Amira stretched a bit as she woke up. It had been quite a while since she had slept this late in the morning. She was shocked that non of her friends had come around earlier to wake her. She always welcomed them to wake her from some frolicking among the flowers. While Leilani couldn't shrink herself, it was always fun to go "Flutter Hunting" with them. When they got bored, Leilani was always up for sharing (really hearing) stories of their breed of ponies. Today seemed like it would be much different though. No one was around. "They must have things to do today," she told herself, albeit a but sad. "I bet there would be more flutters down in the other meadow!" she said, getting a grin on her face. The was a smaller field that Leilani never visited. She always thought she'd have much better luck meeting friends in the larger meadow, but she knew she had probably already met everyone that hung out there.
Leilani first made the short walk to the stream to get a sip of water before heading up to the meadow.

The afternoon air was turning crisp. That didn't mean that the flowers still grew in the area that Tsaheylu found himself in though. He cast a grimace at the greenery around him as he stalked forward trampling the delicate blooms under his hoof. The sun's rays were just beginning to warm the wings on his back as he crouched lower to the ground. While he'd learned a few lessons from that little naive filly he'd been able to repeat the luring technique to perfection. He mimed the act of smelling flowers and that would usually draw at least some attention to himself. Unless it was his wings unique coloration. Whatever it was sometimes he was lucky and it resulted in him languishing in his victim's death. He'd draw it out sometimes if he wasn't hungry enough for the kill but most often than not his victims had no sense of danger until the lethal strike that ended their pathetic lives.
Priding himself on learning from each experience Tsaheylu crouched and waited with infinite patience. Soon. Something would have to come along sooner than later and he could begin his cat-and-mouse game anew. His wings twitched in anticipation.

Leilani sipped a bit of water, today making her "morning routine" a bit more exaggerated. She had no real plans, except that of laying among the flowers again, but as she thought of just how long she had been searching for a flutter, she began to think that they were just myths. As she lifted her head, she noticed a very small berry bush alongside the river, with just a couple of berries. She grabbed one, gave it a few chomps, and swallowed. The juice dribbled a bit, and Leilani raised her foot to wipe it away.
Leilani finished her breakfast, and turned to make her way towards the small meadow area.

It had been said many times and Tsaheylu still hadn't had the lesson sink in but waiting was indeed the hardest part. It had taken a lot of restraint not to go chasing down every rustle in the grass. His stomach called out loudly for the sustenance that it desperately craved but his mind kept an iron grip on his body's movement. Only his wings continued to snap open and close at random intervals. Luring prey to him was taking its toll on his anger though. His fangs poked through as he tried to perfect a facsimile of a smile before abandoning the effort. It wasn't worth it to fake a smile and blow all chances of frightening his prey away.
Rising to his feet, Tsaheylu made a small circuit of the meadow to loosen the kinked muscles in his legs before letting his gaze sweep the horizon. All seemed too quiet as if life held its breath; waiting to see what would happen next. He grumbled a few choice words before settling back into his previous position. His sharp hearing had picked up something approaching. He whispered under his breath, "Let the game begin again."

The meadow looked very inviting as the flowers moved slightly in the breeze. The grass seemed to overgrow a bit, so Leilani would have a bit of a hard time seeing anything, but she was going to at least enjoy the breeze and spying a new friend. As she made her way, Leilani had picked out a small area that would be perfect. "That spot looks so inviting!" she said to herself, focusing on a small patch that jetted out from the rest of the meadow. "I shall relax here for a bit," she said as she approached, oblivious to any of her surroundings. "Anyone around?" she called, knowing that even if something was around, it probably wouldn't make it known to a complete stranger.

Tsaheylu pricked his ears forward. Someone was indeed coming into the meadow. How lucky was he? Would his next plan work though? Tsaheylu's gaze picked out movement as a white mare with a purplish toned mane and tail entered the clearing. He ducked down further into the grass to observe the mare. She didn't seem like she would be a threat to his game. However she would not know it but this encounter would forever be etched into her psyche.
As the mare's words called out Tsaheylu slowly rose from his hidden location. His black pelt felt warmed by the sun and he gave an involuntary stretch of his limbs before letting his gaze return to the mare. "I am around. It is a pleasant day is it not?"

Leilani was caught of guard, as she never intended to get a reply. After all, she hadn't seen anyone around. It took her a moment, but Leilani turned to where the voice was coming from. As she turned towards the direction that she had herad the voice, her heart dropped. Leilani was in the presence of the most stunning stallion she had ever seen. She stared at his beautiful wings, and as soon as she started talking, you could hear the excitement in her voice. "Oh, Hi!" she said, "Um, I'm Leilani. Whats your name?" she asked. She gave the stallion no time to answer. "Wow, you are just as stunning as they say you are! Your markings. So pretty!" she blurted out. Just a second later, she realized, he probably wouldn't take kindly to be called pretty. "I mean handsome... yeah, handsome." she finally finished.

At first Tsaheylu was confused by the mare's rambling. 'Just as who say?' That caught his attention. Was he gaining notoriety? It couldn't be that. reality reasserted itself a moment later. 'Stunning?' Tsaheylu rolled his eyes in disbelief. This mare had no idea who she was addressing. He was a skinwalker, known to torment, maim and kill. However he could hide behind his other side. It seemed that it was this side that the mare seemed excited about.
He could sense nervousness rolling off the mare as she corrected her assessment from earlier. Apparently he was handsome. That had to work in his favor. Moving out of the patch of grass he stood in Tsaheylu slowly approached the mare taking in the delicate creature. His eyes roamed the clearing at the same time. They were alone. How ... perfect. He could toy with this mare for a while. The afternoon was looking up for him at least.
"You are rambling my dear, but I thank you for the gracious compliments," even as he ground his teeth on the next sentence he managed to spit it out. "It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Tsaheylu."

"Oh, I am so terribly sorry," she apologized, slowing down her thoughts for only a second, " Its just...."She stopped for a moment, took a breath, and continued, "I've never seen one of you before. I have heard many stories about your type. I have laid in fields much like this one, just thinking, studying all about your kind. The stories I have heard from others, and the stories I have told myself, they are ALL true!" she rambled, " I mean, look at your wings!" Leilani, now feeling very confident, took a few steps closer to the stallion. "They are amazing!" She said. "The look just like they are sparkling in the sun!" She tried to get much closer to see them, and possibly even actually touch them.

Tsaheylu snorted softly. Leilani was still rambling. The skinwalker itched to sink his teeth into the mare if only to cease her talking. An eye roll was the only visible sign that he gave towards his growing anger. As the mare closed the distance between them Tsaheylu's wings gave an involuntary twitch. The colors were unique he had to admit and the way that they lured this foolish mare towards him was to his benefit. Tsaheylu held his breath as the mare gently closed the distance between them and gently nosed at the wings on his back.
The urge to turn and lash out at the mare was growing too strong to ignore. Tsaheylu's mouth watered with Leilani's closeness and his fangs poked out and he longed to sink them into the mare's body. "Leilani, have you heard other stories about my kind?"
The idea was to keep her distracted. However it wouldn't hurt to play a different sort of card. Tsaheylu inhaled deeply. The stallion's eyes suddenly closed as he lurched forward. The skinwalker buckled and fell dead weight at Leilani's feet. Would the mare take the bait and try rousing him? The surprise would be hers either way. The attack would be sudden and swift.

Leilani paid no attention to the stallion as she focused on his beautiful wings and how gorgeous he looked. In fact, she was so deeply enthralled in him, she barely heard what he had said. "Oh yes, I have heard many stories about your kind!" she said excitedly. As she looked over him once more, she began to notice the "decoration" that he wore. "Oh my! Your "skin" atches your wings, how pretty!" How did you..." she started to ask before the stallion suddenly dropped.
Leilani had no idea what to do. How could she help this stallion? What was wrong? Of coue she was still so entralled, but she needed to help, and she couldn't run away, so she did the next best thing....
"HELP!' she yelled, "If anyone can hear me, help!"

If Leilani had paid any heed to Tsaheylu as he lay at her feet she might have seen one eye open lazily. He had to lock the mare's position in his mind for the next part of his plan. The mare's cries for help were lovely to listen to. Soon though, the cries would not be an attempt to render aid for him but to seek out help for her sake. She would learn the lesson of what a skinwalker's teeth and claws could do very shortly. Tsaheylu inhaled a slow, deep breath and felt the muscles underneath his pelt ripple with excitement.
The hunt was about to begin. Tsaheylu "came to" abruptly and in one smooth motion rose to his feet. He took in Leilani's bulk and size before making a light tsking sound. "My dear you are entirely too trusting. I'm afraid that I must make you suffer for your naivete."
With those words Tsaheylu the "flutter" was gone and in its place was a hungry looking panther.

Tsaheylu flexed his claws into the earth before springing towards the mare. He wanted to go for the mare's throat. He knew that he would have to be wary of Leilani's horn but the blood lust coursing through his mind counteracted logical sense. At the best at least his attack was sudden. An angry yowl was torn from his throat as he gave into his baser instincts.

Leilani was stunned that the stallion had disappeared so fast. She looked, and for a moment tried to understand. In the instant that the flutter had shrunk down, the coat he had been wearing was now alive. "Hey, um..." she started moments before the cat started talking. Leilani had not realized that cat was in fact the stallion she had just been talking to. "Why? Why would you want to hurt me? And what did you do to that handsome flutter?" Leilani was to confused to think straight, and to even understand what was happening, it was all so quick.
