Rolled a two: Rock field:Tremors ripple forth from center-field as the basic floor shifts to a rock and dirt field. Rock towers emerge forth from the ground to offer a place of escape or an advantageous attack position. The breeze from the stadium air conditioners stirs the loose sand on the field, creating a mini sandstorm that reduces visibility. Lenore walked into the stadium shielding her eyes from the dust, Mephistopheles at her side. The duskull floated down to the rocky field to await his opponent.

Spinel trotted out onto the field, with Lyle close behind. The sand didn't bother the Sableye much, though it made his trainer squint and pull his hat low in an attempt to keep the dust out of his eyes.

Lyle knew Mephisto was tough so, he had to try and play this smart. "Spinel, try and freeze it with Ice Punch!"
His pokemon immediately bounded forward, one fist beginning to glow blue. As he got close to the other pokemon, he leaped up to try and deliver a punch.

Mephistopheles bowed even as Spinel rushed at him. "Greetings. I thank you for accepting my challenge. Let us begin." As he spoke,he phased out,and the sableye rushed through him harmlessly. Turning around, he sent a burst of ice flying after Spinel.

Spinel skidded as he hit the ground and managed to duck in time for the burst of ice to sail harmlessly over his head.
"Again, Spinel!" Lyle called, but the pokemon had anticipated the command and was already turning around. He leaped up at Mephisto again, fist glowing.

Mephistopheles quickly turned out of the way of the sableye's attack, blasting back with an ice beam.

Looked like whoever froze the other first would have a serious advantage. Now if only one of them would hit. Lyle didn't bother calling an attack, and Spinel didn't need instruction. He jumped off a rock pillar in order to turn quick enough to dodge the ice, then turned the jump into an attempt to pounce on Mephisto to smack him from above.

Mephistopheles failed to note the sableye dodging the ice beam and coming down from above, and he was quickly encased in ice.

"Way to go, Spinel!" Lyle cheered. "Now, Shadow Claw!"
Spinel trotted up to his immobilized opponent and grinned broadly. Then He drew back his paw for a strike as it became wreathed in swirling shadows.

Unhurriedly, almost casually, Spinel let more shadows twine around his paw before he slashed at his frozen foe.
