Kadryn felt so much better after her talk with her father and uncle. Now she knew this happy and slightly overwhelming feeling she got from danger wasn't something she alone felt. Her uncle and her grandpa also felt it! And it would help her in her fights too! Smiling, Kadryn drew in her wings and dived down from her lofty position on the sky. As she swooped and zoomed among the trees and enjoyed the wind in her face, Kadryn noticed a flickering shine to her left. Quickly furling her wings, she quietly landed on a large tree branch, waiting, watching; that shine had looked so much light sunlight on scales. A grin stretched across her face, a dragon! Feeling that new feeling of exhilaration, of battle joy, Kadryn threw herself at the Ysali dragon. As they battled, Kadryn tried some new tactics her uncle and father had taught her, of dive-bombing to increase the weight behind her blows and using the speed of her smaller self to zip around the larger slow bulk of the dragon. As she laughed and felt the thrill of battle flowing thru her veins, Kadryn swooped down below the dragons head aiming at its softer underside. Suddenly stopping to spin in midair, she lashed out with her whole body to attack the dragon’s soft throat with all the force of her spin and swoop behind it. As it croaked out its last cry and fell twitching to the ground, Kadryn felt a fiercer feeling overtake the battle joy in her blood. This joy was not the calm and strong exhilaration of before; this was a fierce feeling, one with a bloodthirsty sting to it. She'd won! She'd killed her first dragon alone! Kadryn walked over and picked up the glowing orb. She'd done it! Suddenly she threw back her head and roared her happiness and pride to the bright blue sky. She'd won!
