TAB TABA p p e a r a n c e
TAB the face in the mirror

A lovely young woman with porcelain skin and waist-length inky black hair. Senju Harusame inherited the characteristic dark hair of the Senju clan, but not their golden eyes. Her eyes are instead a deep, clear blue which is highly reminiscent of their Uchiha cousins however the ferocity of her eyes in battle, as well as her arrogant pride, are clearly that of a Senju. Her imposing aura seems to accentuate her already fair height and even if they are taller than her, the other end will feel as if she is not only looking down but also talking down on them.

Her figure is slim but well-muscled. Her long black hair usually is tied back in a low, loose flowing ponytail. Even though it is covered most of the time, she has a stylized black tattoo of Konoha's insignia on the back of her neck, visible only when she ties her hair up into a high ponytail.

TAB the worse for wear

She despises the village's standard uniform, claiming it lacks style, and refuses to wear it. Harusame is rather fond of the Hyuuga's style of clothing, and has rendered for herself a similar uniform of her own fashion. In formal events, she wears the clan's traditional hanfu.

Her Konoha hitai-ate is somewhere back home. Nobody has seen it for years.

TAB all the different faces
    Egotistical
She LOVES hearing herself talk. She can go on and on about a topic. She will ramble in unceasing monologues. Of course, those younger than her better know to pay her the proper respects or there might be...consequences.

    Energetic
Always full of boundless energy, hardly anything could keep Harusame down for long. She uses this ability to her fullest advantage to also pull others back from depression, especially when her clan and colleagues were deeply saddened by the gravity of the incident that had befallen upon the former Senju Hokage.

She is also very passionate about training and work, having performed ridiculous feats such as living in the Forest of Death for a whole month as a Genin in preparation for her Chuunin Exams. Harusame is also fiercely proud of her village and for the sake of the village, she is always pushing to better herself. She had done only one low-ranked mission in her life. The ferocity and spirit of her request to the Juusandaime allowed Hyuuga Rasen-dono to let her and her teammates take C-ranked missions early after she contested the mundanity of menial labor.

Since she is very dedicated, it was only natural for her to choose to specialize in a single field rather than to follow the footsteps of her clan in their ever-expanding goal to learn as many different shinobi fields as possible.

    Volatile
She has a quick, dangerous temper that makes Harusame work best with a squad that possess complentary talents to back her up. Her volatile temperament also leads to a fair measure of unpredictability, because when her mood swings happen, they are wild and destructive even if she does so with a smile on her face. The easiest way to anger her -- her "rage buttons" so to speak -- is to either bring up the fact that she lacks feminine grace or is past the prime marriageable age.

    Childish
A lot to do with her volatile personality, but she is quick to shift blame onto others, even if she recognizes perfectly well it cannot possibly be their fault.

    "Slightly" Sadistic
She loves bullying people. Not to cause them irreparable harm, of course, but all for good sport. The goal is very simple: to toughen them up. Her methods are varied, ranging from physical to mental harassment.

One of her favorite targets was (and still is) Uchiha Akeru, whom was said to have the misfortune to catch her eye by being personally promoted to Chuunin rank at the age of 12 by the Juugodaime Senju Zephyr. It was said that her bullying forced the young Chuunin to take numerous missions outside the village to avoid her at any costs.

This factor carried on to their relationship when he later entered the Esei field. She would purposefully admit herself to the hospital claiming she had hurt herself from rough training and demand Akeru as her doctor. The Eseinin at the hospital refuses to elaborate on the specific mode of bullying but it has been rumored they do what they can to help their besieged young chief flee. (On a trivia note, it was rumored that Uchiha Akeru always took his sick leave whenever she is admitted to the hospital...)

    Slavedriver
She is a woman with impossibly high standards (even worse when she is given students) hence the rumors that this is why she remains fianceless and studentless to this very day.

Though regarded as a tall-tale, it has been said that the Juusandaime was very horrified upon hearing that she had planned a difficult survival experience for her future Genin squad's "ceremonial exam". It was little wonder he made sure that future didn't come to pass, a will that was carried on by succeeding Hokages, including Juusandaime's student, Juugodaime Senju Zephyr.

TAB TABb a c k g r o u n d
TAB the secrets you don't need to know
Forward

She was born into a world that welcomed her with adoring arms and grew up as fitting a princess of an imperial family, lacking nothing. There was no question about her destiny as a child with the blood of Senju: those around her have decided before she was old enough to even walk and talk that she would one day become a shinobi and honor the family name as generations whom came and gone before her had.

(They do not ask her what is it that she desires and perhaps it is then, even while so young, that the seeds of rebellion were planted deep inside her soul.)

When she was taught that she was superior, in comparison to those other children, she asks those annoying geezers then this fair question. But they couldn't come up with the reason of why that was so, why they made the claim they had.

(Even though she was taught otherwise, a part deep inside her doubted their family's superiority, because at the least those "normal, lesser" children did not have their lives scripted out before them.)

Isolation

She first tastes isolation, when the results of the chakra paper came. Hers had split into two and though wind affinity occurs sparingly among their clan, this answer was troublesome for it meant two things. She will never be accepted among the top brass of the family: lacking the Mokouton that the clan prized most.

(Unlike her numerous cousins, she watches her family's prowess with disinterested eyes. Better, she swore to herself. She would not walk their path, but she will still become better than them all.)

When she graduates the Academy, at the top of her class, no praises come her way because to the family that was the least she could do.

Question

Though at that time she did not agree, she was fortunate enough to be placed in a rather mundane team. Her teammates were a Yamanaka and another was a first-generation shinobi of his line. They both intrigued her in different ways: the Yamanaka was the remnant of a once-great lineage, and though this arrangement was hardly the best his clan hoped for, she would have to one day combine well his talents with her own. And that first-generation boy...

She wanted to ask him what made him choose to serve the village, but the question never lingers long enough for her to ask, even as the words dance on the throes of her lips.

But so quickly, she came to despise them.

(Even though it was she who wanted to challenge their team, to quicken the pace of their growth, what gave them the right to die without her permission?)

Dent

They replaced her teammates, claiming it was a tragedy that had happened too early, robbing her of beautiful friendships so quickly in the roots.

(She does not know the reason why, but the old geezers saying such things in such a way made her mad enough to kick a dent into the compound wall.)

It was only then that she realized what truly was loss and those tears, the first and last, came pouring hot and saline. Raised to believe she was beyond blame, the blow came all the harder that it was her fault their lives had been forfeit so needlessly.

(She swears to grow stronger again, not to prove her clan wrong, but so that perhaps she could somehow make amends to the deceased that here she was, still alive, still struggling, a tiny speck in a grand course to which the end she cannot see carrying on the memory of their lives.)

Rank

With her new teammates, she advanced quickly in ranks, and before long, she left them behind. She does not find it important to remember them, because they were merely replacements, and not the same as the people she had lost.

The village eventually awarded her ranks.

(She became strongest in the way of the fist, because to her, there was nothing more beautiful and barbarically primal than the most base mean of fighting.)

But as barbaric as the way of life became, the village was still home, and she would rather her own blood paint the streets before screams and nightmares that tear families apart devour her idyllic treasure.

Burn

As time passed, it was only inevitable that her generation be exposed to the horrors of war.

(She wishes she did not have to, but cutting down these people were necessary. At least they didn't bear the crest of her darling village.)

Years later, she was forced to revise her opinion when that accursed Go-ryuu Master came.

(Her anger boiled -- burning stronger than the fiercest flames -- at those whom were too blinded for an easy way out to do the one unforgivable thing.)

But each former comrade she killed left her feeling cold as if it was her neck her hands had snapped and not theirs.

Filth

They reclaim the village with the vengeance of fire, but for her, she would never wear the insignia of Konoha again: not when her hands ran deeply red with the blood of her people. She will leave that to the next generation, the unstained, to bear the insignia of their forefathers.

(But the one thing that prevented her from believing she truly had degraded to the level of filth was when she saw that child -- brought into the village in the Senju Hokage's arms, a small body huddling in filthy rags.)

His eyes were haunted, but what made her more curious was the fact that his gaze was fixated on something beyond the horrors... It made her wonder, had she became too fixated on the nightmare that was the present if even this fledgling child can look behind the present terrors?

(That child's gaze was such a pitiful and inspiring sight that the promises from numerous years ago returned to her with painful clarity. Wasn't she fighting so that children like Uchiha Akeru never wears such an expression on their faces ever again?)

Time

With the blink of an eye, three years had come and gone.

(As much as she loves her village, her home, no matter how many years passes and how much time wanes, never truly did that seedling of doubt wither.)

The way the children around her changed (she had long forgotten when she had cut herself from them) breaks her heart, because they were all growing up so quickly in ways and manners children shouldn't.

It was wrong. These were the years they should be laughing and playing, not to prepare themselves for war.

(Had they all not been shinobi, would they have had more opportunities to cry, laugh and truly live?)
