The brown lion journeyed away from the water hole where he met a fun and rather cheerful green cheetah by the name of Darnell giving him his friendship for such a warm and welcoming creature. He had been thinking about going to the pride to join their festivities yet if he could met one friend then maybe he could another to really get himself to....socialize before jumping into or more than likely being dragged into a group setting.

Eachann had walked long and far, coming up to a small mountainous area that was littered with caves that one could make a den out of for a long term living or a short term until one moved on. What Eachann needed was shelter from the sweltering heat. Poking his head into one cave he entered cautiously to see if there was anyone there. The last thing he wanted was to upset someone by intruding. That was really bad manners.

It had been a pleasant, quiet day. Arachne had spent her morning gathering that which she would need for the weaving she'd planned. It had all gone smoothly. When the heat of the day had decended, she returned to her cave. Everything was set out, arranged to her liking. All that she required now was the spider silk. The black cheetahess had retreated into a dark alcove to tease the silk from her pets.

She was concentrating so hard at first she did not hear her visitor. It was the skuttling of spiders away from him that brought her attention to her doorway. A large lion blocked most of the light. Arachne rose to her feet and ghosted forward. She knew her black coat would hide her well until the last moment. The light catching the green stripes first.

"Greetings, stranger." Her voice soft and melodic.

He felt that there was something here and froze, Eachann's fur standing on end that someone was there. It wasn't until the very last minute that he saw green stripes from the light behind him and took a step back, his ears perked forward listening to a soft yet melodic voice, feminine.

Stuttering Eachann shook his head and lowered his head slightly into a bow yet kept his eyes rooted to the female in front of him. The light wasn't enough to show all of her and it was rather eerie. "Forgive me for the intrusion. I was checking if this space was occupied. Now that I see that it is I will....Leave you in peace, miss." Eachann was very polite to everyone, most especially to females.

She could see that he sensed something. Perhaps it was the spiders skuttling. Or her cave felt like someone lived there. She tried her best to keep it comfortable for her spiders. Arachne gave a soft chuckle.

"It was not an intrusion. You are welcome to enter." She backed off so he would have room, and settled herself onto her sleeping place. One of her spiders tentively crawled up onto her back. "Had you come to get something made?" She wasn't well know yet, but occationally she got visitors seeking her out.

Eachann nodded slowly moving aside to let the light in to be able to see the female more noting that she was in fact a cheetahess. A part of his mind noted that he has been encountering more and more cheetahs, this female being the second one. Maybe that was telling him that he would get along best with cheetahs. Yes that could be it.

Mentally shaking himself he sat down to not go inside her den further and watched her. With a slight confused look. "I...No. No I was only searching for a place to stay for the rest of the day and into the night. I-" Eachann tilted his head to the side, a hint of curiosity in his pale eyes. "What do you make, if I may ask?" He looked around feeling as if there were many eyes on him.

Arachne tilted her head slightly. The lion seemed uncertain in her dark cave. She half closed her eyes in thought. He didn't act like one who'd come looking for her. Well then it mean he was an accidently entry. Not that it bothered her.

"Here allow me." She murmured softly. Rising to her feet she moved to the side of her entrance and slide a polished stone into the light. With a slow paw she turned the stone until its slanted surface reflected a bit of light into the cave. Spiders scuddled from the direct light.

Arachne moved back to lay down. "You are welcome to rest here until you are ready to leave." She smiled as he asked the expected question. "I weave. I can weave any material you'd like into something. Though I must say spider silk is my favor."

Eachann's eyes widen slightly at the sight of spiders, creepy crawlies that go bump in the night. Listening to her off he bowed his head, hiding a blush. "Oh no, I wouldn't want to impose on your space." He murmured then lifted his head up listening to her answering his question.

Spider silk....While that was rather odd and creepy in one sense it was also interesting that she would take something such as spider silk and create something with it. There was something dual about it. Looking at her with his curiosity he layed down on his belly to watch the female. "Fascinating....Is it....easy to gather spider silk?"

She arched her brow at him and flicked an ear. "It is nice and cool in here, while it is hot out there. However if that is your choice, then I shall not stop you." Her green eyes watched him with amusement. A deep amused chuckle drifted softly around the cave.

"As long as you don't try to squish them it is. Would you care to give it a try? I was gathering some when you stepped in." Most were scared or repulsed by her spiders.

The brown lion did realize it was much better to be there in the cave rather than it was out in the sun. Tilting his head to the side he felt he had a duty to help her since he did barge in unannounced stopping her from work. Looking around he felt a bit more comfortable here even with spiders. He would rather deal with spiders than snakes that was for sure.

Standing up, Eachann shook his smooth, wavy mane and nodded. "I will help you if you show me how. I owe you that much for allowing me to be here, miss....? May I have your name?"

"Arachne." She was pleased with his offer. Having him sitting nearby to talk to would have been nice, but this was better. "It would be a pleasure to show you." She rose to her feet as the spider on her back carefully adjusted itself to her movements. The cheetahess lead the way to a small alcove off the main room.

"Be gentle with them, and don't do fast movements." She cautioned, speaking in soft soothing tones. Arachne found the spides very relaxing to work with. Coaxing one to her paw, she showed it to him. "The spinerettes are here. Gentle stroke the spider to get it to release its silk. Be careful you don't take too much though." With a couple strokes of her paw she'd pulled the thin strands of silk out to show him.

Nodding the brown lion gave a faint smile. "I am Eachann." He murmured then snapped to attention following the cheetahess his own gait gentling on the surface. Sitting down he listened attentively and nodded once. Watching Arachne stroking the spider gently to release the silk, seeing a few strands. "How many strands from a single one would be safe to collect?"

Fin, unless you want a wrap up post.

"A pleasure to meet you Eachann. Are you passing through to somewhere?" She gave him a hidden smile. "I try not to take more than five at a time. That leaves them some for themselves." Arachne shooed a spider over to him with practised ease. She wasn't too worried. The spider would walk away if it didn't feel like it. She settled down to collect silk, adding it to her previous collection, and to enjoy the company of her unexpected visitor.

Bowing his head in respect Eachann gave the cheetahess a faint, gentle smile. "Yes but at the moment I'm currently occupied with helping a welcoming friend." He murmured then turned to the spider and stroke the critter gently to collect five strands of silk like how Arachne showed him, doing pretty well on his first time. For now he would enjoy the company of another new friend and learn as much as he could from her because she was rather interesting and unique.
