It wasn't her smartest idea ever.
When Eanah didn't have a class scheduled, she usually used that time to explore. She'd been to the edge of Soudul and back multiple times, but as each day dawned, the girl found there was less and less of the island she hadn't seen. She wasn't... bored, not really, it was just sometimes things around school got a little repetitive. There were only so many times you could watch the sun set over the Oblivion Sanctuary or feed some old hag's farm animals before you yearned for something more. Something dangerous. Something like hunting another dragon.
She set out early on her day off, staff in hand, and begged a ride off of an older student who was heading back home for a break. The barbarian lad was cheerful because, let's face it, a sense of humor is all a barbarian really has going for him, and he didn't even seem to mind that she barely spoke or had nothing to pay him with.
The sun was high in the sky when she finally set foot in the field. It was empty, but that was no different than she remembered. Her dragon had been in the trees not out here in the middle of nowhere. Eanah crouched slightly, her split skirt spreading as she crept into the forest. She had opted for a slightly more rugged outfit today, and in spite of the fact that leather leggings felt strange against her skin, she was glad for them.
She was just about to straighten up and make her way back to her rock when she heard a rustling off to her left. Well, it had been to her left. Now it was coming up behind her and... oh crap. There was no tree to save her this time, nor any kindly dragon hunter to kill the beast for her. She only had her legs and the thin shriek that screeched out of her as she ran back toward the road, hoping that the Ysali lost interest.
