 "So..." She stared at a bright dragonfly, her dull eyes wide with wonder at the fluttering wings, and the long body. "What were we supposed to do again?" Firefly Husk turned her head, looking to her sister as they moved through the swamp. They were looking for something.... what it was, Firefly had forgotten. It was a bit silly, but it happened. Her tail stayed up slightly, the female not feeling like getting it wet as she didn't at all like the feeling when it dried, so she was keeping safe with her movements. "Was it to get food? Or...uh..."charLOLLI sheen TAG BABBEH~ XD Just made up a quick little diddle.

 She'd lost interest in the dragonfly not mere moments ago, but already she was acting as though it was the most tedious thing. So when her sister asked her why the two of them were out she answered with a clucking of the tongue and a roll of the eyes.
"Yes, sister dearest," she answered. Smiling brightly and nudging Firefly along the shoulder she apologized in her own way for being so surly just then. "Father sent us out to collect food. He didn't really specify what he wanted us to bring home, but I think we should be looking for meat." She placed a special emphasis on 'I' and it came out as snooty as snooty could be. "Do you think foxbun first? Or owlcat?"
With a swish of her tail she moved away from the deeper parts of the mangroves, closer to where the foxbuns liked to hide, in answer. "Foxbun will be easier to catch."iHibari Kyoya Annnd Footsteps is a brat! Good to know. xD

She nodded, blinking slightly before looking around. "Ah... I could get the Owlcat if you want to get the Foxbun...." Oh, a giant moth! What pretty colors. Her ears twitched and she smiled. "What about....uhm... Crane? would that work too or..." She looked over her shoulder to realise she'd fallen behind, leaving her to scramble to catch up. "Sorry...there was a moth..."charLOLLI sheen Good to know! Poor Firefly XD And poor Footsteps too!

"... and then maybe a crane or two. I take back my idea on owlcats, they aren't worth the effort." She hadn't even noticed her sister wasn't there. Turning at the sound of fast approaching feet, she blinked in confusion before covering it up with a stern frown. "One day, sister, I am going to collect for you one of each insect. Then maybe they can do the hunting for you." Turning about the way she'd been heading she talked over her shoulder at Firefly. "As I was saying ... Cranes, yes. Owlcats are a bad idea." They were too tough and their beaks too pointy anyway.
"We should be looking for plants to eat along the way. You do that while I hunt."
She didn't mean to be so bossy, but their father had expectations and she was going to exceed them. She was going to do better than that- She was going to rock his request to the core so that when they got home he'd be so impressed he'd give all of the hunting responsibility to her and her alone.

"O-oh! I can do that." She smiled and nodded, turning her head to look at the foliage around, wiggling her rump a bit as she started to hum. "Oh! I've seen these before! sister, these are kind of sweet! There's so few here though..." It was a small bush growing at the root of a tree, a few berries seen ripened in the leaves. Firefly stepped over and pawed at it lightly with her hoof before wondering if she could get any berries without smashing them. Something for Footsteps to snack on was the idea she had, after all she was going to do the big hunting.

Footsteps stopped, turned, and watched as her sister pointed out the berries. Taking the few steps backwards to reach the bush, she leaned down with her head and used the tip of her horn to knock a berry off, as a test. "Quick, sister. Get a leaf and be ready to collect what I push off." She had to give Firefly credit where it was due, this was a really good idea and the berries that were ripe smelled very sweet. She showed her appreciation by looking up at the bright face next to hers and nodding with a smile.
Maybe there was something to her sister's erratic wanderings after all.

"Alright!" She moved and looked for a good leaf, finding one a little ways away, growing in a sort of curled fashion, perfect for holding something. She carefully plucked said leaf and went back, holding it in preparation to catch falling berries. "Otay!" She seemed proud of what she'd done. Carefully knocking each ripe berry off into the leaf until all that remained were the ones that couldn't yet be eaten, she looked to her sister and then stepped away from the bush. "There aren't very many..." she clacked her tongue against her teeth as she thought. "If we could find more we could bring some home. They'd taste very nice with crane."
She craned her neck this way and that, looking for any sign of more bushes growing nearby. Alas, she was forced to admit to herself that she didn't know flora as well as she knew how to catch fauna. "What are your thoughts, Firefly?"iHibari Kyoya Yes. Devour all the text. Mmmm.

"I could find more if you want to hunt." She blinked at her sister, careful with the leaf full of berries. "If you want me to that ish." Bleh, the leaf was icky tasting.

On the one hoof she felt very strongly that it was high time Firefly learn how to hunt. On the other ... She was supposed to be gathering food for the family, and it was a well known fact she could catch more prey on her own than with help. Pursing her lips in thought and tapping at the ground she finally shook her head. "No, we'll get more berries and more crane if we do both together. You need to learn to hunt properly anyhow." Oh, but she hoped this would work the way she wanted it to. "It will take longer but the rewards will be worth it."
Basically ignoring that the leaf was obviously gross tasting, she moved to Firefly's side and nodded at her. "Where did you find that leaf?" She needed one too if they were both going to be gathering berries.

"Behind dat bush near the mushroom shtump." She sat down to try and get a better grip on what she had, using her hooves to hold it carefully as she though of a better way to carry it. After all, it was tempting to just bite down and eat the whole thing. After situating it safely with another leaf as a sort of carrier, she felt prepared.

She walked over to where she was pointed and chose the largest leaf she could find. It was also curling slightly and she smiled around it in approval. "Letsh go then," she said curtly. She already hated the way holding the leaf made her sound. "Daylight is fading."
With that she started moving in the direction of what she thought looked like another berry bush.iHibari Kyoya Feel free to let Firefly put her in her place and show that she knows more about plants and how to find these things than Footsteps does. xD

As she looked to her sister, she noticed the bush. It wasn't what she'd been searching for, really wasn't. With a near trip in her step, she moved over and nosed the female away from the target, pressing against her side. "The leaves are too big for berries on that one... it's just a thorn plant." She fixed her carry of berries before she moved along, looking about. "There." she nodded toward another little plant. "That's one."

Footsteps bristled when her sister corrected her. It looked like it would have the correct berries. They all looked the same to her anyway. As Firefly nudged her in the right direction she pursed her lips and rolled her eyes. "This is stupid." It wasn't, but she was already bored with not being the best at berry gathering. Surely there were other ways to gather berries ... Like, well; she couldn't think of anything.
Stamping her hoof, she followed her sister with a sour look on her face and continued to knock more berries into her leaf.
"When did you get so good at berry finding anyway?"

"Oh... ah... I saw a little foal eat some berries that looked really good...but it was a bad idea...he died not too long after." She frowned slightly. "I didn't know that it could be dangerous...so... I tried learning all I could so that it wouldn't happen to my family." Firefly smiled a bit. "It took forever. I bet you'd get it way faster!"
