Her room was a mess, if you wanted to call it a room. It was a more open section in the labyrinth of odd forever twisting metal tunnels that she and her brother had found. It was her own room, Alek's was more towards the entrance, where she first found him as she stumbled upon this place some time ago only to discover her brother had found it first. This place could be frightening if you didn't pay attention to where you were going, but it had been 'home' as of recent with the passing of their second, adoptive father, and Kayin found comfort in the place. It was after all, where she got a very much needed wake up call of her rather unsettling behavior after all, and because of that she felt closer to not only her brother, but the entire Ice tribe. Well...at least they didn't groan when she graced them with her presence. It was a start anyway.

Her room, though, was covered with bits and baubles, from half attempted paintings to crudely made weapons of all sorts. Spears, swords, bows, staffs. There were lopsided carvings and what looked like a piddly attempt at a rock collection off in one corner. She had been, as of late, trying to find something that she could pursue, the thing that would empower her spirit and put a fire in her soul, but none of these things had come close to sparking the interest she had been longing for.

She laid on the only clean thing in the room, her bedroll. She sighed a heavy sigh as she looked at all these failed attempts around her and sighed again sadly. "Perhaps I am hopeless..." she whined to what she thought was to herself.

Things were always changing for Alek. First the loss of his parents, then he got a new family with his twin, then his adopted father passing away and his adopted sister leaving Zena. Part of him wished that he and Kayin had gone with her, but Zena was where he belonged. Thankfully even though most of the changes in his life had been negative two had been positive. One had been finding the place he now called home, and two would be the effect that this place had on his twin sister. Since she stumbled across him the two of them got a long better then ever, and even the Ice Tribe was accepting her more and more each day. Sure she was still the same Kayin, but at the same time she wasn’t.

Walking through the halls he thought about a lot of things. He had recently discovered what he thought would be the path that he wanted to take. He was skilled with offensive magic, and becoming a sorcerer was what he wanted to do. He still hadn’t told anyone, but he had started looking for a mentor in the tribe. Zhezald had been one, and he knew his adopted father would have been more then happy to help him, but unfortunately he couldn’t.

As he walked around he came closer and closer to his sister’s room, and happened to overhear her saying she was hopeless. With a smile he knocked on the wall. “Hello sister.” he said happily.

Kayin tilted her head up towards the noise of knocking, but other then that made no real effort to move any more then that. She smiled at him though before returning her head to the position it was in before.

"Hello brother," her voice was an odd mix between happy and sad, torn between her emotions of having her brother come and visit her and the pit she felt in her stomach that she could in fact never find any sort of calling. She rung her hands together. While he never really talked about it, Alek's prowess with magic always seemed to show through, and it was obvious, at least to her, that it would be a path he would take. She didn't know if he preferred offensive over defensive though, but that was something she'd rather him bring up to her as opposed to her asking about it. Still, she found herself slightly jealous of her brother at least having a possible set of talents to follow, while she was still coming up with nothing.

"Anything interesting happening?" she asked finally, pushing herself up to a seated position, looking at her brother expectantly. Perhaps he could get these depressing thoughts out of her mind for a little bit. She was finding all of it bothersome.

Alek smiled at his twin, it wasn’t like she should be surprised. Other them the two of them he wasn’t sure anyone else knew about their little home. Well he had told Zuri before she left, but the twins had received a letter from her recently and she didn’t seem like she was coming back any time soon.

“Not really. I was wondering if you’d like to explore a little today? Maybe map out some more of these tunnels? I think we have most of the place covered.” he said nodding. The two of them had mapped most of their home out, it was huge. There was enough space for at least three or four more people to live in there and still have room! However there were also rooms where he hadn’t stepped in, and if Kayin had been in there then she hadn’t sketched it out on their makeshift map.

Looking at Kayin he could tell that something was wrong, though he rather the two of them talk more about happy things or at least be walking around before she told him what was wrong. He could only hope that he could help his sister as she had helped him before.

Kayin grinned. Oh yes, exploring was always a good way to get one's mind off of more depressing thoughts. She popped up standing rather quickly, dusting herself off before reaching for some of the charcoal they had been using to sketch the map out with, just in case they found anything new today.

"Exploring is always a welcomed activity!" she said, her voice now excited. "You have the map, don't you?" she asked as she looked around for her exploring kit. It wasn't much, just a few bandages and some dried meat just in case they got hurt or lost while exploring. She also grabbed her waterskin and shook it, checking for water. It was full, so it made a deep sloshing sound. Last she grabbed a basic dagger, just in case they ended up meeting something not so friendly also living in their odd little home.

Watching his sister jump up Alek smiled. The two of them liked exploring together, and it was something Kayin was good at, more then half of what the two of them had found lately had been found by her. She seemed to know where they had been and which turns they hadn’t taken. Plus she was good at fleshing out the map. “Yes, exploring is always welcome, especially when in such good company.” he said with a smile.

“Of course I have the map.” he said tapping the tube he had put at the door. Before Kayin came he had tried exploring a little, but not only did he get lost often but he was also scared to run into something or some one. Kayin was the brave twin, not him. Watching his sister grab the things they would need he cringed when seeing her grab the dagger. Just the thought of meeting something that wasn’t friendly scared him. But he knew with Kayin he would be safe.

“Ready?” he asked grabbing a lantern and some tin to light the candle. “I was thinking we could go look at the tunnels back behind our little kitchen.” he suggested.

"Ah right. Haven't taken much of a look at those yet," she commented as she tucked her dagger away in her boot so it wouldn't be in the way. "Speaking of the kitchen, how are we on supplies? We might want to plan another trek into town soon," she noted as she hopped next to her brother with a nod before patting the tube herself with the closest hand.

"We're getting pretty close in exploring everything now at least once," she said before laughing a bit. "But then again we've said that before and then we found that giant maze of paths over towards the east side. Those took forever to map out, and I still think that odd metal circle thing does something. I mean it turns like the one on our door...." She placed her hand to her chin, pondering for a moment before shrugging. "But that's for another day." she said finally.

He tilted his head slightly to the side. “Yea, I do think we should go in a few days. Plus I have a letter for Zuri that I want sent so I have to get it to a messenger.” he said nodding. Seeing his sister happy he was happy. She was his twin, and honestly just about the only person he ever interacted with.

He started walking towards the kitchen, keeping Kayin at his side. “Yea we have at least ninety percent of the place mapped out.” He laughed when she mentioned the maze on the east side of their home. They were so sure that they found everything when they came across the maze. He rolled his eyes. When she mentioned the metal circle he thought about it. Neither of them knew what would happen if it happened to be a door. Were there other people living down here? Or maybe a dangerous monster was hiding back there. “Yes that is for another day.” he agreed.

As they walked towards the unknown he thought about how good his sister was at making maps. ”You know Kayin, your exceptionally good at making maps and exploring.” he commented with a nod. He knew without her he wouldn’t have dared to explore half the places they did.

Kayin shrugged off her brother's compliment. Yes, she had become rather good rather quickly at making and using maps. It was a skill she really hadn't event gave much thought on until now, but really, other then this random place, what good would that do her in the future. The world was more about surviving then exploring, so who would really want to hire her to make maps? No one, that's who.

"I suppose" was her only answer for a few moments as they walked to the kitchen. As her brother had mentioned, it wasn't all that large, but it vented to the outside which made cooking possible without suffocating in the smoke from the fire. Kayin could see the path they were going to enter and explore, and reached around, snatching up the map carried by Alek without a sound. She was quick to mark the entrance on the map, then looked to her brother, her foul demeanor gone once again.

"All right, you're holding the lantern so I can do the mapping, right?

Her answer was not the one that Alek wanted to hear, but at the same time he wasn't really surprised. Sure it wasn't the kind of skill that most had or most needed, but that was made it so special that Kayin had it! If she was the only one who could do these things then anyone and everyone who ever needed an explorer would have to have Kayin do it. Well he thought it was a good idea anyways...

As Kayin snatched the map from Alek he smiled. She could have just asked, he would have given it to her, but he didn't mind. That was just how his twin was. He peered over to see her mark the map and when she asked him if he was holding the lantern he smiled and nodded. "Yes I'll hold the lantern, after all if you can't see then there will be no exploring." he laughed as he motioned for Kayin to start.

For a little they walked in silence, not sure what to say Alek said the first thing that came to his mind. "Do you think people lived here before us? We haven't really found many things suggesting there were people here, but at the same time some places just don't look like they were made naturally." It was something he had been meaning to ask his sister but forgot ever time he had the chance.

Kayin nodded. "This place is defiantly not the work of nature, that I can be sure of," she commented as she fiddled with her map some to make it easier to handle.

"Perhaps it wasn't for living in though," she commented as she took a few steps, looking at the map still. "Perhaps it was built for some other purpose. I mean, there aren't really bedrooms or anything. We sort of just made rooms into places to sleep. Speaking of which, I just remembered I need to see if I can get another thick blanket from Theryk next time we go into town. My sleeping space still doesn't feel as comfy as I would like..." she said before looking at him.
