User ImageRiddlemouth had told him to check out the newest member of the pride. Well, that was easier said than done, as Stormclaw wasn't a very friendly sort of male and frankly he wasn't very curious, either. It wasn't until his uncle started making threats to send cubs and annoying young ladies at him that he finally fled the den and anywhere else he would normally relax and found himself heading towards where the curiosity his king had mentioned lived.
He didn't want to deal with the boys when he wasn't training them and he certainly didn't want to deal with Siren. He didn't mind her sister, but then that wasn't much of a surprise any more than his disposition was. Livya was a much more calm individual. But if anything, she had her paws full with her wild sister. He wasn't about to bother her.

He stopped at the entrance to the den, his ears perked forward though he had something of a bored or at least stoic expression on his face.
He cleared his throat to make his presence known, peeking in to see if there was any sign of the male. Hopefully this interaction would be quick and painless.

It was far too easy to sneak up on him. It was perhaps a small miracle that the lion hadn't been killed in the roguelands. He had been captured, which hadn't been much of a task for his captor, and that was perhaps bad enough. He chose when to be observant. On occasion even Shandor was surprised by the sharp eye and quick mind of the outsider. He noticed small details that were easily brushed over, he could figure out small puzzles that had been given up for enigmas by the rest of the pride. Sometimes his smarts were almost scary. Then there were times, such as today, when the lion seemed absolutely foolish.

He spent hours mixing the right color, muttering to himself and laughing at his own jokes. He would go for days looking for the right berry, grass, or dirt and spend even longer mixing them. When he had the right color, he would have to seek out the right surface. Bark, stone, pelt- today it was the underside of a gazelle hide for instance. One he'd spent days drying out and stripping excess flesh from.

His subject? Birds. Seagulls, their wings, their bones, their eyes. He dipped his claws into the dye and began carefully drawing out the strange animals. Their cries, their wings, their webbed feet. How curious they were! He couldn't get the images out of his head. They were so fascinating.

"Oh then they have that strange... females. Females are gray? Perhaps those are the young ones.... oh I have to catch one. Live if I can- dead ones... No no that doesn't look at all right..."

Stormclaw looked around the den and... and oh good gods. One eyebrow rose as he looked around it and the other joined it when his gaze landed on the lion residing there. He was painting. It wasn't really that uncommon of a past time, especially not here. And if he really looked at it, the male was doing a really good job. It looked fairly realistic.
But what he didn't understand was the muttering.
And the not even that the male was muttering about his piece, it was the fact that he heard none of his approach. Or the sound he had made to announce his presence. It hadn't been a soft cough, and yet the strange male hadn't heard him.

He cleared his throat again.
"Seagulls all look the same. Chicks are covered in gray fuzz," he said, trying even more to get his attention before moving any further in.

"Ohmygods!" Leo nearly spilled the small bowl of ink all over his work. With a few more quiet, senseless muttered statements, he pushed the bowl safely clear from his doodle and moved his ink-covered claw from the hide down to the rockey surface of his den's floor.

Looking up, he brought a paw across his forehead, effectively smearing himself with a long line of dark ink. "Heavens, don't you know it's rude to sneak up on someone! Manners, I swear, is a lost art here."

He took a deep breath to compose himself and looked down to his drawing. An odd welcoming statement... "Well... yes but there are adults with gray feathers and spots, then others with albony bodies touched only on the tips of their wings and tails. Quite fascinating. Some patterns are different- in fact it's not too much of a stretch to say no two seagulls have the same patterns on their wings and... f..." He caught the dull, stoic look the other male was giving him.

"....ah you didn't come to discuss the gulls or... my work yes well.." He straightened up. "How can I be of assistance?"

He just sort of frowned at the other male and shook his head.
"I did attempt to make myself known," he replied but went no further than that. It wasn't like he really cared much about what the strange lion thought of him. Riddlemouth's words continued to echo in his head and it seemed like his uncle's counsel was never too far behind. Both of them wanted to be a more friendly individual, but how could he? A friendly individual just wasn't what he was. He was rather cold, stoic, and generally a fairly independent male. His main reason for staying in the pride was because it was the life he knew, his family was here, and he really felt beholden to the pride. His place was here, protecting those who couldn't really protect themselves. Deep down, though, a part of him worried that if he ever left the pride, he might just become the creature he'd always had visions about.

Stormclaw let the other lion ramble on for a bit before he was addressed again. He merely shrugged in response, though.
"The king told me about you, as a patron I was curious." And pretty much forced into the meeting by two too many busybodies.

Lewenharto sighed and put a paw to his forehead, once more smearing ink across his fur. It didn't seem he was aware of it, or perhaps he simply didn't care. He had a decent coat but there were patches of odd coloration stained into his pelt from various dyes, charcoals, or stains. The rattled lion offered his guest a good-humored smile and shrugged his shoulders. "I tend to retreat inside of my head a little more than I should. There could be a thunderstorm raging about outside but get me into the right train of thought and you'd be better off announcing yourself to a stone." He chuckled. "Sorry to have startled like that. You're right, it's my fault."

He straightened up as the male eluded to his visit's purpose and mouthed an 'ah'. So Shandor had sent him. Perhaps to gain more perspective on him, perhaps simply to get his patrons familiar with him. He was an outsider, so it made some sense.

"Well being curious is hardly a crime now." He nudged the male with an elbow. "It leads to a many great things you know. Knowledge starts as a question. Speaking of, do you have any for me?"
