same effect on her. As she neared, her oranged eyes scanned the other, taking in the full-effect.
"Ah!" Coming to a stop, her breathing was heavy, and she dropped her head as she calmed herself. "Hello hello!"

Kilunzi blinked in confusion at the enthusiastic reaction and then smiled, relaxing slightly. She'd had a mixture of reactions from mortals, but they were usually negative: fear, or caution, or sometimes outright hatred. The positive reactions were always surprising, but never had she met someone who seemed so excited to see her. And the lioness did look excited. It was a nice change of pace.
Sensing Kilu's approval, Hem and Irc each called out a pleasant greeting of their own from their place on her back. She glanced back at the ravens with a grin before turning back to the lioness.
"Hello, my name is Kilunzi. I decided to . . . travel for a little while and saw you, so I thought I might say hello. Might I have your name, please?" asked Kilu in her quiet and well-mannered voice.

Raising her head, she looked back and forth at the feathered pair that were perched on the goddess' shoulders. It was an interesting thought, to have two birds as companions, but it almost seemed more fitting; after all, they could fly just like their winged friend. Maybe Latifu should think about searching for a companion. Maybe then her journeys wouldn't seem too lonely.
Latifu straightened herself, putting a proper smile back on her face. This goddess didn't seem to be mean in the least, but she still didn't want to seem rude.
"My name is Latifu. And it's wonderful to meet you, Kilunzi." Nodding her head, her long braid bounced back and forth.

Kilunzi shyly returned Latifu's smile, and felt cautiously optimistic that perhaps she would be able to have a pleasant interaction after all. Something about the lioness's demeanor indicated that she had a degree of familiarity with gods and goddesses. She seemed excited to seem Kilunzi, but not awed and confused, as most mortals did. Kilu had to wonder who the lioness had met, but wondered if that would be a polite question or not.
She decided to think on it some more before asking and said something else instead.
"It's very nice to meet you too. I don't . . . spend much time in the mortal lands. I guess you recognize that I am a goddess," she added. Of course, it was quite obvious by the fluffy, feathery wings on her back and the silvery markings that subtly glowed and shifted slightly in the sunlight.
"I hope I am not intruding on any particular territory," said Kilunzi, mildly concerned. She knew that some mortals were very territorial and didn't like intruders on 'their lands'.

"Ah, I can understand that." Smiling softly at the goddess, Latifu knew that the mortal world didn't really have much of an appeal, especially if one had another option to go to. Oh, if only she had the ability to follow to the land of the gods - she couldn't think of a better place to live. Although, she didn't actually know anything about that place, so it could have been the most awful place imaginable for mortals. But even the thought of being able to walk alongside gods and goddesses just thrilled her to pieces.
Alas, it was just a far off dream. She'd never ask any of the gods she met to take her there; though maybe one day she'd gather up the courage to just ask about what it was like.
Returning to the conversation, Latifu bounced a bit on her toes. "Yes! I was a cub the first time I met a god." Thinking back, that one moment seemed to decide the rest of her life for her. "You're one of the prettiest I've ever met, though." Her voice grew softer, and got a little quieter; she hadn't really planned on saying that out loud, but it's not like it was a bad thing. And this goddess truly was, with her pure white wings, and markings that seemed to chase each other like the wind.
"No, I have no claim to this area." Turning her head to look around, she hadn't really looked at it since running over here. It all seemed the same to Latifu; tall grass, scraggly trees, a few rocks every now and then. The only differences she really saw was when she wandered towards a pride, but for obvious reasons she turned away.
"But~!" Returning her eyes to Kilunzi, her mind was brimming with questions. "Have you come to the mortal world for any particular reason?"
