Alright, two new ideas I had was to either do a casino in the guild, based on this one casino that I saw (has to shuffle inher guilds to find it) Herrm. For some reason I cannot find it, so I may not be with that guild anymore. Basically it was a rng casino, and the bets could be that they think their number will be higher or lower than the other persons.
or do a token to ticket exchange, make it a shop and put it in the gaian forums.

How would the casino work? It's thread based? I'm just a bit confused on how it works. sweatdrop

The casino would be thread based here in the guild as a fun activity for us to do. Basically, a person will initiate the gamble, and the first person to quote them about the terms and rolls for it, is the one they are gambling against.
basically, from what I remembered the terms would be something like
Person A: RNG 1-100 Lowest Number Wins Bid is 1k
Person A would then be quoted by person B, saying they accept the terms. Person A then rolls to get their number. Person B would quote Person A's roll, and roll their own Numbers. Afterwards, whoever had the lowest number is the winner.
so lets say Person A rolled a 23, while Person B rolled a 57. Person A wins, so person B would quote the rolls and say they were sending the trade to Person A. Person A would recieve trade and post that it was fully done.

After snooping around in the lotto forums, I understand now. It's a good idea. Perhaps it could be placed in the guild's Chatterbox forum? How would it raise money for the Ball though instead of individual members?

Can we do this in the forums? I like the idea of having games in the guild, but I would like to think that if members wanted to donate to the guild then they would do so simply with a trade. Not that I'm saying we shouldn't do this. We could do it in both!
I am liking the idea of having a big thread with animated graphics that blink fun colours like a real casino! In the forums we could have two options for people - lotto or slots. Slots would be rolling 5 dice (6 sided) and they get a prize according to what they roll: 3 identical numbers gets 10% of the pot and 5 identical numbers get 75% of the pot.
The pot is, of course, the gambling fee that people pay. For slots they can pay 100g per roll and they choose ahead of time how many rolls they want to make. This is fairly cheap because it's just slots.
The big money maker would be the lotto. 100g per ticket and the winner of the lotto gets either an item or some art that is donated by a member. I will volunteer to do one full-body, single figure, digitally coloured, OC or Avatar for the first month. We can get other volunteers from the artist committee. This is like our 50/50 raffle, but we're keeping all the gold and giving art. We can state tha the quality of the art will increase with ticket sales, too. This will change per artist, but for mine I would say the tier will go like this:
5k (in the pot) - portrait sketch 15k - portrait line art 30k - bust sketch 75k - bust line art 100k - full body sketch 150k - full body line art 200k - portrait colour (cell shading) 250k - bust colour (cell shading) 300k - full body colour (cell shading) +the higher the total of tickets sold gets the more details will be added to the picture. If we get a mil, I'm willing to add a figure!

I like that "higher roll" wins, too. We could have all three games in the casino thread biggrin People will need to clearly mark their posts with what they are rolling for, though. And they have a lot of good rules in there for rolling (like not deleting posts) and betting - ninja we should steal them!
Do you think we could manage a big casino thread with the people we have, Jessie, or would you like volunteers? We could ask two or three Host Club members if they'd like to RP as Casino employees; dealer, waitress, person who takes the bets.

well it depends on who exactly wantyed to be part of this. I can tell you want to, and I know I want to.
Kiss may want to.
So is 3 a good number, or would we need more?
we will be having three different types of betting going on (Art Lotto, High Roller, Slots), but it would be nice to get more of a guild involvement in this, and it'll be open to everyone, so its not like our guild memembers wouldnt be able to gamble.
It seems the gambling fee will be only towards the High Roller (no return)and Slots (possible return), because its being replaced by the lotto ticket cost in the art lotto. Our slots set up is good with the 5 6 sided die, so i wouldnt change that.
No return and possible return being how much they could actually win back from the fee pot.
The art lotto will have t have a time set first before we roll it out (like it could be once a month every month like our 50/50), so that we can clear the winning project with the artist and art committee. And I love the tier idea that you have set up for your volunteer art.
I believe the rules done by the Dolphin Mania casino are pretty solid and I would totally steal msot of them. xD
Our Middle Men can also be our mods, and those would be the people who are part of the thread (ie us and the host clubbers we get in for it), and could possibly be our committee heads as well.
However, seeing as this may be a big thread, we'd need to comb through every page to make sure nothing is gonig wrong and that every bet/slot roll has been validated. So if we make our host clubbers be the front of the house people (the people posting and stuff in the thread) I could probably work on a lot of the behind the scene stuff.

Yes, I like the idea of having a few people be keeping an eye on the thread while there are also people working behind the scenes on it. It is going to be a BIG thread, so if any guild members participate it would be courteous of them to hang around and also help moderate the thread a bit.
I am setting up a games forum to keep people having fun and active, but I think if they want to gamble it should be kept in one place. I am completely for having guild members participating, and I think the more the merrier since we'll all be having fun in the same place and we'll also be keeping the thread active.
The Art lotto should be once a month, but that could depend on the artist. I say once a month unless the artist says otherwise. Personally, I don't want to commit to anything less than a month because of all the other things I am working on! It wouldn't take me long to do a sketch, but if it gets to be a full-body colour then I would need a month for sure! (line art is my nemesis.)
So if we're going to go ahead with this, and because it is such a large thread, I think it would be prudent to have a test thread set up so that we can all look it over and make sure everything looks good before it's finalized. I say set it up in the guild, not the test forum, so that people don't need to look far.
And what I can think of off the top of my head that we'll need:
-volunteers (3?) from guild to moderate/play dealers -artist volunteers (2-3?) for lotto to alternate -graphics for the thread (since it's a casino I think making them animated is important!) -banners to advertise -pre-determine who is in charge of which activity: slots/high roller/art So people know who to go to for questions or concerns.
I can head the art part since it was my idea smile

Sounds like a plan. I can get the thread set up, and when its agreed on, I can post it with the Fundie Mule.

Should we post it with the Annual Ball mule?
The thread looks good so far!
In the Slots post I would add a mention that all the gambling fees go into a pot for EVERYONE who plays slots to win from. As it is right now it looks like they'd be winning a portion of their own gold, but they'd be winning from the total in the pot. Maybe we should keep track of the jackpot for each activity in the post, too, so people can see the jackpot increasing/decreasing?
Also, they need to pay 100g PER roll, so it should be clear that if they wish to roll 5 times then they will pay 500g, and so on. That way the jackpot will just keep getting bigger!
We should have a few reserved posts, too! Maybe before we get into the history of the ball we can have a post for special events? Every now and then we can waive the gambling fee on slots and have people win money directly from the Annual Ball for a "freebie week" or even a "double-action" month where the art lotto will feature art from a second artist for no extra cost.. oh, and even a "matching bets" week where the Annual Ball matches the bets of any high rolling bets? Stuff like that will attract more of a crowd, too. One of these per month would be great, I think.
Then of course we need a post for affiliates and another post for links to other Annual Ball threads/shops.
Can't think of what else to add to the thread though. You work fast, Jessie!!
