Jayden: *Looks over at the mare who he had kept captive since they made the 'agreement', he disliked caring for another, hated it beyond imagination in fact... it was only for the potential that she had that he put up with it. Soon though he would get rid of her, take the foals and be done with her. Yes, he licked his lips, that was what kept him going.* Have you ate? We need to leave again. *He would waste no time for her, while he might be considered almost 'affectionate' at times it was simply a ruse, he needed her until he was done with her then he could be as ruthless as his kind were known to be.* Hurry. *He scented the air* Before it rains.

Tsunami: She snorted into the small circle of grass shoots at her feet. She hadn't expected to move on quite just yet. She barely raised her head to settle her gaze onto Jayden's form. She gave a barely audible sigh. Tedium had long since taken a firm grip on her actions and she nosed the tender shoots of grass before raising her head to stare at the batwalker full on. The clouds did indeed look like they were heavy with rain. "What's the rush Jayden? The rain would do us some good."

Tsunami dipped her head to rip a mouthful of grass from the ground and chewed with deliberate slowness. Her companion circled around her form. Tsunami watched the creature as it made a final circuit and landed on her back.

Jayden: *He watched her, she was being deliberatly slow and it rattled him the wrong way. He wanted to bark and snap at her, maybe even take a chunk out of her hide in warning, but refused to... not yet at least, he needed her agreement, at least until she was heavy with foals, then it would be too later.* You know I hate the rain, *He settled for, turning his back on her in fear he might change his mind and just strike at her because he could. The fickle nature of his kind.* ...so move it, before I make us walk all night just to spite you. *he sighed, flexing his bat wings, being still for too long made him itchy, and part of him really wanted to move now. In an effort to sooth over the situation he said, although a little reluctantly.* I will let you rest longer next time... will find you something nicer to eat too. *It was hard finding her things not of blood and flesh to eat, even before his skinwalker blessing he had been a meat eater. It was all he knew.*

Tsunami: It was true; she had noticed that Jayden was grumpier when inclement weather sprung up on them. It always seemed to make him surlier. She had no idea what was going through the stallion's mind at the moment and settled for grasping one more mouthful of grass. If she had any inkling of his thoughts she probably would have exited out of her agreement long before now. She would take the "olive branch" that he extended though with the idea of resting longer during their next stop. The idea of better food appealed to her as well. The mare gave a long look to the general direction that she believed her home lie in before falling into step behind Jayden. "All right, I guess I am ready to go now. Where are we heading to next?"
PostPosted: Tue Aug 28, 2012 8:25 am

Jayden: *He nodded as she fell into line, at least she still knew her place. He was above her in status and the food chain, at least in his mind. With a huff he let out some of his anger, he pitied the first creature he found today, small or large he was going to rip out their throat just because he could and was in no mood to play games.* This way. *Was all he said, he never told her were they were going, simply as he feared she would create a map in her mind and wander back home. In many ways it was part of the reason they travelled so often, keep her confused and too tired to fight back too much. She couldn't go home until he said she could. Soon he hoped, soon. Too many more Moons of this and he might just go insane. Setting off he expected her to follow, his spade tail swaying from side to side even as he refused to let it slide on the floor and leave a path, even if it was his sister Vanity that found them... no, he trusted no one in this.*

Tsunami: The mare shook her head. Once again he refused to give her a direction. Merely it was a mere "follow me" and she wasn't one to question him about it. She did however wish that she could stop walking and fly for a little bit. Perhaps if she asked politely enough maybe he'd allow her a brief flight. She had yet to see the stallion fly during a storm but she'd grown up swooping here and there amongst the herd that she had been raised in. She missed flying and feared that she'd forget how to eventually. It was a silly notion, really, but it was what she thought. Her voice was quiet as she broke the silence around them.

"Jayden, I don't suppose I'd be able to fly for a bit?"

Tsunami didn't know how he'd react to her question. She steeled herself for any possible reaction before repeating her query once more in case he hadn't heard him.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 28, 2012 8:48 am

Jayden: *He turned to look at her with her question. Fly. Anger flashed across his face for a moment but then it relaxed as he thought about the question, actually thought about it rather than simply pretending to. If they flew too high she would figure out their location or maybe worst try and escape him... not that she would get much chance to, he was faster and could switch to a bat in order to chase her faster if needs be. Still, he needed her fit, having heard that a sickly mother lead to sickly foals, and that would just put all his effort to dust.... would flying help keep her healthy? He knew muscles could get damaged if you didn't use them. For that, and only that he considered it. A feral growl escaped him and he slammed a hoof to the ground, he better not regret this!* Fine. *He turned his trained glowing eyes upon her* But you will do as I say, when I say it. We will not fly high, only above the tree line. You will not stray from my side at any point unless I specificially order you to! *He let her feel the waves of his seriouness for a moment before barking a* We clear?

Tsunami: The mare stood still as Jayden debated her request. The angry expression that she had witnessed at first slowly melted away. Her hopeful gaze focused on the horizon beyond as she gave her wings a quick shuffle. A bit of loose dander fell to the ground before she realized that Jayden was speaking. It took a few seconds for her to realize that he was allowing her request. It came with a lot of restrictions but Tsunami would abide by them if it came to flying for a while.

It was at times like this, getting a small reward, that might have kept Tsunami happy enough to stay at Jayden's side. The thought of children also kept her close. When they had met he'd promised her children and that lure of being a mother had overwhelmed her rational sense. Back to the present Tsunami gave a quiet sigh as Jayden asked if she understood his demands.

"We are clear. Thank you Jayden."

With those words Tsunami gave her wings another ruffling. She had not felt the air under her wings for what seemed like forever.

Jayden: Stretching his own wings out he watched as she prepared herself for flight. Through different eyes he might have seen her as beautiful and not just interesting, she had all the makings of a true beauty. Good bone structure, delicate wings and features.... but what he cared for was her magical fade, the things that made her unique that he wanted to pass on to his own children. He would keep this farce going until he achieved that.

With a slight huff he took to the sky, his piercing eyes watching her carefully, he wasn't prepared to take his eyes off her for a moment "Come. We have a while to go...."

Tsunami: The mare eyed Jayden warily before rustling her wings once more. There was an air of nervousness that caused her to feel almost reluctant about her idea now. Shaking off the feeling that something would go wrong Tsunami remembered her proud heritage. Her wings opened to their full span before she gave a joyous cry and leaped into the air. She was airborne.

Tsunami fell into place at Jayden's side as he'd ruled that she needed to be. The sensation of air passing under her wings was soothing and she gave a content sigh before peering sidelong at Jayden. She'd only really seen him fly once and that was when they had first met. He'd given a fine aerial display during his transformation. The leather wings that resided under his pelt beat the air with measured strokes. Her own wings soon matched the tempo as she grinned. She may not be of Kalona stature but her own wings were just as good it seemed. Her tuft at the end of her leonine tail caught the wind and streamed out behind her. Tsunami came to a brief realization ... she belonged in the air. Once her deal with Jayden was complete she knew that she needed to return home.

Jayden: Jadyen watched her with an almost detached fascination as Tsunami took to the skies and joined him. He kept the pace low and shallow, his bat wings easily capturing the wind and allowing him to glide upon the currents. The wind made flying easy work, not much need to put in additional work... but that also boded ill... a storm was likely coming, and Jayden wanted to be inside before that happened! His eyes darted to the sky for a brief moment, the sky looked angry, and had he still been a kalona he may very well say that it was Kalona about to dish out punishment or reward upon someone. After all, the cackle of lightning and the roar of thunder were not always something to be seen as a negative. Perspective. It was all about perspective.

Not that it mattered to Jayden, he hated storms. Hated being out in them. Just hated them. "Pick up the pace." He ordered of her before doing just that and turning slightly to correct their course. He knew exactly where he was heading, a little cave closer to the base of the mountain, surrounded by trees but with a water source close by, they could stay there for a few days in relative solitude. At least he would be able to hold up to his side of the bargain... at least until it no longer suited him. "Hurry up." He barked, his stomach already growing from his need to hunt.

Tsunami: Tsunami had been busy making a mental map of the terrain that she flew over. It wouldn't help her in the least to become disoriented later on. The gusts of wind that blew around her drew her out of her state of concentration. She could sense that the conditions around her and Jayden had worsened as they flew. There was a sudden flash of lightning that startled a noise of surprise from her. The resulting crash of thunder probably drowned it out from reaching Jayden but his words came across her own reach of hearing and she did as he commanded.

It would be too dangerous to continue flying in this weather. At least she had managed to get a little exercise out of the flight and her wings seemed to still be strong after all the time they had spent walking. Tsunami banked her flight to follow Jayden's path and as another flash of lightning lit the sky she thought she spied what he was aiming for. Still, she remembered his instructions of staying at his side. She'd not speed away for the safety that the cave promised. Soon enough she'd be able to dry off. "I'm going as fast as I can Jayden. Unless your rules from before don't apply now." It was risky back-talking to the stallion but Tsunami's words were truth. She could only fly as fast as he dictated and not any faster lest he get angry that she'd left him behind.

Jayden: Jayden nearly visibly cringed at the lightning! Curses! He hated this. Why wasn't this mare moving any faster! Even as he picked up his own pace and she kept up he still wondered this. More lightning, more internal cringing. Memories flooded him but he refused to break down and fall into them, he was stronger than that... no longer a pathetic Kalona he had become so much more when he was cursed, accepted so much more. And with that frame of mind he snapped his sharp teeth at Tsunami as she dared question his rules. "I am the master here... you will do well to remember you are in one piece because of my generosity.... do not forget that little mare." He knew she was right, had already started his descent with the plan to run the rest of the way. Stormy weather was far from his preferred to fly in.

With his spade tail he spanked her rear, a warning against questioning him again, even as he indicated to the ground. "Now move. Land and run to the cave before I snap." A snap that was far more likely to happen with this storm about to rage all around them.

Tsunami: The mare was almost believed that she got away with her comments until she saw Jayden's temper flare. His teeth snapping was merely a distraction it seemed. So distracted was she by that gesture and his harsh words that she completely missed his winding tail heading in her direction. The impact that followed wasn't entirely painful but neither was it a pleasant sensation. Tsunami merely pumped her wings harder in an effort to combat the elements building around them.

With a loud groan she touched down onto the firm earth and did as Jayden bid her to do. She ducked her head against the wind and the rain that was beginning to lash the earth and bolted towards the shelter of the cave. She hadn't even said anything else to the stallion and probably wouldn't end up saying anything. Her whole body shook with the effort of catching her breath after the brief flight and then full out run towards the cave. The spot on her rump smarted a little and she turned her gaze to inspect the area. A slight reddish mark was the only visible cue that something had struck her. Her eyes narrowed briefly in a small show of anger before she took a deep breath. Getting mad now wouldn't solve anything. She was still bound by her word to stick to Jayden's side. As the 'walker entered she sighed. There was no malice or anger in her voice as she spoke up, "so we are just going to wait out the storm then?"
