Cycling Choose Your Own Adventure This game is now open, and will remain so throughout the weekend! In this game a mod will write a story prompt related to the sport and give players multiple choices to move the story along. At each stage, at least one of the options may result in a dead end, knocking your character out of the race. The game ends when the last person is knocked out or when we reach the end of the story. 1) You must be here when the game begins and post for every step of the way to win. You will be prewarned with how much time you have to post for each stage. 2) You must choose one of the offered options. 3) Please be a good sport if you get knocked out. 4) NO editing! We are keeping a list of who chooses which option, and those that cheat will find themselves disqualified, at minimum. 5) See BELOW for a guidelines about how to post your choices in prompts. Cycling The 150km course in which the Cycling events of the Olympics took place on were by far the largest of venues in this year's games and one of the most scenic for those actually paying attention. Weaving through the many diverse environments of Ofeliaguilar the course traveled though a large and small city (paved roads), through fields and forests (well packed dirt roads), and even alongside their famous volcanic beach (rocky road). Of course, like any volcanic area, the weather is volatile! There would be very little leisure cycling on this road though, competitors riding hard and fast to be the first to cross that finish line. It was a long race full of surprises and likely many strategies to be employed. When Posting:You will see a prompt posted by the mule during each round of the race. The prompt will contain one narrative per player path, and two options per narrative. While there may be four or more options posted, only two will actually apply to you at any given time. Make sure to post the option you choose in bold before your narrative, for easy tracking. See the example below: Quote: Suddenly, you are made quite aware that you shouldn't have had that habenero shrimp burrito with extra guacamole just before a huge race. You need to go. Do you: a. Detour off the path into the woods to take a dump! b. Try and hold it until the next check point! You have until BLAHPM CST to respond to this prompt. Your response should look similar to the following: Quote: a. Detour off the path into the woods to take a dump!Bonquiqui Knight had long ago learned not to ignore the demands of her body! Trying to hold it in wouldn't go well, and so she glanced around to make sure no one was watching before she veered off the course! From this point, the mule would post TWO narratives, one for path a. and one for path b. Make sure you read the correct narrative and choose the options applicable to you! Follow any guidelines within your chosen narrative. If you have multiple characters, you need to make a separate post for each of them and denote. If you have any questions, please direct them to Indubitably, as she will be running this game.

PROMPT ONE - THE STARTING GUN
A gorgeous day, and filled with adventure! The starting area for the race is crowded with fans, teammates, rivals, and of course, bicycles! One of the longer running events, the race is known for being a wild ride, with injuries and triumphs. People are eating, drinking, saying hello to old friends, comparing their safety equipment and doing last minute preparations.
For better or worse, your knight is here! While they mill about in the contestant's area, waiting for the announcement and starting gun, how do they spend their time?
Do They: a. Get to know their fellow competitors and check in with their teammates! The point of the games is fun, and part of that is getting to know new friends and rivals! b. Focus on studying the course information and making sure their equipment is ready to go! This is a competition!
You will have approximately 12 hours to respond to this prompt and enter the race. There will be no late entrants. Please post by 9PM CST [7PM PST/10PM EST].

Sessrumnir Squire of Jupiter knew it would be an important race that day. He knew he hadn't gotten as far as he was sure Princess Jupiter would have liked him to, but in his defense, he was just living life to the fullest and doing his best. That's all she could really ask for, right?? Besides, these games were meant to promote peace and acceptance from all over the universe! It was only right for him to chat amongst his teammates and try and figure out just what he could do to get the attention of those Venus women.

Whether or not the event was supposed to promote peace and acceptance, there was also a standard that they, as knights, needed to try and achieve. Valhalla Knight of Jupiter crouched down by his bike, checking to make sure everything was in tip top shape. He didn't want to risk any kind of "accident" while he was out on the track. He made sure the tires were at the right pressure and none of the screws and bolts were loose. He checked the brakes and height of his seat, and when he was fully satisfied, he picked up the map of the course, making sure he knew where he needed to really push it, and where he could let the track itself do the hard work for him and weed out the competition.
And he swore, if any of his fellow Jupiter knights thought it would be a good idea to hug him before the race started, he was definitely going to kick their a** later.

Shalott of Earth liked the feeling of camaraderie but before a competition it was better to check what you are working with to make sure everything is in peak order. Getting to know an opponent might give you an advantage but your equipment failing will certainly make you lose. She was having none of that and spent time oiling her bicycle chain and tending to all of the technical things she could do.

Carwyn, Page of Venus, was as usual, too excited and happy and wanting to know everyone. From every planet. Because their uniforms and planet colors intrigued her, and she really couldn't help herself!

While normally Nakhti. Page of Uranus, would be mingling, being far more interested in people than most of the competitions, he also knew that if he didn't check his equipment, he would more than likely have issues later on. And that would be bad.
He checked over his bike, running through all of the spots that might possibly have problems, and once he was done with that, figured that he might as well check out the course information. Maybe it would give him an edge.

Aria, page of Cosmos, had NO time whatsoever to have a chat with her fellow competitors. This was a race of the utmost importance, and like all the games so far (ha!) she had to win win win.
It was time to look everything up and make sure she was prepared. Only when she had everything ready and she knew what to expect, would she feel comfortable.

While he knew it was a good idea to check over his things, really he knew this! Alkanet was not doing that, he had a good reason for this of course, he trusted his fellow knights to not have messed around with his things and so he was trying to be social. This was why he'd come here, to get away from the isolation of Pluto and be out and around others, so he was going to use his time wisely and work on meeting others and enjoy these games. So far he'd been doing a good job of trying new things, revisiting old things, and having fun in general. He didn't think his princess would mind, in fact he thought she might understand his actions and inactions.

Elis, Page of Jupiter didn’t even consider checking his equipment. He wouldn’t even know what to do if anything happened to be broken, except stand there like a hopeless idiot and wait for someone to notice that something was wrong and maybe offer their help. Checking over his things would mean actually thinking about the race to come, and if he started thinking about it he’d just end up winding himself up and freaking out over nothing, so instead he mingled among his competitors and teammates in an attempt to distract himself. Mostly this just meant shuffling around and listening to everyone else talk as he sort of zoned out with a vacant expression on his face.

Väinämöinen was in trouble, again. There was so many beautiful girls particiating in the cycling competition. There was Aria, whose beauty rivaled with all stars in the universe. And there was Carwyn, the gorgeous Venus knight who defeated him in the fencing tournament with her stunning looks.
He needed to keep himself busy so that he wouldn't stare at those gorgeous women. So, he tried his best to look focused and check things he needed to check to get ready for the race. He needed to win this race and prove himself worthy.

Iseult, Page of Earth could think of only one thing to do during the first portion of these games. She skipped over to say hello to other competitors! After all, she was here to make friends and have fun, not necessarily to win all the things. (Though winning at least something would have been great...ah well! New friends.)

If Simonides wanted to go for a leisurely bike ride with her acquaintances, she would be peddling down some cheerful green lane with birds twittering overhead. And possibly with a picknick basket strapped on behind, for when they stopped to stretch under a tree. No, this was a competition, and therefore the young Squire put on her game face, prepared to bring home another medal for Mercury. And so she sat, glasses pushed up, frowning in concentration, pouring over maps of the race. Where were the dangerous turns? What places would be more rocky, and harder to navigate? There was no way she was going to fall prey to any treacherous terrain, of that she was quite certain.

Roarke, Page of Pluto, looked out across the crowds, her fellow cyclists, and the sprawling landscape of the pleasant asteroid of Ofeliaguilar. They were promised a swath of terrains and she couldn't wait to see them. This was a once in a lifetime experience -- for, even if she was sent back to the next Galactic Olympics, it would no longer be her first time competing. New was very important to the demure page, who could watch time ebb, flow, and cycle onwards, quite literally, in the time-pools of Pluto or through books in her studies to be a Knight. In this way, she could say she remembered fondly all of the competitions she had been in thus far, even if not winning a medal for her Princess was disappointing.
Still, Roarke smiled at the thought of everyone being here to impress their planets and princesses (as far as she knew, anyway). Such energy! She indulged in the pre-race atmosphere by mingling with the cyclists around her and looking for other Pluto knights, though their numbers were few. Roarke thought she had seen had seen at least one also approach the starting area.

Glendalough, Page of Earth wasn't going to take any chances. He wanted to make sure his bike was in tip top shape and more importantly that he wouldn't get lost along the way.
