I suppose you may call me...

Ӽαɳɗҽɍ, that's what I use nowadays and I'm not likely to give up my 'real' name.

Old enough to drink...

I am twenty years old, never said I was 'legal.'

So, you want to know my story...

I'm a half-breed, first of all. That's a mix of two races—if you didn't know. I will tell you right now that my mother was human, 'was' being the keyword there. She gave up her humanity, along with her mortal existence, so that she could be with my father. Touching, really. I was conceived before this though, so she had to wait until after I was born to off herself. No, she didn't actually commit suicide—not in the way you're thinking of it at least—but I feel that she might as well have. I know it was her choice to accept a deal that would change her into some other creature; a deal that would take her from the mortal plane. Yet, I despise her for taking it. Truth be told, I despise her for giving me life and then leaving me alone.

He came on the day I was born and she departed with him, leaving me abandoned in some tiny. hospital bed in a room filled with other infants. You would think that they would want their own son, right? Wrong. I was an inconvenience and nothing more. Why she chose to actually have me is still a mystery, because I know she had no second thoughts when she chose to go with him. They left me with nothing, not even a name. So much for a mother's love...

My mother was an orphan as well by the way, so I was truly alone. I went from one foster home to another, no one held onto me for more than a few months. I wanted that though. That's why acted how I did. I was the 'quiet' one at first, the one who was supposed to open up once they were shown love and then live 'happily ever after' with whomever it was that adopted me. Like that was going to happen. Next, I was the problem child. Then the rebellious one. I cycled through these personalities and more. I even played the 'runaway' for a little while.

Every time that I was brought back the family had a reason. I was 'too much trouble' or 'unpredictable' or, and this one is my favorite, I 'just wasn't the child they were looking for.' There were more, of course, but after a while it all sounds the same. Those three were simply the most common. As I grew older, I started to make a game out of it. I think my record was four hours before being sent back. Ah, that family had been fun to mess with.

You want to know my reason for never wanting to stay? I don't need people who are going to pick me out like a f*****g object. If I'm going to be with someone it will be on my own terms, by my choice. So I waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually, people stopped wanting me. They had heard rumors about me and no amount of coaxing could change their minds. Good. When I finally turned eighteen they were more than happy to be rid of me, and I of them.

I know, I know. I could have run, right? There's a few problems with that. First, if I was ever caught—an unlikely, but possible, scenario—I would end up back at square one. Second, I would have to figure out where to live and how to attain food—which would probably involve living under a bridge and becoming a thief. I'm not fond of living out in the open like that, and thievery would be too much trouble, so I stayed. Free food, clean bed, and people I could mess with. All in all, it was a fun life. I just grew tired of it after so many years of dealing with the same thing.

Two weeks later, I found out something cool: I can charm people. Not everyone, mind you. Though it does work exceptionally well on idiots. Thankfully, most of the people I run into are. That ability came in handy a lot during my travels. I could just charm someone to let me use a room in their house, or inn, and do same to get free food. So, I got to travel the world, eat and stay wherever I chose, and generally have a good time. All for free. Heck, I could even get money whenever I wanted it. Life was wonderful. Again, keyword there.

There's this thing called a 'camera' and I didn't really account for those. Yeah, little mistake caused a big problem. You see, I already have a pretty large file from my foster years and now that I was of 'legal age' they could implement harsher methods to...correct my behavior. They had no clue about my power, but they did have a recording, or several, of me walking into a bank vault and taking money. They, of course, assumed that I achieved this access by force and the workers were happy to pretend that they had caught a glimpse of some 'hidden weapon' on me to keep from getting into trouble. So, not only was I wanted 'criminal,' they knew what I looked like. Great, just f*****g great.

I do wonder though: Why did it take them two years to actually notice me? I would like to think it is because of my own skill, but I know that's not the case. I was having fun and being careless, they were just slow. Still, being a 'wanted' man made my life considerably worse. I would travel somewhere and there would be whispers. Eventually, people figured out why they recognized me and it was time for me to leave again. Tiring is one way to describe my new life. I must have visited seventeen different cities one week, it was horrible. As the days wore on the amount of things I possessed grew smaller until, one day, all I had were the clothes I wore.

I did finally stumble upon a remote location where they had practically no technology and, as a result, absolutely no idea who I was. Problem is, I got bored there very quickly. I mean, what do you expect? There was nothing for me to do. The village was fairly small and surrounded by trees, it was completely landlocked. There wasn't even a lake nearby! I prefer areas where I can swim, okay? Don't judge me.

Surprisingly enough, I received a letter inviting me to some place called 'Trinity Castle' two weeks later. Don't ask how they found me because I have no idea. I never leave any information behind. In fact, the only reason the police could identify me is because I already have a record. Yeah, I suppose I could have toned my actions down a bit back then, but oh well. Live and learn, right? Well, I suppose that's not true for everybody... Anyway! I got this invitation, and the town was pretty boring, so I accepted. At the very least this place could offer me a change of scenery.

What? You want to know more? Really? -sigh- Fine. I'm guessing that you're wondering why I know so much about my past if I'm an orphan...is that right? It's because I saw it, okay? I got some...strange abilities from my father. I call them strange because, well, it's not what you would expect me to have if you knew his race—I'm not telling you what he was so don't even think about asking. Actually, I suppose that one might, but none of the others. Oh, and, big crowds are bad for me. I may kill you if you drag me somewhere with too many people.

If you must know...

I am generally a fun-loving guy. Keep me entertained and everything will be golden. I don't get attached easily, though I have gotten pretty good at faking it. I'm loner, always have been. It's easier that way. It's not like anyone has ever wanted me for me anyway—they just want the things I can offer, or what they thought I could. I like my privacy, so keep your nose out of my business. Depending on what you do, I can be very easy or extremely hard to anger or annoy. Oh! I can be quite sarcastic too, just a heads up.

What can I do? I can't really show you...

For starters, I'm a charmer—literally. I can make people do what I want simply by changing the inflections in my voice or looking at them a certain way. The lower someone's intelligence is the easier it is for me to...persuade them into doing something for me.

I can 'see' things by looking through a reflective surface, like a mirror or bowl of water. Usually I am only able to view the past, but I can also see the present and, on rare occasions, the future. I'm not too terribly concerned with that last one so, normally, I don't even try.

I am an empath, meaning I can feel others peoples emotions as though they were my own. I have control over this for the most part but I can't handle being in a room with more than twenty or thirty people yet. I'll freak out. What? You try dealing with a multitude of emotions at once and still stay sane. It's not exactly easy...

Do I have any what? Oh those...

No, not yet. Perhaps soon though...

Μıƙı Tαƙıɦαɍα

Such an embarrassing day it was today! First, she flew into a wall since she went a bit overboard on the flying. Next, she lost her satchel which had EVERYTHING she had with her when she left home. Even the red silk - the only thing she had that belonged to her father - was in there! And now, she was lost! Could this day be any worse..? As Miki wander the always, she tried to familiarize herself to her surroundings so next time, she wouldn't be lost. "This day absolutely SUCKS!" She said out loud in a childish tone. "I should have never came here!" The half dragon pouted in frustration. Ever since she came to this castle, there has been nothing but trouble for her. She knew she should had just walked right past the castle in the first place!

While walking down the hallway - which seemed to never end - Miki yawned and continued to pout. At times like this, she grew impatient and rather grouchy like a child who took no nap. Without a second thought, the girl kicked off the ground and flew instantly down the hallway. She didn't care what happened last time! If it made traveling faster, then she might as well do it. No one could stop her...except...well, except the large stone pillar she flew into. "Ouch!!!" Miki screamed as her body bounced off the pillar and into a door. The wooden door, along with its hinges went down with the girl in a loud THUD. That kind of landing would have killed a mere human. Lucky for her, she was only half so it didn't hurt...that much.

"That hurt...." Miki whined as she rubbed her sore bottom. Once the pain faded away, she slowly got onto her own two feet and looked around. It took her a while to realize that it was someone's room. A master's room! The day automatically got worse. Both her hands smacked against her cheeks as her jaw dropped in an instant. "I'm dead...so very, very dead..." The girl mumbled to herself. She was going to punished for sure now...

Xander was spread out over his bed with one arm draped over his eyes to block out the sunlight. He was sleeping, or that was how it appeared anyway. In reality, the man was just bored. He had no desire to venture out of his room at the moment either though. Such feelings presented quite a problem for Xander since he would have to go against one to nullify the other. For the moment, he had chosen to put up with his boredom. It was a feeling that did not last long...

First he heard a loud scream outside his door. 'Hm, probably some idiot running down the hall.' Those dark golden eyes snapped open at the sound which followed the girl's scream. Did the idiot just crash into his room? Xander shot up from his resting place and marched into the next room moments later. Twin orbs instantly fixating upon his, now destroyed, doorway and then the culprit of said destruction. Well, wasn't this wonderful. At least he wouldn't have to pay for the damages...

Arms crossed over his chest, the man made his way over to Miki. "Would you mind explaining what exactly my door did to offend you? Or do you take pride in attacking defenseless objects?" The man questioned as he came up behind the young woman. Xander was, quite obviously, displeased with the damage her actions had caused. Now how was he supposed to lock people out? What was going to happen to his precious privacy?

On the upside, he was no longer bored; meaning she had solved his little dilemma of being bored and remaining in his room or going out to find some entertainment. Xander wouldn't let her know that though. He would rather see what kind of reactions he could get from her. Judging from the emotions he was reading off of her, the girl was frightened. So, Xander was going to start his little game by playing off of that emotion.

Breaking a poor door was just another thing to put on her 'Sucky Day" list. Obviously this day wasn't going well. But why..? Why did it have to be only her to have a bad day? It couldn't be someone else to have the bad day?

After bumping into the stone pillar and smashing a door into pieces, Miki automatically tried to place the pieces of wood back into it's large rectangular form hoping it would magically stay in place. But who was she kidding? There was no way to glue every single piece back together. She would have to buy a new door, and that was too expensive in her case! "Now what am I gonna do...?!

For a few moments, Miki just sat there staring at the smashed door when she heard someone walk up behind her. Someone unfamiliar. Someone...who seemed upset! She was in a world of trouble, or at least that's what it seemed. Hearing the man's voice, the half dragon girl pointed directly at the stone pillar she flew into and pouted. "It's the pillar's fault! It was in my way!" To her, the pillar was just pure evil! How dare it get in her way while she was flying? It was so rude!

At this point, the girl didn't know what to do. She didn't know who this raven haired male was, and it didn't seem like he was interested in introductions. He seemed more interested in why his door was smashed to bits and what the hell she was doing in his room. Anyways, there was no time to explain the whole story. "Listen, I'll fix your door, or buy you a new one when I get the money, but...just don't be mad!!" Miki had a slight begging tone. Like a child who doesn't want to get in trouble for what they've done. There was one lesson learned today: Never. Trust. Pillars. They're pure evil!

Of course, Xander would miss viewing the female's attempt to piece his door back together. It wouldn't have really matter to him though. In all honesty, he wasn't as concerned about the piece of wood as he seemed to be. True, people could now freely come and go from his room; but he still had his bedroom door to use for locking others out. He was simply more restricted on moving space at such times. Again, such a thing mattered little because, usually, when Xander wanted to be alone he would be laying down, not pacing or moving much at all.

The first words out of her mouth almost made him laugh. Almost, but not quite. Instead he arched an eyebrow at her then let his eyes shift to the object in question. "Really? You're going to blame an inanimate object? Or are pillars suddenly sprouting up from the floor? That would be exceedingly dangerous after all, especially since not all of us posses the ability to fly." A smirk began to pull at his lips as he spoke. This girl was giving him so many opportunities, it was simply a matter of choosing what tactic to follow. Letting her off easy seemed nearly too nice a thing to do...

Xander could be nice from time to time though...couldn't he? "Mad? Why would I be mad? I mean, you only destroyed the one thing I had to keep people from coming into my room uninvited." As that last word fell from his lips the man's gaze returned to Miki. "Clearly, it does not work as well as I was led to believe though." Her response had proven one thing for certain, she wasn't like him. Honestly, her responses seemed rather...childish.

"In any case, whoever owns this place will probably pay for that. Or they'll be the ones charging you..." Xander told her after a moment. "Oh, and it would be wise to get away from there unless you want a splinter." From his tone one would think that the man might have actually cared about Miki's well -being, such was not the case. He wasn't particularly fond of people in general, but women seemed to find a way to irritate him rather quickly—perhaps because of his past. "Why are you here anyway?" Xander questioned, meaning not simply in his room but the annex which they were in.

Sighing lightly, Miki stood up onto her feet while her eyes searched the room for a broom. The least she could do was sweep it up, right? Once she found what she needed, the girl walked over, took the broom and began sweeping up the wooden pieces into a dustpan. Hearing what he had said made her pout slightly in a mixture of embarrassment and anger. "Pillars are freakin' evil! Wait until one randomly pops up on you, you'll see!"

Once the pieces were cleaned up, Miki tossed them out. It was surprising that he wasn't fully angry with her. A lot of people were when she smashed and ran into random objects...Such a clumsy dragon she was... Anyways! The girl felt as if the man before her was using his sarcasm to make fun of her. Hmph! Sometimes, sarcasm just reminds her that she isn't all that bright.

Miki's slender arms crossed each other while her gaze looked at the ground as she tried to remember why she was even near the Masters and Mistresses rooms. "Oh! I was trying to find my bag! It has something really, really, REALLY important in there!" She exclaimed frantically as she frowned from the thought of it. Ever since she was little, Miki ALWAYS carried the red silk that she was found wrapped in as a baby. It was the only thing of her father's that she had, and now it was gone!

"You haven't seen it, have you..?" Miki asked with an innocent tone on her voice. Really, it almost sounded as if she was about to cry. And she was! It was important to her. Others would have cried if they lost something precious, wouldn't they? "It's the only thing I have of my dad...I don't even know if he's alive or not, but it's really important!"

Well, at least this girl had the decency to clean-up after herself. That earned her some points with him, not enough to make him stop his little game mind you. Xander treated nearly everything in his life as a game, it kept things interesting for him. He chuckled at her words. This was the first time anyone had ever told him a pillar was evil, and the way she was so dead-set on blaming the pillar for what happened only made this more entertaining for the man. "I'm sure I will. If such a thing ever happens to me that is. I mean, who knows, maybe you're just that lucky." Yeah, he was teasing her, but she made it so easy for him! And, Xander never passed up an opportunity to pick on someone.

The male leaned against the left side of his couch as he listened to the dragon girl speak. 'A bag?' Xander raised a brow at these words. If the item inside it was so important then why didn't she keep it somewhere that she would not lose it? Then again, this girl was pretty clumsy... He began to shake his head at her question, sighing inwardly at her tone and the emotion which accompanied it. Well, there went his fun.

This was why he didn't like to be around people often, he didn't need their emotions piled upon his own. That was the only way she was going to get sympathy out of him on this issue. Honestly, if not for his empathy the man's tone probably would have been a lot harsher when he responded. "Not that I can recall, I don't know what it looks like either though." He answered in a relatively emotionless tone. "You're welcome to look around for it." Xander added after a moment and shrugged.

Parents were a touchy subject for him. Sure, he'd had plenty of chances at having them...but that wasn't what he had wanted. Every child wants to be loved by their real parents after all, right? The fact that his own parents hadn't wanted him didn't help his view on the matter though. Knowing had only made things worse. At least if he'd been born without his abilities Xander would have been left believing that his mother had died and that there was the possibility of finding his father. This was his life though. Even if he could, he didn't feel the need to change it.

Hearing him tease at her made her automatically stick her tongue out at him. Did he not believe her! People who never took her advice on the evil pillars soon ran into one the next day, or at least the people who could fly... Anyways, she frowned slightly as he responded to her question with a simple 'no'. Sometimes, Miki wished she wasn't all that clumsy....or naive. "Maybe I won't find it after all..." The half dragon thought sadly with a small whimper.

Suddenly, Miki's ears picked up on a small grunt from a dog. When she looked up, there he was! "Pedro!! You found it!!" From sad, to extremely happy, the girl's emotions changed drastically. As Miki reached down to grab her belonging, Pedro immediately turned his head with the bag in his jaws. He wanted some type of payment as always.

Miki and Pedro met waaaaayy before she got herself into the slave business. She just happened to get lost when she saw him for the first time. Pedro actually had his life together more than she did! He knew his way from town to town, the best places to get food from, and new how to escape and not get himself caught by the dog catcher. On that day, the dog just helped her at random and unexpected moments. Most of them good while others...not so much.

"P-Pedro...C'mon.." Miki said with a chuckle. She didn't like how this dog operated. Finding things, then asking for payment. This time she didn't have anything to give him! What was she going to do? Quickly, Miki grabbed her bag, but Pedro yanked back and hard, ripping the bag in half. All of the contents inside were all over the floor. The red scarf, a few maps, trinkets from small towns, some candy, and an empty money pouch. From that moment, Pedro snickered and ran off like usual. Fleeing from the scene.

Miki sat there with the two pieces of her bag in each hand. She growled lightly in anger and frustration. How dare he play her like that! She didn't need that from mere dog! "Pedro! You owe me a new bag!!" She yelled childishly, and pouted.

Stumbling into a rather lavish room, Axelle was slightly dazed as she wasn't sure how she managed to get here, sniffing the air and detecting a male presence, she made herself appear smaller and crouched downward in fear, her ears back and her tail tucked between her legs as she shook while looking around. She was scared she had entered a forbidden room, something she remembered being beaten for mercilessly in the past. The moon shaped charm on her collar held her name and that she was, well, whatever she was here, that much she knew, but nothing else, only a name she had been called a time or two, her original name merely a faded memory mixed into teh pain.

A frown touched the male's lips as he sat up and ran a hand through his hair. Although it was his fault more than anyone else's, the man was severely bored. Staying in his own room all the time probably didn't help, but thus far his ventures outside of it had proved...less than fruitful. Tossing the comforter off his legs, the male turned so that his legs were hanging off the edge of the bed and stood up. He stretched his arms over his head, rolled back his shoulders and then walked into the bathroom, emerging sometime later with a towel around his waist.

Xander, who was now dressed in a pair of jeans, blinked and tilted his head to the side as Axelle entered his room. It wasn't that he had heard her, but more that he had 'sensed' her presence because of the fear she felt. The man wandered into his sitting area in search of the source, not really in the mood to deal with another person barging into his room. When he did locate the source of the emotion, Xander was surprised to see, not a person, but what seemed to be a wolf cowering in his room. That was not what he had been expecting.

Xander crouched down in front of the creature and offered his hand as he tried to coax her out of hiding. "Come here, little one. Nothing for you to be scared of here. What's wrong, hmm?" He caught a glimpse of the collar and charm around her neck, though not enough to make out what they said just yet. The sight of them did lead him to the assumption that she was someone's lost pet though. "Are you just lost?" He asked as he shifted to a kneeling position. He was, surprisingly, gentle in both his words and actions as he tried to get the wolf to come closer.

As she was in her familiar form, and that the size of a puppy, Axelle kept low as the male moved toward her, flinching back as his hand came near. When he didn't move to strike her, she slowly eased her body into a somewhat more relaxed position, gingerly sniffing at his hand and "reading" him to see if he was only playing kind to earn her trust and beat her like so many had before. Not sensing anything like that, she shyly licked at his fingers, her ears still back against her head and her tail still firmly tucked between her legs.
As she also held a human form, her red eyes scanned over his form, and had she been in skin rather than fur, her body would have been as red as her eyes. He was very well formed for a non familiar, something she could appreciate, though as he was still a male, she still wasn't comfortable enough to let her guard down. She had been hurt to many times before. She tilted her head at his words, wondering over them for a moment. Was she lost, when she didn't even know what had happened beyond the cage and someone feeding her enough to get her enough strength to move again? Everything was so blurry anymore, all remembering did was make her head ache.

A frown flitted across his features when the male saw how Axelle reacted to his movement. Had she been abused in the past? The pup seemed awfully young though...perhaps it was a runt? That smile returned as she seemed to relax a little bit, though he stayed still as she sniffed at his fingers. "There, see, I'm not going to hurt you." He said, slowly moving his hand to pet her head. Animals he could deal with, people...not so much. He scratched behind her ear for a moment then moved his other hand behind her to scoop her up.

Xander was careful not to let her get away, whether it be from squirming or trying to dart off, and carried her back into his bedroom where he set her down on the fluffy comforter. After he had placed her on the bed, pet her again and also picked up the moon shaped charm on her collar to see what it said. Unfortunately, all that was on it was her name and that she was a pet. The latter part seemed rather unnecessary to him, considering what she was, but who was he to judge? "Axelle, huh? That's an interesting name. So where's your owner at, girl?" He questioned, though an answer was, obviously, not expected. Still, she must have had one if she had this collar...right? Xander was now on his knees in front of the bed with his arms resting on top of it to hold himself up.

Easing her tail from between her legs, Axelle wagged it slightly as he pet her head. She couldn't remember the last time someone had been this kind to her. Closing her eyes to enjoy the sensation, she yelped and started jerking as he picked her up, fear making her tremble in his arms and try squirming away from him. When it was obvious he wasn't going to set her on the ground, Axelle went still in his arms.
The familiar didn't stop her trembling until she was trying to keep her balance on the fluffy bed, her eyes staring up at him with a trace of terror of what he had planned for her. Flashes of blurred images went through her mind quickly, leaving her stiff and a silent whimper lodged in her throat. When he didn't do more than pet her again and look at the charm, she looked up at him, trying to gauge his reactions to what the charm said. Tilting her head to the side, she sat down on the bed to keep from falling on it, and just looked up at him curiously.
'Can you understand me?' She asked it very quietly, not projecting her thought to him, but rather into the ether to see if he had any magic abilities or wasn't quite as human as he appeared. She didn't think she had an owner, at least not anymore, seeing as she hadn't been beaten in a few days.
