The young Hongshan, Saif'aldin, sat on the early morning sands - still cool from the night. Today he was supposed to have a little training, and he waited, perhaps a bit drowsy still. Mornings were never nice, and they were even worse when you hadn't slept well the night before.
Saif wasn't going to let that be an excuse though. A warrior needed to be able to fight no matter how tired they were!
Yeah right, who was he kidding? He couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag... That was why he was here for training. He was a cub when the Hongshan were made to flee. He hadn't exactly had time to get any real training. Now it was simply a 'better late than never' ordeal...

He had already been up for a few hours, as Yayuka had begun napping in the afternoons and staying up more during the night. So he didn't have the problem that he was drowsy when he arrived over for the little training match he'd be having this morning.
He felt relatively relaxed, though he figured that would end soon. "Good morning." He greeted the other lion easily, and rolled his shoulders once before standing before his opponent. "You can start." No need to dilly-dawdle around. Yayuka thought they'd best just get to it.

"Good morning, sir." One thing about Saif - he was polite to a fault, as if it had been beat in to him. It probably had. He was a quiet lad, always seemingly on the brooding side. And he didn't start fights. He finished them. That said, he wasn't....exactly sure how to begin. Did he just lunge for his opponent? No, no, that wouldn't do. Should he attempt circling him and hope he caught him off guard? No, that didn't sound right either... Saif was over-thinking things. The fire in his heart was more like the flickering candle that cast off a gentle light to guide, rather than a fierce wildfire that wrought destruction upon whatever got in its path...

It was nice to see a polite fellow around! Personally Yayuka didn't find firekin in general too bad, bu they could be a bit snippy. And he had just been called a sir, which just struck him as pleasant.
He tilted his head briefly as the other male took a while to answer. Them with a shrug, he figured he'd make things easier. Starting could be quite awkward. "Alright, I'll go." Yayuka also disliked starting, but he was alright with just making a short dash and attempting to whack at his opponent, just to get things going. He missed, but wasn't too surprised about it, and kept his eyes on the other male to avoid any incoming attacks.

Saif hadn't dealt much with the Firekin, preferring the company of his familiar Hongshan comrades. He knew the Firekin would look down on him; he wasn't much of a fighter. The way he tripped over his own two paws like some cub as he tried to avoid Yayuka's attack was evidence enough of that.
"Oumph!" Saif shook his head after receiving a mouthful of sand. "Sorry,.."
He paused a bit to get the sand out from his eyes - a near futile effort in this land.

Oh, he was a bit klutzy. Yayuka made a bit of a face, and shrugged awkwardly. "That's fine. Just keep going." The gray lion wasn't the best fighter ever himself, and as such he didn't expect anyone else to be.
But tripping around in the sand... that just would not do! "Here, I'll attack, and then you try and hit me." He offered, and shot a paw out to whack at the other male. This time he was sure he'd hit something, though Yayuka didn't hit hard.

(*glares at RNG* for the sake of training, I'ma have Saif make a move anyway, hurr...)
If Lions could blush, Saif probably was. Being on the run from the Nergui since he was little and not receiving any proper training until now really hadn't done him any good.
He stepped back from the swiping paw and brought up one of his own, a distraction, as he leaned back onto his hind legs and swiped at Yayuka, weakly, with his other paw. Poor boy didn't even have his claws extended.

Well... at least he had the right spirit. Sort of. "That's better! Yeah, just keep it up." Perhaps to give the other male a bit more confidence (he evidently needed it), Yayuka made a feeble attempt at dodging that was doomed to fail, and he let the paw hit his shoulder.
He wouldn't make thing too easy, however, and balanced on his hind paws then pushed himself forwards to shove at the other male, though still holding back as far as strength went.

When Yayuka came at him, Saif's first instinct was to get out of the way. however, balanced on his hind legs such as he was, twisting to turn and run only made him topple over again. He stayed like that, ears flattened.
"I'm a shame to the Hongshan. And I'm sure the Firekin won't see me any better..."
And here came the 'woe is me' that Saif was so good at. Flickering candle was perhaps a bit too good a comparison for him, in the end.

Unfortunately the gray male didn't expect his opponent to just fall over like that, and nearly landed on him. He managed to set his paw down on the sand instead, and sort of hop away before he awkwardly landed on the poor fellow.
He sort of agreed, but Yayuka wasn't mean like that. Neither could he lie. "Uhh... that was sort of terrible." He admitted. "But that sort of attitude won't help you either." He shrugged. "You just have to keep trying. I can practice with you more often."

"I want to be a better fighter," well, be able to really fight, period, "thank you for the offer. I'll be sure to call upon you again."
Saif finally picked himself up and shook the sand from his fur.
"And thank you again for the training today."
If you could call it that.

He nodded briefly and awkwardly. He wasn't used to dealing with this sort of lion, but still couldn't help and feel bad for the fellow. "No one is born knowing, you'll get there." Most people Yayuka had met had taken to fighting much more naturally, but...
Well, he was a bit of an optimist. Yayuka could hope this fellow would get there, and he was willing to help out. "Alright. No problem, any time. Yeah, I'll go find a bite to eat or something." He said, and admittedly it was a bit of an excuse to get out of there. "Bye!"
