Hekate had never been exactly one to show open fondness for the Weyr. If anything the girl had a bad habit of calling into question age old traditions and rules almost on a daily basis, her mere presence making some of the more hidebound riders a touch less welcoming of the drudge turned silver rider. There was However one thing Hekate could solemnly get behind and agree with all riders on and that was that thread needed to BURN.

Sadly Devith was still a touch too small to give their age old enemy a taste of his own fire leaving the pair to find. . .alternative means of exacting revenge. Mine! It comes~ The young silver rumbled his tone practically dripping with acid as he rose from sleep his muzzle twisting into a snarl. His eyes whirled a deep rich red of anger as he stalked outside Hekate having to work fast to throw on her boots to catch up reaching her dragon before he got much farther. Above them circled her fair of flits creeling out their own little battle cry at the silver's warning. It comes! It comes! They seemed to scream as weyrfolk and refugees alike dashed this way and that some off to do their duties while others milled around unsure and in a panic.

I want to fight! Devith hissed his tail thrashing and little claws digging into the ground tearing it in his grip with the force of his own frustration, but the Wings had already gone and he and his could not rise to go with them. Bugling out his anger the young silver reared one paw half raise to the sky to take off~

NO Came the solid rebuke from Hekate her grip tightening on her dragon's shoulders as she cast a baleful eye skyward and urged her own flits down. You all! Land! You're being a nuisance! She mentally hissed at her lot, her mind whirling with ideas. Reluctantly the flitters obeyed, the greens taking light on the roofs as Baron and Prince took up roost on her shoulder.

Beside her Devith rumbled and growled. You Dare! The silver snarled in his rider's face perplexed and betrayed by her sudden refusal.

There are other ways to fight! So cease your snarling! I have a plan! Hekate replied her tone sharp in her dragon's mind as the two wills clashed against one another for a moment. Slowly Devith eased his curiosity piqued.

Go on then. I am listening. The young silver growled though his tone was made deeper with pride. He did love it when she challenged him.

We're going to put together a little fighting wing of our own and stick with the Weyr's orders. Contact your siblings, tell any of them with strong riders to get to the firestone pile and start bagging for the older Weyrlings to lift. If their dragons want to help they can hold open the bags. Tell the smaller ones to get to the first-aid tables. . .better yet make sure Dizzian and Courath are at the first aid tables if you would be so kind. Dizzian has more training for this. Go get them and help them make it there and help them keep any incoming dragons that are injured calm. I'm going to go collect the candidates, if the Masters haven't already and send the smaller ones to help her or any with healer training. She can show them what needs to be done. I'll take the rest with me to pass of the firestone to the older Werylings. Hekate quickly explained Devith and her flits watching her with whirling eyes for a few moments before the silver nodded.

Well then? What are you waiting for Mine! Today we will give thread a fight it shall not forget! Devith roared rising on his hind legs this time to let loose a triumphant bugle.

"Heh understood!" Hekate chuckled giving her dragons one more loving pat before dashing for the candidate barracks as her dragon began his work.

SIBLINGS! HEAR ME! The silver roared wings half fanned giving those who scurried around him pause. Those who can aid with the firestone! The rest with me at the first-aid table! He yelled out though his voice softened as he sought out the mind of his favorite sibling.

Courath if you and yours would be so kind as to help man the first-aid tables if you feel you are able? I will be along to lend you my assistance shortly. Devith rumbled his voice always a touch gentler when it came to the injured green.

Mercy had thought - briefly - about attempting to join in the wings with their fight. This wasa new Weyr and no Weyrleader had yet banned her from fighting in the manner that Malvren's had..but Kleos was leading this charge and how would it look for her to show up and jump into the fray when everyone knew that she wasn't supposed to? Everyone from Malvren anyways - and the riders from the other Weyrs? Well they were likely to just think them a nuisance and considering the poor performance they had given in the Revolutionary fighting they might well be right.

'We would have been fine if it hadn't have been a silver who attacked me' Aerith stated firmly, huffing a bit at her riders thoughts. 'And we would be fine fighting thread...' The white added on with a hopeful edge to her tone.

'I know we would..but we don't want to make Kleos and Moriath look bad do we? You know they'd just order us back here...best we go and do what we always do during thread' Mercy reminded her dragon who grumbled a little bit but agreed in the end. It was always a bit of a mad rush at first..Mercy liked to check in on all the Weyrlings which generally meant flying back and forth between the first aid tables and the firestone pits to see where they were needed most.

'Lets check on the Weyrling's bagging firestone first - it's too early in the fall for the First aid tables to be overrun yet." Mercy told the white and agreeing with this judgement Aerith took off, landing alongside the firestone pits just as the Weyrlings all began to arrive. It would be good to see how well the Trine weyrlings were trained.

O'thor had actually arrived before Mercy. When the call went out that Thread was falling, the first thing he and almost-adult-sized Adamanth had done was go to the firestone pits they had scoped out previously. They knew their responsibilities, after all, and O'thor wasn't about to shirk his duties just because he didn't know where anything was.

Orlina would likely be with the Candidates now, waiting to help run supplies or staying indoors, out of the way. ... Probably running supplies, he had to admit to himself.

It is good to see you well, Aerith, Adamanth greeted as the White appeared, since it wasn't the first time he had run into the White since her arrival at Trine. Still, she had clearly recovered from her encounter with the foolish Silver at Malvren that Adamanth had come so close to beating. There had been more important matters at the time, however, such as O'thor finally awakening, and there were more important matters again now.

O'thor had already dug out a bag to fill under the Trine Weyrlingmaster's sharp eye and was headed for the pits. Until a wing needed refills of firestone, his hands were devoted to packing bags as surely as anyone else's.

Although the Candidatemaster was in the air with a wing, one of the older riders of Trine, his Blue too old now to fly to fight Thread, had come to take charge of the much-increased number of Candidates at Trine during the Fall. He introduced himself as N'tor of Blue Terath and said he was there to direct the Candidates to tasks during the Threadfall. Orlina, eager to help rather than sit around while her brother was out flying on Adamanth, pretty much pushed her way to the front of the line (as carefully and quietly as possible).

"Some of you will be sent to help run supplies from the infirmary to the healers as dragons begin to come in injured. Those of you with any healing experience should speak up; you'll be placed with the healers as assistants at the tables. There are plenty of Weyrlings to bag firestone, but we have more than four Wings now. Some of you may be asked to ferry Weyrling-filled firestone bags to waiting Weyrling dragons. Because we have so many weyrfolk now, none of you will have to help in the kitchens as you would have in times past, but rest assured that most of you will be put to good use in one way or another."

The sound of someone coming down the hall toward them drew both N'tor's attention and the attention of most of the Candidates.

Dizzian & Courath
Even though Thread was falling, Dizzian was ridiculously relieved to finally be released from bed rest. She couldn't do any heavy lifting herself, her ribs still too delicate to risk, but she would be allowed to help with the healers, applying bandages, numbweed and running supplies as needed. Even Courath was out of her bed, though unable to help in anyway. A harness had been constructed for her, to bind her wing tightly to her side but allow her to walk so long as she took it slowly and carefully. Both knew it was really to clear up beds for the inevitable injuries Thread brought but neither would complain.

Courath's eyes whirled red, though unlike her dear brother she was not screaming to get into the air. She knew that even if she were whole, she was not ready to fight and if she was patient, there would be decades ahead of her to fulfill her ancient duty. ~ Brother mine calm yourself. Believe me we will do Trine a greater service waiting now so we may fight later. Our day will come before we know it. ~ There was a gentle caress to her words. The silver had been a good companion to her and Hers and she knew her faith was well placed. She admired his strength of will but knew as much as he boasted of patience, he didn't often display it in the short term.

She sat off to the side, while she was free to walk and move, she was unable to help in anyway. The little green would have to pour herself into emotional support rather than physical. Which was ok with her. ~ Mine is already helping the Healers, she will welcome your presence. ~

Ailin

Ailin stood still and quiet under N'tor's eye. He'd not been dealing well with the intense emotions and abundance of people who'd invaded Trine. While he'd never sided with the wher handlers, the fact that he didn't oppose them either had been seen by some as a betrayal. Ailin wasn't about to change their minds. He still felt himself as an outsider to weyr life, a visitor while his discharged his new duty of standing at clutches until he would be allowed to return home.

He hadn't broached the subject himself, not knowing of who to go to about ending his candidacy and instead waiting for someone to remember the quiet harper lad who'd been reluctant to come in the first place. Now though he doubted anyone would recall or even be able to return him to the Harper hall. The riders and weyrfolk had nothing on their minds but their own political drama and the existence of one uncomfortable harper lad weighed little on anyone's mind.

He did have one new comfort in his life, outside of the weyr harpers who continued his lessons and his prized flute (which he had protected better than his own life). A little pale blue firelizard lay sprawled across his shoulders, fore claws folded elegantly and held held nuzzled under Ailin's ear. Jerint thrummed and churred reassuring loving thoughts into his's mind. Lightening the tall lad's uneasy mind.

(Editted)
It was a tall richly tanned woman with shoulder length fiery red hair that stepped into the doorway blinking a pair of somewhat surprised amber gold eyes to see another rider there. Oh well good for him then meant less trouble for her. Letting out a cough she gave the older man a nod. "I'm Hekate of Silver Devith, one of the Weyrlings. I came to request that anyone strong enough to lug firestone follow me to the pits. Anyone else who wants to lend a hand with the first aid tables should probably make there way there." She replied keeping her back straight and chin up letting her gaze fall over the group of candidates. There certainly were a lot of them. . .good meant more help for the dragons in the air.

Devith after sending out his call had begun to wind his way through the hall headed for the healers table looking for the familiar sight of Dizzian. Why must you and Mine always make so much sense? Very well Sister dearest I will be aiding yours. Do not worry no harm shall come to her under my watch. Devith assured his sibling with a low mental croon as he stepped up beside the first aid table to gently rumble at Dizzian.

Mine has gone to fetch the candidates and aid with the firestone. I will help you here in place of my sister so no harm can come to you. Devith confidently informed Dizzian taking a seat beside the young woman. Hopefully for once the color of his hide would come in handy for keeping any panicked dragons from lashing out as his rider's dear friend.

N'tor blinked, then smiled slowly at her, giving the impression of an amused old grandfather. That's right. The new Silver girl.

"Then it's good you've come. I'm N'tor of Blue Terath. I was going to have to parcel all of these lovely morcels out myself, but with extra hands to help that will make things much easier. Thank you, Weyrling Hekate. All right. Those with strong backs and arms for pulling laden bags line up off to the side, here." He made shooing motions with his hands, parting the Candidates to the right and leaving space to the left. "Don't be shy now. You won't be filling the bags, so you can't do it incorrectly. Just carrying. You there, lad with the broad shoulders, that's your post. You, and you, and you as well."

With the first selections made, several more hesitantly or confidently moved over to the side, including one very dark-skinned young lady. N'tor smiled at her as he had at Hekate.

"You, miss, look as if you have a fast pair of feet. I think you would be best running supplies for the healers."

"I can lift, too. I'm strong enough," the dark girl, Orlina, protested.

"Yes, but it seems we'll have ample hands for that, especially since the Weyrlings will be aiding at the firepits. You'll come to the healers with me. Who else?" he looked out at the assembled, his face falling into serious contemplation. "You and you." He pointed out the two Candidates he wanted. "With Weyrling Silverrider Hekate. The rest of you I will divide up once our firepit volunteers have gone and I will take the healer assistants to the infirmary and the first aid tables."

N'tor turned his head and smiled amiably at Hekate again. "Can't let the Candidates go wandering off on their own in the muddle that's going to come through soon. Since we have two Weyrs' worth of Weyrlings on top of this, I don't think you'll be short of hands now, and no one should get... too tired. Go now, before the Weyrlingmaster begins to wonder where you are. If he asks, you may give him my name."

Orlina didn't know this girl-- one of the Trine Weyrlings, it seemed, since she knew both Silvers from her brother's Clutch and neither were Devith of Hekate-- but she stood with all the haughtiness of a full rider. Orlina wondered where she got that attitude from and shifted slightly. This Hekate didn't look like she'd like to be friends at all.

She occupied only a moment's though, however, as Orlina turned her attention back to N'tor, the senior rider in the room. He began dividing them up, first with those going to the firepits. Orlina watched him choose several Candidates before she voluntarily stepped over to that group, only to have him smile at her. His compliment on her speed sounded to her like an attempt to not hurt her feelings. Orlina knew she was small, and felt as if she always would be, but her scuffles at Malvren and her tendency to explore had given her strong muscles and she protested the attempt to deter her.

"I can lift, too. I'm strong enough."

N'tor's smile didn't fade, but he did continue to insist-- with good points, logical ones, backing his words-- that she work with the healers instead. Orlina, already feeling awkward speaking out in front of so many other people, fell silent and simply stepped back. It wasn't embarrassment, she simply... wasn't a loud girl unless you got to know her. She also would never think to contradict an elder, especially an elder rider during Threadfall.

So, instead of going to help her brother at the firepits, Orlina was shuffled into the group destined to help the healers. Orlina wasn't down for long however (she rarely was). The healers would need a great deal of help if this was a long Fall or the Wings couldn't find a way to work together and ended up causing more injuries than there should be. And maybe she would see Mercy there. Mercy knew first aid, so she'd likely be around the healers, lending a hand.

Hekate was genuinely taken aback by the man's reaction. Typically those who knew of her rarely greeted her well. . .kindly or at least with little more then the barest level of politeness they could manage. In fact some of the newer riders seemed to expect her to be ashamed. Hekate had always met controversy and insult with confidence though. Never give them the slightest sign of weakness to use against you had been one of her moto's throughout life. So the old bluerider's reaction had the girl startled and she blinked at him for a seconds before returning his smile somewhat hesitantly. "You're Welcome Bluerider N'tor. Thank you, I wasn't sure anyone had made it over here to sort them yet." Hekate admitted falling silent as she watched him place the boys and girls into groups. Relaxing somewhat her stance was a little less. . .combative then it had been before, but she still held herself with confidence. After all she was expected to make sure those sorted candidates made it safely to the firestone pit.

She was surprise however when the man sent a dark skinned girl from the firestone group. More surprised when she spoke up about it. While what N'tor said made sense Hekate couldn't help, but feel a bit sorry for the girl. She did after all look like she was a bit stronger then one might think. In fact Hekate herself tended to be thin and catlike with a dancers build that hardly seemed fit for such hard medial labor. At least that's what E'lov had thought. . .she'd proved well and good enough that she was all wirey muscle and not new to hard work. Still. . .maybe there was a little something the girl could do. Hekate knew the idea of being left out of the fray frankly would have driven her up a wall and she could respect someone who wanted to find their own way to fight.

At N'tor's words Hekate nodded giving the old rider another small smile. "Don't worry sir I'll see them safely to the pit." Hekate replied and was tempted to mention that the officials seemed worried that this might be a long fall, but it wouldn't due to go worrying the candidates. So instead she settled for turning to face her group.

"Right. Follow me then. We've got some thread to help see burned." She called to her group her tone cheerful at the prospect and at the mention of helping burn thread she gave a grin that was positively bloodthirsty. Before she turned to head out the door though she paused tapping Orlina gently on the shoulder.

"If you go to the healers table would you mind letting Weyrling Dizzian of Green Courath know that I'm on my way to the Pit. She shouldn't be too hard to find. My silver Devith will be with her. Just look for a very dark colored silver with bone like markings. He shouldn't be too hard to spot." Hekate asked the girl with a small smile before collecting her group and heading out.

Dizzian and Courath

Courath looked on with fondness. She stood off to the side of the crowd around the healer's tent. She's step back in once preparations were complete and she could find a spot to stay out of the way but for now she took pleasure in having space to stretch and move stiff limbs.

Dizzian still felt strange when Devith spoke to her. She knew he was a vocal dragon but it wasn't easy to hear a voice other than Courath's in her mind. His was so much sharper even when he was being gentle. She reached up and gave his eye ridge a scratch, planting a quick little kiss on his chin. "You're too sweet Devith." She giggled. Currently she was cracking seals on numbweed jars, smelling the contents and testing their freshness. It reminded her of the first time she'd met Hekate and Devith, when somehow a bad jug of oil had found itself in her quarters. Doubtful Devith would remember so far back but it brought a smile to her face. She was happy the woman had turned to her in her hour of need. It made Dizzian feel like she'd done something good.

~ You could never do bad mine. ~ Came a gentle thought a wave of warm love from her green out of sight.

Ailin

He was a little shocked to be singled out for firestone duty. Sure he was tall but he didn't exactly look strong. Hauling bags wouldn't be as bad as filling them. He could only imagine what the rough stone would do to his delicate musician's hands. Obedient to commands though he lined up with the rest of the older boys, turning his attention to the red haired weyrling he was supposed to follow. She...looked scary. Her predatory grin made Ailin look down at his toes. He made a mental note to just stay out of her way as much as he could.

Zarike
The young lad was nearly buzzing with excitement. He'd hung around the back of the candidates group, not hiding but barely visible among the older kids. As N'tor began sorting out the strong lads to carry stone he quickly darted over and stood in their line, puffing his chest out and standing as tall as he could. Hopefully the old rider wouldn't notice an extra addition to the candidates with all the new faces already and he'd be allowed to help with something important! The weyrbrat didn't want to be shuffled back to the creche this time. He was 11 turns now! There were candidates just a turn older than him and he was sure he was stronger than some of them!

'And you as well Adamanth' Aerith told the silver who had long since grown to tower over her. 'You and yours will be flying thread next time I think' She remarked as she looked at him. Yes he was nearly grown..soon they would be put into a wing and allowed to do what dragons were supposed to do.

Dismounting, Mercy patted Aerith soothingly on the side knowing that it sometimes still rankled the white to see younger dragons go off to do what she was not allowed to. They helped in their own way..sure sometimes she chaffed against the constraints herself but she wasn't going to let it show. She was glad to see that Othor was here - thankful for a familiar face and she gave him a wave. "Should be more coming I expect..this can't be all the candidates and Weyrlings around here.."

Roscoe had reported along with the rest of the candidates, thankfully he had managed to recover from most of his wounds...but even he knew better then to try and haul firestone around at the moment, although tat was his typical chore. Seemed like today he'd be working first aid instead. Well...as long as he was helping then he was happy.

And on the plus side he'd be able to keep an eye out for Benden riders in the wounded. He hoped there wouldn't be many, and he really hoped not to see a particular striped bronze come in wounded..but at least he wouldn't be fretting and not knowing in the pits like he normally was. After the sorting he filed of with those headed towards the first aid tables.

Orlina saw the small boy dart over to the firestone line while N'tor was focused on Hekate and she was pretty sure he had to have noticed too. Or maybe not. Well, if he hadn't she wasn't going to call the Candidate out on it. Orlina wasn't the type to tattle on someone, and she herself had just been taken away from doing the same thing. She wouldn't spoil it for the boy so obviously trying to blend in, despite looking very silly while doing it. Maybe she'd talk to him about that if she saw him in the Barracks later.

Although... she didn't remember seeing him around the Barracks before. And he looked like he was her age or younger, too.

She was distracted from her observation by the Silver Weyrling addressing her group of Candidates and quickly looked back to N'tor, hoping he hadn't noticed her staring. She wouldn't want to ruin the boy's attempt at subterfuge. They could all help and he didn't want to be left behind, obviously, whether or not he was a Candidate-- or strong enough to haul the bags. A tap on her shoulder drew her back in that direction, however, and her hazel eyes as she looked up at the red haired girl were startled. Orlina blinked at Hekate's request, not having expected such a softened tone from the girl after such a startlingly vicious grin. Maybe... not so haughty after all? Orlina smiled and nodded.

"All right," she agreed quietly.

Her attention was drawn back to N'tor as he began addressing his group and the other one filed out. She glanced sidelong at the line as the too-young-to-be-a-Candidate Candidate passed by.

"The rest of you who are healthy and strong enough to work will come with me and we'll see how many ready hands the healers need."

They had to wait for the firepit group to clear the room, but then they followed N'tor to their new stations in a line that ranged from single file to two and three across.

"You have my thanks then." Hekate replied with a smile before collected her group and heading out. Keeping a fast pace Hekate lead her group along glancing over her shoulder as they made their way quickly towards the firestone pit to check and make sure they were all still there. Spying a younger lad among their ranks however she frowned. It seemed N'tor had missed a tagalong. Then again if the boy wanted to prove his worth Hekate certainly wasn't opposed to letting him.

Heading into the yard she paused blinking in surprise to see a white dragon and rider by the pit. A WHITE dragon, I mean she'd heard rumors that Malvren had one, but she'd never seen the dragon. The silver as well caught her attention and she arched a brow. Oh dear, she wasn't sure how Devith was gonna react to that, but that was a problem to deal with at a later time. Trotting up to the pair she gave them both a respectful nod. "Weryling Hekate of Silver Devith reporting in Ma'am. I've brought those candidates who want to lend a hand with the stone with me." Hekate replied stepping up to the two and motioning to the group she'd brought with her. "I figured~" She added with a bright toothy grin her tone chipper at the prospect of what destruction their work would help the dragon's reap. "You might need some reinforcements."

And even as she asked the question here came a herd of them now, lead by a red haired young women that Mercy had never seen before. She had to be from either Benden or Trine then and she was going to assume Trine since she seemed to know her way around well enough to lead the others. Giving her a bright and friendly smile Mercy inclined her head in response to the womens introduction. "We certainly could!" Mercy replied, pausing briefly as Aerith spoke to her.

'The wings are requesting firestone.' The white stated, eyeing the approaching weyrlings with a curious look. 'So many, are we going to teach them as well?'

'Not today..but yes, eventually' Mercy replied before turning her attention to the humans 'I'm Mercy of White Aerith, The wings have just requested Firestone, we need people to help load the Sr. Weyrlings." She motioned to the waiting young dragons.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sent back to rest and receive medical attention Eliza and Velath burst out of between and circled down to land near the first aid tables. Eliza quickly undid her straps and dropped off the green, motioning those manning the tables over "Hurry! She's got scores on her wingtip and chest..we've only got a little bit of time before we will be called back to the fall"
