User Image'Enakai was patrolling the reef a little further out then he normally would. He was feeling a bit brave today and thought it would be good to know the area better. Even though he felt brave he was more cautious than normal. The coral was still clustered close enough for him to swim from one bunch to the next quickly. He darted in and out as the sun shone through the water lighting up the underwater world. There were many tropical fish of all sizes swimming around. The sea was filled with life on this morning and everyone seemed to be moving around as usual with no signs of worry.

Cautiously 'Kai peered through a fan coral he was behind. He was trying to decide which direction he should go. He watched as all the fish swim by without a care in the world. Maybe he looked a little silly being so careful, he thought to himself. But he also thought one could never be too careful. He tucked that thought back and decided to proceed with the first. Maybe it was better to get to know the area if he could just swim around it without worrying.

He peeked over the top of the coral than back down and peered around the side. Everything looked fine he thought. He slowly swam about a foot away from the coral and hoovered there for a minute. He then gave a big sigh, releasing a large bubble as he did so. With this he swam a little further and found himself in the open. He stayed there and watched the activity of the world around him. This place didn't seem so bad and seemed to have plenty of healthy coral to nibble on.

Isadora floated easily along the bottom, peering through the coral and collecting pieces here and there. It was a lovely day in the deep, very few rays of light reaching down--but still the coral shone bright even in the darkness.

She took the most rare and beautiful pieces to make a mask for herself. It had been something she'd wanted to do for ages, and the urge had finally struck her to do something about it. Her mind wandered around the open area for a moment, before she felt something more than saw it.

There was a strong presence here. Someone or something was near by. Closing her eyes, she cleared her inner eye. An aura, a small lightly coloured one filtered in the edge. Not a strong presence, but a kind one.

"Hello?" She called out tenatively.

After being out in the open for a few minutes and enjoying the activity around him 'Kai started to feel comfortable and less anxious in this new part of the reef.

He was just about to swim off to explore more freely when he heard someone say hello. He looked around him from side to side but all he saw were fish and they couldn't speak, unless he was imagining it. He wondered if the voice was even talking to him. "Hello," He said back cautiously.

His anxiety started to rise again and he dashed quickly back to the fan coral he had previous been behind. He didn't not like strange voices whether they were in his head or not...and he wasn't sure which was worse. He peered through the coral still looking for the speaker. His eyes drew down towards the depths below and it was there he saw a red eye. The eye was attached to a orange mare. He froze knowing he wondering how well hidden he was behind the orange fan coral. He thought his hair probably gave him away. But he waited to see if she would notice.

Isadora watched at the bright seathi looked around anxiously and answered before darting back into the coral as if it hid him that well. His hair was so much brighter, so much more lush than the coral. She watched as it swayed in the water, and she kept her eye on him.

Did he fear her? Did he even see her? She could feel his anxiety all the way over here. She swam up slightly, looking over at him again. She knew her eyes could be a bit...unnerving. "I didn't mean to frighten you. I'm Isadora." She whipped her hair back out of her eyes and waited to see what he would do now. She hoped, he wouldn't run away.

'Kai watched nervously trying not look directly at the one with the red eye as she watched him and then started swimming towards him. He stayed as frozen as possible, but he couldn't control his tail fin and hair as the moved with the currents of the water.

It was when she spoke that he eased a little. She seemed nice enough. His nervousness changed to suspicious caution. He poked his head around the corner of the coral and spoke with a more forward manner than his behavior would suggest. "I'm 'Kai and I wasn't frightened just being cautious. You can never tell one's intentions." With those words he seemed to notice his body language spoke otherwise. So he moved out from behind the coral not wanting to seem like a coward. He puffed his chest out a bit and thought to himself that he was bigger than she was so there was nothing to fear.

Isadora watched as he became more animated, less afraid. Even though he said he hadn't been afraid, she still felt that he had--at least a little. She smiled at him as he spoke and moved out so that she could see him clearly.

He was bright like her, not blending in with normal coral. He seemed friendly enough--non-threatening at least which was good. She smiled as she flipped her tail quietly, "I'm Isadora. It's a pleasure to meet you."

She closed her red eyes for a moment and then looked back at him. It wasn't often that she got to meet one of her kind, let alone a male...Most were scared of her appearance.

'Kai swam closer to the mare and took in all of her. Her red eyes seemed to hold some deeper knowledge there. He had never met one with eyes like hers. Her hair was also a bit strange tucked up behind her head. Most in his herd seemed to let their hair flow freely. He wondered what it would be like to have his hair pulled back. He would have to try it one of these days. She also seemed to have almost the same orange coloring as her. This commonality made him feel more at ease with her.

As he gained his confidence he let his tail straighten and fan out more. "Are you from around here?" 'Kai asked with a forward manner. He hadn't been to this area so he didn't really know how many seathi lived in this part of the coral. He knew everyone in his area, so it was a bit strange meeting someone new. He didn't quite know how to act.

Isadora smiled at him as she flipped her tail through the warm currents. She could feel herself relaxing around him. She could feel that he was relaxing too. His colours were similiar to hers, and he was animated now that he had accepted her as not dangerous.

"I'm not," she said simply. "I move around a good deal. There's a place, near some cliffs that I like to stay near. Near enough that it only takes me a few hours to get there at most. Sometimes, I meet ground soquili there." It was after all apart of her job to help discern and untangle the futures and pasts of others.

She had to be able to access them. She would feel a strange pull when she needed to go there, when there was someone that needed her to help them. For a long time she had not understood it, and perhaps she still didn't--but she had accepted.

Some things could not be explained.

She tilted her head at him. "You live here?" She wanted to know more. Did he have family? Connections?

For some reason 'Kai felt his heart sink a little when she said she wasn't from around her. But He didn't know why. It was probably a good thing. If they did think of expanding the herd out her they wouldn't want to encroach on any one else. Also If she was from the area he thought he would have met her already.

The Kai's heart raced a little when she said she lived not too far away. But her next words stunned him. She lived by a cliff, near the land?! He knew the land wasn't far but he didn't dare venture to it. He had never seen a ground Soquili and he wasn't sure he ever wanted to. "You have met ground Soquili?" He said in an awed tone. "What were they like?" He asked in fear and fascination. "I have never been close to the shore."

"I have lived in this area my whole life. Well not right here," he stammered a little. "My herd ground is back that way," He said gesturing with his head back in the direction of the coral he had hidden behind. "This is my first time in this area. I was kind of venturing out somewhere new." Fanning his fin out fully he said, "and it looks like I have been rewarded by meeting you" He was quite happy about meeting another seathi. The only seathi he knew were those in his herd and most of them he had grown up with his whole life. He felt today that sometimes taking risks did pay off. He might have to take more in the future.

Isadora listened to him intently, "You have never seen the land dwellers?" She raised a curious eyebrow. She had grown up seeing them, knowing of them, and even talking to them. She was not afraid of them and most were unafraid of her.

"They're all kinds. Some are kind, some...are not. The wind feels different close to the shore, and the sand falls into the sea slowly like a trickle. There are sweet fruits that you can smell just beyond reach. Sometimes they brings me things." She paused, "One day, I can take you to meet one if you like." She felt her own self blush.

She listened to him talk about his herd, "Are they nice? I've never had a herd, or a family. No one to come back to, so I go as I please." She blushed at his compliment. "You are too kind," she ducked her head.

'Kai felt kind of embarrassed now. He did not know much of the world, but he had always been ok with that. He thought to himself he still was but there was something about Isadora that made him curious to know more.

"No it is not customary in my herd to really interact with many outside our herd and certainly not land dwellers"
he said in a matter of fact. He was suprised to meet someone who knew different ways. "I'm not sure I would be comfortable that far outside my herd boundries. As a herd we stick together and help each other out. Everyone has always been nice to me. But most in my herd our wary of strangers, but they are still nice if know one means them harm."

'Kai was not too interested in telling much about his herd. He wasn't sure how happy they would be about him giving information to a stranger. He was suppose to protect the herd, and that meant not saying too much. But to him there was something about this mare that said he could trust her. It was against his usual instincts. He decided to switch the conversation back on her though.

"You have always been alone? I can't imagine what that would be like," He said his tone had a hint of sadness to it. He wondered how she kept from being lonely. 'Kai always had someone to talk to when he wanted. There was always someone there when he needed them.

Isadora had long ago wished to have the comfort and security of a herd, a place to belong--others who would protect you. But she had never been able to settle down entirely, the strict confines of daily herd life grated at her nerves and made her want to not be a part of one.

"So you are wary of outsiders?" Wary, and afraid. It was one of the benefits of traveling like her. You got to know how others worked. Got to experience them and judge them quickly.

"I have been, since I was born almost. When my clam opened, my family wasn't there. I think something happened to them. So I made a place by myself, it was all I had." She blinked slowly, "Do you feel confined by being a part of a herd? You are allowed to come and go as you may?"
