Riyo never realized how refreshing it was to be out and about until she had no money to spend while venturing. Ironic how things like that worked. The feline did, however, have a little chunk of pocket change that would be enough to buy her a cup of black coffee at the local cafe. Take the edge off of her brooding, maybe. Okay, probably not.

Seemed like as soon as she set everything right in her own life, things fell apart everywhere else. It figured. That was her luck. At the very least, it was easier to take joy in small things. Like the smell of coffee beans when she opened the door and the soft lighting. The unquestioning attitude of the employee and her swiftness in pouring the likely overpriced cup of goodness. How it steamed under the lid. The strangely comfortable wooden chair next to the window, and the best part of all: the quiet.

So what would ruin it this time, she wondered.

A certain cowboil was always willing to ruin your quiet, Riyo. Always. Because what were friends for?

Mot strolled into the cafe, ordering his usual black coffee and making his way to a table to sit and read. But then he caught sight of Riyo. Perfect! Just the ghoul he needed to see. Why didn't he think of this sooner? She was perfect for this!

Mot dashed forward, sliding into the seat across from her and stared, a wide grin on his face.

"Howdy."

Riyo, who had been completely zoned out while staring at the patrons strolling by the window, practically jumped when someone addressed her. Oh jeez. Mot. A certain boil she hadn't seen since prom, and since s**t hit the fan between him and Hel, apparently. Recent developments hadn't even reached her yet. Might've been a good thing for Mot's sake.

The feline's face scrunched as she let out a deep breath. "Hello stranger. You seem cheerful today." The polar opposite of Riyo, who looked like somebody pissed in her cheerios. Head now cradled by her hand, she slumped over and waited to hear what he wanted. "To what do I owe the honor of your presence?" Sarcasm was an art form. For the demoness, at least.

Mot kept up the grin. Riyo was Riyo after all.

"Well!" He said, sounding like he would be taking up her time for a while. "I am in need of your expertise!" The reaper took a long sip of his coffee, breathing a sigh and letting its bitter taste sink in.

"I need advice. I'm attempting to improve myself, and one thing I feel I need to be rid of is my lack of honesty." Mot's face went serious, or attempted to. He still seemed excited. "I need to avoid flattery. I fall back on it much too often, and I feel it will do more harm than good in the end."

"You're brutally honest, right? What is your secret?"

Chin in hands, expectant smile.

Expertise? Riyo was good at many things, so that certainly didn't clarify anything.

Lifting the hot coffee to her lips, the feline listened as she sipped. Yes, Mot did indeed have a problem in the flattery department. He was ridiculous about it. Though she rolled her eyes at his question, it was quickly followed with a quiet moment of contemplation.

"I don't really see why you'd need advice on this. I can't teach you how to not give a s**t. It's something you learn by yourself." The ghoul admitted, but it didn't stop her from continuing to think. Tap tap tap went her finger on the table after she released her coffee cup.

And then it stopped. "Truth be told Mot, I like words. Written or verbal. I enjoy the variety and the plethora of meanings, though I've never been one to use a word inappropriately. It's disrespectful." To the word. She didn't really care about the person.

Her brow furrowed the more she thought about it. "You use flowery words as if they're a seed a dozen instead of saving them for when they'd really matter. You cheapen them, not only making yourself a liar, but making the words worthless and common. Moreover, you deny the person you're lying to a chance to improve by shielding them like little babies. It's very demeaning."

Mot chuckled softly. "Well that is true, though I am not looking to learn how to 'not give a s**t.'" Riyo's way of explaining things was a delightful change of pace from say Hel or Lizzy's ways.

The way Riyo explained what his flattery did really hit a cord with him. "I see.." He murmured thoughtfully, taking a sip from his coffee. "I didn't realize that's what I was doing." Only a minute in, and Mot was learning. "I don't imagine it will be easy to pull away from how my words normally gravitate, but this information will definitely make me second guess how I communicate."

He smiled and took another sip of coffee. "You're quite helpful, Riyo."

Right. Obviously Mot wasn't that fast of a learner. The feline swatted his empty hand as if it was a fly. "No flattery." The ghoul said seriously, her head shaking in disappointment.

"I suppose that's why you guys come to me for advice, though. I won't bullshit you." Honestly, it was more out of spite than out of a wish to help her friends. Nobody sugar coated anything for her. One big reason why she hated sweets. The very flavor reminded her of sugary lies she had been denied. "Truth is bitter. It's one of those things you either learn how to handle or never learn how to advance forward. It's hot and cauterizing. Sustaining, unlike sugary lies."

Hm. Now what? Shooting him a curious look, the feline's eyebrow raised. "Anything else you need to get off your chest, cowboil?"

Mot flinched, wincing as he realized he'd done it without realizing. Ah, but he meant what he said! Pout. "Right, right, sorry." Oops.. were apologies off limits too? Oh well, too late anyway. "Geez, this is hard."

"Okay, so... Truth is bitter. So truth is coffee!" Mot loved coffee, so maybe he could learn to love truth as well.

Mot thought carefully, shrugging his shoulders. "Nothing else comes to mind straight away. I've just made a lot of terrible mistakes lately so.. I feel I need to make my life a little simpler for myself."

Nobody said it would be easy, Mot.

"Yeah, a lot like this black coffee, actually." Riyo glanced at her cup, then back at the boil. Mistakes? The ghoul had to wonder exactly what he considered a mistake. "Guess you're not planning on sharing with the class then. I see how it is." The ghoul moved her cup around on the table, attempting to savor it instead of polishing it off like she usually did. "That's fine. You just sat here to get what you want. Off with you then." Was she curious? Oh yes she was. Was Riyo above guilt tripping? Oh no she wasn't.

"Wh---No! No I didn----" Wait.. was he using flattery? No.. no he needed to be truthful! Mot sucked in a breath.

"I will be... honest." He said with strain. "I saw you, and thought I could use your brain to help myself and nothing more. I apologize for my selfishness." Mot bowed his head. "I truly am wicked. If you care to hear what I have done, I am willing to share.. and in return, may I do something for you?"

Ahaha, this game was fun. Riyo had just claimed the best of both worlds. Leaning back in her seat finally, the ghoul smirked as she drank her coffee. "Oh please. Wicked is like an antonym for you. There's nothing wrong with being selfish. Everybody does it." Just like how she had played him for her own reasons.

"See though? That wasn't so bad. I honestly figured you'd try to come up with an excuse." and he hadn't. Riyo supposed she couldn't be right all the time. "As a reward, I'll accept your offer." As if that was really a reward.

Mot puffed his cheeks a bit. He wasn't completely innocent, he was sure. He too could be wicked, though he supposed it was nothing to be proud of. She said being a little selfish was okay though? That he believed. After all, his new life he decided to look out for himself for once.

"Alright then.. Well, you know Hel and I had parted ways as a couple, yes? A few nights ago I broke that boundary even though I was unsure of my feelings for her by.." He cleared his throat. "Bedding with her, despite not being a couple."

Mot hid himself behind his coffee mug, taking a sip to clear his head. "I'm not sure what made me give in to desire, but I learned after the fact it was not love that drove me to do it. I decided I needed to make that clear to her. It wouldn't be fair to string Hel along simply because I didn't want her to be sad."

Ah yes. Juicy story time. Riyo got comfortable and perked her ears as Mot began to recall his recent experiences. Of course the ghoul nodded at his question, lifting her cup to take a drink from it. Broke a boundary, eh? Bedded with her, eh?

Wait.

It took Riyo only a second or two to process the meaning, her eyes widening to the size of golfballs. All she could do was turn her head to the side before she spat out her drink in surprise.

MOT LOST HIS VIRGINITY.

BEFORE HER.

That meant she was in fact the biggest prude of Amityville. Oh... Oh my.

"Y-you just... Like that?!" She was much more shocked than she ever thought she would be. To know that Mot would just... Do something like that and not know why. Her cup was slammed down on the table, a look of bewilderment glued to her face as if it was the only emotion she knew now. "I just... I don't... Woah." Forget about Hel's feelings, this was some s**t!

"Oh dear.." Mot covered his mouth as Riyo spat out her coffee in shock, looking from her to her spilled brew. "Such a waste..." He mumbled mostly to himself.

"Y-yes... just like that." Mot said timidly, shrinking a bit and sipping his now depleting coffee. "Um... are you okay?" He asked, uncertain.

"No, I'm not okay!" Riyo shouted, then cringed at how loud she was being. She needed to calm herself the ******** down. Chill pill time. Lawdy.

Again, she slumped over, this time both hands reaching to rub her temples. "I just don't understand how one can be so prude one moment then have sex for no reason."

Oh Jack. The way Titus kept coming by. What if it hit her spur of the moment?! Then what?! The thought hit her like a ton of bricks. Or, Jack forbid, Deacon came around at the right time. Horrible! These thoughts were horrible!

"Mot!" she lunged over the table to grab a hold of his shirt, shaking him like a salt shaker. "I don't want that to happen to me! Look at me! I'm already a mess! I can't deal with that!" Looked like somebody had a phobia she wasn't addressing.
