Fionnuala had spent her morning discretely nosing around the cheetah areas and asking quiet questions. The cheetahs she'd talked, or more listened, with had very good and positive things to say. Some had spoken of 'owners' and that had made her a bit nervous. She certainly didn't want to be owned by anyone. Sitting next to her sister, she finally spoke up albeit softly.
"Word among the cheetahs is good. Treated well, pampered really. There's racing, and if you don't want to do that then there's shows." She glanced nervously around her. "Some mentioned lion owners...." her voice trailed off. Aoife woud probably never tolerate that, which was perfectly fine with her. Fion looked at her sister. While she had been with the cheetahs, her sister had been elsewhere. She wasn't exactly sure what Aoife had been doing. Talking with lions, or watching the racing, or something like that.

Aoife looked to her sister, ears listening intently to the hushed words and a seriously passive expression remained on her face until the mentioning of lion owners popped up. Frown. "That sounds ridiculous." She replied softly, her more husky voice settling into a deep tone only her sister would be able to over hear.
Owners? Bah. Fion and Aoife didn't need owners. They could take care of themselves. From her own observations of the races it seemed like all the owners did was give 'their' cheetahs pep talks and what-have-you. It seemed silly. Fion and Aoife already did that stuff for each other, it was why they decided they would never race against one another. One to cheer the other to race, plus it meant they both didn't have weeks of downtime with nothing to do between a race. While one trained the other helped then cheered them on then they switched.
"I watched a race earlier. The cheetahs racing are pretty good. I also got to meet a healer... Apparently we have to pass inspections before we can race or something. Make sure nothing's wrong I guess." Her tailed swished behind her.

L1m3_gr33n_sh4rp13 I think you posted the wrong cheetah. XD As she expected. She knew that frown. A faint smile passed across her lips. Aoife didn't need a stupid lion telling her how to run. "It does. I guess the lions like to feel active too." Fion gave a slight shrug of her shoulder. They watched, and made bets on the winners. It didn't make sense to her. The white cheetahess had been beyond relief to learn Aoife never wanted to race her. That had been absolutely fine in her books.
Her ears flicked. So that's where she'd been. Fion didn't begrudge her sister just sitting and watching the race. It would be her, more likely than Fion, who would actually be racing. At the mention of the exam though she gave a shiver.
"What do they do?" She didn't want some lion, or worse, pawing her over. Maybe that kinda made sense, but what kind of cheetah wouldn't know if they were fit? She leaned in a bit closer to her sister for comfort.

Aoife gave a rare smile only Fion could bring up as she felt her sister scoot closer. It had always amused Aoife how even though they had differnet mothers, they were just as close as any full blooded sister might be. Perhaps it was because they had that slight variation in their personalities because of their differing mothers they got along so well, or maybe it was because their mothers never held any hard feelings to one another; either way, Aoife couldn't have asked for a better sister.
"Well, apparently some cheetahs try to cheat, or race when they are unwell, so the lion healers make sure you are feeling well and can balance or something. I guess it's okay, makes sure some other sickly cheetah cannot make one of us sick because they raced while they were ill." Sh lifted her paws and inspected her pads, frowning in thought. "They also lean on you, and poke at your paws to make sure they are in good shape. I don't know... I personally wouldn't mind racing some horrible unfit cheetahs, but I guess the lions want a good race that isn't one sided or something."
It was a bit weird to Aoife, that lions found such amusement in watching them race, but hey, lions were weird after all. But regardless, Aoife decided in her mind she was going to check out some of these owned cheetahs and see exactly why they subjected themselves to lions. Was it because it was just the thing to do, or were there some major benefits? Perhaps if there -were- good benefits, she would consider finding an "owner" for her and her sister. But at the moment, the idea seemed ridiculous to her.

Fion was grateful for the comfort of her sister. Nothing soothed her quite as much. The idea of joining the pride at first had scared her. With Aoife there, she knew it would be alright. Intently she listened as Aoife explained that some cheated. How did you cheet in a race with everyone watching? What did it prove to race when you were sick? Fion thought it showed how idiotic they were to race when they couldn't give it their all.
She decided it wasn't too bad if it helped keep others from getting sick. The paler cheetahess gave a slight shudder at the mention of the exam. Then came the reason behind it. Sport for the lions. What good was a race if the winner was already known before the race ran? She guessed that it might not be as interesting for them.
"So what are we going to do?" Fion asked her sister softly. What worried her was if they were required to have an owner and didn't know it. Could only one lion own a single cheetah; or was that one lion allowed multiple cheetahs? Fion didn't think she'd like it if she had to be separated from her sister. There was always the chance that the lions would ask them to race each other.

Aoife was glad her sister was there with her. Fion was easily the more charismatic, albeit maybe a bit shy at first, of the two, and Aoife had the competitiveness that drove them both. They balanced each other, and Aoife appreciated it. She gave a reassuring nuzzle to Fion as she heard the worry in her sisters voice and the unappealing expression she gained at hearing about the exams and cheating.
"If, and that's an if, we have to get an owner, I will be sure they understand our terms. Such as the agreement we will never race one another, we will never be separated and we will not be forced to breed with anyone we do not both approve of. If a lion doesn't like it, they can take a hike." Indeed, Aoife knew that if they had to get a lion owner, it would more or less be for show for the pride. She would not be bullied or ordered around by a lion, it would be quite the other way around. If they didn't need an owner and there were no perks to it, she would just keep the pair as a team and do it on their own.
"We're both good enough racers that once we prove it, any lion that wants to own us will have to agree to our demands. Unless they want to risk someone else getting two future champions." She said proudly as her tail swished behind her. The sisters had great chances of winning. All they had to do was play the game and train. Even if it didn't happen right away, she was confident in her and her sisters ability to run.

L1m3_gr33n_sh4rp13 Had something I was going to put and completely forgot what it was. Hoping I remember and can put it in another post. She gave a happy purr as she got a nuzzle from her sister. The verbal reassurance she got next did much to lift her spirits. Fion visibly relaxed and perked up her ears. She even took the time to scan the area. All was calm. A small giggle escaped her as Aoife clearly stated she'd be in charge. The image of a lion from here trying to take a hike was amusing. They hunted sure, but it looked more like only some of them actually did and the others just watched races.
"It might be a good idea to keep a tally of who attends races how often." She murmured thoughtfully. Her train of thought was immediantly pulled off track by the mention of champions. Fion knew her sister could very easily claim such a title. For herself, she wasn't so sure. Still. The pale cheetahess didn't correct her sister. If she thought Fion could be a champion then she'd do everything to make her happy and right.
There had been something else too. Fion frowned with concentration. A stray little thought that floated out nearly as it had floated in. She hoped she could remember it; it had seemed like it might have been important.

"When we eventually retire from racing you should become a show cheetah. You'll blow the competition away with your grace and pretty coat." Aoife mentioned almost as an after thought. She knew they would both be racers, but when they did eventually retire, or got tired of racing, she knew she wouldn't be cut out for being a "show" cheetah, but Fion? She had what it took, of that Aoife was sure.
Aoife would easily, and gladly be in charge, and tell any lion that tried to tell her otherwise to take a hike. There was no point in trying to boss the tan sister around, she was too head strong to take orders and took herself too seriously. Fion was the softer side of the pair and Aoife was the harder side. As the frown crossed her features, Aoife's ears perked and she watched her sister intently, wondering what was on her mind.

Fion shook her head as the stray thought lost itself somewhere. Perhaps she'd remember it later. For now, she leaned her shoulder comfortably against her sister's. With Aoife by her side everything was right for Fionnuala. She ducked her head with a nervous giggle. Her? A show cheetah? Certainly not. All those eyes staring at her, just thinking about it made her uncomfortable.
"Oh I think they would love your delicate browns Aoife. And that black mask makes you look striking. They wouldn't be able to forget you." Fion has always loved her sister's pelt. The subtle browns and white; danty black markings and the black mask all added to give her a refined and sophisticated look. She glanced down at the group below as it started to disperse. "I think they're done today. Shall we go in?"

Aoife smirked slightly at her sisters bashfulness. It always amused how they both envied the other for one reason or another. Aoife felt Fionn had a more dainty, delictae and unearthly beauty with her pale cream pelt and soft brown socks, while she looked more like a fierce predator, and while they were both beautiful, they always seemed to envied the others coat. "I'll make you try a show sometime, and prove you wrong." She said with a laugh as her sister cuddled up next to her.
Her ears perked as she heard the group below them begin to wander their separate ways then turned her gaze to her sister. "Yeah, we can go if you like. Might be a good idea to get some dinner. I'm pretty sure there's an area for us to find kills to pick at," She said before lifting herself up and looking to her sister. As she too rose, Aoife headed off with Fion in tow. There would be more time to playfully bicker who was prettiest later. They had training to start soon. Fin.
