Oh, holy mother of God!
If Shalott was not arachnophobic before, and she was, she would be after this moment forevermore. The youma was disgusting, eight hairy legs spindling around it's body with huge pincer fangs in front. She shuddered. The thing was huge, the size of a small dog. Not a tiny rat dog, either. Like, a beagle sized dog. She was backing up a step at a time, watching the moon overhead. Why the hell did this have to be so ICKY sometimes?
Shalott did not want to punch, or kick, or touch the spider for any cost but knew she had a duty to kill it. If she was this terrified who could say what havoc it would wreak on others? Civilians. Where the hell was Tony? She glanced around furtively for her husband and partner and came up empty. He wasn't supposed to come out this way that she knew of though they were near to the house.
The spider turned and spit a web at her, like Spiderman, and caught her in its sticky threads, gluing her feet to the ground. As it advanced she was not too proud to scream as she thrashed, responding with her won web to keep the monster from coming closer.

Chaonis was just starting his version of a patrol when he felt an energy signature nearby. It was not a senshi, but it was still Order aligned. One of those pointless knights, he imagined. So far, he had not seen anything good or useful about them, but maybe he had just met all the sorry ones so far.
His experience with them was not profound, after all.
He didn't go out of his way.
Well, except tonight, he supposed. But then, he justified it by saying he hadn't really picked which way he was going to go out patrolling tonight, so she was just on his path. He walked leisurely toward the source, and saw the youma she was fighting.
A girl and a big spider. Clearly this was a job for a man.
Or he could just sit there and watch her struggle against what she was clearly afraid of and did not want to go anywhere near. It was kind of amusing, and Chaonis felt no real threat from youma. They were made of dust, and the only trick to beating them was turning them back into it.
At least, as far as he cared to know.
"Let me guess. It invited you to its parlor for some tea."

"Not at all. I was just sitting on my tuffet minding my own business when this thing showed up!"
Of course, there weren't any curds and whey in sight. Did anyone eat them anymore? Shalott was happy to see help nearby and, much to her delight, this someone had butt wings. That was a sure sign of power. She had no idea at all that it was her own stepson coming to her rescue. That would have thrown her through a loop, certainly, and she didn't know what Tony would think of it.
The spider youma did not seem pleased about the new arrival and squirted sticky strands of web at Chaonis trying to trap him to the ground at the very least so the senshi could not come closer. She didn't want to get closer to the beast but she found herself getting brave, kicking its face savagely though she came dangerously close to the fangs in its mouth as she did. Even odds on what -those- would do to a person.
Introductions could wait. This wasn't the time for them but from his costume it probably had something to do with danger? She could never be sure. The youma turned its attention back to her seeing as she hurt it. It hissed again, the sound impossibly creepy and sent a shiver up the Squire's spine.

Chaonis leaped backwards and away from the webs, not ready to get himself caught like she had. Anyway, seeing what had captured her helped him in avoiding it, so some good had come from her mistake, at least.
He grinned, cocky as he always was.
Youma did not threaten him. He did not think there was one out there that he could not defeat, but of course he would be wrong in that. Still, he was ready to fight, ready to bash this thing into dust, because that was all it was.
And who was afraid of dust?
Chaonis rarely used his magic, and had learned how to battle with just his bare hands. He was a brawler by heart, and he lived for the thrill of the fight. So he leaped onto the youma, onto its back, punching it in what was probably its head. Though all the bumps on the spider looked the same, and he was just aiming for the smallest one in the series.

Was he out of his god damned mind?
She watched in horror as the senshi jumped onto the back of the spider and proceeded to try and manually beat him into submission. The spider did not like this, of course, but his arms were not prehensile and could not reach behind it that well. It thrashed and tried to knock Chaonis off of it's back.
Shalott tried to do something useful and made the vines grow again, noticing at once how much easier they were for the spider to get out of and how tired this made her. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea but it gave him a chance, for now, to do some damage before they subsided.
When those faded and much sooner than she liked She looked around for something to hit it with. Unlike her compatriot she was not about to go beating the thing with her bare fists. A tree limb was handy as she searched but it took her a little while to find it.

"Whoa, holy s**t," Chaonis laughed, gripping on to the rather gross fur that he discovered on the spider's body. It just made the thing that much more disgusting, but he was not creeped out by things like bugs.
Bugs could be stepped on. Or, if they were this large, punched to death.
He just needed to not get bitten or stabbed or whatever it wanted to do with its large face claws.
"Come on, what are you doing?" he yelled at the knight, watching her run off. Another one of those that needed a little weapon to help them. They were granted awesome strength! Why not stick with what made them super heroes? True, some had more of a knack for brawling than others, but he did not consider it that hard a thing to learn how to do.
Punching was natural. It was fun, too.
The youma managed to throw him, though, and he scrambled out of the way as it tried to bite him and pay him back for the sucker punches he had delivered. He managed to avoid its mandibles, laughing as he did so. It was a game to him, it seemed, though really he was just appreciating a good, thrilling fight.

The boy was insane, reckless. What in the hell did he think? That he was somehow immune to being hurt? Shalott couldn't believe it and yet here he was, riding the spider like a bucking bronco. She knew they weren't superheroes. The spider seemed to know it, too, and threw the senshi off of it. She watched as he landed.
She looked around, searching for something to help her in the fight. Weapons seemed to be scarce and so perhaps Chaonis' idea, while a bit base and reckless, was the best idea. She'd actually have to touch the youma and grimaced at the very thought.
"Come on," she chided herself. "It's just like any other youma. You can do this."
She moved behind the youma while it was distracted by her ally and kicked at one of the legs. If they could make the creature immobile then the advantage, and the battle, would be theirs. Beating at its body was all well and good but Kyn had a husband to come home to, children. She needed to gain the advantage and limit risks.
There were several joints to choose from. She picked the one she could reach easiest that would take that leg out of use. Taking perhaps more time than she should she lined up the kick and delivered a swift blow that snapped the bone or whatever was there. The youma didn't like that and shifted the focus from Chaonis to her.
"Get it's legs!" Less sporting, much safer.

Chaonis probably did think that. Hey, he had some nice plastic armor on and he was having fun. That was all he really needed to know, beyond the constant knowledge that he was super strong.
Hell yeah he was.
He saw what she was up to and he move to echo her efforts, going to punch the hell out of the spider's legs. Then they could dust the thing and be done with it. There was always a way to bring these things down, and usually pretty easily.
Chaonis had a very low opinion of youma. And knights. He stepped back after a moment, though, looking at the knight he was kind of half helping. Or at least had been, until he realized that was what he was doing.
"Finish it off," he said.

She continued work on the legs noticing that Chaonis was doing the same. Between the two of them crippling the monster was not very hard or dangerous of a task. Once it was left high and dry on it's own and was unable to move it looked decidedly unhappy. The knight stared at it long and hard trying to face her fear of spiders.
"It's just a youma. It will burst into dust like they all do." she told herself quietly, steadying her nerves even as the youma made noises and its mouth pincers clicked ferociously, trying to nab anyone that came close. She carefully picked up a nearby tree limb and bashed it over the head, repeating the blow from a safe distance until to started to break apart. Only once it had did she breathe a sigh of relief.
"Thanks." She sighed and bent slightly, trying to calm herself. "You seem to have a death wish but thanks for helping me out. I'm not big on spiders."
And thank God he didn't know he was speaking to his new stepmother or he might be able to use that against her.

Chaonis looked at her skeptically, then nodded his head at her introduction. He had not asked, but he supposed it was just part of the system these things followed. Meet someone, usually by saving their butts, and get a name for your trouble.
"Chaonis," he said with a grin. He always grinned when he talked about himself, usually with great pride. "Eternal Senshi of Danger. So death wishes aren't my thing, just a bit of thrill."
He laughed and shrugged.
"Anyway, it's whatever! The thing is dead and my job, saving your butt, is done. That's my good deed for the day and with that I'm going to go." The silent end to that sentence, 'cause trouble', was left in the air and yet all too audible.

Chaonis. She'd have to remember that name. He seemed handy to have around and his name seemed to give her a clue as to why he seemed so keen on jumping straight into danger. She shrugged and let him go, happy and laughing with him. She remembered a time when she wanted to taste freedom and have a thrill. There was nothing else to say anyway.
"Have fun raising hell. Try not to get hurt."
