Teenagers...nothing like them in the real world. They listen to their music, and do what they do to be different or just themselves. Some do drugs while others drink. Some do both, while others do none. There are those that may follow in someone else's footsteps, or make their own within the world. No matter who you are in "real world", though, if you're a teenager....life is just another thing coming. And you best be ready for its cruelest moments or simply bliss ones.

Because unlike Adults, and Children, you're the teen. And a teenager can be so many things. The shy girl, or the shy guy. The popular girl, or the popular guy. The shining knight in armor, so to speak, or perhaps the messenger of death simply wanting some fun. No matter who you are amongst your peers, you're still you. Perhaps you're a gamer? Or, perhaps you have a plan to create a life more remarkable than your own? Or, maybe...just maybe... you don't even care.


Regardless who your character is, if they are within this topic, they are a teenager.

Once a character turns 13, they are officially a teenager. However, I'm bending the rules and outlook a bit, because I believe any age with the word "teen" still makes that individual a teenager. So, if you want to roleplay a 18-year-old, that's fine. That means the rp profile goes into this topic as they are still viewed as a teenager.

xX Roleplaying a Teenager Xx

For those who are experienced with roleplay, it isn't necessary for you to read this post though it my inspire you. For those not, this post is to help you roleplay a teenager.


Being a Teenager. This can be read in many different ways, but one you must consider is what kind of teenager your character is. Not all teenagers are the same, and, in fact, are very different. Keep reading to see what I mean.


xxx1. You do not have to act like a "teenager".
Yes, you're a teenager and you'll be the typical one, right? - wrong! You can roleplay your character however you wish, yes. But, they do not have to represent what it's like to be a teen. They don't have to be misunderstood, they don't have to hate people around them or things, they don't have to be "popular", etc. They can be however you want them to be in their own way without you trying to make them out to be. You don't have to give them an excuse to be a teenager, they are one! Just roleplay them as they are instead of forcing them to be who they should be. Let them, be them.

xxx2. You don't have to throw a fit like a emotional teenager.
When you're rping, and for some reason your character is upset, you do not have to throw a fit. Your character is a teenager, and they will have random emotional ups and downs depending on their stage of puberty but: your character could be more mature than that, or just handles the situation differently.

xxx3. You don't have to hold back the tears.
It's okay to cry sometimes, no matter how old you are. Teenagers are the ones that have to cry the most because of all the pain they're feeling all at once. If you character holds back the tears, then they'll be frustrated later on. Your character will have emotions just like any other human, so roleplay it. How much they cry and how plus why is up to you. Just don't do it all the time, otherwise the poor thing's eyes will hurt.

xxx4. You do have to purse a career.
Your character may live in a home where she/he doesn't need to get a job, but it's good for them to purse one. Some teenagers may need the job because they don't have the proper home to support them. A few may even need the job to help their family at home. Even if you character doesn't need one or does, they'll have a dream job in mind. The dream job doesn't have to be perfect, nor does it have to be extravagant - but its a job that your character dreams of. Whether its to work at their favorite restaurant, or to own one. You decide.

As the roleplay continues on, I may add to this. But, for now, this is good to keep in mind. I hope everyone understands that these are just tips, and they help out those new to roleplaying as children.
