While the riders and theirs dragons might have liked a bit more time to recover before having to deal with the ever present threat of Thread, some things run along at their own timeline...and thread is one of those things. It wasn't to long after the battles, while the Weyr and it's people were still trying to sort through the mess such fighting left behind that thread was due to fall and true to form...fall it did. Some riders cursed the fall, the wings were not at full strength and even worse had not flown together before...it was sure to be a messy fall even with Wingleader Kleo's experience to see them through it. No one - except perhaps the Benden riders - were worried about following her into the battle, but the nagging lack of confidence with wounded making holes in their ranks and unfamiliar dragons at their side still harried the riders as they formed up. And even while those thoughts worried some and even as others cursed the arrival of this age old enemy - still others cherished it...this, this was an old and familiar enemy..this, they could burn from the sky and deal with, secure in the knowledge that they could handle it. fighting thread was almost a welcome return to normalcy after the chaos of the Revolution. OOC Please refer to the Guide to Threadfall for tules & instructions on how to participate! This will be a long and hard Threadfall. This is the first wave of 4, once this wave has been burned from the sky another wave will begin. Thread to be Burned : 260*Please keep a running total of how much thread is left at the bottom of your posts for those who post after you. Thanks!

Ca'mil and Cheryth certainly had no problem following a fellow Crimson rider into battle, she had formed up along with her wing at their appointed location and when the order was given surged forward along with the rest. It was simply bad luck that this first chage was met with a small gust of wind which sent the thread whirling about in an unpredictable and therefore dangerous pattern. Cheryth flinched slightly underneath her and winked between, returning moments late 'Is it bad?' ..'no, it's but a scratch' The crimson assured her rider. They would keep fighting.

S’kor and Scarath HP: 62/62 Agility: -4
He was ready. Everything had been double checked. Scarath had been given plenty of firestone and ready to flame. At the call S’kor mounted the bronze dragon and tightened his straps. Double check with the wing and D’lin. Once the signal is given lets go. They didn’t have long to wait.
He was ready. Gasses rolled in his stomach. When he belched them forth they would sear the Thread from the sky. Scarath rumbled and his eyes whirled red. Yes he was ready. Yes Mine. Gale Stalkers report. Plexith, tell Yours we are ready. He impatiently flipped his wings, then settled under his rider’s hand. Soon enough. Soon they would be up.
Time finally came, the signal was given. Scarath leaped for the sky with broad sweeps of his wings. He trumpeted brassily. The next moment they were at the Fall. His mouth opened as he spotted a clump. Thread. Bright flames turned it into ash.

Optheli and Dynith HP: 35/35 Agility: +2
Optheli did her final checks on Dynith’s harness. The nervous green trembled slightly under her hand. “Easy girl. I’m with you. This is for the Weyr and people of Pern.” Her calm confidence soothed the green. “Got enough firestone?” Automatically she checked the bags that held the surplus they would take. It was full. ‘Theli nodded happily.
Dynith crooned to her rider. She knew they would always be together. Yes Optheli. My gullet is full. We are ready to fly. The last was added to Scarath. She nudged her rider to mount. It took only moments. Then the pair followed the wing into the sky.

Optheli and Dynith Damage: -2 +2=0
Optheli directed the green toward a large clump. Flame well my beauty. Pouring all her encouragement into the thought. She felt the dragon tense then flames momentarily lit up the silver strands. They flew past before Optheli felt a bit of pain. I've been scored, she told the gree, giving directions for a quick hop between.
When they came back, she felt her neck. No it wasn't thread after all. Just some hot ash.

D'lin and Plexith were more then ready to fight an enemy they were actually trained to fight. Sure it was dangerous - sure there was a good chance that some of his riders..or himself..would be injured in the battle, but at least it was a battle that they were prepared for. No one ever looked forward to thread, that would be crazy..but he did look forward to not having to wing things and make the plan up on the fly.
'Scarath and the others report ready' Plexith told his rider 'Good, report to Moriath and tell the rest to await our signal' The bronze did as he was told and when the signal came led his wing into the fray with a brazzy bugle.
D'lin & Plexith HP - 62 + 15 HP (Wingleader) = 77 HP Wingleader bonus +5 to Burn DIce. Dmg Mod - (-3)

N'mol and Bronze Tyeth HP: 81 Burn: 6+5=11 Damage Mod: -3 Thread Remaining: 231-11=220
N'mol strapped on his helmet as he walked briskly to Tyeth. His wing had practiced several times together and he hoped they proved themselves capable. They would have to, in order to preserve Benden's strong image and show Wingleader Kleos-- whose dragon's color was still not to be thought of-- that despite her likely prejudices against his age, he was a competent leader. Malvren, unsurprisingly, had turned out to be the problem Weyr when it came to Wingleaders.
Tyeth's eyes were on the sky rather than his rider, and his thoughts were focused on gathering the wing. The moment N'mol was in his seat, Tyeth lifted off, leaving N'mol to strap in as they went. Thankfully, it seemed the initial protestations to the joining of the two broken Benden wings did not mean the riders would slack. N'mol had made very clear what would happen if anyone chose to turn their backs on their duties. Now he rose with almost a full wing of Benden riders and waited for the signal.
We go.
N'mol was sucked into between, but it spat him out again in position. Kleos, obviously, had chosen to take the lead, but there would be plenty of Thread to go around today. He hoped his wing kept their wits about them and the injuries were few-- it was unlikely they would be non-existent.
Remind them to stay in formation, Tyeth. Tight ranks.
As Tyeth did so, the Benden pair swept into the fight and Tyeth, at the head of his wing, let loose a burst of searing fire to consume the first of the Dawn Fliers' Thread tally for the day.

Wykla and Kameth HP: 45/45 Agility: +1
They were healed. Beside her a bright blue rumbled his approval at that. They would fight today. Wykla felt Kameth’s firm response to that. She handed him another piece of firestone. “Is that good?” The teen watched as the dragon, with eyes half closed, chewed the hard rock. He wanted to burp, but knew now wasn’t the time. Everything was ready and Wykla was making sure Kameth had enough flame to start. When the dragon said he’d had enough she passed the bag off to a weyrling and mounted. Her legs braced securely in the straps.
Kameth lashed his tail and raised his wings. They would fight Thread again. He wanted to go. Now. Enough wasting time on the ground. For a moment he settled, then went right back into launch posture. Not yet, not yet, now! With a word, the blue sprang for the sky. It didn't take long and Thread was within sight. Kameth warned his rider, and furling his wings dove for a clump. He pulled up and watched it burn.

F’law and Zurith HP: 45/45 Agility: +1
He knew this was required of himself and Zurith. That didn’t mean he had to like going out into that blue sky. Nope. In fact he’d done everything he could to delay actually going out under the sky. Everything was done under some kind of shelter that he could do. Everything. Finally he couldn’t deny it any more. The call had come to form up.
Zurith watched his with a blue eye tinged with red. He knew his would fight. If only he needed a little coaxing. Mine you mayhap be able to mount under that awning, but I cannot take off from there. Zurith sounded amused. He crouched down and held out a leg. Come let us be off.
The dark blue turned his head to watch as His climbed up and strapped down. I will not let you fall. Reassurance flowed from dragon to rider. Then the command came to fly from a crimson. It was a new experience. They would see how well she did. Zurith took off. He cast around until he spotted a small tangle that had been missed by the other dragons. He changed angle and came at it. Flaming well and destroying the whole thing.

Cetalese and Green Halith HP: 35 Burn: 4 Damage Mod: +2 Thread Remaining: 210-4=206
Cetalese and Halith heeded the call to battle and were some of the first in position. Halith was practically shaking with eagerness, wanting to get back out and sear Thread as they had the first time.
With fewer Scorings this time, please, Halith, Ceta suggested, glancing down at the scars Halith sported on her front leg and her side from their first Fall. Ceta bore her own scars, of course, but they had healed cleanly and were covered by her leathers.
We will not make the same mistakes again, Cetalesemine. I will be more careful. That was our first time and the first time out as a wing. I am sure we will all be safer this time.
Ceta watched Plexith lift from the ground and felt Halith follow. She certainly hoped that was the case. Following Plexith's bugle, Halith's own excited call echoing Plexith's, the pair followed their wing to the battlefield, thankful to come out ahead of the leading edge. Cetalese glanced at the Malvren wing that was leading, then redirected her attention to the Thread that drifted at her own wing.
Focus. Steady.
Easier to do without you reminding me and distracting me, Cetalesemine! Halith replied with a hint of sarcasm as she burned several strands of Thread to ash.

Eliza had once more joined her own wing for the fight against Thread - part of her, as always, sincerely wished that she was flying with her friends...but it was not to be, she could at least take solace in the knowledge that they were flying - and fighting something they could actually fight well.
'Ready Velath?' She asked her green as she mounted, only to take her position with her wing moment's later 'Of course, I'm always ready!' Came the green's reply and true to her word she flamed a good bit of thread from the sky as they were signaled forward along with the others.

Z'fer and Bronze Calanoth : Burn Post
Even if it wasn't him leading the Fall he was proud to see Kleos taking charge. Let her show Benden and even Trine what she could do. Malvren's leaders wouldn't have promoted her without due reason, even with the vote heavily in her favor.
Calanoth hadn't taken to serious of injuries in the fighting and Z'fer's leg wouldn't stop him from leading his own wing. He checked that those members remaining were in proper formation, it was ahrd adjusting for so many losses at once but with the combined forces of three Weyrs in the air they shouldn't have a problem. There was even a full queen's wing now to keep an eye out for any burrows.
Z'fer could feel the rumbling of stones and gas building up in the dragon beneath his legs and gave the signal for Calanoth and the Storm Riders to rise. The moment Kleos gave the ok they were gone, appearing over the unfamiliar territory of Trine. One last check to make sure his wing was in shape and they were off, Calanoth taking the first clump with a great burst of flame.

N'mol and Bronze Tyeth HP: 81 Burn: 6+5=11 Damage Mod: -3 Thread Remaining: 185-11=174
Their concerns over the politics of Weyr life, over Kindra and Suunath, over the other Wingleaders fled N'mol and Tyeth-- mostly N'mol-- as soon as they engaged the long time menace of Thread. N'mol felt that singular focus strike him and found himself looking everywhere at once, tracking the angle of Threadfall for sudden winds, keeping an eye on his wingriders, watching for
Watch it.
Tyeth easily evaded the clump with a drift to the side and turned his head to burn away the writhing silver bundle before it could get out of range.
And again.
Tyeth looked ahead, making his own calculations about when Thread would come his way. I am alert, N'mol. One rider has suffered minor scoring. He is still in the air.
N'mol didn't need to respond to his dragon. He merely sent a pulse of acknowledgement back and tightened his thighs as Tyeth moved slightly ahead to engage Thread again.

F'nell and Krith HP: 55 Agility: +1
This was going to be chaos, but the brown rider couldn't say that he was in least bit surprised. Thread did tend to fall at the most inconvient times.
He checked his harness, and then mounted Krith, directing the brown into the air, and then to join their wing. He fed the brown his chunks of firestone while they waited for the official signal and then they were off. Both alert and ready to fight.
