Chamba was taking a moment to get away from her little ones. She loved them dearly. However four cubs was a lot to deal with on her own, even with the help of the pride. To imagine she almost had eight to take care of! Thank goodness that Uthuli took half the litter with him to Mwezi'Johari. She missed the other four cubs very much, but she knew that they would be happy with Uthuli.

Most of her time was now spent dealing with her cubs. She didn't mind for the most part. However she did miss the little social time she did spend with her fellow lioness. She decided to take a short break from being a mother and venture around the pride in hopes of making some new friends. If all went well she wouldn't be long too awfully long. She didn't want to be away from her cubs for too long.

For the most part she kept to herself as she walked around the pride lands. She had always been a bit shy, even know as an adult she had a tough time talking to others who were not family members. However she realized that she needed to have friends outside her family. Their was an entire pride of members who she could befriend. Today she was determined to make at least one new friend!

Bangs- check. Back- check. Tail tuft- check. Barazahi was curled near a small and calm water hole, checking and putting into place every last little hair that could possibly be out of place. This was a typical behavior for her in the long run, but not recently. Recently, she'd been letting herself slide, and that, she had finally decided today, was quite enough of that. (And really, by letting herself slide, her tail had a single blade of grass stuck in it, and her fur atop her head was just a little disheveled. But for the blue lioness, this was a big deal.) Besides, Angu wouldn't want her behaving like this if he was still with her.

She gazed back into the pool- she was her normal self again- at least on the outside. But soon, she would be on the inside too. She had spoken to a passing rogue not long ago who mentioned the Pridelands as a good home- and as he had described it, it would be an excellent place indeed! Fertile lands, friendly faces, open-mindedness, and generally speaking, peace. Yes, she made up her mind then and there that she would head that way and make it her new home- her fresh start, her own little paradise. And today was the day! She was going to march herself right on in there, be seen by someone, and immediately be accepted- who could refuse this face? She winked at herself in the water, and was certain of her perfection before she rose again to her paws.

The lioness entered the Pridelands cautiously, looking around for another pridemember. Her eyes fell onto a brown form ahead and she headed that way.

Chamba noticed a blue lioness heading toward her. She instantly felt nerves flooding over her. A small smile spread on her maw. Even if she was nervous she wanted to seem a bit friendly. It wouldn't do if she had a frown on her face. She couldn't remember this lioness, though she was sure she ought to because of how pretty she was. After thinking on it she decided the lioness must be new to the pride.

She took a deep breath in. This was her moment, she reminded herself. "Hello there!" Chamba greeted when the lioness was close enough. She was thankful her voice came out much calmer than how she was feeling right now. "I um haven't seen you around here. Are you new?"

She hoped her questions were too prying. All she really wanted to do was have some small talk. There was no such thing as instant friendship, she would have to work her way up to it. For now she would settle on being acquaintances. At least than she would have felt she accomplished something! "My name is Chamba by the way." She gave a small bow with her head. So far so good, she thought.

Raza smiled as the stranger got her purpose right. With a smile she responded "Hello!" Her steps and stance became a little more relaxed and natural. To be honest, the lioness had never truly joined a pride. While she had had to return to the Mteo after being in the roguelands for a long time with her family, she was a citizen by birth. Joining a completely new pride was a little... Well, more nerve-wracking, but not much!

"Nice to meet you, Chamba," she said, giving a small bow of her own. "My name is Barazahi, and I'm looking to join. Well, assuming these are the Pridelands, that is," she said with a small chuckle. After all- she didn't really want to join the wrong pride by accident! She was pretty sure that there would be no trouble joining, who wouldn't want such a beautiful lion amongst their ranks?

She was new, Chamba thought with a grin. It was nice to meet someone new instead of someone who had been inside the pride. "It is very nice to meet you Barazahi and yes this is the Pridelands." She remembered being a small cub and coming to the pridelands for the first time. It was terrifying, yet so exciting. "I think you would make a wonderful addition to our ranks. I have been here since I was a cub. My older brought me and my sister here to live. None of us regret it."

If her family wasn't here with her she knew she would have struggled to find a place in the pride. If she had come in like Barazahi, she knew she would have had a hard time getting to know anyone and would probably keep to herself instead of meeting the other pride members.

"If you don't mind me asking where were you from before coming here?" Chamba was always curious about the different lands and distant prides. They all seemed to have their own special touch. She wondered if this beautiful lioness had been apart of a different pride before coming here.

"Good to hear," she said honestly. Regret was not something she needed in her life- she hoped the same would be true for her. "Sounds like an interesting experience- so you remember coming here in your youth?" she asked. "I too remember going to my last pride- but as a young adult," she said with a nod. That time in her life was a little troubling... Introducing to her mother that she and Angusho had become mates, that was a dreadful time. But good- it all turned out for the best, she thought, except for recent events.

"No, I certainly don't mind," she said with a nod. "I come from the Mteo'Nyungu pride. But it disbanded not long ago... I was born into it, in a way. But my mother was very frail, and we needed to leave for her sake- the plague quite a while ago made it dangerous for her. So by the time we came back, I was an adult, and it was the first time I had seen the pride that I can remember. It was nice there, but secluded, and we kept away from rogues," she said. That had been something she didn't truly like. She followed it- avoided rogues- but she certainly wouldn't behave that way if given the choice. "But one of the things I like about the Pridelands, from what I've heard, is that they're pretty open. All sorts of species and lions- it makes it colorful," she said, repeating what she had heard from the rogue. She looked to Chamba to verify that claim.

"I do remember. My older brother brought my sister and I here after our family past away. My sister Hima and I were just cubs when we came. I don't remember much of my family before the pridelands, just us leaving our old home." At this point she couldn't even remember what her parents and other brother looked like. In fact she almost forgot she had another brother other than Jambazi. Her siblings hardly ever mentioned him since the day they left.

"Mteo'Nyungu," she repeated it aloud so she could remember at a different time. "It sounds lovely. I am sorry that it got disbanded and I am sorry about your mother." She decided it was best not to pry any further into her family life. Chamba still had a hard time talking about her parents. She knew that even leaving family was difficult.

She nodded her head. "The pridelands are very welcoming. There are even some hybrids in the pride, though there aren't that many. I haven't really been able to get to know any of them. To be honest though I spend more time with my cubs than with any other pride member. This is my first time out really since becoming a mother." She admitted, feeling fairly embarrassed about it. She wished she was more out going, but it was difficult for her. There were only a few times when she wasn't complete nervous wreck when talking to someone new. Luckily, she thought, this was not one of those times.

Barazahi listened to Chamba's story, "I see, so you're not all that different from me!" she said with a smile, "Though, you moved when you were younger- I was older when I moved," she said with a small chuckle. She smiled, too, that what she had heard was right- they were an open and welcoming people. She was glad for that- it fit who she was. "Ah, so you're a mother? I know how that can be- cubs need a lot of time," she said with a nod. "I've been a mother to two litters- both are full-grown and left, but it's worth the time they take," she said, not sure if this was Chamba's first litter or not. She too, didn't want to pry.

"It's nice to get away though, too. Just for a bit," she said with a knowing wink. Perhaps Chamba would be her first connection here in her new home.

"Two litters, oh my. I don't know how you could handle it. This was my first litter and I had eight little ones. Half of them went with their father though. We decided that would be better than me raising all the cubs, especially since when I had them I was so young." She knew that once her cubs were grown she would be interested in having more cubs. She loved being a mother to her cubs, even if they could be troublesome sometimes.

"Diversity here is wonderful. There is a good mix of lions and other species. And everyone around here is kind. I have yet to meet anyone mean yet, though I honestly I haven't met that many people. But everyone I have met is simply wonderful." She was glad to have met Barazahi, they shared a similar past as well as motherhood. "If you ever need any help, feel free to find me. I would like to help you out any way I can."

"Oh my goodness, eight!" Raza said in mild disbelief, but a smile on her muzzle nonetheless. "That must have been quite an experience! Well, if you ever want some help or anything on any day... I wouldn't mind- I love cubs too, and sometimes it helps to have an extra pair of eyes on them," she did hope she wasn't being too nosy or pushy with it, but she wouldn't mind visiting Chamba sometime. And cubs could be a handful, sometimes a little extra help is very much welcome. At least from her experience.

"That sounds delightful," Raza said with a smile. Diversity and openness was something that was more rare back at home- and she could understand why that was. But she had to say, with her having been raised in the roguelands, it was difficult to adjust to, and she never did get used to it. This pride seemed more in line with her values than her birthpride, even. "Thank you so much, Chamba. You've been very kind- and help or not, I'm sure we'll meet again," Raza said with a broader smile and a nod. It was time to find and finish formalities with the leadership, and she was relatively certain she knew the way from here... It was as the rumors said- just go to the rock.
